I just flashed S5570 MJKT3 and I really want to root it because there is an unwanted application that I want to remove.
I cannot root using universal gb root. It's saying that successfully rooted but when I open the device, there's no superuser. but there's 1 application installed and it's just a root checker. I guess the SuperUser app won't install.
And, I tried using ADB but I can't mount /system and /data. (i can mount when I format the /system but the firmware/rom will not work/boot up
I'm in Samsung Galaxy Next S5570 MJKT3.

Hi,
I cannot get root access on my terminal. The following is my configuration:
Froyo 2.2
PC: GT-I9000HKYTIM
PDA: GT-I9000AIJP6
PHONE: GT-I9000XXJPP
CSC: GT-I9000TIMJP4
Recovery : 3e
I installed speedmod k13e, but i cannot enable tweaks, bln and root.
Whenever i enter recovery mod i try to install root (simple) from the speedmod/ulk menu, at the end of the process it says "Done!" but when i reboot titanium backup complains that i do not have root privilegies.
Furthermore when i try to enable tweaks, every tweak i choose prompts "disabled". The same thing happend when i try to turn on BLN.
Any idea?
Thank you for you help.
Mattia.
Check if you actually have the Super User app on your phone.
If you don't have it download busybox from TitaniumBackup.
The Froyo Speedmod is ultrastable so this is quite odd to me.
If neither of this works I think you might have to reflash the kernel.
Hi,
thank you for your reply.
I did not have the superuser app installed and i did not find a way to download busybox from TitaniumBackup.
So i installed both superuser and busybox from the market.
I run superuser, then TitaniumBackup, but it does not start and it does not ask for root privileges.
In the same way i run superuser, then the BusyBox installer, but it does not start and it does not ask for root privileges.
I reflashed SpeedMod, but nothing has changed.
I forgot to say taht my sgs is branded and i did not unbrand it. Other things i should try?
Mattia.
I also tried with SpeedMod k12u and CFRoot 1.2 for JP6.
No progress made: no root privilegies.
I did one small step forward: i managed to correctly install busybox with CFRoot. I've never been able to do it with SpeedMod.
Could it be because the system ROM is full?
Mattia.

yea I guess your /system probably is full. to change that delete for example google maps (you can just download and install it from the market) from /system/app with root explorer or go into recovery and convert the filesystem the conversion will give you some more free space even if you change back to rfs afterwards
I did it using ADB Shell.
From the shell both su and busybox worked like a charm.
So eventually i managed to do my backups!

Did you tty asking this on the rom's thread? It may be a known bug of this rom. I'm now on paranoid and also tried cm9 and don't have this problem.
Hope this helps...

did you wipe dalvik cache?
do post this in the rom's thread.
I did... sorry for posting it over here because as I have flashed other ROM, i have always faced the partial root issue, i do not think it is rom specific as I have gone onto kingdroid, criskelo and alba and all faced the same issue before...
EDIT: I realised something very perculiar, I used ES explorer and Root Browser lite...they didnt seem to ask for superSU permission like they did in GB rom.... that could be the reason?? bt I have no idea why they dont prompt as such

Check in the Superuser app for settings regarding prompt messages. Maybe sone option is selected there!

I am facing the exact same problem, no matter what I try I can't get rw on /system
$ adb remount
remount failed: Read-only file system
[email protected]:/ # mount -o rw,remount /system
[email protected]:/ # mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw,relatime)
...
/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 on /system type ext4 (ro,relatime,barrier=0,data=ordered)
Any help will be appreciated. Currently on TMT 1.3 with CF-Root kernel, Mobile ODIN Pro works fine and SuperSU shows all apps getting root, but /system is stuck in ro
Try using rom toolbox and it has root browser embedded

