HTC One Camera Click - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys/Girls,
Some times when I open the Camera app I hear the back camera click. It does not always happen but it's something I've never had with a phone or any camera for that matter. Its the same noise as if you had tapped the back of the phone and the camera rattles.
Anyone know what that could be?

I have both of those sounds (clicking when opening the camera app, and a slight rattle if I tap the back of the phone around the camera lens,) and always wondered about them too.

Mine only clicks about 10% of the time. Maybe the lens is out of alignment and the focus motor is snapping it back.

so...should i be worried?
So should i be worried about these clicks? or should i rma it?

No worry htc camera move. So the lense is adjusting.
Tap the screen while in camera mode and see if that is the same sound.

D2 rattles near camera

Does anyone else's Diamond2 rattle at the top near the cemera? If I tap it it sounds as though there is something like a ball bearing inside. Could it be the g sensor?
Everything works OK though.

Yep, Mine is the same. I think the vibrate motor is in that area too so it could be that rattling.
Its the camera lens, HTC autofocus camera lenses move about a bit until the autofocus mechanism is active. Nothing to worry about, my kaiser and Touch HD did the same.
shuflie, you are correct, it does seem to be the autofocus camera lens that is rattling. When I take a picture in a quiet room I can hear the lens "bounce" back to its resting place after the shutter is released. This is the same noice I can hear when I tap the phone. I don't like hearing the phone rattling like that but I suppose I am pleased it's nothing to worry about.
The autofocus lens in my cruise was totally silent.
I also have this with my HTC Diamond. Nothing to worry about.

Camera module rattle

I recently noticed that my camera module makes rattles when I barely shake my phone. It almost sounds like there is something loose inside near the camera module. With the s pen out, it still rattles the same, so it's not the s pen.
Thanks.

That's the OIS Lens making that noise. All OIS camera lens do that until the camera is activated. Launch the camera app and you'll see the nose goes away. If it doesn't go away then the magnetic stabilizer is no longer functioning as it should. It should activate and hold the lens in place and modify the wave length strength it receives based on what the camera is focusing on.

Thank you. It's doesn't rattle with camera app opened.

buzzing/small vibration after opening camera

guys i am on latest oos 4.5.0 right now
since i updated to 4.1.7 i started to have auto.focus issues with the camera
whenever i open the camera app it is always out of focus and when i tap to focus it still does not get focused and produces a slight vibration
after 10 seconds the focus finally begins to work
is this normal ?
edit: i also tried opening the camera app with the phone kept near my ear with the camera facing the ear so that it has difficulty focusing it
i could hear the buzzing sound for 3 to 4 seconds this time
can someone plz confirm if this happens with their device as well
That's the auto focus motor that's probably broken/stuck, it's just moving in its position causing the sound you hear.
my phone is still under warranty
i guess i will have to go for a camera unit replacement then
No dude this **** happened to me too right after I downloaded the new update. I thought it was sjust me going crazy but it's so intense that my phone refuses to focus.
yup the phone really does not focus however i got my camera replaced from the service centre and now it's working great
Should I just try replacing the camera myself or do I have to send it in? Kinda just sucks really

Replacement procedure did not take more than an hour so I would recommend you to go to the service centre and get it replaced from OnePlus itself

Question Excessive hardware sound when flipping the phone

It's been two days since I started using this phone.
Today, I can hear an excessive sound coming either from the camera lens or the front speaker. {Noise heard better from front side of the phone}
This happens when you try to shake or flip the phone even gently. I know usually the camera lens on every phone makes a little noise.
But this is extreme. It's almost like there's a tiny piece of hardware broken inside and it's moving even if you shake the phone gently. I either did not observe this issue or it wasn't there for the first two days.
Can anyone confirm if it's the same?

Yes, even in mine there is a kind of muffled noise
Hi guys.
It's from the cameras. If you try this with the camera app open you will see that the noise stops.
Optical Image Stabilisation most likely. Camera lens can move to handle shake.
I don't hear anything noticeable from mine. Just a VERY slight muffled noise if I shake it while holding the lenses right up to my ear, but nothing I would notice if I wasn't specifically trying to find a noise.

Question Strong rattling sound when shaking the phone

So by complete accident I noticed that whenever I shake my 11 Ultra, a strong rattling sound comes from the top portion of the phone, like there's something loose inside. After a bit of testing I assumed it's the OIS from the wide angle, since whenever that camera is used, and the OIS kicks in, the sound when shaken becomes very small. But anyways, is this normal?
This may sound like a strange request, but please, could you people shake your device and give a feedback here to know if it's just my unit?
It’s normal.
Ah ah by accident too, i noticed the same few days ago.
And when i change camera lens in pro mode, i have a little sound similary as haptic.
That's reassuring, i am not the only one. But why we have this thing ?
It's the camera and OIS. It's normal.

It’s the stabilization module inside the camera shaking. It’s a moving part so it’s basically floating when you’re not using it. When you shake the phone you make it move inside the camera, thus the rattling noise.
And obviously, it’s for stabilizing the camera when you’re moving so you don’t get the blur effect.
Thank you guys for your feedback, good to know that it's normal. Have a nice day everyone!
