First post, noob post, searched the forum found things that are similar to my question but not a definite answer.
I just got my hands on an HTC ONE 64GB Developer Edition from the US and the 4G LTE frequency on it is 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
And where I currently live the 4G LTE connectivity is 800/1800/2600 MHz.
I did some reading and found out that my device is considered as HTC ONE M7UL
And the UL falls within the 801s category and in turn that supports my 4G LTE category.
Added to that it has the same modem of MDM9125.
Taking that into consideration, is it possible to do whatever to make my phone's frequency compatible with my service provider. As for my understanding the frequencies in the device have been blocked for the US market, can I do something to make it work?
I have never flashed, rooted or did anything to an Android phone because I am completely lost and this is my first Android device coming from an iPhone.
So, your help will be much appreciated into guiding me with the correct information to help me out.

I haven't seen any posts that have tried flashing radios to change the bands supported. I'm still sceptical that it could work.
Plus, I think you read the table wrong, and I know of at least one error in that table.

Thank you for your reply...Well, I'm not certain of the error you are talking about but at least it is worth a shot to flash it!!
Will save a lot of users the hassle of waiting for another version of the phone!

From what I have read, the dev has a different supporting chip for the bands than the international version. I don't think flashing anything will help.

If only I don't have an HTC One I'm willing to get that. I too have those LTE frequencies but I'm willing to sacrifice LTE for an additional storage. But too late already have a 32gb EU version which has matching 4g frequencies for your network but meh! Only 32gb storage.

I just put an order for a Black HTC One 64GB with matching LTE frequencies. It covers 1800/2600MHz which is where I live; Bahrain is under the 1800 range.
I can never downgrade from a 64GB haha.. My ONE X+ was FULL.. 32GB would drive me crazy haha!!
Now, I think I'll hang around this form to do some flashing business, sounds like fun haha!!!
Anyway, our LTE network isn't that great because they just started up a few months back and the reception is rather poor but it spikes up to 60mbps!

That would be safe, but you may want to wait a couple of weeks to see if a solution develops to flash radios.

I'm pretty sure it is possible because it's a UL device and shares all the same features that the US/Canada/Asia/Middle East/Australia/Europe have got... So, that shouldn't be an issue.. It's a tiny little thing inside the system that needs to be smacked with a nice flash.
Hopefully, someone comes up with this ASAP and makes life much more easier to buy a device from anywhere in the world and not get screwed like me!!:good:

There was a post that showed pictures of a couple of different variants of the One. They had a different support chip that worked with the generic radio chip. So there is a possibility that hardware may keep the variants from cross flashing. We just don't know. It is also possible that it is simply software flashing somewhere in the various partitions.
If we get a US T-Mobile RRU and it gets to be flashed over a different model, then we will know.

Awesome. I'm also interested in this. I got the US Developer version but live in Asia (but travel to the US often). Would be nice to use LTE in both places with the same phone. I absolutely love this phone though. Much nicer than my S3...

I went with the TMO model rather than Dev, but it would be great to be able to flash for whatever region of the world that is desired. Hopefully it will happen!

Just because I have the time.
1. You need to buy an unlocked version online, just google it.
2. It is GSM and unlocked, it should work with T-Mobile, but is not compatible with any US 3G networks. So for now only 2G
3. You can only but it unlocked, I have seen anywhere from $700 to $1000

As denco7 stated, you'll have 2G network speeds but you won't get 3G. Unfortunately, that's a hardware limitation. Something that changing the radio cannot fix.

Is the lack of ability to support the US AT&T 3G frequencies a ROM issue or a hardware issue?
I really don't know. From reading it is a hardware issue....but.... if it's like the TP2 and you go to where you can select which bands to use the AT&T bands are listed.

The AT&T bands are not listed as being supported. I was hoping it was a ROM issue so that a radio ROM could fix the issue. It looks as if that is not the case. Makes no sense to me why HTC would want two different GSM based hardware platforms to support.
They did it with the first TP though. The European TP has no US 3g bands

I did not realize that because I am still using the Kaiser. There must be some good reason they chose to do this, but it escapes me. Anyway, unless there is a possibility for a ROM enablement, and it appears there is not, there is no need to continue this thread. Too bad! Thank you all for your responses.

It is not listed on the site but is listed in the phone itself. If I understand right the reason that it does not support tri or quad band 3G is that the processor is built with only specific bands. When the tecnology is there to squeeze more bands in with it then we will get what we want.
Or something like that.
Hey guys. Just noticed that it's starting to get split up between carriers. Is there going to actually be a difference between carrier and internation? Will they have to use separate ROMs and rooting methods?
Also, Where is T-Mobile's forum? Or is it similar to the sprint model?
Rooting methods might be the same, ROMS will not be compatible across models. There may be multi-carrier roms but you absolutely need to make sure you flash things specifically for your model or you will end up with an expensive paperweight.

If anything the T-Mobile one would be more similar to AT&T sprint is CDMA not gsm
This is why there are different forums for the device on each carrier. It's mean to keep people from getting too flash happy haha. If you flash anything from the "Sprint HTC One" forums, you should be fine.

