Transfer data to SD card notification - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, does anyone knows the name of the service or app that shows that annoying notification about storage usage and tells to transfer data to SD card?
I'm thinking about freezing it to stop the notifications...
I tried 2 ways to expand memory, link2sd and a tutorial to emulate SD card just like it was internal storage with a script command. None of them worked, both gave me bootloop in the end and I had to downgrade to fw. 434, wipe all my data, root again, install dual recovery, flash. 253 pre rooted rom again... Restore all my apps again... I would love to have more space available, but I'm really afraid to try again.
Does anyone manage to get Link2sd working on xperia Z. 253 rooted locked bootloader?
My last phone was an Xperia Arc. I had less than 512mb of free storage on the phone. I should be happy with 16GB, but I think Xperia Arc was better because at least I could transfer apps to SD and it was possible to use link2sd to link apps to SD card....

Hi, when the notification shows up long press on it to display "app info". tap on that, this will take you to the "Memory" app info page, then untick "show notifications".

Hello, does anybody know how to disable it on lollipop? There is no option to untick "show notification" now

just found solutions for lollipop
copied straight from someone else, probably need root, haven't tried it myself yet
"try using adb to hide com.sonymobile.storagechecker so the commands should be
adb shell pm hide com.sonymobile.storagechecker
I don't know if it works this way, I disabled it using titanium backup since I'm rooted. As far as I can tell it should work though, no root needed."

go to setting - notification

"Application is not installed on your phone" after moving apps to SD on Froyo
hey guys,
first of all i searched the forum but didn't find anything like my problem
(i run Froyo on non-rooted Nexus One)
so, i moved several apps to SD using that ADB command to change default install location from internal memory to SD. everything worked and apps were running smoothly. then my battery went dead during the night and when i switched the phone on in the morning i see icons with green robot for all those apps moved to SD. and if i try running them i get "application is not installed on your phone" error message. thou apps are still on the SD. it seems that my phone erased the part of the data of those apps stored in the internal memory.. which sucks.
anyone faced such a problem so far? i wonder if it's possible to solve without reinstalling all the apps..
many thx in advance.
Cheers.
It happened on my phone too, just removed battery for few minutes.
Looks like a bug.

Forcing the apps to install to SD will break them. In order for applications to be successfully moved to the SD card in Froyo, they must have an appropriate flag set on them from the developer. If the application isn't updated with this flag, it will not work by default from the SD card.
The ADB command should work fine (I think) once all apps are updated, but until then it will just cause problems like what you're seeing.

Not sure, as I'm currently unable to access the market (being deployed will do that). There is a thread on the subject though, which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687659

THanks man!!
I set the installation location to SD via ADB and restored my apps via Titanium Backup. Here's what I found.
Apps will occasionly seem to have dissapeared (from App page + download page from the market) seems intermittent and seems to correct itself.
If you mount the SD card via USB then obviously your phone can't access the apps, after unmounting it takes a little time for the system to correct itself (my recommendation is to turn the screen off and on again).
Keep any widget app you are going to use on the phone's storage (i.e. install app, then move it back to phone via the 'applications' menu).
Shortcuts to apps will revert to a generic green/white robot icon, but they will still work (not when the SD card is mounted via usb though obviously).
Basically any application/live wallpapers or anything else that you expect to run live (constantly) should be moved to the phones memory.

This is how I've been using it, also when you reboot the phone, I give it a minute to calculate the applications on the SD card and load them into the phone memory. (Notice if you go to App settings while you can't access the application, they are all there and being "calculated."

[SOLVED] Application Install Button Blocked!

My X8 running GingerDX 017 has this problem. doixanh said its not his rom problem, so i ask here.
SOLUTION: Dont use Screen Sensor Apps. Thanks ilarisk
When installing an apk, I will get 2 options. "Install" and "Cancel"
I cannot press the "Install", the button is somehow blocked. But i can press cancel.
Its not the apk problem cause the apk managed to install before. And this problem happens to all apk at the same time.
The rom is very clean, stock + DXmodules + DXhotfix + ArcMiniMusicPlayer. No freezing apps.
Restarting phone dont help.
Full wipe solves this for awhile. After next boot problem came back.
Maybe your SD card blocks the installation.
You should try to format your SD card(make a backup 1st)...
I don't guarantee this will work!
It's just a suggestion!
have u tried looking into CM Settings > Application > Install Location?
mayb u can give some screenshot?and try format your SD card fisrt.
I also think it's the SD card.. Do you have more than one partition?
Format it and reinstall the ROM.
If you backup your SD, save only the things you really need.

But this problem only exist in GingerDX, other ROMS i have no problem. Its SDCARD problem?
And My SDcard is 8GB, class 4, Single partition.
Screenshot, describe first, I cant press the Install button, when pressed, its the same as not pressing it(blocked). Only Cancel button can be pressed. Hope u can imagine it.

