This is a tutorial on.how to unbrick your beloved Xperia T!
Should work on.TX, TL and V aswell, just make sure you search for the correct ftf file!
The ftf file in this tutorial are ONLY for the Xperia T lt30p.
So you've bricked your new device with a wrong kernel, Rom, baseband or however?!
Well don't panic!
Usually it should be real simple to unbrick, just follow these steps!
1. First you'll need to install flastool.
Drivers com within the download, all posted at the bottom:thumbup:
2. You'll need an ftf file to flash via flashtool. (here 9.1.A.0.489, you can update or flash a Rom after)
Install flashtool on your pc, install all drivers!
If your phone is turned on and in a bootloop, turn it off!
For those of you that can't turn it on, due to wrong kernel or such, don't worry, all is good!
Place the ftf file you've downloaded, into the firmware directory from flashtool.
On.Windows you'll find it under C:/flashtool
After that, hit the flash button (the top left corner with the flash symbol)
Follow the instructions.
When flashtool tells you to connect phone by holding the back button, you'll find you can't, because you don't have one.
Use the volume down key instead, you'll go Good with that!!!
If the green light goes on, from your notification led, you did everything correctly:thumbup:
Coose the ftf file you've added in flashtool and now you should be able to see things to mark and unmark.
You can now exclude or include things you want or don't want to be flashed like kernel, baseband, firmware, fota etc.
Remeber to check that wiping cache and dalvick cache are marked. It's always of advice to wipe them before flashing!
Now that you've checked all that, hit confirm/flash and let flashtool do its job!
When.flashtool has finished, it will inform you! You can now remove the cable and turn on your device:thumbup:
Remember, after the flash it will take a while till the phone fully boots up, it may even reboot 1 or 2 times during bootup, don't worry there!

Don't forget to hit the thanks button
Cheers and have fun.with your T
I am not responsible for you bricking or damaging your device or your devices software! If you follow these steps correctly, nothing can go wrong!

Hello,
I just broke my SE X8 after attempt of installing MiniCM7.
Basically, after removing battery to make my phone shut down, then starting it, all I get is "Sony Erricson" logo and nothing further, everything stops at "Sony Erricson" logo, I tried pressing "Back" to enter xRecovery and do system restore to fix everything, but I can't even get into xRecovery.
Please assist!
Did you ...
a) ... even read the 1st post in the MiniCM7 dev thread?
b) ... unlock your bootloader (WARNING! You may hard brick your phone when it's in a certain manufacturing date range) and install the required kernel?
From the symptoms you describe it doesn't seem that way.
Also (it's just being posted several hundred times) ...
XRECOVERY DOES NOT WORK ON CUSTOM KERNELS!
EDIT: I already posted how to resolve the problem HERE

Thanks for answer!
How do I enable USB connetion if I can't get till it?
You don't need to enable "USB-Debugging"
Depending on which way you choose you ...
EDIT
a) ... need to unlock the boot loader through the required tools with the phone being in Flash-Mode
b) ... need to Flash the Kernel through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode
c) ... need to restore Stock 2.1.1 through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode
"Flash Mode" means:
- Turn the phone OFF!
- DISCONNECT the USB cable FROM your computer
- Launch Flashtool
- Select the file you want to flash
- Once Flashtool requests you to you press the Back button and KEEP IT PRESSED while you plug the USB cable into the computer.
This has nothing to do with "USB-Debugging".
Perfect!
Managed everything trough
"c) ... need to restore Stock 2.1.1 through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode"
Thank you very much!

