[Q] Most Stable ROM

Hi everyone,
I recently installed android on my friend's Touch Pad. Which ROM do you recommend as the most stable/usable ROM? (While being new and hopefully rather current as - like Android 4.1 or 4.2). My friend is definitely not familiar with flashing or anything like that, but she knows how to use android. As I will be moving out of the state at the end of this week, I want to leave her with a good ROM that will be nice and stable and easy for her to use. What do you all suggest? Thanks!

Tough one just have to flash them all and test I would go for cm10 night lies because they'll constantly update it and all you have to do is go into settings and update it.

Thanks, I'm trying a couple. I had a 4.2.2 mashup of CM, AOKP, and PA. It was a bit buggy, and probably too confusing for my friend. She does really like the PIE controls though so I'm trying to get a stable one with those. If not I'll just go for the CM10 nightlies probably. Thank you sir!

for me, the most stable roms are the standard CM9 nightlies.
they benchmark higher than any of the 4.2.2 builds, and has working bluetooth and no UI issues as noted on the CM10 and CM10.1 builds.
every few weeks I backup my HP touchpad and install some of the latest roms and always come back to CM9. it just works better, and best of all, it has a better UI (while the tablet UI mod helps with CM10 and 10.1, it does not fix all of the issues. and for CM10.1 there is no 120dpi so you are stuck with everything being oversized for the screen
while with cm9 all you need is the CWM flashable 120dpi patch which still works with the latest nightly builds and takes care of any market place issues.
Overall for everyday use, CM9 is still the way to go.
I attached the 120dpi patch that I use. It only works on CM9

I've used both CM9 & CM10 and found them to be very stable.

I downloaded. And installed the LCD density trick. Fonts are too small for me. How can I undo it?

If you are on CM10 and the 120dpi is too small, to undo it flash the 160dpi file
the CWM dpi patches are the only ones that have worked for me, I have tried android 4.1 and 4.2 and the only recommendations for adjusting the dpi is using apps from the market place and all of the recommended ones for me have not worked, most causes the rom to not boot fully.
The main thing holding me back from going to anything higher than CM9, is the lack of stable bluetooth support, the new android 4.1+ UI that is just a more screen space wasting version of the cellphone UI (not tablet optimized at all), and the issue with no 120DPI mod working with it.

Have been using CM9 for a long time with no complaints other than battery life. I think there may be some kernels that are better, but I like when the battery runs out and my kids have to put it down. A timer of sorts. I have not found a combination that can compare to WebOS for battery life. But, Android has all the latest stuff now for the kids, so, Android it is. I still use WebOS, though, when I can.

CM10.1 nightlies by milaq have been very stable for me. I experienced random crashing of the default browser in CM9 nightlies but none in CM10.1.
Obviously the missing Bluetooth in CM10.1 may be an issue for some but I haven't really used BT for anything.

I forgot to mention that no more random reboots for me with CM10.1. They were daily with CM9.

Try milaq's new cm10.2 nigtly! It's even more stable and faster!

i beg to differ. I would go with shumash 4.2.2. ROM

[Q] CM 10.1 Nightly very slow on LG O2X?

I'm using a build from the 3rd of August of the CM 10.1 Nightly.
I tried installe twice and both installations is slooooooooow. So slow. It lags in general use.
Any other with the same problem? Any alternatives for a working rom (CM maybe?) on the LG O2X?

If you look at the sources of cm10.1 you can see that there is no p990 related changes in the source code since the official cm10.1 got released to our device.

The Tony rom, is that build over CM 10.1? It works a bit better.
Anyone has a direct link for the official latest LG rom for the device, which is possible to install from a zip-file, like with CM.

Yes, tonyp is working on the cm10.1 source code, he and other developers implemented a lot of changes and fixes for cm10.1 since offical 10.1 was released. Pengus is responsible for the kernel side of the cm10.1

you should just try and watch different roms on this forum and watch what you like.
Btw cm10.2 almost everything working and it seems smoother but only thing is that the cameras don't work yet Just give some roms a try like miui and those kind of roms

Recording a call on AOSP roms

Hi,
Is there a way to record a two way call with an AOSP ROM (Carbon in specific).
I tried so many apps but none of them work.
Is it even possible ?
If so, which app do you use ?

I am on CM nightlies (10.2) and Call Recorder from skvalex is working great. It worked well with stock based ROMs too.
You can find a trail and beta versions in his thread.

