Are you trying to flash a different rom? The StraightTalk Huawei can flash other roms but will not get proper speeds or connectivity which is why I recommend not flashing anything but the respected rom. Not sure if the Jailbreak works though but giving how much trouble I had with this phone back then it didn't seem worth the risk.

[Q] Huawei w1 firmware

Hello xdadevelopers,
I have a problem. Recently I had a birthday and my friend, who lives and works in Shanghai had presented me a phone. It's Huawei w1. But there is one catastrophic problem. Since he bought the phone in China, it has chinese firmware. And the worst thing - chinese market. It doesn't have such vital applications like skype or youtube. I have tried to contact microsoft. Unfortunately, they cannot help me. Here is what they said (conversation was in russian, this is my translation):
===
MS: Ok, this means that you have chinese firmware. It's not possible to workaround it with standard methods. You need to reflash the phone with russian firmware (I believe this should not be exactly russian but any non-chinese)
MS: We cannot give you steps of how you can do this, since this will break you warranty. But you can find steps in Internet.
me: Well, but in fact I don't have warranty. The phone was bought in different country, not by me, and my friend, who bought the phone, doesn't visit fatherland more often than once a year
MS: Ok, I understand, but we are not allowed to provide such info and such sites are blocked for us. We are not trained for such kind of support. You can ask on forums:
MS: http://answers.microsoft.com/ru-ru/winphone/forum/wp8
MS: or
MS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1625
MS: or you can ask Huawei support.
===
I asked on MS forum, but I doubt they have answer. I also tried to find Huawei support contacts but was unable to do so. Any link that looks like contact info leads to chinese page.
So this forum is my last hope. Please please please. I believe this forum is full of guru. Please suggest me where to find normal firmware for Huawei w1? Where to find instructions?
Phone info:
OS version: 8.0.10211.204
Firmware revision number: 1030.5612.01700.05600
Hardware revision number: HD1U8835M Ver.B
Chip SOC Version: 8230
Thank you.
If there's a device-specific forum for the phone, check there. However, I can't find one, so you may need to be patient until anybody else with the W1 gets around to answering you.
You can also check with Huawei themselves, of course. Try calling them or emailing them; the most likely source of stock firmware will be Huawei themselves.
I've managed to find this article but it's on some foreign language. If you want use Google to translate the page and see if it has something useful.

It is in Myanmar and google cannot translate it. But thanks. I've downloaded file provided on that page. It's archive with some rom and tool that allows to flash this rom. It also has instruction for that tool in english (with the same screenshots as on djtonka's forum). Unfortunately it doesn't have instruction of how to connect phone and how to install drivers, etc.

This guide would be very helpful.
And what about ROMs? Do you know where to get non-chinese one? (Who needs chinese with emasculated market actually?)

i think Non-chinese one would need to be took from Huawei themself, since nobody do homebrew rom for this phone AFAIK
they actually make one for 1 telco provider in my country..., but AFAIK, it's for CDMA W1 version... well, it's for the world phone version actually, but the GSM network is locked for EDGE data connectivity only...

I'm not sure what is source of this one and if we can call it international. Some say it is "China UNICON"... Anyway, it allows to select from many languages, (not only CN & EN), it allows to install any app from market (including Skype, FB, etc.).
Though it have some limitations comparing to Chinese ROM that I had originaly. For example it doesn't allow to share Wi-Fi

Hi, I do not know if I should post there, as I cannot speak Polish.
I am in the US and the ROM you have 1030.5610.22500.05420 that is for the USA, only works with our 2G (EDGE) networks here and not 3G (HSPA/HSPA+/UMTS) for some reason, and has some bugs.
Is it possible to get one of the Western European ROMs? Here in the US, only one prepaid carrier, Straight Talk, offers this device, so I am not sure where this USA ROM came from.
But I would like to try either one of these...as I assume they are also unlocked?

You have any sources for european GDR2 Rom for the W1?
There is no GDR2 yet.
Hallo!
I have some problem with phone now.
When i try to flash bootloader, and on a step when pop-up promt for formating, i'am clicking Ok.
After this phone is not Powering On, Just vibrating.
Bootloader still flashing, but after phone is not loading iWare uniBIOS FFU Application. Phone just light on black screen.
So, i can not continue flashing firmware, because the phone is not recognazing like UEFI USB SimpleI/O Port.
And now, when make procedure from start is not pop-up screen with promt for formating, and system don't show any disk on system.
Maybe somebody have the files from disk of HUAWEI? So please give me it, i'll try to write it to my phne, maybe it help me.
Or anybody maybe have some idea, how i can repair it.
Thank you!
If there would be once a GDR2 (Amber) Update für the Huawei Ascend W1, will it also active an FM radio like on the devices of Nokia and HTC?
you can switch to US to install SKYPE & YouTube
see title, i have installed SKYPE by this way

Unlocked S8 -> Tmobile

Hello, I'm a tmobile customer that just purchased an unlocked galaxy s8 from the Samsung website. I'm wondering if going to the store and getting the tmobile firmware on it installed is really necessary. I mainly want to do this because of the software updates, but then I thought the the unlocked version might get updates from a different source? Am I right? I'm sorry about this being such a general question, but I just want to do what's best for my new phone. Would you recommend me installing this firmware? Or should I just keep the stock unlocked firmware it came with? Are there any drawbacks associated with not installing the tmobile firmware on it?
EDIT:
To start, will Tmobile even do this in the first place? I'm totally clueless whether they offer installing their software on customer phones or not.
Thank you.
Hi there. Unfortunately, you are going to be really hard pressed to find a T-Mobile rep anywhere that could/would flash firmware w/ Odin. Not saying that there aren't some reps out their that don't know about this stuff (there are a lot that really have no clue though), but this is well outside of what most of them are trained for, plus Odin is only supposed to be used by Samsung. Also, historically (at least the last couple of years), for whatever reason Samsung's unlocked US models have been getting updates slower than the carrier versions, which really doesn't make any sense because there is less to go through to get them updated. That being said, there are several threads in the T-Mobile S8 forum here as well as the general S8 forum dedicated to carrier switching, which can guide you in turning your unlocked model into a T-Mobile model, for all intents and purposes.