Hi guys. I have a sony xperia t and i forgot my screen lock pin. i tried to find how to unlock it over the internet but none of the ways is working. If i connect it ot a computer and try to use the Sony PC Companion it says that the screen has to be unlocked. If i try to enter the recovery menu by holding the volume button and the power button it just vibrates 3 times and doesn't switch on at all. Any suggestions?
Thanks

enter recovery by turning off. Then turn on and only when you see the sony logo repeatedly press the volume up button.
What you are doing is the hard reset.
You could restore a backup you made before making the pin, of just do a factory reset. You will lose all your data, but you will be able to get into the phone.
Pressing once is sufficient, if done at the right time.
If on stock, while the sony logo is displayed, wait for the notification led to turn violet. When violet, press and hold volume-up. This will bring you to recovery.
To retain your data, provided you rooted, you could try to get your /data folder via ADB. Or make a backup (tar, not dup!), format the phone and then manually extract the contents of the .tar file and restore your data.
hi guys and thanks for the replies. i can't make it work. it's locked to 3 if that makes a difference. i start pressing the volume up button when the sony logo appears but the phone just boots normally and the led light doesnt even flash.

Have you rooted in the past?
Have you installed a recovery?
The phone does not come with a factory installed recovery.
Yes, it sounds like you have not installed recovery, in which case flashtool is your best bet, but you will wipe the phone if you flash an ftf.

doesn't the phone need to be with debugging mode switched on to use flashtool? i had a look at a few threads but all of them say that i have to have debugging on. i cant access my phone so that's a bit of a problem...
Yes it does...my only suggestion now is to take it back to the shop. If you forgot the unlock they must have a way of factory resetting the handset
EDIT, My mistake, the only thing you can do in flashtool with usb debugging off is flash stock FTF's
Well, the phone does come with a stock recovery that does miss out on all the great CWMR features but should offer wiping facilities. Every Android device does or should. Doesn't it?
For flashmode, usb debugging is not needed, as the phone boots into a state separated and independent of the OS and kernel.

xperia phones do not come with a built in recovery.
Flashtool does not require you to be in usb dubbing mode in order to flash.
right..i tried to flash it using the latest(i think) version of flashtool (0.9.9.0)..downloaded an ftf file and tried but i can't make it work. when it asks me to boot the phone it shows me the instructions for xperia x10, so i dont know whats the combination of buttons in order to boot it. help would be much appreciated. thanks
Read the instructions on Greg's q&a thread, all in one guide. It's easy to follow and there are numerous explanations on how to use flashtool.
Make sure you have placed an ftf in the firmware folder for flashtool and follow the instructions on Greg's guide.

Yes, the Q&A thread is a good read.
But with the latest flashtool you can drag and drop ftf files into the open window withoout having them in the firmware folder.
You get a picture of the x10 because flashtool was originally developed for the x10 but the instructions to enter flashmode are found in the q7a thread. Icould tell you here but that will mean you miss the opportunity to read the first 3 posts in that thread that have most (If not all) your questions answered.
i did it...thanks guys

Hello all!
Ok so i just got my daughter the c5306 sp on virgin about 2 weeks ago. Her friend decides to show her the mcafee app and inputs a fake email and pin.
the phone is now LOCKED!
Literally can't do anything NOR can i find a hard reset option. i tried several key combination hoping for android recovery but NADA!
And the pc companion, useless in this situation as it needs me to unlock the phone for it to work... oh and that reset button on the back... crud!
any help, anyone know how to get to android recovery?
any help is much appreciated
the sony xperia range don't have a stock recovery built in unless cwm recovery was installed and rooted before your daughter was shown/given the phone.
If it was try shutting phone down then restart and start pressing (repeatedly) vol down to enter recovery but this will only help if a backup was made which you can restore if no backup exists you to follow the next step.
If not you need to shut down phone then either use sus,PCC,flashtools to reflash the phone.
I would recommend flashtools and find the ftf you need on Sp forum then use this to get phone back working

Omg this is amazing help!
Ok so I have flash tools, is there a specific way to use it, the instructions are a little unclear.
So SP forums and get stock tft to flash with flash tools? Ok I'll try to get ahold of it! Thank you

