I hate when people are ignorant. When they think a solution to a problem is the buy a brand. It seems that brands are everything. When someone drops their phone in water people say "You should have bought a Sony" without even specifically tell which type of Sony device. Or when someone complains that their phone is to small they say " My Samsung is perfect for the size" without saying which type of Samsung device. It just got me thinking how powerful brands are. Share your own experience of Brands being used in place of actual products.

My experience is, threads like this get the official XDA lock.
A bit too general there. Sorry.

Hi,
This post is not written with the intention to cause any fellow poster blood pressure, its a genuine enquiry I am making.
Take the bull by the horns.
Can a technician or engineer explain to me what I am failing to grasp in relation to this ever on going situation with regard to 'viewing angles' ?
In terms of a TV I can obviously see this being a criteria relevant to any test as a TV is not a one to one user experience but a multi use device, meaning the viewers, plural, will sit at different angles to the screen.
In terms of a mobile phone how does this much used and tested criteria apply? Genuine question. I am obviously missing something and I dislike not being in the know. Any educative answer would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

You aren't failing to grasp anything other than the fact that some people like nit-picking. I've recommended people to buy everything from TVs to PCs and yes, to mobile phones. Nobody looks at their screen in any way other than head-on.
Taking a 2% example (in this case, viewing a video with a friend) and applying it across the whole board is absolutely ridiculous. What I've stated will not apply when your job requires you to view videos with people-and I don't know of such a job
There. A completely honest response.
For a mobile device held in the hand it doesn't matter. A slight shift of the wrist if at all affected and problem is sorted.
As for a T.v......it does matter as you say, different seating positions will cause discomfort for one or more users at any one time.
It's a bull...t reason to hate on a phone.
I remember the day's of sending txt messages made up of symbols to make a picture.
Now people are complaining about viewing angles on a full HD screen.
Please.

Wow... xda senior members (even mods) cant "think" , what I wz up to...
If being spoon fed iz what "necessary" , to get ppl understand you, here is it...
My friends dad iz a dealer for sammy here in Mumbai, India.
He says that they loose 8 handsets in every 50 on an avg. Coz shopkeepers claim that some prefer HTC or Sony over Samsung, coz Samsung phones look ugly when placed between these two...
These ppl are not before specs to the extent that they can compromise on looks...
He says Samsung approximately keeps a margin of 7000-8000 INR on each headset in the first few months of launch...
Number is this big in just my city...
Come to the terms with other parts of the world and the money involved (loss) is considerable....
At the same time there's absolutely no restrictions on it to maintain the form factor....
Still its up bearing the loss with the strategy...
What I meant with the post wz , can you guys figure out the future plans..?
(Not asking anymore, already got my answer, from two users and a mod..)
What I guess iz that it has planned a change in design, and when it would release it wld create a new vibe...
That wld probably happen when the series wld start loosing it's hold on buyers...
To mod: posting my previous one in general wld have been inappropriate, coz it has noting to do with android..
close this thread too, if u still feel it isn't worth a talk....

If u understand english in the way guys at gsmarena say.
" Design and handling
The Galaxy S4's design is what's changed the least when compared to the Galaxy S III. The smartphone uses the same Hyperglazed finish, on account of which the predecessor was bashed for feeling like a plastic toy rather than a proper flagship. And the Galaxy S4 will most likely receive the same criticism. After all, it doesn't come anywhere near the premium feel of a Sony Xperia Z, let alone the HTC One. "

No thanks in OT..
There, a nice clean thread.....closed to keep it that way.
Hey all, I recently bought the Nexus 5. The first handset I had to return due to screen hardware problems. The second is in fully working order. I am however not adjusting to the Nexus very well. It does not feel premium and its got glitches and bugs that are most annoying (Noise cancellation microphone cancelling out my own voice, for example..) I have just ordered the Z1 as I had the Xperia J and loved it before moving to the N5, despite it being slow and old it worked and made calls (lols). Is the Z1 problem free?

1) Thanks for the useful title, I didn't know what phone this forum was for
2) wrong section
3) If you really wanted to know if it was problem free do you not think it would be better to ask before ordering it
4) All the information about any "problems" are all in the general or Q&A section, just give them a read.
I have genuinely thanked you for your troll post as it made me laugh.

