Skype got an official update and is supposed to support video calling.
However the list of supported phones is restricted in the description of the application: Google Nexus S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo and Sony Ericsson Xperia pro.
I tried it on my SGS and I can't see any option to video call. I'm running 2.3.4 official.
Has someone been able to use that feature on SGS ?

No you're not, as 2.3.4 is not officially available for the Galaxy S yet. I wonder if that's the problem?

Sorry, I guess I came across as sarcastic - not intentionally, I assure you I was wondering if the 'leaked' firmware had something to do with the problem, but it seems not...

Urgh, is that so? But then I would list down all my country's home brew cellphones, but it would be endless. XD
Lol, please do it! I want to see what you guys have!
I'll start:
- uPhone
- Samsung Universe S VII
- HTC Once X
- Nokia Luna
Sent from my GT-N7000

- iMobile x (brand name, legit)
- mMobile (also legit)
- iMobil
- EezoPC Transformer

- iLife
Dunno why, seems like the initial is the most important thing in the branding. And I think I could start a new thread just for the KIRF. XD
Edit: Some of the names are actually legit companies with plenty of their own phone production lines.

Hello dears,
I write here for the first time in LG 4X forum and I don't want people those who already bought this device to misunderstand me please
the device is really equipped with the latest and fastest hardware at factories,
But..
LG as company is not new, it was (Gold Star) company and replaced the complete ID of the cheap company with Gold Star with LG as new brand.
and the new department decides to get the latest in the market and hit it with the newest electronic weapons as your 4X
I got a past trying with LG devices, with P990 and P999 (G2X) it was really perfect as hardware but as software, it is still with GB v2.3.5 as the final stock ROM from LG, start from v2.2
I don't why LG can't support her devices to the latest software at google android !!!
So the point that I want to reach here is:
Don't expect LG to support your device to the latest ROMs of android, it will stop at 4.1.1 or 4.2 and stop there then you will see the support from MIUI or CM team, but not LG and will face ton's of change log's and (what working) (what is not)
LG is good for short month's of usage but not for long time.
Hope LG support department read this thread and try to support the software teams in the future.
hope you got what I means
Regards

You are very optimistic thinking that reached 4.1 1

I disagree. It looks to me that LG won't even update our 4x to jelly bean.
Lg are bunch of noobs.
To lg - if you are planning to fight with the likes of Samsung/HTC - offer same type of service. Like Unlock tool for the bootloader. Or unlocked boot loader from factory. At least that way we can make our own way into future updates...
I hate myself for buying a lg! Wasn't even aware of locked boot loader. Next time I will sniff around1000 times before deciding to buy a lg.
How many updates to the firmware has there been since the phone was released? And where are the fix lists?

there are 10a to 10f firmware and i think the update only to solve the problem and i think there will be no update because they think they do a good job...... if they reliaze it!!

Fixes are fine by my book, ICS is already a very good platform to use. Sure, JB brings more improvements but it is game changing compared to GB to ICS.
Can you show me the fix list? I've searched a lot on google but no one seems to have it..
Perhaps we can hope that lg will upgrade the 4x hd directly to Key Lime, if the rumors about a sonn-to-come Optimus Nexus are true...

1. LG Optimus Nexus is not a rumor, but true
2. Yeah, maybe they're working about something (i'm f*ckin optimistic)
Although, LG's software support is crap, i'd still choose their Hardware over HTC's. And, just being chose by Google as the manufacturer for their new flagship device...LG will hopefully get more love by devs. The Optimus 4x HD is a true beast, it's a shame that LG won't unleash its true capabilities. I've been contemplating in whether to get an O4x HD (price is soooo cheap) or just wait for the LG Nexus G (which is most likely what im guna do). Either way, my next phone will be an LG. For some reason, i've becomed very bored with Samsungs, especially with my S3.
LG is going to make a conference on 24-25 oct, hope we'll get some infos about updates
http://lgepr.lge.com/CommonEmailPopup.laf?pageFlag=Notice&sendId=2698*
LG need to much time, they will update.
I have sent an email to Lg about Key Lime Pie upgrade policy on P880, an operator has answered me that they don't know when Optimus 4X HD will be upgraded to Key Lime Pie and actually the OS debut has been postponed...
According to you, this mean that we could hope that Lg a day will release Key Lime Pie? :fingers-crossed:
I think that if the users of this smartpone, shows interest in the new OS and put pressure on Lg about upgrade there is a good chance to get official Android 5.0
Wait a moment, I have to ask my glass sphere... I think that nobody knows that we will receive any update.

