[Q] Galaxy Note Root/Unroot help

Hello everyone xda!
I would like to ask on how to root and unroot (and also to install a custom rom on) my galaxy note N7000 with gingerbread 2.3.6 as my OS and have this version:
PDA: N7000XXLA6
PHONE: N7000XXLA4
CSC: N7000OXXLA1
I just recently bought this and felt a little slower in response. And also I want to experience the Ice Cream Sandwich.

You having ROM is non rootable. You have following option
-Downgrade to Rootable ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997)
-Install prerooted ROM (see my signature)
-Install ICS ROM then root (see my signature 'installing n rooting ICS)

First, I'm going to download an older rom which is a rootable in post #1 (I'm just going to select any rom right?)
Then, go to post #2? Is post #2 the method to downgrade my non rootable rom to a rootable one?
What is the purpose of post #3?
I am new in rooting so I'm still confused.

I think you didn't get me
I said three option, you have to select one of it. Ok forget
Tell me wat you want to have ICS OR GB on device at the end?
If you want to have ICS at end, then just do this
-Wipe cahe n data from recovery before flashing to ICS
-Flash ICS
-Root it
for this follow guide 'ICS Installation N root ' on my signature, afetr downloading required ICS ROM
And if you want to have GB ROM on your device tell me which ROM you want to have, so i can tell you exact steps.

I want to have both.
I want to have a Gingerbread ROM to update it for the official ICS and while waiting for the official ICS, I want to have an ICS ROM.
Sorry for my confusion.

I think I understand now.

By using this, I could update my phone to official ICS or to a custom ICS.
Or could I also update to custom ICS even if my OS right now is non-rootable?

Is there any way to upgrade from 2.3 to ics or 4.1 without root/cwm and without kies? If so can u tell me the link with steps pls?
Thats because i kies doesnt connect to the phone... And also can someone can tell me the link of a thread that indicates the best way to root and install cmw on i900?

the development of official roms stop on gb, u can flash ics and jb roms but are ports and cm distributions
because of this kies is not useful and its recommended u remove it if u doesnt want to have problems
if the download mode works i think u can flash gb with odin but im not sure

Thank u for info. Can someone tell me the link to a tutorial to how to root from 2.2 froyo and how to install cwm and flash ics?? Please, i've been searching but there a lot of ways and some of them are really old so please just give me a hit of how to do it right.

you need to update it to Gingerbread 2.3.6 before you can have ICS, so use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 to upgrade than use this to get CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908 than choose the ICS ROM you like and use that guide to put ICS on your phone
NO shortcuts unless you want some extra headaches

[Q] Can I flash a P1000 rom to a SHW-M180S Korea Galaxy TAB? & other questions

Hello,
Recently I get a SHW-M180S Korean Galaxy TAB. It work like a charm but I need extra features and a good custom rom.
I did a lot of research, even in korean forums, but I can't get much info on how to root and install roms.
- First problem is rooting. I know Froyo 2.2 is easily rooteable but I have an:
Android 2.3.6
Kernel version 2.6.35.7
Build number GINGERBREAD.UC27
Wich is imposibble for me to root. I've tryed SuperOneClickv2.3 and DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit with no luck and a few other with the same result. I know for sure it's related to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and didn't find a tool or tutorial on how to root it.​
-Second is the rom change. I know that there are a few posts asking for this, but, I didn't find a clear and concise response to:
can I flash a rom for a TAB P1000 to a SHW-M180S???​
I hope that some one can answer me or at least guide me in the correct direction because all the info I found about it finish on a dead end. At least for my Gingerbread 2.3.6

I reply my self afer days of digging around and risking my TAB in to a brick.
I've found a rom that is the last one developed for the SHW-M180S (Android 2.3.6 UC27) but rooted.
I have flashed it with Odin 1.85 wich is the one known to work well with this device. Everything goes well and now I have a rooted TAB. Here is the link to download it.

Now I want to go further and have a compatible and working custom recovery but I don't know which can work, so please, I need some one to guide me!!

