My phone is stuck in a bootloop, it cannot get past the initial HTC screen, every third time it tries to boot into recovery (CWM) but that only flashes up for less than a second before it goes back to a black screen.
I have been trying to get it to boot into bootloader so i can reflash the recovery but holding Power and Volume Up (and just holding Volume Up) doesn't seem to do it. It's worth noting that whenever I have tried to reboot the phone by just holding the Power button it does not work, the lights just blink forever.
I have also tried running the adb reboot-bootloader command continuously (as quick as my fingers will let me press up and enter) and I can't seem to catch it there.
The phone won't even stay off, it just keeps trying to boot.
Do you have any ideas of things I can try? At the moment I can only think to let the battery run out but it was well charged and has been on USB for a while. I do need this phone to work.
Thanks in advance.
Edit:
The problem occured when I tried reinstalling Android Revolution HD 10.2, I had done this earlier today but wanted to change one of the options in Aroma. Aroma crashed very near the end and the phone went into Recovery, I had some warning but I picked up my phone with the power button so I didn't read it properly.
You enter the bootloader by holding Power and Volume Down (not up).
Try to get into the recovery through the bootloader and restore your nandroid before trying to flash ARHD 10.2 again.
Thanks, I guess I panicked as I should have been asleep. All I had to do was go into fastboot and clear my cache with fastboot (command: fastboot clear cache) and go straight into Recovery and Recovery worked again for any people who encounter this problem.
I experience a similar problem with my HTC One. It recently powered off and I can't start it up again, it's just a black screen and it doesn't react when pressing the power button.
When I plug it into the charger (into a socket or to the computer) it starts booting after a short while. It vibrates, the HTC "quietly brilliant" logo shows up, but then it just goes black again. A few seconds pass and it does the same thing again. Over and over.
I manage to use the Volume Down to get into the HBOOT-screen and there I have 6 choices; Fastboot, Recovery, Factory Reset, Simlock, Image Crc and Show Barcode. I read that I can go into fastboot and clear cache and it might work but I cant even get into fastboot. When I try to press any buttons it doesn't react. If I constantly press volume up or down it sometimes moves the marker, but it seems that it is "pressing" the power button all the time, because when I move it reacts directly to that menu choice. And of course, it shuts itself down after only a second.
It's a stock HTC One, nothing done with it. Recently made a factory reset because the phone locked itself.
What can I do?
EDIT: I had to return it to the store I bought it from, and they sent it on repair to Poland (where HTC apparently has their european base) and they changed the battery. Got it back after 2 weeks and it works fine again!

I have the same problem as you right now but I still can't access recovery I go into hboot and clear the cache with fastboot (fastboot erase cache) but I still can't access recovery, everytime I go on it, it say's "entering recovery..." and the screen goes blank then it goes into boot loop again. Is there any help you can give me to fix this problem? This is my first android phone and I'm really scared that I screwed it up for good.

What if the PC won't recognize the phone while in fastboot? I'm on win 8.1 64. Uninstalled and reinstalled HTC drivers. All I get is a prompt that the device is not recognized. If I try 'fastboot erase cache', it jsut sits there, saying 'waiting for device'. I get nothing listed when I run 'fastboot devices'. Any ideas?

you just need to install HTC sync and it will install drivers for you , later uninstall the htc sync only nor drivers. second try windows 7 or 8 but 32bit version , all drivers will work perfectly. hope it will work.

If your phone is new you could simply bring it in store and ask them to fix or to replace it

Hi so I have cm7 7.0.2 on my nexus one. Today it froze on the unlock screen, as it has a few times before since I put cm7 on my phone, so I did a battery pull, and then it wouldn't turn on. I plugged it into my charger, and now it turns on, but just goes to the colored X screen, and then reboots in a loop, over and over again.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!
Use something like RUU to go back to stock then root your phone and if you have a backup on your recovery select that once you are done setting it back to stock.

I wouldn't bet on it, if it's simply in a boot loop then it's perfectly fixable. Go into the bootloader by holding the volume button while turning on the phone. Navigate to the recovery option using the volume buttons and confirm using the power button. From here you can wipe/restore nandroid/flash CM7 again. Also, you don't need to unlock the bootloader to do any of this.

thanks, but that's what i do, when i can't boot. it's stuck on x when i try boot to recovery, and flash boot, recovery, system, not changed the situation.
ok, i am not an expert, but just brainstorming here based on what i understood while flashing mine..
download a recovery image to your PC
get into bootloader mode on the nexus, connect it to ur pc, select the fastboot usb option on ur fone
open windows console
type:
fastboot flash recovery <image file path> and press enter.
fastboot can be located inside android-sdk. so make sure you have your present working directory set to the path of "fastboot.exe"(e.g. c:\android\android-sdk\tools)

You will either have to run PASSIMG.zip (The forums have good guides on this) or unlock your bootloader and flash the individual .img files through bootloader/fastboot.

