the hardware is good, at least from 2012, but the software sucks, compare the smoothness to one of Samsung, i HATE samsung, but their firmwares, no matter Entry level or high end phones, is quite awesome...
have you tried to root so far?
I'm unlocked, so no matter how, but all i need is just root...
is this update rootable?

i made a prerooted deodexed rom of 67 FW and flashed
with 411 baseband and kernel, root works
but after flashing back 67 baseband and kernel, changing the permission of apps in system will cause reboot
i tried every root method that works on 411FW, but all with no luck
so i just come back to 411
once it can be rooted ill update again

as of updating to JB, i've been suffering from a weird stutter, especially in 3D games, as I said, like temple run 2, and the interesting point is that when i use SetCPU to increase the MINIMUM speed of the CPU, it's solved!!!
i can't figure out why the minimum clock speed would affect gaming performance
i just hope the new kernel would fix it, toughnot rootable yet
any idea for what i said? that clock speed issue? does temple run 2 runs smoothly on your JB?

in 411, the hotspot can be created and connected (by wifi / bluetooth), but once connected, internet is stopped on phone and connected device.
This is a known problem for JB update in Talksony forum that not only affecting TX.
i didn't test the new fw, i will report back.
Really liking the new update, it could be a placebo thing only but I feel the transition/window animations are greatly improved, it's more fluid and smoother than before.
And yeah I didn't know anything about the WiFi tether bug until you guys mentioned it because I never used it even before.
I think I'll stick with this for the time being.

Why would it be a deal breaker? Having S-On only means that you have to flash the boot.img manually which takes approx 5 seconds to do. You can still root and flash custom roms etc...

Well, I had a One X for a while and flashing the boot everytime a new rom version was released or changing roms got a bit annoying after a while. I also like being able to flash a rom without being connecting to a PC to fastboot.

Yeah "a bit annoying", that's as far as it goes. As for being a deal breaker, I don't think so.
Some roms don't require you to flash the boot.img manually, such as ARHD
Wasn't there an app that would allow you to flash the boot.img from the phone itself? I think I remember seeing it mentioned on the AT&T HOX boards, but I never used it.
They should stickie the soff issue so users don't need to ask.

S-ON and locked bootloader is also what kept me away from this phone, starting on Samsung now and just going to port sense over.
This device can flash boot.img's, kernels, whatever from recovery. Unlike the one x with it's tegra processor. s-off doesn't really give you any benefits EXCEPT being able to downgrade firmware if you choose to do so.

No sorry. I haven't used it yet, few more weeks to wait for mine. But, with a Qualcomm processor you can flash kernels from recovery just fine. Look at ROMs like renovate for example, everything is from recovery now. I just don't see s off being a have to have thing like it was a couple years back with devices like the dhd. Tho s off could be useful to downgrade software ( flash an old ruu) or to change the unlocked flag back to locked for warranty purposes. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a s off one ** fingers crossed**

Anybody who wants to flash custom kernels, should know the basic workings of ADB and fastboot. Some devs modify the ramdisk with their kernel, which can cause issues, if you decide to then flash another dev's kernel. A simple fastboot flash boot boot.img, will restore the stock ramdisk and save you a lot of grief.

the flashtool asked you "which package you would like to exclude", so you just tick them to exclude.

Could you explain better...
Could you enter flash mode?
If you can, follow [NUT] OP and flash stripped ftf.
LINK
That way you'll get stock kernel...it's normal you can't boot your device, you have custom kernel on locked bootloader.
I'm not sure, never tried to unlock BL on Z1 but you should first flash stock ROM and kernel...
This way, I'm not sure you'll be able to enter flash mode to flash ftf from flashtool.
But, as I said, I'm not 100% sure.
Try that method and post what happened...

This is a great thread --> Disaster Recovery by NUT
See the section (click to expand it) about flashtool.
It explains how to connect your phone in flash mode when it's in a bootloop, etc.
Reading the whole lot is recommended, but that's the part you need.
I would pick a stripped ftf from NUT's download page to match the firmware you were running, so if .757 use the stripped .757 ftf, etc.
Then flash the stripped ftf which contains the stock kernel and baseband
That should fix your phone, and retain your data. :good:

No this is bad advice
If he has flashed a custom kernel and maybe a custom rom (Such as Cm or aokp etc) then this will not help
The OP gave limited details about his situation. So flashing a stock FTF will help him. Flashing a stripped FTF or stock kernel only will only help if he is coming from a stock based rom.

