I haven't had any issues at all with my HTC One. There have been some that have had dead pixels. You can run a pixel test on the device and if there are dead pixels they will exchange it for you at the store. I previously had the Note 2 as well and this is by far a superior device.

I had a Note 2 and I loved it. I really had no reason to switch to a new HTC One but my brother got one and I figured change is good...
I sold my note for 400 bucks on Craig's list and found a new one on swappa for 400 bucks... it was a no-brainer.
I can honestly say that the only things I missed about my Note 2 are:
1) Battery life was just ridiculous. I could go 18hrs with really heavy use easily. The HTC One is not bad at all though.
2) The S-Pen did make screenshots and editing easier.
3) Mostly, I miss running 2 apps on one big screen. I always had youtube and chrome running.
4) Smart Call... or whatever it was called. Basically, lifting the phone to your ear to call the contact that you have on the screen.
Reasons I won't go back to a Note 2:
1) The build quality of my Note 2 was a joke. The "chrome" around the outside of the phone was creaky and it drove me nuts.
2) Speaker quality is so so so much better with the HTC One.
3) Sense is far better in every way than Samsung's TouchWiz.
I could probably go on with some more minor details. Ultimately, it's personal preference. I have not had a single problem with my HTC One. I know a lot of things that you like about one or the other can usually be found with custom ROMs, but a stock to stock comparison, I suggest the One. Unless, of course, you really need that enormous screen (which I did like).
Never had SDS on my Note, haven't heard about it with the One either. Don't think it is a problem here... someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi. All have had my my note for little over a month now. And Ive advertised it on gumtree just to see what people would offer me for it. I've had an abundance of people offering to swap there one x for my note. And all I want to know is it worth the swap? Thanks in advance.
Well it kind of depends on you personly i love the big screen on the note. But ofcourse we have to think of the extreme preformence on the one x. In my opinion the deal is kind of even but not worth it due to the screen and changeable memory card. Sorry for my bad english

Hi =) it all depends on personal preference really i was torn between the note and the one x but upon reading a couple of issues with the one and my sensation xe having loads of problems within a 6 month period i went for the note and haven't looked back. Last time i checked i was put off by the screen issues with the one x - people said it was flickering, scrolling effect etc and htc said they would be fixing it at some point and i really didnt want that to happen on my device. If you find your note is too big then as ive said its down to choice but check the one x forum on xda if you plan to and have a look at some of the issues.
I agree with you both. The main factor for getting the note was for the screen and I think it is still now the best screen on any phone . I love the s pen as well and use it frequently. The next phone I would 100% go for is a galaxy s3. But first that means getting rid of my note and beats studio headphones first which will be a pain. Ohwell thanks for the advice guys will bump your thanks meter up
The answer is "no." People forget that the Galaxy Note is a different class of device.

I think that should answer your question...
I tried to make this trade on Craigslist a few weeks ago. Thought it was a done deal but the guy flaked on me at the last moment.
I'm kind of glad I kept the note but I think that's an even trade. They sell for about the same on eBay. The 32 gb is a little more expensive.
If you mildly OC (CPU and GPU) the Note you get the same performance as the One X.
Then you can UV so it consumes less battery.
And thanks to having 2 instead of 4, I think the NOTE sips less battery than the One X for idle/low power activities.
So the difference really comes down to the screen size (man enough to handle 5.3), the use case (S Pen + GLONASS vs Better camera), the quality (Though plastic, the build qualities excellent, which cannot be said for OneX) and finally the community (it is very very hard to root and unlock the bootloader on HTC, unless you use their UnLocker Tool which is very flawed).
To me its no contest, the NOTE is the superior device. The Tegra3 is sneezable... but A15's wont be.
DON'T
The hox is just plagued with too many issues and the biggest is the loose wifi antenna. I tested three units on three different stores in HK and all had the same problem of gaining signal strength when applying pressure on the upper right hand portion of the screen and losing it subsequently once you release. I came from a galaxy nexus and this note is just so exciting to use. Size is everything, a 4.3" suddenly looks puny compared to this.
A little background on my phone history. Started with the iPhone 4 as my first real smart phone, then moved to the Galaxy S2, then back to the iPhone 4S, then I made the jump back to Android and got the HTC One X which was my favorite device until a spilled beer ended its life. I quickly moved on and got the iPhone 5 on an upgrade, noticed how stale the design and operating system was. So that finally led my to trade the iPhone 5 for the Galaxy Note 2 and haven't looked back since.
The HTC One initially impressed me with its "unibody" aluminum design and the 1080p screen. It's a given that the Note 2 isn't satisfying me in terms of build quality since my 2 favorite phones I have had hardware wise have been the HTC One X and iPhone 5. But the Note 2 has a fantastic screen, and its size has really grown on me. Yes the Note 2 in terms of PPI isn't as great as the iPhone 5 or HTC One X, but in all honesty, I really struggle noticing a difference in that department since the contrast of the screen is quite nice.
The two things that are making me question this purchase is the screen size and battery life. I went back to hold my dead One X the other day and immediately missed the hardware and build quality, which is impressive since it is made out of plastic. However, the difference in screen size of the Note II's 5.5" screen to the One X's 4.7" screen is quite a jump. And I have gotten very used to the battery life of the Note, easily getting 6+ hours of screen on time still 20% left.
So there are my concerns; I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts and opinions on these two phones and what they would ultimately decide one.
I recently got rid of my note 2 and am getting the one.
It all depends on what matters to you on the phone.
^^^^^ Aren't you the only person who can answer that question satisfactorily? ... Unless people know EXACTLY what you want from a phone, thy won't know which one is the right one for the job
Personally I've always had HTC except for a couple of very unpleasant and fortunately short-lived episodes with an iPhone and an LG thing, so I'd be in no position to advise on a choice. As for screen size and batery life .. I never got less that 8 hours from my One-X, and I couldn't get a note to work for me when I held it in in one hand and tried to swipe/gesture with my thumb. The One-X size was perfect for me so the One is my ideal choice for a replacement.
Thank you for your thread op . This is the one I'd like to know..... Going to get my first high end phone so I'm thinking not to screw up as it happened with my galaxy tab...
A good advice will be Helpful.

