Download the android sdk. Place the recovery.img in the tools folder.
Now change direction to the tools folder via command prompt: cd /path/to/your/tools
Now type this: fastboot flash recovery nameofyourrecovery.img
Now reboot to your freshly flashed recovery

This is an awesome recovery. The only thing I couldn't get to work that I tried to use was adb sideload. My computer couldn't find the phone. I just put twrp back on, sideloaded my Rom thhen came back to this recovery. I'm going to play with the sideloading a bit to see if maybe I just did something wrong. Keep up the great work.

Yes it will. However you can do this withou flashing the whole package if you just want the recovery.
Easiest way: use root explorer or other method to rename the recovery_boot.p back to this name. It will then restore stock recovery on next boot.

Yep, you're right. I'm having computer problems at the moment so this promises to be a lot more difficult than it should be. I've got a good download, and my device is recognized but I keep getting errors. I'll try again tomorrow. Edit. Got it figured out. Had to move the file into a system folder instead of my desktop. Do you know how to use fastboot?
Just get fastboot. (either from one of these toolkits or whatever , or from the android SDK)
Put the recovery file that u will download from here in the same folder that fastboot.exe is in
hold shift, right click anywhere in that folder (blank spot, not on the file) and click open command prompt. copy paste that command from Original post on there and hit enter....
Your phone has to be in fastboot mode obviously for this to work
Welcome to moonshine S-OFF. Enjoy.
Important windows notes:
1.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
2.) make sure adb and fastboot drivers are working
3.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
4.) if you are having problems with fastboot, try a usb 2.0 port.
5.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
6.) make sure other programs that interfere with and fastboot are uninstalled (PDANet, Kies, etc.)
7.) make sure htc sync is uninstalled
8.) if you use a third party firewall, be sure to grant access to distiller.exe as it checks for updates
9.) MAKE SURE HTC SYNC IS UNINSTALLED
10.) YOU MUST UNZIP THE ARCHIVE BEFORE RUNNING DISTILLER. DO NOT JUST TRY TO RUN IT FROM THE ARCHIVE.

Use a live ubuntu CD. Done.
Your install issue is probably caused by ur video card/driver. There is usually a non-graphical or standard vga install mode. The live CD is ur best bet tho.

Quick question. Does doing this wipe your phone if you're using ViperRom?
So, both firmware links on the download page are for same firmware version .10
Can this procedure be done while on CM 10.1? If so, what firmware do we choose?
Thanks!
Edit: I'm guessing not since the links only show the two HTC ROM versions...Oh well...

hey guys i am new to rooting, unlocking, and installing custom roms, i have one problem i am bootloader unlocked and rooted but when i go to install a custom recovery, it tells me in the command window that it was successful but when i go to enter it, all i see is the htc logo and it says entering recovery but after 10 seconds on the screen the phone shuts off and does it every time, does anyone think im doing something wrong. iu really am stuck on this one and i tried to install both types of recovery.. maybe the root didnt work?????
You don't need root (super user) to flash the recovery. Try again. Make sure htc drivers are installed and the phone is recognized by the computer. Also, you may have had a bad download of the recoveries. Try downloading again. I just used the files from the sticky Q&A thread and my recovery install was very quick and painless. Good luck.

Long hold power and volume down. It should eventually take you to bootloader where you can select boot to recovery and restore a backup. If you don't have one, do an adb sideload of a known working Rom .

This is why I asked for some instructions. So that those of us who don't know how to do this can get educated on what is necessary and how to do this correctly. Plus it helps the community to educate the less educated.

You probably will always need to change partitions as the international ONE has different mount points. Just open the updater-script, and find all mentions of "mmcblk0p" and change the numbers after them to the ones for sprint in the op. Make sure you change all mentions of this! Don't want to write things to the wrong partitions.
