I have a rooted kindle fire hd 7" that has TWRP 2.4.40 and Kinology 2.01 on it. Recently, I decided to re-install, doing this.
First:
Plugged in usb power cable (needed to charge)
Second:
Went into recovery mode via holding down the power button inside Kinology
Third:
Did a factory reset, wiped both cache and dalvic cahce
Fourth:
Flashed roms in this order;
Amazon OS 7.31 part 1
Amazon OS 7.31 part 2
Amazon OS 7.31 part 3
Kinology 2.01
Google Apps
Fith:
Cleared cache and dalvic cache again
Sixth:
hit "Reboot System"
Seventh:
Now I'm stuck at blue Kindle Fire logo, after the orange one first shows up. What should I do? I do not have a recovery cable, and the device is not detected. ADB drivers are fully installed.
Edit : Fixed
Had to boot into recovery by holding down volume up (the side closest to the mic jack) while booting!

You didn't flash part 0 of Kinology. Also, you didn't make a backup of Kinology before you did this in case of disaster, did you?
I made a backup
Don't start assuming things because I'm new! I've jailbroken two devices before the fire hd, and yes, I made a backup. My problem is getting to the recovery.
Edit:
If you are not currently running Kinology or Stock OS with TWRP 2.4.4.0, download Kinology-step0a-boot-7.3.0-twrp-2.4.4.0.zip. This will flash four items: stock 7.3.0 xloader, stock 7.2.3 bootloader, Freedom boot/kernel 7.3.0, and TWRP recovery 2.4.4.0.

I didn't assume anything. You've jailbroken, as in Apple devices? The KFHD is an Android device, if you didn't know. It doesn't matter if your ADB drivers are fully installed, ADB requires both devices to fully boot and then it starts communicating. My thread in my signature, #7.
Fixed!

I've jailbroken two different consoles, and rooted + CWM'd an android galaxy s2. But that's off topic! What is really awesome, and that nobody has been able to point out, is that you can restore perfectly fine as long as your first bootloader isn't broken, as I just found out. You just have to hold down volume up while booting, and it goes right into recovery! Happy to have device back! Flashed CM10.1 Tablet, works perfectly after multiple reboots. By the way, while you're here, as a senior member, where should I find more ROMs? I'm starting a list of kindle fire hd roms on reddit and looking for recomendations!

Consoles? I think we call those "devices" but whatever floats your boat. Take a look at the thread in my signature, Step 4.

Hello!! I am new to XDA!! I had rooted my Fire HD 7 and even installed a custom rom by following XDA methods and I was very happy and successful!!! I am not a full noob or beginner considering android. I know some stuff!! But I need help!!! Before I installed a Rom, I had backed up the stock Fire OS...... but the mistake I did was, I did not back up the Memory, Data and I backed up only the System folder!!! ( I came to know my mistake after I bricked my Fire). After using the Rom for quiet some time...... I decided to get back to the stock OS. So I did a factory reset and restored the back up (only the system folder). I got an error in restoring the back up. I tried many times again but I still got the error!!
Then I decided to reboot and see what happens........ I would get a normal blue kindle fire logo. Then........ I got a kindle fire blinking logo but not the orange one but a blue kindle fire blinking logo(It boots up forever, and does not boot up) !!! I was shocked!!! I don't think that's ever happened before with anyone!! I did not panic and I went to TWRP and mounted the SD card thinking that I will put a stock OS zip file and flash it, but even after mounting...... My PC did not recognize the Fire!! And then I messed up with my drivers ( I don't know what I did) and now not even the TWRP is showing up!!
Here is the condition of my Fire HD now :-
1) Get the kindle fire blue logo (custom bootloader) but TWRP is not showing up.
2) Then I get another Blue kindle fire logo, but the blinking one...... which should be orange.
3) That blinking blue logo goes on and on and my Fire never boots up!!
Pls Help!! I would appreciate a faster help!!! How do I fix this??
Thank You.
Well I was going to suggest making a backup of only the data partition from twrp then wiping system, cache, dalvik cache and factory reset then reflashing your os, but if you can't get into twrp I'd go with a fast boot cable and the system IMG restore utility in the android development section, assuming you don't have backups of all you partitions on your PC already.