well note has that too
I would keep the Note 2 just because of the big screen and the SPen. All new phones will have better processors and better screens. So its just a question of money how often you want to switch your phone.
I wont replace my Note 2 for a phone with a smaler screen and no pen. I do not want to give up the two things.

Indeed - There's so many arguments for and against one or the other (please pardon the pun ) that it's just a matter a personal preference. I'd wait until the One gets to a store near you and compare them side by side for yourself. Then you should know. :good:

Well I don't know, go to a store, try the Note 2 and see by yourself? If the screen of the One is too small for you then yeah the Note 2 might be for you.

Funny, I sold my Note 2 a few weeks ago for a used Galaxy S3 which I'm reselling because I just ordered a new unlocked HTC ONE direct from HTC!
Note 2 is awesome and I highly recommend it but just make sure you can deal with the size. Most people adjust quickly and I had the original Note 1 then the Note 2 for an accumulated total of a year before I decided I wanted a smaller smartphone for all my summer activity portability (backpacking, motorcycling, wearing shorts instead of jeans,etc.).
Thus far I like the 4.7-5" range.
My thinking was this...50 yrs old, needing reading glasses so thought the Note 1&2 would fit the need...but in reality I end up using my reading glasses all the time anyway so why not just pop down to a smaller phone. Thus I worked my way to an HTC one.:cyclops:

There already is a detailed thread on HTC one vs Note 2: 'Trading Note II for HTC One'. Do a search and check out that discussion. It should help your decision-making
Currently interchangeably using HTC One, BBZ10 and Note 2
Is there anyone out there that's had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (and loved the size of the device) and then decided to go for the HTC One? If so, could I have your views please?
Currently, I have a Note 2 and am very enticed by the HTC One. However, the small screen estate is the issue - getting used to it will be a big issue and was wondering how others fared?

I traded my note 2 straight up for HTC one. Have not regretted it one bit. One has a better screen, camera, and I actually got to know and like sense 5. The only thing I really miss is multi window and sending videos to Xbox through all share

Can't wait for the Note 3 for now. Will probably replace the HTC One for the Note 3 when it comes out.
The screen, sense 5, camera and sound quality from speakers are very enticing for the HTC one. Just the screen size is the issue!
I loved my Note 2 and switch to the One. Everything is much better in my opinion and the screen size is hardly an issue for me since it looks so nice. It's actually much more manageable since it's smaller. I never had issues with my Note's screen size but this is just easier. Also, I haven't even rooted my One, nor do I plan to. I flashed stuff like crazy on my Note.

Pretty much a similar experience except that I found the one screen a little small at the beginning but the look and feel is amazing. It is a lot more manageable and the advantages outweigh the gripe about smaller screen. I hope they put a 5 inch on the next one whilst keeping the same dimensions of the handset. You won't regret it.

Well, the Note may have a larger screen, but it's lower res, which easily offsets that, unless you have bad eyesight.
made the jump no regrets. the note 2 screen look SO BAD next to the one. is one of those thing that u love until you see the ONE screen and then hated to death.

