I can confirm that this is working, be sure to restart your phone after applying the settings web hijacker posted.
NOTE: your phone will not go into deep sleep after applying this workaround as it will purposely cause a partial wakelock, so this will have some negative affect on battery, just how much remains to be seen.

Thank you for you feed back
And I don't care about battery because I charge my phone twice a day ....

Good find, I was searching for WiFi fix apps a couple of days ago on the play store, I installed a few, but none worked, I didn't see the one you linked to, so thanks for the heads up

There is a fix for 3g problem?
It's about the same problem, when the telephone is in stand by mode for a long time (2 hours or more), the 3g stop working, it seems to be on, but it don't work ! You need to turn off and then turn on again to make it work !

I have no idea mate. Even i am troubled..

Installed again and did the work around 2 method and rebooted. Was going fine the whole day until I turned off wifi to save battery. Turned it back on, everything was fine, then I locked the phone. Unlocked it back and no wifi! But it reconnected really quickly so I guess this app is doing something!

I don't have such a problem but if you face it again just do one of these method and it will work
1.reboot the device
2.when you turn off WiFi to save your battery and turn it on again .... go to dev option and press enable work ground 2 again and this should solve the problem

Touch screen not responding sometimes

Hi ppl. I recently encountered this problem and Hv searched a lot but couldn't find a proper solution.
I pulled my Ph out of my pocket and had the pocket sensor app installed back then and the phone was getting locked and unlocked but I couldn't bypass the lock screen since the touch screen wouldn't respond. I could see everything else on the notification bar working like the gprs arrows and I even got a call when this happened but couldn't pick the call up too. The only way I could get out of it was to take the battery out. Now its been happening often and I heard the emmc chip gets fried if u keep taking the battery out when the Ph is on. Anyone else facing a similar problem??
I am rooted on 2.3.5

I had major problems when I was on 2.3.3 stock unrooted.
I had a lot of crap on it so maybe that was the problem.
Are you on a custom rom? If youre not, I would probably try a gingerbread custom rom and see if it still happens.
Also if you are scared of taking the battery out, you can hold power+vol down+vol up at the same time for a few seconds, and it will reboot
Try not to use that apps. See whether the same thing happen again or not.

Have you tried a factory reset?
I had it on unrooted stock optus rom.
I would change to a more optimised rom like ARHD or something
@nonverbose
I don't think it is that big of an issue for a factory reset but it happened again today and was fine after a few mins. Would you come to know what is causing this if I sent some kind of an error log or something. If yes pl tell me what I need to send. @marcj338
Does ARHD have internet pass through? I use my office network to download big games, etc so I need the feature. Hows ARHD better than the stock anyway?

Not sure about the internet pass through because I have never tried to use it so I dont know if its there
It is much smoother, Ive played with stock 3.0 and it lags and is a bit choppy
When I used ARHD, I found it a LOT smoother than stock, it has better battery life, and it more optimised. Even with OC is lasts longer. I would have kept it, but I didn't like the look of stock 3.0 compared to runnymede ports

The reason I suggested a factory reset is because I think you're experiencing major lag spikes, possibly due to background running tasks. Does it always happen when you have this pocket sensor app activated?
@markj338
I wanted to try out ARHD for a while but was unimpressed by CM so I thought of sticking to stock but later when I checked my friends Ph and saw the difference I wanted to go for it but now I think am gonna wait for ics cos I heard it's very stable. TX for ur time though! Appreciate it ..
@nonverbose
I think it's the pocket sensor but am not sure. I try out various combinations to get outta it. Sometimes I think its the go locker but I noticed 1 thing for sure ....it happens when it's really hot outside and the battery heats up too. Am trying to give as much info as possible!!
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
Wow.....everytime I try to determine the problem as to why this is happening I come up with random ideas since noting used to work. Now on my way to work the same thing happened again. It is still not responding and am posting this from my office computer. I could unlock the go lock screen by the vol button which I had configured. I could see the internet pages loading up since I was browsing when it happened suddenly. The auto rotation also works and all buttons like home, menu, search are responding but it just doesnt seem to respond when I touch the screen. I googled it and found there is something called a touch input which might be and issue. I cant do anything to stop and restart the service since the touch doesnt work. Any suggestions?
Uninstall pocket sensor and go locker.

Check where exactly is the proximity sensor and make sure nothing is blocking it (dirt) and/or is still exactly where it should be (if you drop a phone it might get dislocated). This would explain sudden unresponsiveness since phone might think it is in call mode (proximity sensor detects presence of your head and disables the screen while you are dialling).
I had go launcher n pocket sensor way before this started happening. I don't think that's the problem. Its something to do with the touch input but can't figure out the cause.
N yeah I remember dropping it once. My SD card is almost full since I got a lotta media n apps. Would buying a new high capacity SD card do the trick? I remember my laptop lagging due to an almost full hard disk ...

It happened again today. I received some bluetooth files and its not responding now. Menu buttons work but the touch is being a *****. It happens so randomly n it not even funny. grrrr

[Q] How to disable"Screen always on while charging"?