Which software should I use?? KF First Aide or KFHD_SRT??
And one more question..... can't I get into fastboot mode without the factory cable??
Not without adb access though I haven't personally had to use fast boot before, but I thought I heard something around the lines of the 2nd boot loader having fast boot or something but I don't know if I'm imagining things or not. If you had full root access with adb you could reboot into fast boot, but since you have no os or a corrupt one you will probably need a fast boot cable I think. I am about to goto bed and don't want to have to get up and go search for my USB cable to have to kick my kindle in and out of fast boot. Oh and in this case I'd say use kfhd_srt

But it should be in fastboot mode right?? I managed to get into fastboot before the KFHD SRT. Now..... when I have boot loops.... PC is not recognizing my Fire HD!!! How do I get into fastboot?? (Without Factory cable)
You need a factory cable if its stuck in boot loops. Would love to know how the utility did this, it should have restored a fresh copy of all the stock partitions.

I'm new to rooting & customized OS...
using Kindle Fire 7" 7.4.6 D025
I've rooted the Kindle (I've downloaded a checker to confirm)
I have also downloaded CM 10.1.3, put onto the device.
I can't go into recovery mode (I've tried pressing Power repeatedly but no use... If I can get into recovery mode, then I can boot CM from there.
My other question is, what is the purpose of TeamWin?
Is there an apk file I can download?
Many thanks
OK I think from reading this you haven't done your research yet, first off to get into recovery you hold down volume down after the device powers on, second of all this device's stock recovery doesn't allow for flashing ROMs. Team win is referring to twrp, the recovery we have to use on kindle fires, we also have to use second boot loader because this device is a high security device with a locked boot loader. In short twrp isn't an apk u install, however one of the methods for installing it is. I suggest you read through this entire thread and make backups like it says: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
Two key things to note, you already did part ofone of them so good for you, that was put the ROM and the gapps zip on your kindle ahead of time so you can flash it when it starts boot looping into recovery, so don't forget the gapps zip or you won't have Google play store and such. The other thing is make sure you check the box in fireflash about downgrading the boot loader, it should have red text warning you about this. If you don't check this box you will need a fastboot to recover from the red screen on boot up that will happen. Also kinda suggest a newer ROM from our dev section like cm 10.2 or cm 11, or any variants, funny coming from me that is running cm 10.1, but that is because I couldn't get the tablet ui patch to work on cm 10.2 so I stuck with it.
Anyways hope this points you in the right direction, please read over that entire tutorial, you don't want to miss something.

The only thing i see wrong with that 2nd post is to enter TWRP from power down is power on tablet and hold down the Vol UP key, not the Vol down key.

Hello guys. I appreciate in advance any help you can bring to this thread.
Please be aware (for my amount of messages) that i'm still a newbie. So, please don't brag or dismiss any opinions or suggestions just because... Instead, try to share your magnificent knowledge and solutions to the following problem:
I have a rooted Kindle Fire HD 7", with second bootloader and TWRP recovery. I was running a 4.2.2 version of Paranoid Android without any problem. I often update ROM's and twerks for the tablet and my SGS3, so i'm pretty much capable of solving many of problems i've faced before, but right now i'm stucked in a bootloop without knowing what to do.
I tried to update my recovery TRWP from 2.4.x version to a 2.6.x version of it (to be able to flash KK 4.4 on KFHD), i've downloaded .img from TWRP web page and flashed via "Flashify" (which i read is the 2nd easiest way to do it), but when i rebooted the device, it got into a bootloop (?). It shows Kindle Fire, first in normal letters color set white-orange, then second color set white-blue, and after it is shown a new icon that says "FASTBOOT kindle fire" in orange... And that's pretty much it. It doesn't moves forward and i can't access recovery mode by pressing power button as usual.
Do you have any ideas of what to do in this scenario? If yes, please share. If don't, thank you anyway for reading the thread.

