[Q] Kernels + settings? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi everybody,
Running ViperROM right now. I want some of the features badseed wolfpack kernel has to offer. Fast charge, logo2menu, s2w, governors, thermal control...
I downloaded it and flashed it over all my data after a cache wipe. I don't see any difference, my kernel version doesn't seem to indicate that it's the wolfpack. How do I use/activate those features? I'm assuming I have to use an explorer of some sort, correct? If not, what? I tried looking it up on the interwebs but nothing seemed to help.
Thanks in advance.

Tried it and kernel tuner. They don't have (or don't show) any of the features that the bad seed kernel exhibits.
Am I not supposed to use an explorer? What's up with those 0,1.2 etc?
How can I check if the kernel properly installed?

In settings about should say in kernel info. I remember there is a file you can edit to enable what you want the htc logo to do. Check kernel thread for details. I wish I could help out more but I haven't ran any custom kernels in awhile

[Kernel][GPL][4.3 JS][August 6][a5] m_plus kernel for mako

m_plus kernel for Nexus 4 (mako)!
Hi All,
In an attempt to reduce the confusion related to the two versions of 4.3, I have decided to split my m_plus thread into 3 versions, a version for 4.2 (the previous thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256887), a version for 4.3 JS AOSP builds (this one) and a version for 4.3 JW builds (not yet up, but will be in the future).
Disclaimer: As usual, I am not responsible for anything that may or may not happen to your device as a result of using this kernel or any other flashable zips posted by me in this thread.
Kernel Features:
Based on the latest Google Source for 4.3
Built with the Linaro 4.7.3 toolchain (2013.07)
insecure ramdisk (ro.recure=0, ro.debuggable=1)
init.d support (by flashing the full ramdisk, requires busybox installed to /system/xbin)
Undervolting support (down to 600mV)
Gamma Control support (motley, faux and franco interfaces available)
Faux Sound Control support including poweramp
dynamic fsync
simple GPU governor
Builds:
Sources: https://github.com/thracemerin/kernel-Nexus4/tree/m_plus_43_exp_JS
Warning: These builds are for 4.3 builds beginning with the letters JS only, if you flash it on a JW based build you will have all sorts of strange graphical issues.
Personal Request: If you plan to make unofficial builds with features not included in the builds posted by me, please don't link them in the thread, all this does is result in confusion especially if someone has a problem with something you have added, it is much easier for me to provide support if I know that everyone in the thread is running the same builds I am. If you want to make a kernel with these features, feel free to start another thread so that they can be discussed and supported as appropriate.
http://goo.im/devs/thracemerin/mako/m_plus_43/JS_builds/alphas
Latest:
Alpha 5:
Flashable (anykernel): m_plus_43_alpha_5JS.zip
Note: if you need the full ramdisk for init.d support/insecure ramdisk, flash the ramdisk package alpha 4 first.
What's Added:
USB force fast charge
Enable Krait Retention
Various patches and enhancements from CAF
Previous:
Alpha 4:
Note: The anykernel version doesn't include init.d support and insecure ramdisk unless your ROM already has it, if you were on alpha 3 you will retain it.
Note 2: If you flash the ramdisk version on CM, the built-in superuser will stop working, CM includes init.d support anyway.
Flashable (ramdisk included): m_plus_43_alpha_4JS_ramdisk.zip
Flashable (anykernel): m_plus_43_alpha_4JS.zip
What's Included:
all the stuff listed in kernel features
freezer patches by Colin Cross

PowerHAL Fix:
There is an issue in the stock AOSP powerHAL where the mpdecision touch boost requests are being sent to the wrong socket, as a result there will be unexpectedly poor UI performance. Show-p1984 fixed this problem in his Stockified AOSP build and I pulled the powerHAL and made it flashable for everyone. Just flash it in recovery and reboot, if you want to go back to the stock one just dirty flash your ROM. This shouldn't cause any problems on any ROM even if it has the fix already cooked in, but if it does you can just dirty flash your ROM to remove it. Thanks to show-p1984 for the fix.

Yep, need to have busybox installed too.
First of all, thanks for your work.
I want to make sure I understand the procedure correctly.
If I use CM10.2, I flash "m_plus_43_alpha_4JS.zip" to maintain the built in superuser.
init.d will still work, cause cm already supports it.
Right now I am on Alpha3 with SuperSU 1.51. So to update to alpha4 I can simply flash over.
If I want to go back to the built in superuser I have to reflash CM, then flash alpha4 via zip.
Is this correct?
Wont stay connected to Google services when phone goes into deep sleep, bars and signal are grey when i turn screen on. I thought Google fixed all the wifi issues with N4 in 4.3 kernel?

Dirty flash CM, then flash A4 should do it, that's what I did and it worked.

Strange, it's working fine for me now.
Thanks, just wanted to reply. Works as you said.
After the first boot I had some strange behaviour,
min cpu clock did not go below 1,026 ghz and GPU Clock did not go above 200 mhz.
A restart fixed it, incase somebody notices similar behaviour.

