Hi, i bought recently my Note and stock ICS is extremely annoying.I would like to flash new custom rom maybe JB but the problem is that my kernel is LPY and i read how lpy kernels have bug that would brick my phone bla bla..
So my question is, how safe is to flash new safe kernel and then flash custom rom? What do you suggest to do? Thx.
My kernel version:
Android: 4.0.3
Baseband version: N7000XXLPT
Kernel version: 3.0.15-N7000XXLPY-CL474507 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT...2012
Build number: IML74K.XXLPY
Download this onto yor external SD card:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/a860nadrjigsl98/PhilZ-cwm6-XXLPY-XEN-3.99-signed.zip
Once you have downloaded it (don't extract it) install it through the stock recovery. After this you will have a brick free kernel.
To install a ROM then just follow the steps in the ROM thread (wipe system, cache, dalvik, preload, data etc) and install. That usually does it.

Thanks, I forgot to mention that I rooted my phone via odin, CWM v5. Would that affect on installing?
no, it won't.

Hello everyone at XDA, I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT i9000 from the store Mediamarket.
I want to have MIUI on my device, so I want to know exactly how to get it (how to root it, how to add cwm, add a custom rum, put miui in.. yeah everything I need).
Right now I got a stock rom, here is some info:
When i go to Settings-> About phone, i get this:
Code:
Model Number: GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Basband version: I9000XXJVO
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
When I call *#1234# i get this:
Code:
PDA: I9000XWJVH
PHONE: I9000XXJVO
CSC: I9000NEEJV3
Build Info: Wed May 4 18:03:59 KST 2011
So please everyone, tell me how to put MIUI inside (so I can understand it) of this awesome phone!
At first you have to have a Gingerbread-firmware as a base - you have that.
Then you need to flash a kernel that includes CWM (just flash it with Odin, you have to put the file into the PDA-field).
Last step: copy MIUI.zip onto your internal sdcard and flash it through CWM (install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> MIUI.zip -> Yes).
So first step is done just by doing nothing.. awesome
Do you mean I don't need to root? Can you give me a link to the kernel i should flash?
Can i flash this http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...tion-edition-10-1-gt-i9000-only-for-now.3237/ with Odin?

Well you can but that is a whole ROM not just a kernal, You can get darkcore from that website, or look at the kernals here which also has darkcore
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196704
This is a stock based kernal that i have used before, and from chainfire a v.reliable source, it should have what you need...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
then flash the zip through recovery, but obviously follow the instructions from the thread you get the MIUI ROM from as it maybe be slightly different
My Galaxy S
Firmware: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: I9000XXJVU
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XJVU-CL851880
Problem: I want to install MyICS 2.2.1.3 using the update mode of my phone, but when I go to install from SD card and I select the ZIP file, it says ESignature vertifaction failed.
I did install a previous rom before, but I can't install any other.. I am currently stuck and I do have Odin the 1.3v and the 1.8.2v, someone said I needed to root my CF, but I didn't not find any option in Odin to do that.
I would love to get this ROM running and I am also kinda a noob, when it comes too kernels.
How To Replace a Kernal?
How to Bypass or Disable the E-signature vertification
Thanks in advance ;D
Here is the cf-root thread. All info is in here - which cf-root file, how to do it with odin etc.

This will root your device and allow you install custom roms through CWM.

Hi!
You have the exact same system information as me, so I am just wondering if you could give me a link or tell me what file you used to root?

flash stock firmware via odin, the stock firmware can be found stickied in the original development section, it also has a picture guide for you to follow
or try and flash the odin version of the JB leaks, these might be enough to recover your phone and continue from there.
Ok and i don´t have to change the kernel,
And i have this list http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Is there one for holland or do i have to download europe
if there is no holland one, try the next best thing, German ? or even Europe,
it shouldnt really matter to much if you decide to flash a custom rom straght after.
and you wont have to change kernel before the flash, but you should after the flash as the stock kernel isnt safe.
Ok it have worked
But now if i want to install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831270&highlight=darkyrom
this, do i need then a other kernel or ?
because if i do now i think i get the same result
i have a hydracore v7 kernel on my sd card do i have to install that to get it working ?
Thanks for the help with the other problem
I have now flashed PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRT-DBT-3.1-signed
Can I now install safe AllianceROM N7000 ICS Final ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831270&highlight=darkyrom - Link
my Baseband is N7000XXLRK
my Kernel is 3.0.15-1068447
[email protected] #3
And my build is IMM76D.XXLRT
Yes
Not sure if the brick bug still applies to JB.
I inherited this phone from a friend and want to format data/wipe/reset it.
I used the "got brickbug?" app to check if my eMMC chip was vulnerable and it is (Type: VYL00M).
Model Number: GT-N7000
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: N7000XXLT3
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-1103517, [email protected] #3, SMP PEEMT Mon Apr 1 21:33:52 KST 2013
Build Number: JZO54K.N7000XXLT4
Is it safe to boot in recovery and wipe data/factory reset? If not, what is an alternative "safe" method I can use?
Help (or redirection) would be appreciated!
There have been no cases of a brick bug on JB so I would say it is safe... however if you want to be sure then flash Philz kernel (got to the original android development) and flash it through recovery. After that you will have a safe kernel and a custom recovery.
If You want to be sure flash from stock recovery a Philz Kernel. You can put the file zip into your sdcard than go into recovery and flash it.
:good:
