[Q] Next Version of rXtreme Due? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi. Just wondered if anyone knows if and when the next release of rXtreme ROM is due?

when it's ready. asking for ETAs is rude and against the rules

And curt responses are no less rude.

nah, I think not reading the rules before posting is more rude, but that's me. this is one of the most basic rules of xda.

Please enlighten me as to why it is rude to ask for some idea on the next release? Or is "rude" not the right word you are looking for.

because it puts pressure on the dev. it will be out when it's ready, that's all you need to know. and don't ask that question anymore. thanks

Your youth and lack of courtesy betrays you. I read the forum rules and fail to see such a restriction although I take your point. Please share the link with me re the rule you state.

You'll have to take my word for it then

Maybe no such rule but it is bad forum etiquette to ask when is this ready and certainly outside of the roms actual thread .
Often only the Dev knows when a new build might be ready .
There are also a number of Devs that no longer post on XDA as they get sick and tired of stupid questions repeated day after day .Sadly that is a loss to XDA users .

If you are currently using rXTREME ROM, you can post your query in the rXTREME thread [OP - @r_i_x] instead of opening a new one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023916
Also, go in phone settings > rXTREME Utilities > ROM Update > Settings > Uncheck Disable ROM auto-checks > Check ROM every (user-defined) hours
Cheers

That's true. It's out of etiquette to ask any dev that. It's very commendable of people who work so hard & that all of us are privileged to have access to such amazing work.
But opening new thread is a different thing. That's what I explained.

[Q] Android 2.3.3 for the Tab

As I own a Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2 I would like to change to Android 2.3.3
The Basband version in use is: P1000DXJJ2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 root(at)SE-S604 #1
Build number: FROYO.DXJK2
Now my question is: could I just manual upgrade to version 2.3.3 which I had downloaded, in total 4 files:
P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1q000XXJPZ.zip
dbdata.zip
gt-p1000_mr_PIT.zip
ODIN3 v1.83.exe
Could someone please tell me it's ok to use that files or, if not, point me in the right direction.
Thank you so much for any answer.
This rom is for european galaxy tab, but I think you can flash it on an asian version of the tab. Look at the development section for this rom.

Can I ask two questions...
(a) Where did you get the download from and (b) have you installed the ROM and how did it go?

To your question:
a: androidtotal. com/manually-install-update-samsung-galaxy-tab-to-android-2.3.3-gingerbread/
b: I asked my question in the OP before I try to install!
I do NOT like to brick my Tab with an unsupported Rom! That's why I ask upfront the Rom could be used on my Asian Tab or not.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunate, I couldn't post in the Dev section right now because of my post count.
As my Tab is an unlocked Tab with Quadband and 3G (900/1900/2100 MHz) I hope that everything will works with the Europe version, I just want to be sure not to brick the device!

No, you are wrong. We have a Q&A forum, try using some common sense. Do you honestly think that its sane to allow questions or other type of topics to be created in the dev section? It would just lead to a complete un-organized mess and browsing the dev section would be a pain in the arse.

First at all: The Q&A forum haven't gave an answer within a week or more! Do you really think that's OK?
Secondly: My question were for the Gingerbread Version (Overcome Beta) which is running in the Dev forum and therefore I really do believe that those forum were the right place for to ask questions about that specific version.
After NOT getting an answer in the Q&A forum, I done more researches and found the Samsung Stock Rom (NOT on this forum) and was asking my final question in the Samsung Galaxy Tab General forum.
My remark about the min. post count for to be able to post in the dev forum were just that: A REMARK.
Last but not least, this is a public forum and as long as I stay to the rules, I could post as I like and as it is allowed! There only the forum staff, means Admin's and Moderators who have the right to limit a action or posting ability of an 'normal' user and those will be done in case of an breach of the rules only.
I'm Administrator on one Board and Global Moderator on an other Board and believe me or not, I know what I'm talking about.
If you think that my post('s) are inappropriate, please feel free to report my post to the forum staff.
Have a nice day.

And YES, it works!
I updated the last night from 2.2 t0 2.3.3 and everything is fine now. It's quite a bit of improvement compare to Froyo.
Thanks for the info.
Hey pcinfo1, I'm searching around the forum, we are on the same stock ROM.
I like to know if its ok for me to flash to Overcome ROM v3.1.0-KRATOS???
Thanks!
Ok to flash overcome rom ONLY if you update to stock gingerbread 1st. You need the gb bootloaders installed otherwise you will end up with your tab hanging on the samsung logo. Thankfully overcome has the safe stock gb rom v5 that has the gingerbread bootloaders. All you need to do is find the modem.bin file for your region/carrier and you're set.

