So the news is all over the place by now, today is the day ICS ruu's are rolling out in mainland China. People are freaking out and Google translate has never been used so much by members of the Xda IncS forums.
So I decided to create this thread as a general place to talk about new updates, expectations, let downs, and anything else ICS related.
It has been a long time coming (6 months or so) but it's finally starting to roll out. We await the n00bs, the new devs, the "Help!!!! I bricked my phone!" Threads, the daily flashing of CM Nightlies, user mods, and the generally missed rush of traffic here on the IncS boards.
The wait is over.
Discuss.
Good Idea, I will repost the important info I posted elsewhere:
I have found someone who is downloading the s710e update, but it is going very slowly. Probably will be tomorrow before you guys can get your hands on any ROM's but I will keep an eye on it, as soon as a file appears I will get to work!
BTW, there is an easy way to tell the difference:
The CDMA version is 4.08.1401.3 (348.1MB)
The version we want is 4.08.1400.2 (and is only 251.26MB)
And it is Sense 3.6, despite the filename saying Sense 3.5
IMPORTANT
If an image (RUU, .exe or P32IMG) appears, and you aren't planning to use it for dev or creating a mirror, then please don't download it. You won't be able to do anything with it, and it will just suck up bandwidth and slow down those who can make use of it!
The Desire S has a leaked 4.0.4, the s710d has 4.0.3.
What Version of Android will get the IncS? I hope it's 4.0.4, i can wait 1 week more for this.
3.6

Once we have the files it will be no problem for devs to keep us up to date. I strongly suggest that if anyone plans on rooting their phone to do it now as it is likely that the new ruu will come with an updated h-boot which will take time to learn how to circumvent s-off.

But i dont really want to root and s-off my phone, it runs good at the moment...

Dependant on HTC Europe and you carrier, you will probably have to wait 2 - 3 months for the update officially

+1 I'd bank on at least 2 months. But if your not one to be tech savvy than your going to be waiting a while : (

How could you not... generally they start with a stable version and increase functionality with every nightly build decreasing the wait time for experienced users between stable builds. As you can see I'm still on 146 and I've been waiting ever since

I highly doubt it will be any time soon and it wont be till after Europe is done getting it. But you never know, your best bet is to phone HTC or bell to get an eta.

So for the first time ICS updates are becoming Asia-centric. Can we expect Taiwan, Singapore & India to get the next updates? Or will they switch to EU, as usual?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
I think the updates roll out in a geographic circle starting in Asia but I could be wrong.

Any leaks of Google edition 4.2 ruu for the htc one. I'm running d3rp now but AOKP is my favorite.

We'll have to wait a while longer. Even the AT&T hasn't gotten an RUU yet, and their device is identical to the GPe.
Ours is slightly different. The GPe ROM will have to be ported to our device.
And it's best not to ask for when it'll come or if it's here yet. Don't pressure our awesome devs!

Some of the htc devs know me and my sarcasm. I just want the android fixes for BT, data drop, lte, etc. and the kernel source. I never ask for ETA's.

Curious,
androidpolice posted an article about the source code being available on a google mirror. The code includes the kernel source obtainable from htcdev.
No link because I haven't made enough posts.
Do you think that is usable?

The short answer is that the One GPe is basically the AT&T variant of the One and not the Srint One, so the source is not for our phone.

Nothing as of yet. When info is available, someone here will be all over it and will post a thread
Side note.. they got a fully working ROM over in the GSM forums for the One. Hopefully it can come to the Sprint variant soon!

Thx for the info. I was actually going for a troll but I guess you saw me coming
According to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395, Jerry Hildenbrand from AndroidCentral gave them the system dump. So I'm sure a dev can just ask him again for that dump
EDIT:
Scratch that, the system dump is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340198

Why cant it be flashed to Sprint, Sense is just like a ROM isn't it? it wouldn't be like porting a version of android over, or am I wrong?

Its definitely much more than that buddy. Wish it was that simple tho.
One of the fine editors over at android central had heard, unofficially of course, to expect something in november. So while that may or may not be for the international One, we weren't that far behind for the 4.3 launch, and as this is a relatively minor update in comparison, I don't see why it would take any longer for this to go through the proper channels.

As Noteboy states: There isnt going to be an official update from samsung.
The only way to get the KitKat experience is if you flash an AOSP-based ROM.
Unless somebody develops a kitkat based touchwiz rom; which might never happen.
Unfortunately never.

But isnt it against Kitkat's approach in the first place?
Wasn't kitkat for the old phones as well?
And today I held another phone in my hands for almost like 5 hours or something, after that my note felt like godlike phone.
Note is still good.
Maybe doesn't need kitkat at all but idea to make old phones work more efficient sucks then.

If note 1 is ever getting a update, it's after 2014 April. Custom ROMs are always better, without bloatware and Knox and stuff. TouchWiz free!

No there is no way. The phone was designed to work with lollipop and onward although some early builds had kit kat but no dumps.
Stick with lollipop, no point in going back not even with xposed. I'll have to be compatible
