[Q] How to remove HTC's check in notification? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I'm near a popular geographical location, my phone will vibrate and I'll get a notification from HTC asking if I'd like to check in. After a while this gets annoying- is there a way to disable this feature?
Thanks.

Stop ringtone for SMS and/or email

Anyone have any idea how to stop the ring/vibrate alert when I receive an email or sms? On most phones if I push a button it'll stop, but obviously it doesn't work for the tilt.
Is there a cab for this?
Thanks!
Are you looking to change the settings?
Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications
Or hit the dismiss softkey when you get a notification.
kinda.... When I hit the dismiss softkey the ring/vibrate doesn't stop. When I did a search I saw someone else with a Wizard had the same problem. But to elaborate, my ringtone for sms isn't just a beep, it's a ringtone, so I just need it to stop when I hit a key or something.
Thanks for the help

Uhhh... no it doesn't. Am I doing it wrong?
I'm not trying to adjust the settings, I just want to be able to have a ringtone for my sms, and then when it rings, be able to stop the ringtone/vibrate with a button (or a scroll wheel) anything really...
Any more ideas?
Help? whimper?
Really? Nobody knows how to fix this? Am I the only one who has this problem? I know I can just turn the ringtone off for txts and email, but then why let a great feature go to waste? There has to be a way to stop a ringtone from playing all the way through when receiving a sms. Someone? Anyone?
Thanks

net connection notification bubble & unessary services processes

1. Is there anyway to disable the notification bubble when Tilt notifies its connecting to the network, tired of preesing hide.
2. Is there any resource that identifies unessasary startup services/processes so as to disable them.
3. By the by has anyone expierienced the following.... Upon using the power button to turn off the backlight, the backlight will flicker on and off intermittently... seems to only happen when connected to power.
I just figured this out for number 1 and wanted to post it for posterity
Set the REG_DWORD Options to 0 in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{8ddf46e7-56ed-4750-9e58-afc6ce486d03}
OMG pennywisdom! I have been looking and looking for this information for a looooong time. Thanks a lot!!!!
BTW, does this also disable the 'could not connect' notification bubble? This bubble often comes up while using tomtom navigator in an area where the network coverage is poor and tomtom traffic keeps trying to connect. The bubble comes up, then if you don't acknowledge, tomtom loses focus and screen goes into screensaver...... and so on. Highly annoying! and dangerous while driving!!
For a "resource identifier" I use Dinarsoft's MemMaid and SkTools. They have a clean option that sorts out registry issues and finds bad schorcuts and uninstall data. You could also see if the rom your using has HTC task manager in settings and just shut down open apps from there.
The screen flash when you press the power button happens on some roms, i forgot how to disable it (been out of the scene for a bit) but i'm sure you'll find the solution if u search for it.

Why do a reg edit when its already available in the settings?
Go to Sounds & Notifications in settings, notifications tab on the bottom (how you change your ring/msg tones) Click the "Event" drop down list and select Connection Established, uncheck the box "Display message on screen" .. there you go.
The sounds & Notifications fix does not prevent the 'could not connect' notification bubble for me. Too bad - I have a basement office where connectivity is intermittent at best. Even although I have a rock solid WiFi connection the 'could not connect' notification bubble interupts me a lot.

The short answer is that I had no idea it was there, but it's good to know now so I don't have to remember that registry entry. Thanks!

Don't show sms preview at night

Here's one of those "how do I do this with Tasker?" questions...
I've got my SMS app set to show a preview of an incoming text. That's fine normally, but at night I use "Night Clock" on my phone as my alarm clock, and if I get a text it pops up a preview, which both blocks the time shown and creates a brighter screen that is annoying. I've already got a "night time" Tasker profile that handles volumes and notifications, so there's no audible effect, but I'd like to not get the preview during that same time. Anyone have any idea how to disable the text message preview when this profile is active? The message app is Verizon's message+, btw.
Thanks.

Does Do Not Disturb block visual notifications?

I would say that belongs to app feature. Maybe you can try to have Tasker auto dismiss it, but it will still show up first.

DnD does not block the notification. And auto-dismissing it would be fine. Now I need to figure out how to do that. Thanks!

yeah from what I understand DnD would just disable sounds and lights, what an app tries to show is something else. Maybe you can can have Tasker detects the popup and tap to dismiss it. You can also try the AutoInput plugin.
Ahhhh, auto dismissing notifications is easy!
Use AutoNotification - it's a fantastic app that's part of a set of tools.
https://joaoapps.com/autonotification/
You can do SO much with them. With tis app, all you'll do is monitor for new non-persistent notifications, then dismiss them.
One thing I use it for is when I unlock my phone, and I have a new SMS, Whatsapp, or email, the notification shade slides down so that I have easy access to them.
I did try out AutoNotification and it worked for me. I intercept the new message notification then, if do not disturb is on (nighttime setting), I send the back button, which dismisses the pop-up. Cool.
Thanks!

Open message+ app > settings > scroll down to Enable Popup Over Lock Screen > check mark. There are other settings that show up after checking this setting.

Hold your finger on the message app button until the a little screen pops up, press App info. , press Notifications, press On lock screen, press show content, then press Set as Priority. Not sure if this is what you're looking for though.
FYI message+ has many more options than message has. Give it a try.
Not seeing message+ in the app store. Who makes it?
** UPDATE ** I found that it is Verizon's messaging app.

There is no option to show content.
I did, didnt like the inability to customize it......... like customizing the photo in the desktop screen.
See attached photo regarding how to 'show content" etc.
See attached photo regarding customization of Message+. Open Message+, press 3 dots on upper right hand of screen, touch customize.
Hope this helps.
Go to messages, click settings, tap notifications (mine said "on time" then message preview toggle and pop up toggle are in there
On my S7, when a text would come in, the phone would go from "clock screen" to "lock screen" and an abbreviated message would show up.
NOW, on the S9, it's like the whole message pops up! Wish I could set it the other way. I guess I'm just more used to that...
I already turn on all show content in lock screen but when i receive new message just only led notification. Edge lighting and pop-up not working. Now, im using go-sms, edge lighting can work but i cant see pop-up message. Anyone know how to fix it? My device is SM-N950U

V40 ThinQ disable green pop-up bubble during active phone calls

I've been digging around trying to find an answer, and I think the only one I found was https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/disable-floating-popup-call-t3142001 which essentially says you need root / can't disable it.
When making a phone call (not an incoming call, but during an active call), if you switch to a different app/screen, a green floating pop-up bar appears. You can drag this bar all over the screen, but I really couldn't care less about it. It's not useful to me as the only status it shows is the call duration. If it at least showed my microphone/speaker status, it'd be useful. But I really couldn't care less how long I've been on a call.
Is there any way to disable or otherwise configure this feature? I can't even figure out what it's called.

Go into the default dialer app and select the Dial tab. Click on the 3 dot menu in the upper right and select Call Settings then select Additional Settings. There is an option called "Show voice calls while in an app". Select that and you have the option to change from a pop-up.

That's only for incoming calls. He's talking about the in-call timer floating button. Never have been able to disable it since G2. It sucks and is annoying af.

Yes, this is exactly it. Stinks that there's no way to disable it. It's almost entirely useless.
