Audyssey Audio Dock - Nexus 7 Accessories

Hi Guys
I just bought an Audyssey Audio Dock (http://www.audyssey.com/products/audio-dock) which I intend to use for music listening over bluetooth with my Nexus 7. This speaker also has a docking option for Apple devices to play music while its docked. The docking connector is a 30 pins one.
I did some research and found out that there are some 30 pins to micro usb adapters (http://www.miniinthebox.com/nl/micr...n-kabel-voor-ipad-iphone-en-ipod_p362801.html)
My questions are: Can I charge my nexus 7 when I dock it with a connector like the one mentioned above?
And is there any chance that I can play music over this usb to 30 pins connector while docked? ( so without bluetooth streaming or whatsoever) The Nexus 7 supports USB audio is custom roms when its attached to a DAC. Since the Audyssey has an internal DAC, this option seems plausible. The only possible restraint could be the 30 pins connection.
I think my nexus 7 can be charged since the 30 pins connector deliver 5v power. For the second question I couldn't find any information so I would appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance.

I think the adapter might indeed provide power. It most definitely wouldn't both supply power and allow connection for usb audio.

That's also what I was thinking. And what about usb audio only?

The proprietary Apple connector has defined specific pins for the audio, power, etc and they have nothing to do with the usb connection. The only way I can see that you could hook up some external DAC to the Nexus would be via a mini to whatever the Audyssey uses USB cable.

Docks

Who here has purchased a Vehicle or Desk (or any other dock you found for your Atrix HD), and what are your opinions about that docks?
I own both the Vehicle and Desk docks and i don't like how the audio cable isn't built into the vehicle dock like it is in the desk dock. otherwise i like both of the docks.
a note on the vehicle dock: you need to find the right sized case to fit properly in the dock without the inside part. I bought the Incipio Feather Case, and it was too small and the phone looked like it had no support inside the car dock so i had to add the inside piece back in and remove the case from the phone every time i use my car.
My phone will not fit the desk dock without removing the case. But the desk dock doesn't do anything I care about; it didn't even come with the HDMI cable. It's nothing more than an oversized kickstand....but it was free
The car dock was also free. I like that the vehicle dock works better with my case because the plug part slides independant of the frame. I don't like that there's no option to keep it from auto launching vehicle mode. The reason they do not have it automatically plugging into your audio jack is because if you have bluetooth on your radio (and I do) it would look cheap to have a cable hanging all the time.

Have you tried disabling car mode app? That should keep it from launching.
Go to settings> apps>all> find vehicle mode, select it, then disable.

I am it came with a 3.5mm cable, but it doesnt have a built in plug for it. The charger cable can also be disconnected, and they had fine in older car docks as well as the desk dock
The RAZR/RAZR MAXX docks work as well. One of the users over at AtrixForums, com has successfully used the RAZR Desk Dock (89527N) with the Atrix HD. It's essentially the same as the one they are selling for the AHD, but it can be found for cheaper (not sure if the insert might be different). I am using the RAZR Dock Station (89526N) with the AHD. in addition to the HDMI and audio ports, it also has 3 USB ports and includes the HDMI cable. The USB ports function perfectly with the AHD.

I have a question for anyone who has the car dock for the AHD (whether you got it free from AT&T or Costco, or purchased it retail). Did it come with a charging/audio cable? I got mine in the mail today from the Costco rebate thing (mailed the rebate form 2 weeks ago today before Thanksgiving) and it had the dock assembly and the mounting arm/suction cup... No cables. I tried the charging/audio cable from my Atrix 4G car dock and it works perfectly (including audio), but I'm wondering if the cable was supposed to be included or perhaps its only included if you buy retail.

So, you essentially got just a charging cable which plugs into the dock and also an auxiliary cable which you plug from the headphone jack to your car?
$20 for that cable? Ouch.

How about yours? Does the USB cable carry both power and audio like the 4G one did?
My 4G cable works fine with this dock, even though the Atrix HD is not listed as compatible on that other cable. If Motorola is just including plain cables, perhaps Costco is counting the bonus charger and cables they gave me as the cables I'm supposed to use with the dock. Costco didn't include an aux cable, though.

Well, I kept the 4G cable. Definitely don't wanna be plugging in an audio cable. Can also confirm the 4G cable works fine. It's actually funny, if I also plug the headphone the sound stops coming from the dock and comes from the headphone output.

MHL Adapter not working

i just bought mhl adapter for galaxy SIII and it's worked well with my note 2 although there is no sound
today i tried again with another TV and suddenly it wasn't work! it only charge my device and even the message "HDMI connected" didn't appear
what should i do? is there any certain setting?
1. Buy one made by Samsung.
2. Return the cheap Chinese one you have.
Sent from my SGH-T999
actually the one that i bought was original one from samsung
i don't know if it's fake or not because i got it pretty cheap, around 18$
Link to where you got it?

Are you sure its 11pin not 5pin?
When that happens with my Note 1, I power cycle it and its adapter starts working again.
How can you tell if is 11 pin?
My old mhl still works on note one, htc sensation and skyrocket doesn't work on note2

Look at the MHL micro usb connector. You will see a 2 step connector. 6 pins on the lower step, 5 pins on the inside step. You can also look at the Note 2 micro usb plug and you can see the 2 step connector pins.
Lol it was fake

Did you get a Samsung one?

Is your Samsung MHL adapter like this...
Mine cuts in and out (both video and audio), and wiggling the entire set of attachments seems to bring it back. I've replaced the hdmi cable and power adapter / cable to no avail. Also, the power plug into on the MHL adapter seems very loose at the pin connection. But even with the charge indicator on, the video/audio signal cuts in and out randomly.

