I'm stuck on this screen in the "usb host mode":

I allowed it a full hour or so and nothing happened.
Took the battery out and gave it another try -- same result.
Since this whole thing involves using USB, I don't understand why it's saying serial.
Found an old topic about a similar problem on a different phone --- the person solved it saying it was a problem with the connector:
When I try to reinstall the ROM also (Power + OK button) I am getting "serial" showing at the bottom of the screen instead of "USB"

On the phone itself the female usb connector had 2 of the 5 "connectors" entangled with each other inside.

I've pretty thoroughly inspected all the usb cables/connectors and they all look fine.
Edit: I have also used Zune software to transfer pictures etc. from the phone to my computer with no problem over USB.
Any suggestions? Thank you.
Bump.
I'm really lost here. I've tried countless flash drives and microsd cards/adapters. I am thinking of making a new cable, but I really think that the cable I have now is fine (since it recognizes that something is connected). One time I even tried formatting a flash drive to NTFS just to see what it would say --- it detected the flashdrive but then said that there is no ROM available. Of course when it's formatted to FAT32, it gets stuck on the "checking... serial" screen.
Check list
You must use
Y-Cable
Card reader
1GB MicroSD or SD (don't bother with 2GB)
you can try with USB drives, but I haven't tried myself, some people claim it worked, again: 1GB usb drive

Noob question for sure, sorry. I'm studying up and getting ready to root my Droid Bonic. I have installed the Motorola Device Manger for drivers. I checked the device manager per the instructions and yes with debugging on and the Media device (MTP) on the ADB Interface, "Mot Composite ADB Interface" does show in my device manager but I see there's an issue of some sort with "Portable Devices/ MTP !" Should I be concerned with this?

I'm thinking it should say "Droid Bionic" but not sure how to get it to show?? Maybe it wont in xp?
Any idea's??

XP has a really hard time enumerating and loading the drivers for the MTP device. You can basically ignore it for the purposes of manipulating the phone as all the other interfaces for fast boot and diagnostic mode etc. load properly and function under XP.

[Tutorial] Easy Steps to install An 65xx preloader Driver in Windows 8 / 8.1
Here is what I figured and did to get around it.
First, press win + I to launch the charm bar, and click Change PC Settings at the bottom.
Then, go to General, and scroll to the bottom of the page, click Restart Now button under Advanced Startup section. Remember to save all your work first before clicking it.
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[Note that on Windows 8.1, the Advanced Startup option has moved to Update and recovery section under Recovery]
The computer reboots to a startup menu, in which click Troubleshoot.
And click Advanced Options at next screen.
Choose Startup Settings next,
And click Restart button.
The computer reboots and prompts another menu to choose. One of the items is to Disable driver signature enforcement. Press number 7 or F7 to continue booting to Windows 8 with digital sign enforcement disabled.
And then I was able to get the Windows Security warning window offering me to install this driver anyway.
I would suggest changing the UAC settings first to see if the Install Anyway window prompts out. The solution showing off in this post should be the last resort to try out. And make sure the driver you are about to install is safe, though not digitally signed.
Extract the USB_VCOM_Driver.rar file and leave it
After that Open Device Manager and leave it open!
Switched off your phone remove battery connect now on the PC, you should now see a MT65xx preloader in the Device Manager.
Right click on that and install/update drivers show the path where you extract the folder and click Done.
Now you can restore or flash firmware using SP Flash Tool...............
Happy Flashing..

Hi guys,
The screen on my Z3C is broken.
I brought it to a repair shop, but they were unable to repair it, they've tried 4 different displays and the touch-input would not work.
So now i'm trying to recover my data, but i was using the Android encryption.
I can boot the phone into recovery and connect to it via ADB.
Is there any way to unlock and mount the data partition in the adb shell?
Or is there a way to unlock and mount the partition on my linux box if i dump the partition to my computer via netcat?
Thanks in advance!
If you can boot up normally you can connect a mouse with an USB OTG cable and unlock your phone that way.

You have any tips if connecting mouse doesn't do anything? My Z3c has broken screen and only 1/3 of the screen is accepting touch, so I can't unlock the pattern to acces my files on PC. Phone doesn't have USB debugging enabled so I can't use ADB to "hack off" the pattern.

Just remove this capacitor and make jumper in place of it.
100% working solution. It's just safety capacitor and sometimes it fails at screen changing.
You just need to take of shield from motherboard, cut out one corner to expose this capacitor, desolder it and make jumper.
Give me some info if it helped.
Hey there,
I've had this issue since I updated to lollipop and it's been really bothering me. When I try to connect my phone to laptop via usb it connects and I can see phone in device manager, but I can't access the files and media. It just says it's charging and that's it. If I click on it nothing happens. I have tried lot of things, usb debugging on , tried LG PC suit, tried some usb drivers etc. So basically PC recognizes phone, but I can't get to MTP mode and access the files. Is there anything I can try or do?? This is really annoying issue. :crying:

Go to settings -> Storage -> Hit the three dots in top right -> USB Computer Connection -> See if you have MTP box checked.
Thank you. Though, there is no menu when I open storage, this is all I can see. No three dots.

Try a factory reset maybe that helps.
Hey guys,
First time trying to flash a rom (using Windows 11). At first the Razer phone 2 showed up in my device manager as 'Android' with a yellow warning sign. I managed sort that by installing the latest android_winusb.inf drivers, and it shows up in the device manager As oculus Device>Andriod Composite ADB interface (not sure why it's under the Oculus tab, I didn't use the Oculus driver).
I've tried all three drivers (ADB Interface, Bootloader interface and Composite ADB interface) and the results are the same. When I send the 'fastboot devices' command, it will report
''???????????? fastboot'' and then it switches to the razer logo with 'Powered by Android' and 'Press any key to shutdown' text and is no longer in fastboot mode.
I assume the question marks are supposed to be a serial number.
Anyone have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?
FYI, I've also tried 2 usb 2 ports, a usb 3, and two different Type A to C cables.
This happened to me. You need to run Powershell/Terminal in the path of the folder containing the Platform Tools. See example photo.

Thank you so much for your help, I will give this a try.
There is some sort of issue with Windows 11 and arter97-r12 and -r13. I was going to do a fresh install of SMR3 because of a few software issues and Google Play app updates. When booted into Recovery and making backups and moving files, I ended the session and rebooted "System" from TWRP boot menu. Upon execution, TWRP warned me there was no OS installed.. WORST NIGHTMARES. I've finally gotten it recovered, but what a MESS. Download platform-tools v33.0.1 from google and follow the directions from Razer to properly install ADB Fastboot drivers. See links below:
Platform-Tools: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Razer Driver installation: PDF attached
UPDATE: I found the issue was NOT necessarily my version of platform tools, It was my USB port. I am using a Surface Pro7 and tried multiple different cable and both the USB-C and -A ports to no avail. Would not communicate in fastboot mode, BUT, I then used a 4-port USB 3.0 hub, connected the phone, and all ADB/fastboot commands and communication functioned normally. once I figured this out, I was able to reinstall the proper drivers on Windows.
Same problem, u PC AMD?