Wait for the T6 then. 5.9" Screen, Snapdragon 800, KLP. This or, yes, the Note 3.
I also had a Note 2 at one point. The HTC One is a upgrade is a couple areas.
Speakers
Camera
CPU \ GPU
Screen Display 1080p
Build Quality vs Plastic.
The screen is smaller and doesnt have a stylus but your getting a 1080p display instead of a 720p screen and I barely used the stylus.

I have the note 2 and the One. I love the note's battery life but the screen is terrible in my opinion. The outdoor visibility is poor and the resolution is low compared to recent Android devices, it somewhat negates the large screen. Not sure I want another device with an amoled screen.
I'm deciding which to sell. The note 2 just has truly all day battery life that's hard to give up. But I do like how much more manageable the One is.

I'd take the HTC one, but if you need a big screen wait for the note 3
I've yet to discover how much I will miss the Note 2's battery.
My urge to be at the top of the heap and have this awesome build quality won the battle in my mind.
Bought the HTC One. Just couldn't resist.

I disagree about speed, my Note 2 which is stock with hardly any apps on it is like a slug compared to my HTC One, everything on the One is faster and smoother in operation. The only advantages the Note 2 has are SD card, removable battery and bigger display. For me though the One battery under heavy use gets me through a day so no issue there, the screen on the One is 90% useable one handed so no issue there either and yes I do miss SD card support, but even there I have 8gb free so in all honesty I have no issues there either, in all other respects the One blows the Note 2 out of the water, IMHO

You can send videos to the Xbox with the one too. As long as they are connected to the same network, start playing the video on the phone, hit the 3 dot menu then select player... The Xbox should show up... Select it and voila! Same thing with the gallery for pics and the music player.
Title says it all, what's the census? I realize I'm asking in the Note forum, so I expect bias. I'll also post this in the m8 forum also.
Also, I'd be purchasing both off contract. m8 would be cheaper as it's older. Figure I could get the m8 for ~400-450 and the Note 4 off contract @ $699.
Main concern with Note:
1) Size. I had a Note 2 and got along alright with it. This one is a little bigger.
2) I don't like TouchWiz. To clarify more, I find the TouchWiz on the Note series a "scaled" up version of the Galaxy S phones and doesn't take advantage of the larger screen. Multi DPI apps help. So, this would require AOSP mods or ROMS. What's the Dev community like in comparison?
Main concern with m8:
1) Camera
2) No removeable battery.
3) already out of date?
Also, if anyone has general opinions who've used both, please lemme know!
Thanks Guys

In my opinion, you should figure out if you can handle the size first. If you cannot, then go no further and get a smaller phone.
TouchWiz is still Touchwiz although they scaled back a little from previous versions.
The things that blow me away with this phone (coming from Nexus 5):
Beautiful screen - best I have ever seen
Awesome camera quality
Battery life is incredible! Especially considering the screen size. Not uncommon to get 24-36 hours on one charge with proper tweaks.
Fast charge is amazing! I can charge my phone within an hour and not have to worry about it for a day.
Fingerprint scanner - I don't think I can be without it anymore. Works great with Lastpass password management which I use heavily.
Things I do not like:
Speaker on the back (not a deal breaker but why ever put a speaker on the back!!)
The things I do not like would have been longer which would have included software and Touchwiz issues but I have addressed all of them with root, ROM and hacks. I have to say this is the best phone I have ever touched but you have to be able to handle the size.
I have a M8 but I've never used a Note 4. But in this scenario, I'd choose the Note because it has the latest hardware and there's only a few more months before the next gen One will be released. (Probably Q1 2015)
If you like HTC's hardware and Sense skin but want a screen as big as the Note, you should wait on the One Max aka One Prime.

I believe the T-Mobile HTC M8 version doesn't support LTE Band 2. An with most Edge to LTE direct upgrades being Band 2. I would then go with the Note 4.

Sorry, I should have commented that the m8 I'd purchase is the verizon developer edition.
Either or. Both are great phones in their own respects. Ended up demoting my m8 to personal music player/backup phone and note4 is daily driver.
Note 4!!!
Yes, I'm bias, who cares. Definitely go with the Note 4. Personally I can't stand HTC's ....cosmetically pleasing frame, but man.....it does not compare to Samsung. Especially against the Note 4. HTC's have always failed for me.
*** Also, please do keep in mind that even though you don't like TW, you don't have to use it!!!!! Things like this shouldn't be a determining factor LOL....I just don't get how people (not you, just speaking in general) complain about something they can fix! ****
So please people (in general) stick with stuff like...."NOT having a removable batter, SD etc..." consider those kind of things that really MATTER! Not the UI where you have options to change it! :good:
I wish I could say that you can't go wrong with either....but sorry I can't LOL.
Plus, the M8 isn't even in the same league.
