My phone is unlocked and rooted and am using TWRP. I just received a OTA update notification for Sense - telling me to update to version 1.29.651.10 but I am already on software version 1.29.651.7 so the update has a earlier version than the version I'm currently using. I first received a prl update notification and installed that - then I got the software notification update with the older version number. I didn't think I would receive Sense software OTA updates after phone was unlocked rooted and recovery installed?

.10 is the latest, and if your the stock os you will receive updates, just flash a .10 rom
Also the .10 kernel has the back and home button fix

Well I downloaded a file called OTA_M7_WL_JB_50_SPCS_Sprint_WWE_1.29.651.10-1.29.651.7_R2_release_319239dwcr0jcvysqogkks.zipOTA_M7_WL_JB_50_SPCS_Sprint_WWE_1.29.651.10-1.29.651.7_R2_release_319239.zip and tried to install it with TWRP and it failed. I opened the zip with winzip and it has another zip file inside the zip which is: firmware.zip. These are the folders and files in the above zip.
META-INF (FOLDER)
PATCH (FOLDER)
SYSTEM (FOLDER)
bug_fix1 (FILE)
bug_fix2 (FILE)
busybox (FILE)
firmware.zip (WinZip FILE)
fotaBoot (FILE)
reset_system.ko (KO FILE)
skin_fota (FILE)
Any thoughts if this is the right stock rom and/or why it failed to install? There is another zip called Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_1.29.651.10_RUU.zip but you have to relock the bootloader to install.

Just flashed OTA KERNEL over Stock Root.
Boot-looped, since I had a Nandroid, I WIPED... checked my recovery "mount" menu and noticed "System" wasn't selected... installed de-odexed from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282200
booted fine, updated to OTA 1.29.651.10.
Hope this helps!
I ended up flashing Viper's Rom and its was the best thing I ever did, the Rom is flawless and has a lot of tweaks and pull down toggles menu.

Ok, so this confuses me. I am by no means a noob, but this ota thing has me baffled. Is this firmware or just a software/kernel update?
So Viper stated the his PRI or Baseband didn't change after he did this method. Isn't that the phones firmware?
So if this is the case, can't we skip this RUU, fastboot, flash recovery, re-root, piss our pants technique and just flash a rom that is based on the new update?
I'm curious. Hopefully someone can shed some light for me!

Until you have the stock recovery ...you can install the update when it is pushed
As you've stated that you phone is rooted then you might've flashed TWRP or CWM to do it so
flash back the stock recovery of your model and you are good to go...

You need the stock recovery that match your fw version. I.e if you are on 3.23.666.1 then you need the recovery from this version.
Here is a collection of stock recovery. If you can't find yours, you can extract the recovery.img from the previous ota. The recovery packed in the upcoming ota update might also work.
my software number now says 4.19.666.8. im as up to date as i can be through bell so if i flash an old recovery will it cause problems? or will i just get an OTA update to bring it back to the latest version

you'll probably have to restore these app if you want to update. The ota updater script md5 check these apps. If they are not on your phone, the ota installation will probably fail because of MD5 mismatch.
See this post from arhd if you want more details
Ota update will not apply until and unless you have pure stock rom.
e.g. If your phone is pure stock you unlock its bootloader it will remove some apps which are installed in preload. Now if you relock the bootloader and flash stock recovery the ota update will not be applied as during flashing ota update check for these apps whether they are installed in preload or not. For ota updates to applied succesfully you need to run RUU of your model then flash ota.

alright ive found a nandroid backup for bell 3.23.666.1 and i also have the recovery to go with it. if i run that nandroid and flash the recovery do ya'll think i can then get the OTA?
alright i tried this any couldnt get it to work. i flashed the recovery then rebooted phone. it asked to do the 4.19.666.8 update then rebooted, went to recovery but it was still TWRP recovery and not stock. so before getting to far involved i reflashed the nandroid i made this morning.
the whole not being able to s-off with hboot 1.56 is a bit of a pain. ive tried rumrunner and firewater with no luck.
so troubleshooting purposes i should add that i dont care about the tampered bar or anything like that. i dont have to send it back i just want the sense 6 ota. l

Now that I think about it after the flash it didn't do anything so I had to hold the power for 10 seconds. After that I panicked and just reverted back to my nandroid from that morning.

Hi All,
I have an ATT m7 that I'm running on GPE 4.4 (build KTR16S) with TWRP and the bulletproof kernel.
I'm getting notifications for the 4.4.2 update, and I'd like to install it, but obviously with TWRP installed, it can't automate the update process. So, a few questions:
1) Is it okay for me to manually install the update after locating it from my own recovery?
2) Where is the update stored, so that I can track it down within TWRP to flash?
Thanks guys!

you can't flash ota updates with twrp. only stock recovery. like mb_guy said, the ota are stored in the ''downloads'' folder. When you apply the ota, the file is deleted automatically.
You can manually flash ota updates from stock recovery. Move the ota.zip to android/obb. boot phone in stock recovery, select ''apply from phone storage'' ---> /obb --> your ota.zip
For some reason the update is in the /cache/ directory instead of in the downloads directory.
How do I switch to the standard recovery? Do I need to reflash the entire ROM or is there another flashable file?

Code:

Thanks for the help guys. I spent way too long trying to figure out how to get my computer to recognize my phone while in fastboot so I could get the main version number.
I finally was able to figure that out, but I'm not seeing my version (1.26.502.10) on the page.
Are any of the other recoveries usable? Or does this mean that I would have to go back to stock ATT, take the OTA update ATT was pushing a loong time ago, and then re-root to then flash a GE rom?

Hi all,
i'm a total noob in the htc world, i tried digging around in the forum but didn't find the answer to my doubts.
I've an italian (totally unlocked) rooted M7 with STOCK (no carrier personalisation) ROM, running:

- Software Number 4.19.401.11
- Kernel 3.4.10-g7fe1bad [email protected] #1

- Build Number 4.19.401.11 CL304164 release-keys
- Custom TWRP Recovery & Unlocked Bootloader
I just received the sticky notification telling me to OTA update to Sense 6 ( Update # 5.11.401.10). My question is: what happens if i OTA update my One? Will it soft/hard brick? How do i manage to safely install the update? If there isn't a way to install it is there a way to flash some features of it singulatim?

PS: if the answer is NO to all my questions, how the hell do i remove that annoying notification from my not panel?

are you sure the /preload apps are the one specifically from your version (4.19.401.11) ?
also set permission correctly to all these files (-rw-r--r--)
well, all file patched by the ota are MD5 checked by the updater script, if any file have unexpected content (file was modified or missing), the update installation will abort and you'll see that red triangle with the exclamation mark.
like yatindroid said, unlcoked bootloader doesnt matter.
you need stock recovery from the 4.19.401.11 version
all files to be patched must be 100% stock (from 4.19.401.11)

This is the current firmware, not a forthcoming update. I didn't see these files posted when looking for resources for this device and wanted to put them up in case they are ever needed.

Well, I hadn't checked if there was a newer kernel in the update that might break root and prevent using the current one on newer FW. It all worked out perfectly, though. Much appreciated.

help me !how to flash htc dsire 510 which stuck on logo
Hey I really appreciate the firmware updates for cricket first of all....but I am having a problem, I did use the unlock.bin to unlock bootloader on device the proper way through the htc site. but now when i get an ota it will not install i am getting error that says Livewallpapers.apk has bad contents or whatever, anyone know how i can fix this so i can actually get updates to install everything is stock and nonroot right now so it should work i would think but for some unknown reason the livewallpapers system app is throwing the error.

What build number are you on? Best thing would be to restore an unmolested boot and system.