The guy that replied first is really correct! T-Mobile store won't flash any phone, don't go beyond simple troubleshooting. It is easier to fly to Mars, than talk about flashing a device with rep. I do hope there are some T-Mobile reps that do really know about flashing, but I just haven't seen one yet.
I am with Unlocked S8 and use it on T-Mobile. I don't have any signal specific issues for example and features such as WiFi Calling, Band 12 and VoLTE all work well. There are few thing that flashing to T-Mobile firmware could give you:
Video calling(to specific phones only)
Advanced Messaging(believe other phone needs to support it)
DIGITS service will be built into the phone dialer.
I was also debating about doing it, but all 3 mentioned features are not wildly available and don't work across all devices and networks. On top of that you will get few T-Mobile apps pre-installed + Lookout app + T-Mobile logo when booting up the phone.
We can flash practically anytime we want, so I would suggest you to wait and see how Samsung will treat unlocked devices and how fast updates will arrive. If T-Mobile will do them much better than Samsung, then I will flash myself or when those 3 features above will work across all devices.
Sorry for reviving this thread, but my unlocked s8 gets slower upload and download speeds than my friends tmobile s8, we are both in NYC and he's getting 100mbps and I'm getting 30-40mbps. I assume they also have specific settings hardbaked in their rom that allows for optimized carrier usage?

the t mobile firmware comes with 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM. which leads to better signal and faster download speeds.
Can I flash just the modem or CSC to get the benefits without flashing the whole tmobile rom?

This is a question I'd like the answer to. I'd like to keep all the Samsung default software features but get RCS, which is the most important thing, and one of the main reasons I'm still using my LG G6.

i think you'll need the whole firmware to be able to use RCS and the tmob features. i personally think the tmob firmware is better since it has 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM enabled. so better signal and service

I don't care about any of that. I value the Samsung unbranded experience more. All I want from the Tmo FW is RCS.
Alternately, if they ever support it using the unlocked S8 FW, i'll switch back to my S8 in a heartbeat. My G6 seems to get tons better battery life anyway for some reason.
Can someone provide a link to a thread for flashing the Unlocked s8 to T-Mobile?
Thanks.

I believe you have to use the "flashing unlocked firmware" because the prince's version of the ODIN will bypass the ROM checksum and let you flash any variant you want. if you use the normal ODIN and you are going from unlocked to t-mobile (950U1 to 950U) ROM it will fail.
I used to be on the unlocked but now I'm running t-mobile rom to have multi-line baked in to the native dialer. and my service provider SW ver. shows TMB/TMB/XAA
All is good and I'm happy with the ROM after few days the battery life seems the same as the unlocked version.
i just want to know if i can keep the bloatware free and just flash the modem from tmobile firmware.
i just want wifi calling, volte, 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM. i dont care much for the multi line feature cause not useful on my end and idk about rcs because the person on the other end needs to have it and i dont really see it as useful.
lol s7 bloatware free firmware was so easy to flash compared to this xD
im running the att variant but im sure all the hardware is the same. so i dont see why the unlocked firmware wouldnt support this out of the box.

When I had my S7 Edge I was able to mix and match different ROM with different modem files ie I would be on the unlocked ROM with the tmobile modem and was able to use the unlocked firmware with t-mobile radios. This is what you want but I have not tried it with the my S8 you can try if it dont work use the prince's ODIN to take you back to stock.

Correct, but it also works the other way around. Anytime you want to change variant you must use the modified version of ODIN as it bypass the checksum or the flash will fail.
Thanks Peeps!

Has anyone tried installing N950W firmware on N950U1?

I bought an unlocked US phone and was going to give it to my dad who lives in Canada (and uses rogers).
I was thinking about installing the 950W Rogers firmware to get all of the carrier-specific features like volte, wifi calling/sms, etc. Alternatively, maybe I could just install the CSC?
Has anyone tried this?

Huawei US Firmware?

Hello, total noob here. So recently got a p20 pro, and is loving it so far. However, I got the Chinese firmware version C00. From my understanding, there is a US T-Mobile version. I was wondering, how can I go about changing it? Does it involve flash or something like that? Any help would be great!

I put this list together to illustrate the different variants of this phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/how-to/huawei-p20-pro-variants-t3797524
The phone you have is probably the AL00. This phone is not sold in the US because of political unrest between US Congress and Huawei. There is no 'T-Mobile version', nor are there any US versions. However, I can confirm that the L29 works perfectly here in the United States even though it uses Asia Pacific branded firmware.
Are you having any problems with software on the phone? If not, just root and enjoy!
Hey. Currently I'm running AL01 I was wondering if you have a guide to switch to the international version. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Check out some of his responses before that page - but it looks like its possible.
I will be attempting sometime int he next week. I'll try to get an instruction set together
