Hi,
I'm still on 10h firmware in the UK and there's no OTA update available for me. The LG Support Tool doesn't include the T-Mobile P880 in the list of Supported Models and even after installing the drivers 'succesfully' it won't update.
What's the best way to upgrade the phone? Am I missing something or do I need to flash the Euro Open KDZ?
Thanks
Simon

+1 this. Then root the phone, unlock the bootloader and install CyanogenMod to set your phone free
Another option is:
1. Download the latest KDZ ROM you want from this link: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15, I recommend the first one (v20a euro open)
2. Install using KDZ method explained in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
3. Root the phone using this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688
4 Unlock bootloader using this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020, use the second method (the one with the script).
Thanks, I've upgraded to 20a so will root and unlock bootloader later. Is there any value in doing a factory reset to clean up everything now I'm on JB?

I have been using cm7 nightlies and miui for a while, but decided to get back on stock because of instabilties. So I restored a backup of stock from before I changed ROM using cwm.
Today I tried to install the newest update using the update function on the phone. It downloaded the file, but it says file corrupt...
What could be causing this?

Try to use the LG update tool on pc. This download the full Rom and install it on the phone. I think is ~400 MB.

I have now done this. Had to try 4-5 times...
Also, the Mobile support tool makes my computer VERY laggy. This sucks, LG!
To use LG update tool you need to erase CWM and restore original LG recovery. Search a bit here or on Modaco's site I've seen somewhere a zip file to do it from CWM.

in some rome which is based on lg official version it will update but it will make your phone with lg official rom
in case you are using cm 7 or other which are not lg rom officialy as base it will not update.
but if update in case of custom rom based on lg official rom you will lose root etc.
you will have latest lg official rom

Nope. There isn't. Its the same. Its stilk Android... and there is no need for an adb driver. You can root the easy way with THE BIG NOOB HOW TO! thread in OB General Category.

I have a question.
how is this kdz method different from bin flash method.
can i use kdz method for installing fresh rom or is it only for upgrade scenarios.
bit little confused between KDZ and Smart flash methodologies. well i had already used and using smart flash to flash my stock roms.
how will this kzd tool different from the present.
thanks a lot for the help in advance
Kdz update just replaces bootloader, kernel, recovery and system, but keep you user data. Your installed apps and their settings will remain and all the data on you internal sdcard.
If you use smartflash the phone got fully formated and the, so you lose all the installed apps and data on your inernal sdcard.
You can convert kdz to smartflash with AIO toolkit by extracting the kdz. If the kdz is starts with v30 you can convert it.

i had downloaded AIO tool for the same reason to convert to kdz. but as the antivirus scans it, it detects a virus and file gets deleted automatically. for the same reason i could not able to use the AIO tool.
if you have a AIO tool free from virus , please share us, so that i can use it.
thanks for the previous reply. sure it helped me in understanding the difference between both

Hello. I have one question. I am having an optimus 4x and i am running v20a....262.001. First of all i loved cyanogen on my old optimus 2x and i want to use it also on my optimus 4x. I know that i have to use euro open v20a,to unlock bootlader, so this is what i have tried: downgrade to v10,update to v20a euro open though kdz updater, and the results?? Cmv was still there(do not know how ). I believe some of my drivers are to right(btw, i am using win7 64x). I am not the best linux user, but i think i can handle them... so i was wondering how can the hole operation be done from linux environment. I use linux on an external usb flash, so i can boot it whenever i want. So iwas hopping that someone could guide me to do the downgrade, and the upgrade the rooting, the recovery install, the bootloader unlock and the cyanogen install.... all from linux environment.....  THANK YOU REALLYYYYY FOR YOUR TIME IN ADVANCE!!!!

You can't down- and upgrade on Linux. KDZ flashing only works on Windows.

there is a lovely guide here on xda about how to downgrade, just search for it, follow it step by step and you'll be fine
i have a P970H V10d and i have no clue how to root and change his rom, what i did found is this method:
Method 2 - Froyo (V1XX)
Required : installed USB drivers
Enable USB Debugging (settings > apps > development)
Plug the phone, launch BlackJack and follow instructions
Allow 127.0.0.1 connection if prompted by AVs / Firewalls. Read BlackJack's intro for more details.

and it's worked(i downloaded "Root Checker" from the play store and it now says "Congratulations! this device has root access")
but what i do now? how i install a new rom? (4.1+ i prefer, or anything that 4+ that not freeze the phone, because the current 2.2.2 is freeze like hell) and what rom does works for me? it matters if the rom is for P970 or P970h?
Now you just need a custom recovery and you can start flashing Roms. P970-P970h all the same jazz.

ok i runned CWMT6 from UPK and now from ADB i entered to recovery and i choose a rom(cm10.0 is stable so i will use him for now) and installed lighty gapps
and something else, is it better to update to a rom that is based on v20 then v10? or even v30? because the baseband is still v10d on my phone, and all the roms that i see here is based on at least v20(zeus) so i can install their rom even that my phone is still v10d?
Yeah you can still use later Roms. Its just your baseband will be outdated. You can quickly flash a new baseband with smartflash though.