Users already put pressure on LG for JB and it came so "good" that everybody wanted to go back to ICS. Even JB leak was better than official JB. In my opinion it's better not to make any update than making something as "good" as this JB.
Plus, by the time they agree to make new update and manage to make it you will buy new phone because it will be in 2-3 years from now.
Next Android will be 4.3 Jelly Bean, not 5.0 KLP..
I think we were lucky LG upgraded the 4x to 4.1 jellybean doubt we will even get official android 4.2 JB upgrade, so android Keylimepie is defiantly not going to come to our devices unfortunately.
Guys!!! seriously you need KLP officially? we have cynogenmod support. Though official support sucks can't u get that even now? lg can never update there products how they planned I am confident we get awesome KLP support from XDA
Developer's community.

I think we won't get somehting official not 4.2 not 4.3 and sure not 5.0!? We will get CM 11 or something like that with new Jelly Bean or KeyLimePie but official.... no it's LG and they got the Optimus G (Pro) as nest flagship so no... just NO!

Optimus G is really similar to 4X HD in terms of speech, Galaxy SIII that is the parallel Samsung alternative and is outclassed by Galaxy S4 will receive Key Lime... Why you find this so absurd?
Surely LG support isn't that special but you have to remember that Optimus 2X has received official ICS (android 4.0.4) from the original Froyo(2.0).

Optimus 4X came with ICS on the day-one and Jelly Bean is a minor upgrade of ICS in terms of SDK (despite the abyssal difference between 2.0 and ICS)

Is there any OEM that supports its devices beyond the 1 year margin? No, nexus devices dont count.
I doubt sammy will update its S3 to KLP either. If you guys were to go after each OEM you would find out that all of them have the same issues.
Sony: Quality, Warranty, Support issues
LG: Same as above
HTC: Same as Above
Samsung: Same as above
"Insert OEM here": Same as above.

Yeah, to them, money is the most important - customer service and all that is secondary.
It's sad but true - next phone I get will definitely be a Nexus, best value for money and always updated.

I think depends also by popularity and user's pressure.
Lg Optimus 2X has received ICS in 2 years.
Samsung Galaxy S2 update to ICS was not sure but after many concern about update by the users, has received ICS upgrade and actually also Jelly Bean and was launched in 2011, beyond two year support, (ad the KLP for S3 is semi-official).
Korean OEM's work on updating its lineup to Android 4.4. According to our tipster, many of LG's devices will be going straight to Android 4.4, skipping right over Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 in most cases. Among the models cited by our source are the LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus F6, LG G Pad 8.3 (including Verizon model), LG G Pro Lite, LG Optimus F7, LG-D315 (unannounced), LG LS740 (rumored to be the successor to the LG Optimus F3), LG Optimus L9 II, LG Optimus Vu II, LG Vu III, and the curvy LG G Flex.
If this information pans out, LG has really been working hard, bringing all of these models to Android 4.4. Our tipster made it clear that LG is not bothering with Android 4.3 for any of its devices. He also wanted to point out that the LG Optimus 4X HD will be sticking at Android 4.1.2. That is a model that is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

Actually, we kinda do
Well, not the ROM/system itself, but its blobs
The older blobs get, the harder it is to get newer Android versions working, as the old blobs lack some functions or are having some other integration problems.
We already are lucky having 4.4 running on our device, but I can, and will, not guarantee that we will be able to have Android 5 running as a daily driver. However, we are very lucky that grouper and the x3 are that similar, so we can use grouper blobs. So all we can do is to hope for grouper to be officially supported as long as possible