There are no real 'problems' perse. The software is pretty much bug-free. Only big thing I can think of that needs improvement is Superior Auto mode on the camera. Other that there are some hardware stuff that cant be changed (viewing angles).
Thank you for your reply. I'm not too worried about viewing angles. I know it annoys a lot of people on a range of devices but to be honest it has never bothered me. If that's the only hardware thing then I'm not worried. The Nexus 5 has quite a few and I'm just not wanting the same hassle. I already ordered the Z1 as I knew if there were problems, being a Sony device then they would only be mild.

Try going first to the Sony mobile forum talk.sonymobile.com and see for yourself, then decide again whether you will get the z1 or not.
I don't know, I saw that phone and I take ti, now I have "mild" problems but for me they are not mild.

offP: Dont take serious about that guy gregbradley. he thinks he is the father of xperia phones. encouraging people, disrespecting people etc..
really an annoying guy. you can see all his posts, then u can understand his mentality. this is a forum for helping, studying etc.. some guyz like gregbradly only making this forum unstable. and he thinks he is a bighead. i hope xda review his posts and cancel his title " Recognized Contributor " or ban him.. dont care abt him.
Anyways, We cannot say Xperia Z1 is problems free.. No phones are 100% perfect, so Z1?? Some common issues on Z1 are, Display yellow tint (not all the phones, but some), touchscreen, lil low sound, bootloader unlock .. all can be fixed.. even bootloader problem if you take a backup of TA before unlock the bootloader.. so dont worry about anything,. just buy and experience the premium device.. you can see the fixes on this Z1 forum.. By the way the viewing angles are not an issue.. in my phone angles are pretty good.. Best of luck.
Thank you Azam. Your advise has been helpful. I now have to choose between my Note 3 and my Z1 when the Z1 arrives in an hour.

Have you seen what he has commented on recently, and what I too have seen starting to overflow the forums since 2012.
Stupid questions!
I'm talking particularly about those who come in an registers as member just to start a new thread to write or start bickering about something they don't understand.
At the same time there is a thread two inches down that explaines it all.
You can't expect every skilled person in here to make a 1000 word essay everytime someone asks how to get in recovery etc.
Someone needs to be told that they actually have to put in work to get what they want.
In this day and age where the internet containes so much, it boggles my mind that they don't even know how to use keywords on google.
Yet they don't even think twice before jumping in and bricking their expensive device, ignoring all warnings in the process.
It is nice that with alot of members, developers has a bigger audience to test their stuff and get feedback.
There are of course many more advantages, but I'm not going to name them all.
The members I'm thinking of are quite easy to spot. You can see they haven't invested any time here or contributed/participated.
They just come in frustrated, questioning and swearing over what a bad buy, should never have trusted this company etc etc.
To feature some experiences and such I think is quite ok, especially in accessories and apps.
There isn't exactly a shortage of android forums, why can't they share their feelings there?
xdaDEVELOPERS anyone?
I'm not trying to give the impression that I'm a developer, and I am thankful for being allowed here at all.
But I do try to read up on stuff, so as to save the time of those poor souls who actually bothers to help the people who don't want to help themselves.
Just wanted to say that I have received my Z1 and straight away I can see the quality compared to my Nexus 5 and Note 3 is amazing. Such a good solid build that fits well in my hand. Noticed the yellow tint on certain webpages people have talked about but as the screen is capable of showing white pixels, I'm guessing this is a software bug that will eventually be ironed out. And if not, its not something that would bother me.

Kindly test also if you have the touchscreen problem.. I think that the yellow tint and touchscreen problem dont co-exist. You will have either one of them or a black screen or overheat OR a perfectly working Z1
Hope nobody gets upset. I asked on the wrong forum so hope it's ok to ask here. This site is probably the most widely known unshown brand around if you can call XDA's name a brand. I see people proudly putting there fruit sticker on their prius which says "I know how to turn on a phone" versus an XDA sticker saying "not only do I know how to use an Android but I believe in the freedom to customize any way I want". OK I'll get off my soap box now =P
Why do you keep trolling the forum with this?
Enough already
Looks like you found the answer to your question