NEXUS 7 Car install Diagram

Hi All,
If this has been done before please ignore.
I have been doing a fair bit of research on the NEXUS 7 as a car head deck but no diagram to go off.
Can you please advise if the Diagram below is accurate or if i need to amend certain areas to make it work. The NEXUS 7 will be slide in slide out.
Subscribed to see what others have to say. I am hoping to skip the head unit and sub and go right from the N7 to the amp. My worry is getting clean audio out of the N7 while it gets power.
I have a ground issue somewhere currently where if I am charging a device and have it plugged into the aux port of my head unit, I get tons of static and noise.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Only comment I'd make is that if you're going to use the POGO pins to power it why not grab the audio from there also? Seems safer to use a non intrusive (without a plug going into the Nexus) method over sticking in the headphone jack.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
He probably didn't know he can do that. You can also use a USB dac and get audio that way. Probably much cleaner and it will also fix his ground loop issues.
I owned a Galaxy Tab before the N7 and it was MUCH WORSE at adding noise to the headphone output. The N7 is much much better at isolating that ground.

Correct i didn't even know what those 2 pins were for Audio or if they were for D+ & D- so thanks I have adjusted the picture accordingly. If you could check that out that would be great. After i get everything from Evil Bay this week i will do lots of pictures and full write up.
Thanks So excited to get started.

so are you saying that the POGO pins are THAT simple? and here i was building a dock for my N7!
if this is true, you rock man!
Unless your drawing is just an example, your speaker wiring needs to be changed so you're not daisy chaining the signal. Run 'home runs' to each driver.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Also there's no need as in actually you can't do that have a DAC on the audio lines. They are analog L+ and R+ with the ground being common between power-, L- and R-. Look for the POGO thread over in the accessories subforum along with one on a homemade dock for more info. There is no USB on the POGO pins.

Close, but not there yet. The 2 middle POGO pins are Audio +/-, and won't connect to a DAC as it's already an analog output. You can connect the DAC via USB though, and get the highest quality audio possible out of the N7.
HOWEVER: if you want to charge AND use OTG (DAC and external storage will connect via OTG), then you'll need a kernel which will support that. Running power through the POGO pins also requires a special kernel. This is the only one I know of:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37755-timurs-kernel-usb-host-power-management-usb-audio/
The fixed installation is the best choice for car applications.
Alternatively you can use audio out and charge through the POGO, and use a kernel like faux123's kernel to charge and have USB OTG (but won't work with a USB DAC), though there are limitations to this setup.
EDIT: I've attached a diagram of my current car setup.

Thank you for your diagram you've definately got alot going on in your car Looks good.
This is what i have bought.
Nexus 7
FiiO E10 USB DAC
Clarion EQ746
3ft male to female USB connection
3.1A Dual USB Charger
Micro USB female
AUX to RCA ( Not sure what ill be using this for now )
Pogo Pins
Magnets ( Not sure if I'll use these yet )
Will the above work? I've read way to many forums on this subject and no one is actually clear.
If i cut up and strip back the rubber around a Male USB can i use this as my POGO pins connector to the USB DAC + Kernel suggested?
*phillip1953* It is just a quick drawing and i can assure you this won't happen when installing.
Everyones input is greatly appreciated Thank you.
I think I have a working diagram to go off. On a positive note my NEXUS 7 arrived today Wohoo.
Also when i get free time i will also create a Nexus 7 dock with built in speakers using the OEM POGO pins?

You really need to read the whole thread that MetalMan posted above. It will show you what you're doing wrong, and give you more to think about.
EDIT:
I really wouldn't charge off the pogo pins if I were you. Get a USB OTG + Charging Y Cable and just plug/unplug that as needed.

Car dock with audio

Hello there.
I'm getting a n7105 and I'm searching for a car dock able to take out audio for USB port and send it to a jack in order to connect it to the car hifi.
Does this exist for Note 2?
Thanks and best regards

Thank you so much for information.
Do you know if our can route calls through jack, too?
I'm not sure, I don't have the dock myself.
You can ask in the thread about the dock though, a few people have received their cables and should be able to answer your questions.
I have the dock with cable the audio works

You can use the iBOLT cable which will do audio out with every 4.1.x or 4.2.x ROM/kernel available or you can get a cheap "Chinese" eBay cable which will work on 4.1.x with Perseus, Trinity, or Devil kernels. Maybe more support old school car mode, but these 3 do for sure and stock does not.

PSA 4.3 OTA Breaks OTG Audio Out

I use the digital audio out from the mini usb to my Fiio Andes DAC. After taking OTA, Spotify freezes when adjusting volume and my handset become completely unresponsive, necessitating a hard reboot. Sadness ensues.
I didn't think it supported USB audio out to begin with. Wouldn't work on my stereo when I first bought the phone

tgearman, I didn't even know these devices worked with any USB audio out. This is pretty damn cool.
Have you played around in AOSP based ROMs? Does this capability work in any of those? What does your setup look like? You've got me super curious.
I've got the Sprint hTC One and picked up the OTG cable on Amazon for about $8 USD. The cable is usb mini (male) which connects to the handset. My phone recognized it immediately and routed the audio out. The other end of the OTG is usb standard (female) which connects to my Fiio cable. Shure se535's on the business end = Bam!
Sent from my HTCONE
Gonna have to try that. Didn't know you needed USB otg. I tried with USB micro to regular USB - same as pc connect
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I'm thinking they jump a couple of pins and that's how the handset recognizes the OTG and switches to audio-out on that port. It's pretty slick - give it a try. I put a review on the cable on Amazon. Reviewed under tgearman - search on that and you'll find the right one.