Only problem I have with splitting them is we may run into the problem the Nexus S forum suffers from, where a lot of ROMs end up only getting posted in the main GSM dev forum, even though they have an NS4G version. Important info, guides, whatever were pretty invisible to the layman. I'm sort of concerned here because it isn't just a split of the dev forum, it's completely different headings for each carrier. It'll be interesting to see how different the models really end up being.

True, but while this is inconvenient for us on Sprint it is far worse when someone inevitably tries to flash a rom without CDMA support and they end up bricking their device. I'd rather avoid that scenario and just force us to link to other threads to get additional information. We have to face facts and that is it normally isn't a smooth process for developers to take a GSM rom and port it to CDMA (I saw this plenty as I currently have a E4GT and that was almost a completely different beast than the other Galaxy S2's).

Out of the box the unlocked versions only support Tmobile 2g Edge speeds and the newly refarmed 4g LTE on the 1900 spectrum.
The carrier branded phones are almost $150 more than the unlocked versions and the hardware is "technically" there for all of the frequencies. What are the chances that we will have a solution, similiar to the below, found on the ATT Galaxy Note 2? I'd be willing to donate for a workaround.

At a minimum you'd need s-off to flash a different radio. Until you (we) have a working method to get s-off there is zero chance of this happening.

This was a concern of mine as I'm off contract with ATT already and may jump ship. If you look deeper than the word "quad" and actually look at the bands supported vs what the carriers use vs network coverage, you would have found out that
A) Tmo "3G/4G" runs on AWS (700/2100) (really should be called HSPA+42)
B)Tmo have refarmed a some bands to support "3G" on 1900 (HSPA+21)
C)Tmo LTE is not everywhere
which means... if you are not in a refarmed area (which again is not everywhere) you will be either on LTE or Edge.
So.... refer to the top link for hope. Which is S-off and a flash of the radios (the chip itself should have all the bands).

Its true, However I was told we need the T-mobile radio to use his method which makes perfect sense. So, I just got my t-mobile htc one today and id like to learn how to get my radios off my phone to share it with you guys.
Can anyone please show me step by step on how to get the radios off my phone? Will post here ASAP then you guys can test it.

I'm waiting patiently for my 64gb developer phone which I should be getting next week. In the meantime I've been combing through the forums trying to get as much information as I can regarding the developer's edition HTC One. When I think I got the answer I'm looking for I see something else that makes me think another way. With this thread I'm hoping to get answers in one place to avoid confusion. Someone please educate me on this phone.
1. Will I be able to get 4G LTE, and or HSPA+?
2. Unlocked bootloader means I can flash roms but not kernels? How will I know which roms/kernels are the correct ones to flash for the dev edition?
3. Has anyone achieved s-off yet and if so which method is the best and easiest?
4. Tmo is going to be my carier. Whats this about Non Tmo devices needing the Tmobile 4GLTE APN added to the phone to connect to 4G LTE? Does this mean I don't have LTE (I guess it related to 1st question). And how do I add the tmo 4gLTE APN?
5. How does insurance work with unlocked phones and who do I get it from?

1. You can get lte if your in a lte area. You will get hspa if your in a Markey with the 1900 band
2. You can flash roms kernels and radios now with s on
3. Prob no need for s off anymore
4. Put in the SIM should be auto or just Google it

I am still struggling, some people say that you will never get 3g, but yes on 4g, some other says that you will never get both of them since you are Tmobile. I can tell you, I have Tmobile wiht my HTC One Dev edition and I am getting HSDPA, and I pretty happy wiht that, but I am also worried why we are not getting 4G, so I also have started reading about that, the specs are almost the same, but it looks like the problem is the radio installed in the dev edition. So it look like if some dev are able to pull the radio out of the Tmobile HTC One version and try to adapt it or maybe directly installed in out dev edition it will work. I heard this a couple of days ago from another topic in this forum.

Wow... when you say neither that's pretty scary. I certainly hope that's not the case. I live in NJ in a 1900 rich area. I really do hope we can get LTE and hspa+. I told my wife we are getting 4g with these new phones but I guess I read wrong. We're coming from Sprint so even if we get hspa+ it's a major improvement.

So I heard that the problem with dev version is that it has the compatibility built in hardware, but the radio which comes with the dev version doesn't support it, the problem here is that I don't know if flashing the radio from Tmobile HTC one will brick our phone.
If some developer could come to the thread and give us some answer, I don't have enough knowledge about how radios works.

I suspect that we are going to need S-Off in order to get this working, assuming that there is not in fact some hardware difference between the dev and TMO versions. I've read the threads, but I don't know where they get their information. I have not seen anything from HTC on which hardware is in the various phones.

I have not either, but based on current information to go by that's all we have. I think the only way we could tell for sure is a complete tear down of each model, but so far that has not been accomplished. If there are any variations in the hardware we'd see them and could say "It isn't going to work". If there is no difference then it has to be software/firmware thing.