Did you try he fastboot erase commands first? I'm not at my computer to write a quick guide but if you still need it in a few hours ill write it up. If it still gets stuck in a bootloop after that then your device is probably bricked

nexus one not rebooting after the battery drained
I am currently in the same situation. In my case the battery drained completely. I removed the battery and disconnected the charger. In the past this worked. Now what I get is the colorful X.
What I can do:
Fastboot via power and the "pearl"
Go into the boot menu via volume down and power
No matter what I chose after that I get to the same X. While this seemed promising none of the following worked:
reflashing recovery
Reflashing back to stock of radio/recovery/system/boot/
replacing battery
Any other thoughts?
Before wipe all your data on your phone in the recovery and reinstall passimg.zip

Hey guys,
due to being fed up with Sense I installed the latest CM10.1 nightly build for the HTC ONE with clockworkmodtouch recovery and now my phone seems to be bricked.
I pushed the rom on the device via adb sideload which went without a problem. Then I rebooted without wiping everything, which I simply forgot (I know...). Then the CM logo animation started and didn't stop until the battery was fully drained. After charging the battery and starting the phone, it goes to the HTC logo with the red warning text, and then directly to the CM logo again. I can't get into the bootloader via power+vol up or power+vol down, and once the phone is running I can't even hardware reset it via those keys. The soft keys' illumination just starts blinking.
Maybe someone has had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction. I can't access the phone via adb btw.
TL;DR:
Installed CM10.1 with cwmt recovery via adb sideload
Forgot to wipe everything before rebooting
Phone stuck in CM start animation
Hardware keys don't seem to do anything (soft keys blink), even if I hold them for over a minute
adb devices or anything like that doesn't work
Any help would be appreciated

How can I get into recovery if the hardware buttons don't seem work (except to turn the phone on)?
That happened to me flashing a ROM. I went into recovery and wiped cache and davlik. Then it just takes time finding the right restore.

Power on with vol down pressed. Wait for boot loader. Connect usb. Wait for phone to say fastboot usb.
Fastboot erase cache
from computer command prompt then
Fastboot reboot recovery

Like I said in my OP, I'm not able to enter recovery. If I press power+vol up for a minute or so, the phone boots AFTER I let go of the buttons. Then it goes to the HTC logo, 5 secs later to the animated CM logo, which will rotate until the battery is dead.

Alright, I got into the bootloader now! A big thanks. I feel like an idiot. The problem was that I let go of both the buttons simultaneously, like it says in almost every tutorial. Now that I kept the vol down button pressed it worked. Thanks man.
I don't understand how you can get to the loading screen but not the recovery. That sounds strange. I've been stuck in a boot loop before. I took my battery out, put it in, held the buttons, then it should work fine. I can't understand how it won't go into recovery unless you really messed up.

Solved,
I kept trying to get in to recovery and restore a backup which I managed to do after trying about 100 times.
Further update this is still not fixed and I need help please.
I now have copy of a ARHD rom loaded which was a back up that I managed to restore.
I now have permanent blinking soft keys and a message on the screen saying to restart your phone continue to press and hold the power button for 1 second. When I do restart the phone it bootloops again, but if I cover the screen with a cloth the phone will boot up with a repeat of the same issue blinking softkeys and a restart message.
Try reflashing the kernel then do a fastboot erase cache.
Hello,
My phone is not rooted. All i've been doing is downloading apps. It was still on factory setting, with no custom roms. I've been keeping up w/ the updates and i don't recall anything "special" happening before it was bricked yesterday night.
I tried accessing the fastboot screen (vol down + power button), and tried recovering, rebooting, and factory resetting, and they all sent it back to a freezing boot screen.
Using Hasoon2000's HTC One All-In-One Toolkit, I tried to boot it into bootloader, after a couple of hours, I saw a black screen w/ a red triangle in the middle, and after that, it just went back to being frozen at the Htc boot screen.
I have no idea what to do, any suggestions would help.
Thank You

Unzip this to your desktop and open a command window from it's folder (right click - command prompt here)
plug in your phone to the pc boot to the bootloader with power + volume down
type fastboot devices
your phone serial number should be listed
now type fastboot erase cache
it should say something about formatting cache
now fastboot reboot
hopefully your phone will boot back up

Before you've flashed the rom, you must have checked your "fastboot getvar all" right? Post everything you remember from it (Version-main, cid, mid, hboot version, s-on/s-off).

A factory reset will only wipe the /data partition where user data is stored, it will not restore your phone from a bad flash. Without the possibility to access bootloader and without any information about your phone nor the rom you've flashed, I can't really help. Try all the usual tricks to get in bootloader mode and if you can access it there might be something to do.

Here, had a same problem with m8... What I used to do, (while it was stuck in the boot), was press volume up and the Power button. it would switched off (as a restart), and in that short period, I would release vol up and switched to Vol down button (witht the power button still pressed) to enter recovery.
not sure for m7 though, but I hope this helps...