Hii, thanks for the reply mate. how do i find modem.bin file for my region/carrier?

The reason there are no answers given sometimes is because the questions are so weak, or have been asked and answered soo many times.
If you post a question that doesn't get answered within a day (not within 30 minutes like some people expect), rethink your question.
Posts that have "Hi guys, I'm new" or "Help, I've bricked my tab" for titles tend to get passed over.

[Q] Which ROM shouldI install (and why?)

One thing for sure: I want something stable (even more: rock solid) not the latest alpha/unstable/night build. Which one I should chose and why? I mean the list of choices here is overwhelming.

+1 This is a "best rom" thread and these threads are not allowed on XDA.
Yes, I read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=1312
And haven't found "best ROM" threads are not allowed. Anyways: https://www.google.com/search?q="best+rom"site:xda-developers.com
OK. I have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060605
but I can't find system encryption in it. I'm also unable to import contacts from a SIM card.
So which ROM is for me if I'd like to have these features as well?

Dude we are not any servants for u, u shud have been more polite with your query... No offence.
any way if u dnt want alpha/beta/unstable build y u tryng builds like cm10.1, they are almost Stable and perfect(with some minor bugs) u can go for official Cm7, customize it with ne theme. :good:
User have their opinions on ROM. You're (magicphone) a human right ? Then you should have a decision for best ROM. Since you are a human.

Thank you.
Best ROM threads always turn into Pissing Matches and result in flaming (that is why they are frowned upon). Best thing you can do is go to Dev section and read a few OPs. Pick a few that you like and read the last 10 pages or so for bugs. Narrow it down to one you want and start reading.
Oh and make a Nandroid before flashing or your next thread will be "Help!!! My phone won't boot".

Sorry for posting in this section cause my post is less than 10.
Regarding rXtreme Stock Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2023916
after installing it, everything works fine other than the language. Korean words are blanked out automatically. Any help here?

FYI, you said I posted in Samsung III section, which is the wrong section. So now I post in the III 9305 Section. Please only give constructive comments.
Modified Stock Rom I meant. Can't you just click the link to find out what rom it is?
rXtreme is a modded rom, see comment from OP below.
rXTREME ROM is personalized, fast, smooth, lite and longer battery life. From latest Samsung Firmware added some tweaks and features, removed useless apps and bloatwares. You have an option to choose from lite to extra lite ROM (removed apps is compiled and can still be installed from a separate zip file with aroma options).

[Q] [QUESTION] using custom roms

hi guys. heres my question. -- if i use a custom rom for my SGA , How long can i use the rom i installed? can i use it for a long time as long as it has no bugs like stock roms? even if theres an update on the rom i used , do i have to install the update?
First thing i would like to tell you that you can use any ROM for as much time as you want.If you are on a ROM which is bugless and better than stock so there is no problem in being on it.
Nextly as it goes for updates if your ROM support OTA updates then you can easily update it as on Stock but don't install updates from the Manufacturer untill not on Stock.
Abd installing updates depends totally on you if want you can if you dont its up to you.
Hit THANKS if Helped :good:
1. You can use it as long as you would
2. Some of custom rom have a view bugs, or the ui doesn't fit you. I think you should carefully choose your cusrom.
3. Usually rom update bring the good changes, or you can see the changelog first.
To avoid unwanted answers, i think you should use the Q&A thread.

Please keep in mind that this is beta software. These builds are sometimes not as stable as our official OTAs generally are. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks. We look forward to getting your continued feedback in the bug reporting forum here: https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/
We have integrated the Feedback tool into Community App and you can report bugs and share Logs directly to our bug hunters with the community App.
To submit a new bug report
Community app > Profile > Feedback > click on + icon > select a category > fill in the details attach screenshots if any > submit (the tool will capture logs based on the category)
In some cases, you might have to record the logs for a longer period and reproduce the issue before you can submit a bug report (for example, network drops:
Community app > Profile > Feedback > click on + icon > select a category > fill in the details and attach screenshots if any > start recording (the app records logs in the background > once the issue has been reproduced > Stop Recording > submit
Do try out the new Feedback tool, it is now much easier and simpler for our community to report bugs and share feedback with us. If you have any questions or need help, please contact [email protected]
Please note:
If you have already flashed an Open Beta (you are currently running the latest Open Beta), you will receive this new build as an OTA.
If you are not running open beta software and would like to, please refer to the flashing instructions and the full ROM on the downloads page here.
Once you migrate to the beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will no longer receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (full wipe of all data and cache).
Make sure to let us know how you feel about the beta builds here in the thread too, we are watching.
Never Settle.