You don't have to be sorry, it is ok . Do you have his AlsaMixer app from the play store installed? It is a muss usually for Call Recorder to work.
You could also try another kernel. Like stock CM. If it is working for me, don't know why it wouldn't for you.
And I doubt you will find any other app that will work. So your only option is to change the ROM, or at least the kernel (maybe it will work.) , or to forget 2w call recording with that phone. Or even any other phone. Because there is no dev around who will make this kind of app working with all possible custom ROMs / kernels.
skvalex actually supports only stock kernel / ROMs, but it happens often that that app works with custom kernels too, like this time with CM.
Sometimes it works almost on all kernels, like with Galaxy Nexus. Only kernel I know that didn't work with Call Recorder on GN is Ezeekel's one.

Hi, is there a patch zip file for the front camera? because every time i used other Rom, front camera doesnt work, Only the Rom stable to my P1000 and working camera is AOKP jb 4.1.2, thanks.

The (Front) Camera + Bluetooth problems are both well known post Android 4.1.2. (i.e. CM10.1 or CM10.2)
If you wish to continue using those Features you'll have to stick with Android 4.1.2. ROMs (CM10).
As you have already noted akop-sgt7 works well with our GT-P1000s, as does those from Paranoid Android, and Sapir.
I suppose the next question is will we ever get to see a working CM10.1/.2 mod for our GT-P1000s now that Android 4.4.x (CM11?), is now out?
Here's hoping that those Builds won't be plagued by those same Bugs!

i am currently using 10.1 4.2.2, and it dose that on both back and front cam...
very annoying especially when filming

I could say no it doesn't, then again I could also say that I don't use CM10.1/(.2) Android 4.2.2 / 4.3.1 either because I prefer a 100% WORKING Environment over having the latest shiny shiny, either.... It seems to me like you've been 'round long enough to known that much of it to by now. If you like the (Front) Camera & Bluetooth that much, and who doesn't? Then you had best stick with CM10 based ROMs for now...

actually i just started the whole rooting and flashing rom thing last week
so i am kind of new to all this
so CM10 rom are problem free?

sorry to ask a noobish question
but how do i flash from 10.1 to 10.2?
too i need to do anything extra?
or just simply copy the rom into my phone and flash as usual?

Yes I would say that any number of CM10 based ROMs (HumberOS, Paranoid Android, Sapir to name a few), all work very well in my experience,

Same question applies... Does the (Front) Camera, and Bluetooth work?! If not why waste our time with it?
@Icarus1314; Very simple rule CM10 WORKS... CM10.1, and CM10.2 + CM11 currently do NOT work! Its still early days as far as CM11 goes, and People are working on it for the P1000, but it may still be some time before we actually see anything at all, if ever. As far as the (Front) Camera & Bluetooth is concerned.
After all this was a Bug that plagued this Device for nearly a Year now, and it still hasn't been fixed.
P.s. If your looking for "compatible" ROMs for your Device. I'd suggest you go to the Play Store (Formally the App Market), and download, and install the Goomanager app. Then search for compatible ROMs, and pick the last CM10 ROM http://goo.im/devs/cm/p1/nightly/cm-10-20130203-NIGHTLY-p1
You can also just download it to your Computer by going to http://goo.im and "Browse roms by device" (search) GT-P1000, or P1.
Sadly goo.im seems to be a bit wonky after their most recent update. So you might either have to fight though it, or find a different source.

full wipe / wipe dalvik and flash cm10.1 that's all

Cam still Rom issue
It seems that porting camera features take too long now... fc on video on cm11... still front cam issue

[Q] No sound in outgoing calls on official CyanogenMod 11

There is no sound in outgoing calls on my P880 running the latest CM11 nightlies starting from approx. the one released on the 24th of Septemeber, maybe earlier (I've seen this reported by other users as well in the development thread, but since I am a new user, I cannot just +1 there). The problem persists with the latest nightly that was just released (20140927). The issue does not appear with the M10 SNAPSHOT release (or an older nightly).
Is there a better way to workaround this issue, since I would really feel better having the ShellShock patched bash version installed, and I am not sure if I can only upgade that somehow.

23. 09. nighty works fine, run with it till issue is fixed

Nothing uses Bash in Android by default so there's nothing to fear from.