You can't just use anything when modding. TWRP has to come from Hashcode's thread because he modifies them for the Kindles`s. The other thing is the KFHD7 uses FireFlash. You can try flashing a Nandroid backup in TWRP or you will need a fastest cord and factory reset.

You should have used FireFlash or direct ADB. For now,you can try to restore a Nandroid backup and get the TWRP 2.6.3.1 image from Hashcode's thread. And use FireFlash this time!!
I can't help but notice that he said "twerks" in his original post :silly:

Thank you so very much for your helpful comment.
As i said in the first post, for any reason a can't access twrp recovery by pressing power button right after booting the device. I think a might need the fastboot cable.
Question: Original factory cable doesn't work in this case? y've noticed that i was triying to plug it to the pc with my samsung cable. does it make any real difference (Just comparing factory kindle cable and samsung cable)?.

yes there's a different in KFHD factory cable and samsung cable cause factory cable are made specially for KFHD and its support good speed then samsung cable/
qoute: lol i am a newbie
A factory cable (also known as a fast boot cable) is not the cable that came with your kindle it is a cable you have to make or order.
On the micro USB side it shorts pin one and pin four.
When this cable is plugged in your kindle will boot to a screen that says fast boot and stay there. In this special mode we can use commands from a PC to change the kindles settings.

Ok so I have a Kindle Fire HD that I had "hacked" to be a full Android tablet. It was flashed with CyanogenMod 'gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip'. I got the bright idea to update the CyanogenMod, and that's when it all went to sh!t. Now the thing only boots to Team Win Recovery Project.
Any suggestions on how I get past this? I attached a picture of what I am seeing when it boots.
Update twrp to 2.7, wipe system and your caches, flash the latest cm and the latest gapps.

I wiped the device from the TWRP v2.6.3.0 screen. Now the only thing it does is boot to the TWRP v2.6.3.0 screen I referenced in an earlier post. I have been reading posts/threads and downloading different files into a folder for 2 days now. The thing is that my PC is not recognizing the Kindle in Windows Explorer, it does recognize it in Device Manager though.
I am at a loss for how to get anything I have on my pc over to the Kindle if it isn't showing in Windows Explorer. Oh...and I do have the factory cable with me as well.
So now the stupid thing is stuck in a boot loop it appears. It just keeps coming up with the Kindle Fire, fire is in orange. It does this with the cable plugged in and without.
Hi,
I used KFHD SRT 1.3.5 to recover KFHD 7 (2012) from "Red Screen Of Death" successfully and it even updated itself to 7.5.1.
But it again developed RED screen falt within a day. Now even if I use different KFHD SRT versions right from 1.2 to 1.3.5 it is not recovering.
I also tried using bootloader, boot, recovery from Amazon 7.5.1 update.zip However it went till your Kindle cannot boot Reset or Reboot option screen.
Can I get system.img for 7.5.1 ? or is it due to some other fault.
Kindle Android Gurus, Please help
Using fastboot directly or KFHD SRT scripts, I can oem format, erase, flash xloader, bootloader, (Amazon/SRT) boot.img, (Amazon/SRT)recovery.img, (SRT) system.image successfully. but still the device does not boot up. Can expert throw light on this behavior.
How should I go about Is it hardware fault?
Now it has progressed upto TWRP but still no luck
Now I can go into TWRP after using MLO-pvt and u-boot-prod from Stock ROM 7.2.3 and then flashing 2nd Bootloader, TWRP recovery and freedom boot.img
However in mount menu, I am not able to mount data, cache, system partitions. Sometimes if I repair/format these partitions they can be mounted.
However it always say storage cannot be mounted....
Still struggling to get it back working. As stated earlier SRT worked only once and system got upgarded to 7.5.1 but now no version of SRT works.
I might be able to help
In TWRP project Hold down your power button and it should asy slide to unlock slide it then reboot back into recovery and it should work. if not click on wipe in twrp then advanced select everything then wipe then factory wipe then go back to advanced and wipe dalvik cache and cache then hold power button and slide to unlock then reboot back into recovery and try to flash something.