Anybody tried Custom recovery or root?
Does Normal Tab's Recovery and root will work for this mobile?

why not try CyanogenMod 9.1 for tab p1000

why not to try CyanogenMod 9.1 for P1000 as long as you have an official Rom you can install it from odin
i'm downloading the Rom you mentioned i'll try P1000 CWM update then try ICS rom

Today i try flash my M180S with P1000XEJQ8 and TAB die, only the light when i try power on.
After flash (use odin) with HOME_M180S.TE23.1719_CL227119_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5, it hanging on the "Galaxy tab". I do wipe and try reflash again, but same.
How repair TAB?

Here is the ICS for your model , i am using it for months i don't have any issue . the only issue is sms capability. but i don't use sim so it works for me .

Absolute nothing to do , just flash it with ODin , kernel contain clockwork recovery. but make sure before and after flash factory reset . and make a backup of your internal storage , mine got formatted so just in case make a backup.

I don't think it has Russian Language. but it has English so its good for many tasks.

iam not that good in android .. but my galaxy tab ( korean ) with 2.6.35.7 kernel version is down ... it's just flashing ( the flash of camera ) is workng when i connect it to computer ... can any one help me to fix it ?

There is one problem, I have my TAB in stock and this rom have no recovery so I cannot do a backup. But I really wanto to do a backup, so, can I instal clockwork recovery? and wich version do I need to install?

I meant backup your internal storage , photos , videos and other stuff not asked you to make a nandroid backup. you can flash the kernel but it does not make nandroid backup so you just have to deal with it. if you can't factory reset before flashing you can do it after flashing.
I have provided you the original thread link . you should read all the stuff there. i can only help you if something goes wrong. by the way you always can flash stock firmware.

I own a galaxy note n7000...and i just realized that i have an old facion android version the 4.0.4 of android.So i want to chance it to the 4.2.1 version that i found on this forum.Well i found this one ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051904 but i preaty much dont understand so much cose i am a begener.So the help i am asking is to help me undersatnd the speps an the how to do the most safe rom istallation...Plz help!!!

In exactly this thread Chasmodo described the installation procedure very good. If I give you a step-by-step help it wouldn't be different from Chasmodo's.
And if this is too complicated or you do not have the energy or time to concentrate on it, you should stay on 4.0.4 and wait for the next official update to Jelly Bean.
As beginner who doesn't want to read you are in real danger to hard brick your device.
But maybe you don't even know the "speciality" of the N7000 with it's bricking danger.

well first thank you very much for your quick reply.i read the speps but there was steps only for cn users ! i dont now how to install a cm thats the poit.I show the video also but there was not so much setting on my recovery mode as on his.Also i know the dangers of this prosigure... and thats why i made a post for learning corectly the steps.But if u say that it would be better to wait for the jelly bean official update i trast u but i have the time to learn how to hack my rom...so in the end what u say i will do?
And the steps are not very compicated for me i juts what to learn the from top to the botom.

Do I have to unroot my device ???And I just downloaded CM from rom manager to have more options on the recovery mode... Is that an issue???

First u must root your phone. To do that go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
Search for your rom.
It will automaticly root your phone and phil touch recovery.

now as u r in stock ics 4.0.4 kernel,which is unsafe, flash a safe philz kernel
why philz kernel...because
1.its safe
2.can be flashed via stocked recovery
3.it gives you root+touch based cwm recovery+safe kernel.

its been long time since i played with my note.
Dont really remember what to do and what to not do.
im running
android 2.3.6
rocket v23 xxlc1 i think with
2.6.35.7 franco.kernel i think
thats the information i get from my phone.
whats the most stable with good batterytime rom i can get now days ? what rom is the most popular ?
and what about kernel ? do i need to change it ? dont even know what kernel do.
can someone give me a link to a good rom.
and how do i flash it again ? just flash over the current custom rom ? or do i need to flash a stock first ?
i also want to the rom to support the ICS/JB pdroid, so it would be a plus if it can do it
plz help me out =)

Unfortunately best rom thread is not allowed. but seems like you have lot to catch up. You can flash any stock JB rom from here with how to:

im sorry dont need the best just one that is fast enought with good stability and have good battery

my guess would be yes for installing a custom rom over it, as i never used Franco kernel as i wasnt there on GB for too long. May be @SpyderTracks or any other member can help you with this. But yes you have to re-root your phone once you flash stock JB rom.

Best rom threads are not allowed on xda. Please head over to the development section and do some reading and decide for yourself what is the best rom for you based on your wants and needs.