Before you unlock your bootloader you should backup your TA.
When you relock with your own restored TA you would get your DRM keys back, etc like you hadn't unlocked in the first place.
If you didn't backup your TA you can still relock your bootloader, but you've lost your DRM keys.
You can't flash someone else's TA as it won't work either, and as far as I understand it, brick your device.
You have to have stock based firmware before you relock your bootloader.
If you relock with a custom kernel installed, it won't work.
What rom and kernel were you running prior to locking your bootloader?
i know, i just wan to know wrong TA issue come from user chose wrong file or tools can make it wrong.

Wrong TA, backed up from different phone, even the same model, and restored on your just to have the DRM Keys back. (hard brick)

Hello, I have looked at other post and there is no case like this yet so I hope someone can help me; really Im willing to donate to my rescuer.
I just Rooted my brand new Xperia Z3 and just after I got super SU and thought I had it all, I come across the issue that WIFI cant even be activated, neither Theterin they cant be turned on at all; it just stays off.
I have searched for hours and there ir no answer. I ran the modules.zip. and nothing. I dont think that is the problem.
For more info, I flashed Z3c_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_v01_FW-105 and then UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip
Is there a way to return to stock rom?

Now, yes, you can go back to stock by flashing a stock .FTF that you can download from...

Really, I can pay if you can help me. Thank you.

I have the same issue after flashing the same file to my Z3. Has anyone found a fix for the wifi issue and to remain rooted? Right now I am going to flash back to stock.
Thanks.
ianwuk
Flash a different recovery and you're good
Exactly, root itself should not affect the WiFi connectivity, it's either the recovery, kernel.
I am stock, rooted and using Nutz dual recovery, no issues.

Once you install the .77 firmware via recovery you have to make another flash (dirty if you prefer) of .77 via flashtool excluding the system partition.
This way you will solve the issue.

Sander, can you give us more information? What do you mean? Do you mean we flash Doomlords kernel (which gives us CWM) and then change to something like TWRP? Right now I lose wifi when I flash Doomlords file and I just flashed back to stock to confirm it is an issue and yes, wifi is working again on stock so what would you recommend?

Can you give me more information on how you did this please? I have an Xperia Z3, not a Z3 Compact, will that make any difference?
Many thanks.
Yesterday I had the same problem with wifi.
The solution fo me: downloaded another .ftf (rooted) for germany, flashed via recovery and then it works perfect.
It was not a .ftf from the threads here, the link was from a german forum, this works not for me.

For me every kernel works, except the CWM kernel somewhere on this forum.

What's this software version? 6.16.651.2
And there's nothing here that indicates a release date.
That is the software version for Android L . I can't share internal email from HTC . but I will tell you that Wi-Fi calling is good and runs very smooth. I just wanted to give everyone heads you should see update very soon.

Is there an exact release date, or is it one of those situations where they're aiming for the first week of February, but it could miss?
ETA Feb 5th . Keep in mind Sprint not happy or don't approve it. Delay may happen. It is the test lab right now.
Meh. Sprint being happy enough to release an update isn't saying much to me. This phone currently has a lot of weird network glitches. The handoff from one LTE tower to another is poor, and it drops back to 3g far too easily. Its not even signal strength that is the biggest problem.

Thanks! For those who don't know, tommyjoesanders is a very reliable source that we're lucky to have with us. He was extremely accurate with the previous sprint updates.

Guys I was thinking about rooting my phone, If I am rooted will I get the official OTA Lollipop update or not?
Also my phone was unlocked by sprint before I moved from USA, If I root my phone and install a custom rom
will I lose my international unlock?

I can tell you that if you root your phone, you'll have to wait for a rooted version of the Lollipop update to be released, or you'll lose root when you install the OTA.

No and no.
To take the OTA you will need a STOCK recovery and typically an unaltered version of HTC's Android (though sometimes it will take the OTA and just break root.
You should not lose international unlock since that is done completely different (a much deeper level then base android). If you do lose it for some reason call sprint and they will reissue your unlock code.

I'm not saying he doesn't know what he's talking about, but we all know sometimes things get mixed up. Just gotta wait and see. I, for one, hope it's for certain.
I think it's funny how everyone is soooo excited about Lollipop...once it arrives everyone will do what they always do regarding a new update.
They will complain!!

The grass is always greener...
Lollipop works pretty decent on my OG N7...NOW. But that first release; I'd rather have had a root canal.