[Q] Re-Rebooting after rebot/start-up

Hello,
I have a minor bug on my HTC One, ROM Viper 1.2.1, kernel ElementalX, TWRP recovery (cannot modify the xda forum signature yet)
everytime I reboot/start-up my phone, it gets stuck after loading my Homepage, then it reboots again and gets stuck at bootlogo
then I have to restart the device by longpressing the powerbutton, the phone rescans all applications and finally starts-up correctly
Have been trying to find some solution on the forum but did not find anything
Does anyone have a hint how to get rid of this?
Thanx in advance
How long have you been running this Rom Kernel combo? Sounds like it could be a kernel issue. Have you tried flashing the rom without the kernel?

I did not mention that I also have removed the red text using the Dark Booloader procedure from this forum and I have also changed the bootanimation and downanimation, just to provide complete information about my phone...
I have been using this combination since three weeks and changing to a different kernel did not solve the issue, I tried Stock and Team7-Performance kernels. I dont want to go away from ElementalX kernel, seems to be the best for me.
According to user signatures on XDA there are many users on combination ViperOne+ElementalX. Is any of you guys experiencing the same behavior?
Thanx
It's not a kernel issue. You need to wipe and reinstall your ROM.

Thanks, but I will wait for Viper 2.0. However wiping will be necessary with the new version. Till then I will have to live with that

I didn't mean to imply the kernel was no good i meant maybe he was overclocked to high and his phone didn't like it.
No disrespect to you flar

Overclocked is just GPU to 450MHz, but CPU is not overclocked
After installation of ViperOne 2.0.0 is this problem solved, for now case closed

Custom kernel and maintaining slow charge rate?

Hi all,
Is the slow-to-charge behaviour of the HTC One hardware based or controlled by the kernel? I'm running the Bulletproof kernel but I want to ensure that the charge characteristics are the same as stock (for battery longevity).
Assuming the use of the stock OEM wall-charger, and USB fastcharge left off in the kernel, should the charge rate be the same between stock and Bulletproof?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it will be the same if you left USB fastcharge off in the kernel installer, btw I recommend you try faux's kernel and you can download the faux kernel enhancement app from the play store and you can tinker with the settings using the app anytime you want instead of going through the installer and it has really nice settings but anyway I digress

Thanks very much for replying. In kernel terms all I really wanted was the stock kernel with the ability to write /system (which the stock kernel disallows). Bulletproof seemed to be the closest to stock I could find, but I'll checkout faux as you suggest.
Thanks again.

Yup, which is what I'm trying to preserve while using custom kernels. I'm trying to work out if the slow-charging is imposed by the hardware or kernel.
Thanks.
Ah I see. I think it's the hardware as all kernels have the same charge rate. You don't need to worry about battery longevity unless you plan on keeping the phone for 3 years +

Kernel without Logo2Wake and Logo2Menu

Hi,
so I'm currently running the Lunar-Kernel because I want to have more clockspeed-cteps, lower minimum clockspeed and voltage-controls so that I can undervolt the CPU slightly which saves a lot of battery.
I just realized that it has this stupid Logo2Wake and Logo2Menu-Feature that I don't need and now I want to know how I can disable those or if there is any kernel that supports those voltage and clockspeed-settings but doesn't have these Logo-Features.
Thanks for your time and help in advance!
Stupid?!

Ok so because you don't need them, doesn't mean these are stupid features. Devs are working hard to bring those features users asked for. What is stupid imo is someone not searching the forum for something evident. maybe you should read those threads
Not a single kernel there that does what I describe above, except this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301543
But the download isn't available anymore.

You ca n undervolt and overclock/underclock with elementalx
you can chose what features you want when installing in aroma so you won't be stuck with logo2wake or logo2menu if you don't want them

TeaMSeven kernel for CM11. Why would you not want logo to menu? It is so handy but even if it was there you wouldn't have to ever touch it. Anyway, aroma lets you choose whether to install or not. Btw, my first post after I got my One was asking for a kernel for CM that DID have that feature and I got my a** busted!!

[Q] Kernel

Ok so ive got twrp 2.7 recovery installed and im running malladus 1.2.9 currently and evrything is runnung great right now. Ive been trying to read about some different kernels because my intrest in them has gone up. So my question is what kernel are you running and what do you like and dislike about it if any. I know each phone can react differently to different kernels but i just want to get a feel for things out there before i decide on which kernel i want to try.
I would definitely recommend Furnace 1.7.1 for LG roms. Extremely smooth and snappy

There is 3g that is why it says roaming. Its not "always roaming" it only displays that when you're on 3g.
Turn on allow data while roaming and you're set. Its cosmetic, it doesn't roam.
And based on the c ROM thread, yes, it is there.
Until cm fixes it and the changes are merged to whatever ROM or the ROM devs fix it themselves it will be there.

Every kernel is different in what you can change. Take the lg stock kernel. No access to voltages and whatever else. On a custom kernel you may have access to it (if the Dev allows)
Also if you flash dominax it will install stweeks as well, basically his version of trickster.
If your phone isn't slow, why flash a custom stock kernel? I'm currently on 1.2.9 malladus with animations turned off, and its snappy as hell.
Stock kernel = no issues and best battery life.
Custom = possible sod's even on stock.

Nope, not really. Today I was in an area where I normally don't get 4G, phone then said it was roaming, but that was expected. I was having some wakelock issues while charging in the car when my phone was super low on battery (forgot to charge last night), screen kept coming on while chraging when I was trying to conserve every last bit of juice.
That being said, it's by far the best ROM I've seen yet. I've never seen so many features packed into one ROM before. IT makes PAC Man ROM look like stock. Its awesome! Def check it out!