[Q] The mysterious case of the disappearing icon

Dear All
Can anyone suggest why an icon would keep getting deleted from the Galaxy Note Home screen after every reboot?
I have GPS Speedometer from Linxmap installed. It works fine but whenever I copy the shortcut icon to my Home screen, it gets deleted after every re-boot. No other app behaves this way. I have asked the dev but have yet to hear from them.
Could this be a bug in the custom ROM I'm using? Hard to believe as only the one app is affected but you never know.
Galaxy Note GT-N7000 + Ultimate N7000 XXLS7 JellyBean 4.1.2v4
Thanks in advance

yes it has has to the icons moved to sd. The bug in the latest release of ics I guess has carried to jb now. Hopefully it will not be there in official release.
move to app to internal storage.
I can see the app info but not sure what info I should be looking for.
Total 6.39MB
Application 1.11MB
USB Storage app 5.12MB
Data 164KB
SD cad 0.00B
I have not attempted to change the default installation. I tried searching for the apk file but can't find where that is stored.

just below where it shows SD card , there is a Button.. it should say "Move to Device Storage".. does it ?.. if yes then press it,.and try the shortcut again.. else report back.
I've done that and it appears to work. The icon is still there after a re-boot. Many thanks indeed.
I've never messed with those settings as I haven't yet learned exactly what they are for.
If it's not too much to ask to ask, could you give a brief explanation of these two settings and when/why I would use them?
Ok, I can see that in the case of this one app, it was stored on the sdcard (which I thought meant the internal sd card of the phone) and for some reason this caused it to get deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Having clicked on Move to Device Storage, I see that the app file has turned up in data/app and no longer gets deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Sorry for asking dumb questions but many thanks for fixing my problem.

Some apps get directly installed to ext SD card. This causes the app to relocate itself after a reboot. Not only the homescreen shortcut but if the app is placed in a folder in the app drawer screen, it will come out and replace itself somewhere else. this has been found as a bug in the latest release of ICS 4.0.4 and seems its still there in the leaked JB version.
If used "Move to SD card" : all will store the data on external SD card. it wont be visible via the phone exolorer until you remove the sd and connect to a PC. You can use it for saving space on internal storage but the app icon will keep relocating itself.
That helps a lot. Thank you for your patience.

Just to clarify: The app itself is not being "relocated" on a reboot, the app stays where it was installed (SD Card), and you can still launch it by finding the icon in the app drawer.
The problem is that the icon shortcut vanishes from the TW launcher.
I have a work-around using Tasker, but I sure wish Samsung would fix this.

try changing default install location. possible with normal device options, dont remember where. or else use app2sd to change it.
although i have the same error, when trying to install anything on extsdcard (with enough room on it), with faria rom v5.1.
with leatherface v2 i didnt have the problem if i remember correct.
update:
i still have the problem too.
wiped dalvik, factory reset multiple times, cleaned odin files, although faria rom is also using odex?
phone works fine, but i only have 4,5gb max internal (fused internal and sdcard).
and i cant install anything to external. i selected the options *install to: autoselect by android, internal, or external.
i tried it with more then one app, like rom toolbox pro.
i also noticed that chaning it it one app, correctly alters it in another.
i asked this in q&a, and i read what i can searching the whole forum. still i wuold really like to know:
-is 4,5 gb max combined/fused is normal for s3 mini +faria rom)?
-is it normal to have .obb partition completely empty, even having installed multipple apps?
its 402mb, totally free.
And i have other partitions also 402 mb, totally free.
-/cache partitions remains at 14mb, whatever happends, even after changing usage of cache heavier and lighter.
-cant install anything on extsdcard.
-/mnt/sdcard shows in that directory, with root explorer, as linked to sdcard0.
same in root:/sdcard (not sdcard0!) linked to -> sdcard0
but it has no apps in it. and only some folders.
?i dont know if i am correct in assuming that "->" symbol in root explorer means: linked to.

thx for yuor reply.
no that is not what i mean exactly.
i do use link2sd now, to use my extsd 2nd partition. but it gives an error: installl_failed_insufficent storage.
even when i put it on auto.
when pressing create link, i get: i/o error.
what do you have selected to auto move to 2nd partition?
my primary question, has to do with the fused internal+sdcard phone memory (so not extsdcard), of faria firmware.
Phone sees the fused internal as,... internal memory.
and the phone sees my extsdcard as external sdcard.
i presumed the reason for this is to be able to install apps on ext sd too, by default. (so without link2sd or others).
because the problem as i see it is:
now i have less phone storage.
i still cannot install to external sd card.
i would really like to know
- what should be the benefits of this fused memory? why did faria do this?
- beacause now i have less or same memory, and no benefits.
-what i have to change in system mount, or fuse, to get back original non-fused.
- And/Or, how i can enable extsdcard to install to it too.
thanks
Have you tried with an ext4 partition on your external sd, for link2sd? I've read somewhere that it worked.
Otherwise Directorybind do work. I've binded the whole Android folder without any problems at all :good:

hi,
actually i do also had a the same problem with my cell phone as of yours... so i just wanna know if we had comeout with those problem.... please suggest me a solution too if you had solved those problem.
please do help...
found a solution (maybe?)
I personally had the same problem right after flashing a new rom on my i9100. I read through the script amd it was quite literally just unmounting and mounting the sd card again. I wasn't sure how it could possibly be a simple matter of mounting the sd card but it worked so I'm okay with that.
If you're on 4.1.2 then you can probably manually unmount and mount the sd card by going into system settings, storage and scroll down to sd card for unmount. It'll take a short while to unmount and another to mount again and check for errors. Not sure if you have to do this will ever boot but it beats not ever installing anything, right?

Xperia Z1 and sd card

Hi, before buying The Xperia Z1, i would like to know if the device allows "Move to sd card" for apps and games, anyone can help?
Nope not yet maybe in the next update
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
you can write your own scripts app to sd or use titanium app to link folders. there are plenty of work around with out app. but you need to know adb and other scripts for it to work. if you code and understands linux, you should know some work around for app to sd. Of course you Need Unlocked Bootloader and Full Root access. linking apps with folders, direction can be used similar to Google Music folder link to external SD.
oh btw, you can choose any phone, not just Z1. cause most runs with OEM customized UI with limitations.
your best bet is running a Phone with stock closely related with out restriction.