stupid stupid question, but I keep getting partial root (adb su shows # but cannot write to /system)
Root Explorer as well as mount system rw app both cannot mount system as rw
SuperSU binary updates fine
However, what is odd is that I have sucessfully deleted system apps (eg phone.apk), via TIB and they do not run on the phone anymore. I have also occasionally been able to restore them via TIB
I have tried flashing CF-Root LRB via odin, same result.
I have tried flashing Abyssnote42 and then flashing the ROM via abyssnote, but still get partial root.
I don't get it- according to the post in this forum, all I needed to do was flash CF-Root and that should have done it.
I have Mobile Odin Pro, but there are no .tar files which I can find for ICS (everyone is doing CWM releases).
Also, AdAway does not seem to be able to write to the hosts file, which imo seems like it is unable to write to /system.
The very few times TIB has been able to mount /system/app as rw and I have overwritten files, nothing has changed (so it looks like they were never overwritten in the first place).
I want root to be able to write to /system, not use 'kewl root appz'. (Trying to overwrite phone.apk and contacts.apk)... i've also tried making CWM flashable zips but CWM won't flash them...
I have been able to get GB full root by flashing pre-rooted stock, this is all for Kingdroid ICS 4.0.4
Am I missing something? Can CWM install a rooted kernel? Should an Odin flash of a rooted kernel get full root? Sorry for the dumb question, but I really tried
I had same problem tried almost everything and in the last had to flash stock GB to start over again.

Flash back to GB and root and then come to CM9 or CM10.

Last few months ago im also having the same problem. No matter which method i had try..dr.ketan...start from gb...no luck at all. The partial root problem still remain.
Luckily i met someone to gv me help. And his method 100% works.
Please report back if u able obtain full root. Other wise i will gv u the proper step to obtain full root.
Good luck

Maybe the problem lies with busybox. Try getting busybox binary updated. I've read some people can do it by installing busybox from Google Play. For my case usually I inject busybox directly via CWM, but it is potentially dangerous so I won't share it here.
When I had this prob, I tried everything bo no luck, so flashed gb again.

I am having exactly this problem.
I have tried everything over and over and still partial root.
I would REALLY appreciate your help with getting full root on my note.
u need to give more details. what rom are u on?
Just flashed Sinless ROM and although it came with SuperSU by chainfire. I decided I wanted to remove it and install superuser by clockworkmod instead. For some reason superuser app didn't actually root the system, so I attempted to uninstall it and reinstall SuperSU. This is where I'm stuck. I cannot remove superuser app no matter what I try, even deleting it with a file manager or disabling the app. Anyone have any ideas? Really need my root back. Thanks

If it's in /system, you need root to remove it (which you don't have). I suggest going into recovery and then flashing Superuser with the SU binaries that allows root to work.

Tried this and that is what I am attempting to remove from the system to no avail. Anything else I can try? I don't know why it won't give superuser access either.

So flashing that zip didn't flash the SU binaries either?
Try flashing this then: http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
The main important thing is to get the SU binaries installed to allow the superuser apps to work. Once you have that installed try to change superuser apps again (do not choose the full remove option as that will also remove the SU binaries).
Another option is to try flash the ROM again.

Just did this buy with v.1.8 of SuperSU and everything worked perfect. Thank you
I received my amazon7 5gen tablet on 5.1.1. I rooted it and used flashfire.27 to install slimlp5.1.1 on it. I backed up slimlp like I did my orginal firerom with flashfire.27 and installed cm12(5.1.1) I did a wipe, cm12.zip and picogapps.zip and slid the wipe to the top of the list. All went well except I now have no root access. after installing Flashfire it is asking for root I tried installing SuperSu from the appstore but it woud not work using the "normal" way. twrp is not installed so that is not an option? was I supposed to flash supersu.zip during install?
thanks in advance.
edit: never mind I found enable root access in developer options.
Been there. Super Tool can help you root the device as if you had the stock ROM. If you run into any issues, run the batch commands by hand. In general it looks like this:
Use fastboot commands to temporarily unlock the kernel
Remount the system partion as read/write
Copy over the 5 files required for root
Allow execute privs and run root_fire.sh
After you have root, you can use FlashFire for other zip flashing such as Xposed or other ROMs.
Worst case scenario: sideload the 5.1.1 stock FW and start from scratch, remembering to flash CM+GApps+SU this time Good luck!
