HTC One and Xbox 360 controllers via USB OTG cable? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I bought a few USB OTG cables and I'm getting the following error when I plug my 360 controller into my HTC One:
"The USB device you have connected is not supported. Please unplug both the USB device and the dongle."
I've got an AT&T HTC One rooted running CleanROM. What do I need to do to get the 360 controller working with my phone?
I tried the Moga Pro and it's a little too laggy for my twitch-gaming tastes. Plus I ****ing hate bluetooth. Help?

Try a different kernel? Some kernels have a limited otg support. I don't have a wired controller so I can't try it on my device unfortunately.

Tried team seven 4.2.2 kernel
Im on RGUI v1 with team sevens 4.2.2 kernel that supports otg, ive tried with my usb flash drive and external hdd and it works. The xbox 360 controller gives me the same error as you. if anyone knows how to fix this that would be great. I had the old moga power a and its horrible in my opinion, dont want to fork out the money for a moga pro, already have an otg cable and xbox 360 controller. I dont really play games just though it would be cool to play some GTA with my controller.
Thanks,
Zach

Just use the sixaxis controller

AND N64 Controller adapters exist?! I'm in ecstasy right now..
Does the XOOM need the OTG cable to make this work?
I'm curious to know if this works for the Xoom. I'd assume that OTG cable is required.
great find!

Yes it would need an otg cable i had my 360 wireless controller working on mine without any program however, if i tried to use 2 wireless controllers it kinda confused the emulator and both controllers moved both players so im assuming this app would fix that.
Anyone have issues purchasing app?
Anyone have issues purchasing app? Mine errors and says contact Google or "pending", but will not bill me or allow download.
So, has anyone given this a try yet? I've ordered all the accessories (HDMI cable, Xbox Adapter, Angled OTG Cable) all I've got left is to purchase the app itself.
I'd love to hear from anyone that's tried it.
I'll be sure to update!
well the app is gone from the play store
any one has any idea on how to get multiple wireless xbox controllers to work with an android device?

BT or Wifi - Gamepad for P990

Hello
I want to play games from my P990 (Metal Slug 3, GTA3 .. etc) on the TV screen. Connection to the TV is done by HDMI and I`m missing a controller.
What would be the best and cheapest choise here?
I use a playstation controller with sixaxis app and it works nicely.

what about XBOX controler ? does it work with our phone?
Not wireless since ive read that the xbox uses its own protocol....it would require an usb connection and usb host functionality on the phone, you could check usb joy center app too,it has many more options for controllers but i never got it to work properly.

Some months ago, I've bought a cheap PS3 Sixaxis Controller on DealExtreme (about 15$).
But unless someone knows how to do, I never successed to pair this controller to any android device I have (HP Touchpad & O2X), via Android Settings or Sixaxis Controller app (bought an usb cable to connect, nothing new ...). So, don't try those cheap Sixaxis Controllers for your O2X (but it works great on my laptop !)

By the way, if anyone know how to pair those controllers, I'm waiting for your answer

Neat little toy

Moga Controller. Its fun and works, its just not worth the $49.99 price tag, due to only about 12 games work for it.

The PS3 controller works like a charm via OTG USB adapter. You can get the adapter cheap on Amazon. I got 2 for less than $5 shipped. I have verified it works for GTA3, Shadow gun, Max Payne and Dead Trigger so far, just plug and play. You have to figure out witch button does what in each game but it works great. Absolutely zero lags or problems. Once the gameklip is made for the Note 2 you can duplicate the Moga's function for less than $20 and the USB adapter can be used to connect a USB keyboad, mouse, memory stick, external hard drive, etc. I've heard but not verified you can hook up multiple devices at the same time and mirror the screen via MHL to HDMI with a powered USB hub and the OTG adapter as well..

other usb gamepad on Note 2 (other than x-box/ps3). Doable?

I was looking around on amazon and found this SNES replica USB gamepad
SNES USB game pad
It's plug n play on windows PC, but will it work on GN2 using OTG cable? If it does I'm thinking to make a custom mount that will hold GN2 on the gamepad like MOGA gamepad (Didn't really want to pay $50 for that thing and still having to use their proprietary app to have the controller working on my gaames).
Will it work without additional apps?
Plus, I'm hoping no lag since I will be using wired connection instead of BT.
Any thought on this set up?
I use a $3 no name generic usb gamepad. It looks like a ps3 controller.
It works fine.
You will need to use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoy to map the controller for most games. Not many have controller support built in.