You can find the stock .ftf files here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
You download and open flashtool (from here depending on your PC OS :http://flashtool.net/ )
Shut your phone down
From flashtool press the lighning button
Then select flashmode and press ok
Select the .245.ftf file (its the latest kernel released by Sony that you downloaded from the link above)
And then press flash
then it will open a new window showing a phones a usb cable and a back button
With your phone powered down you hold the "Volume Down" button down and while holding plug the Usb cable to your phone
It will take some time flashing the data and then it will say "Phone Connected in flashmode"
Disconect and boot the phone
This procces could Hard brick your phone so be careful and follow the steps!!!
If you are not willing to take the chance just do it with SUS
open it then go to update phone/tablet
fix phone/tablet and follow the instructions on the screen
But it will be ok i flashed kernel 4 times to my phone (for rooting it)
Good Luck
you can use SUS to reflash the fimware
Hey Guys, Im new here and that's my first post, I really really need some help! First, I'm really sorry by my english!! I just need some help, I don't know what to do and I heard that's the only place with lots of nice people with know-how and good will to help!
I was rooting my Z1 and I did it right with the Root, the DualRecovery but something goes wrong when I was about to install the CYANOGENMOD ROM. There's a moment when the tutorial tells me to rename a file from ROM CM to ROMcm.zip and transfer it to xperia's memory stick. After that, I reboot my cell in Recovery mode and clicked in Install Zip File to install this ROM I renamed and after I clicked in Reboot. My Z1 doesn't turn on anymore. When I hold the power Button he vibrates one time and nothing happens. If I keep holding, he keep vibrating. When I connect by USB, he do not appear on my computer... After I see that file I rename it on my pc, instead of "ROMcm.zip" the name was "ROMcm.zip.zip" (with 2 zips)...maybe can this be the problem..
I don't know what to do
First, welcome to XDA!
To restore your Z1, download FTF file and FlashTool (You can find it around XDA) (Make sure to install FlashTool driver)
first hello to xda too ^^
when flashmode doesent work (what i dont think) try the wallcharger trick leave it at least one night connected to the wallcharger and see what happends
but hopefully an ftf works for you good luck bro
and is your bootloader unlocked?
Hi Folks,
I'm wondering if you could help me please? I myself am pretty familiar with Android, but my missus has an Xperia T which is very alien to me. For instance, finding it has no stock recovery confuses me massively.
We wiped the phone whilst troubleshooting a speaker issue. Once it was set up again, she wanted to change the lockscreen photo. I advised it was probably in the Security menu. I didn't realise this, but she had never known it had PIN lock built in, so she decided to set it and promptly forgot it.
I have been searching the internet for a solution as well as Q&A here. I found in the sticky threads that I could reset it by booting into flash mode and installing flashtool, however the links there and in another thread to flashtool are both dead.
I also found that it could be done by the Sony update service, but this is no longer supported and has been replaced with PC companion - which doesn't seem to do what I want.
I'm not bothered about the data. I moved everything to the external Sdcard before wiping the first time. Can anyone please advise how I can factory reset the phone that I cannot unlock? It's completely stock, unrooted etc
From reading around, am I right in thinking if I can get into fastboot, adb works from there on this phone (unlike others)? If so I will just delete the lock code from the database if it's easier.
Any advise is gratefully received.
Dan
Step 1: Download Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Step 2: Download an appropriate Firmware in the FTF format from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648320
I would suggest to use the same version, which is installed on your phone.
Step 3: Ensure the driver for the phone is installed and works correctly.
Step 5: In Flashtool, select the lightning "Flash device", then Flashmode. Select your Firmware. As I don't know, where Android stores the information about the lockscreen, you have a bit to experiment. For sure it will work, if you wipe everything and flash every SIN File. But maybe you can save the DATA, therefore uncheck the DATA box at the WIPE section and exclude PARTITION.
Step 6: Click the flash button and turn off your phone. If you connect it via USB to your PC, press immediately POWER + VOLUME DOWN. The notification LED turns green and the flash process begins.

PS: I have the phone since one year, but I still don't fully understand the recovery system. Usually there is a recovery partition, but the Xperia T hasn't one. It is somehow connected with the kernel image ... still confusing.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
Lockscreen should be in /data/system/locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm, locksettings.db-wal
Hey @am486 - thanks for clarifying the process. It worked.
You are welcome