ORIGINAL Xbox Controller Used With Nexus 7

Hey everyone, I recently bought an OTG cable off amazon along with a ps2 controller to USB adapter. Well, while waiting for my ps2 adapter to come in(OTG is already in my possession), I wanted a temporary solution.
I used to mod original xbox's and even make adapters to convert controllers to USB(Original xbox uses USB, just different shaped ports). Well, on windows you have to download special drivers that you have to find yourself due to your computer not being able to automatically install the controller. So, I figured the controller would be the same way on Android.
Well, I was wrong. what you do is strip an xbox controller's cable, or the break away cable(this is smarter due to the fact you can still use your controller later with another break away cable), and strip a usb cable (the male end still in tact) and simply wire the corresponding colors together(Green to green, red to red, black to black, white to white). Now the xbox controller has a 5th wire which is yellow, you can ignore that one.
So far this controller has been a good temporary solution for my wait. The L & R triggers don't work, but im not sure if that's an android issue or my controller just funked. Anyways if anyone has a spare xbox controller laying around and about 10-20 minutes of spare time, give this trick a go! Would love to see other people's results!
Games tested on:
GTA III
Modern Combat 3
Dead Trigger

Well I already have a XBOX to USB adapter, I guess that would save me the stripping right? (I'm at work, cant test it myself yet)
Anyone try this with ICS?

It should work! If my Evo 3D had otg compatibilities I'd try it but it should work.

I too have an xbox to USB adapter from the old Xbox modding days. Plugged into my OT G adapter for the note 2 tonight, and no love on riptide GP or dead trigger.
is there anywhere where you can check to see if the Android is even detecting it?
do you need to help 6 axis controller or something installed?
Would this work on for the Motola Atrix Lapdock's full USB port? That would be pretty sick...
well i always wanted to know whether this would work but never tried it, i have a xbox controller that i did the usb mod with and a asus transformer tf101 with 2xUSB host and a SGS3 with otg adapter. but when i made the transistion from windows 7 gaming to windows 8 i later realised the driver would never be supported, so i was left with windows 8 games all installed and ready but no controller to play them with. so i bought an official xbox360 wired controller new off ebay, i knew it would work with android if i needed it to but it is perfect for me and my pc. btw the windows 7 driver for xbox controller is called XBCD and works well with x360 button mapping software.
This sounds pretty awesome. I modded the break away cable on one of my original Xbox controllers years ago so I could use it as a PC controller because I had extras. Now I just need to get an OTG cable.:cyclops:
I used this tutorial to mod my Xbox 1 controller a few days before: http://www.ocmodshop.com/how-to-use-an-xbox-controller-as-a-usb-pc-gamepad/
It works perfekt with my i9305 including the L & R triggers if you build you own driver with USB/BT Joystick Center 6: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoy
You also can copy my config file to your folder USBJoyData and import it with USB/BT Joystick Center 6: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56411924/Xboxcontroller/Xbox1Controller_JoyPrefsFile_1118_645_0.zip
Tested with: Shadowgun
Using an original Xbox controller with USB adapter to OTG cable. GTA 3 doesn't work for me, sadly. I just get camera spin and some buttons do odd things.

You shouldn't need any third party software installed. As long as your devices supports usb hosting it should work. What Os version are you on?

I dont know if someone pointed tha out yet, I dont have time to read it now...

That's normal. All you need to do is install USB/BT Joystick Center 6 and map the buttons to your needs. It also works perfectly on my rooted Galaxy Nexus

Why? Use this tut and you have both: http://www.ocmodshop.com/how-to-use-an-xbox-controller-as-a-usb-pc-gamepad/
Would this work on other phones such as sony xperia p
Simple question, but you are using the micro-usb slot right? Is it possible to charge and connect a controller at the same time?
Because well, I can't play games for any longer then 2hours, then my battery is dead.

Charging with otg is kernal specific. If you have a usb extender cable, cut it where you want the charging port to be and solder in a 'y' with a male end. Only red and black need be connected. Leave green and white alone for the charging plug in.
Plug power in first, then the controller, then attach to your device.
I made one to use thumb drive and charge while traveling.
Works great on galaxy s3 with lean kernal.