Hello,
Very stupid thing... I have no idea how but I have enabled the Screen always on while charging feature because, that's what happens.
The problem is I'm on stock LRG Rom and there is no option on developer section, in settings.
How do I disable this? Pretty annoying.
Thanks

It solves... temporarily. Whenever the screen turn on (battery charged notification, sms notification, etc) it won't go off again. This is a problem if I leave it charge during the night (like it happened last night).

I said "stock LRG Rom" just with root, and also said " there is no option on developer section". I know that some Roms have this option, but not this one. Have no idea how I have enable the option that is not available in the UI.
Is this any option in some config file where I can check (as said, I have root).
I saw somewhere that clearing cache processes(Ram) does the job.. But I dunn remember properly. Maybe u should give it try....

nexus 7 not killing wifi during sleep after updating to 4.2.1

I have selected to never keep WiFi on during sleep yet now the tablet continues to run the WiFi as you can see in the pictures. This has forced me to use airplane mode when I am on the go because otherwise the tablet just keeps WiFi on and burns the battery extremely quick. This has been a problem since I updated to 4.2.1. I am not rooted completely stock. A solution would be great because this sucks right now. I have tried clearing the cache in recovery but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm running the latest Paranoidandroid ROM and thought that was the problem. I can't yet post to that developer forum so I was just waiting for the next beta.
I guess it's a problem with 4.2.1 then.

If you don't find a solution you may want to try DataEasyPro from the market. It kills both 3g and wifi as soon as the screen is off and then runs a user defined schedule to turn on 3g or wifi every now and the for a few seconds to keep you upto date with your social world. Works great. There is even a widget so you can turn off the schedule when you are downloading or updating from the play store.

I think it is a 4.2.1 problem. Its hard to say how wide spread it is though because I have only seen a handful of posts about this issue though. To me, this issue is unacceptable. I should not have to enable/disable airplane mode to conserve battery. Especially when the previous version of android prior to the 4.2.1 update handled WiFi sleep settings without a problem. Hopefully a fix will be here soon. My tablet used to have superb battery life without me constantly monitoring it. Now I feel like I have to keep double checking that I remember to use airplane mode so that I don't go to use the tablet and find a nearly depleted battery.

I recommend automate it, I have a couple of rules set to turn WiFi of with the screen (with a 5min delay), then turn Wi-Fi back on when the screen turns on. There's plenty of other settings and rules to play with as well.

In had the same issue. I found Google maps to be the culprit.
It defaulted back to location reporting.
Check Google now sync, maps and currents.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's not google maps itself, it's the android location service. It's always collecting data even if your phone or tabscreen isn't on. This is pretty anoying since google only let you choose between agreeing to run the service in the background or not using it at all. Stupid! How about collecting data only when the device is in use?
Same here. There is a bug report on Google about it.

I highly recommend using an app called Better Battery Stats. You can find the free version here on XDA. It'll tell you if there is an app causing a wakelock. I used it to troubleshoot my Rezound and I'm getting a solid 4-5 hours of screen on time with the extended battery on that because it helped me lock down the apps that were killing my battery.

I was having the wifi on issue as well. Just bought my N7, stock 4.2.1 and not rooted. I followed the tip in point four of this post, which details a simple set up using Tasker, where the unit turns the wifi on and off after the screen turns on or off respectively. The reason for the 10 second delay as is detailed in the link, is to allow for the turning on of your N7 to check the time or other reasons, and then quickly turn it off without the wifi on task being activated.
the screenshot below shows my wifi being stuck on while in sleep mode, even with it set to be never on during sleep in the settings, and the change in behavior once the 2 Tasker profiles we set up.
Cheers
Those of you having issues, have you tried the "only when plugged in" setting? Not sure if it would really matter but that's what I use and mine turns on and off just fine.

Testing that now. Turned off Tasker, and set wifi to the "only when plugged in" setting. It's only been about 30 minutes, but so far it looks like it's behaving the same as before, as in keeping wifi on while in sleep. I'll Let it sleep for a few hours and see what the chart shows.
Cheers
EDIT: So I let my N7 sit for about an hour after switching the above mentioned settings, and you can see in the screenshot below that the wifi is staying on while the unit is not awake. I've set my Tasker profiles to control the wifi once again.
I know it may be fixed by a factory reset, but frankly I'm more than happy with the way Tasker handles the issue.
Cheers
so 6 months later, I am still getting this problem. However it seems only to be with the last update. The tasker method seems to be working well though.

Yes.. if you dont wipe you could inheret the fault.
Factory wipe and then install rom.

Maybe I just found another possible cause for this long lasting problem. Sorry for bothering this old thread again.
I reactivate old but gold Samsungs with 4G by flashing the most recent stable cfw available. So I did with some SGS3 LTE and I was wondering, why every phone had problems with it. One just curiously lost EFS wich led to continously booting (could be fixed by restore), one had a sudden problem with the powerbutton (could be fixed by soldering a new switch), one just didn't like the SoC-standby (setting kernel to min. 800MHz fixed that) and finally today I found the last one to have a problem with the screen. When the screen blacks out due to energysavings primarly the system loses the connection to the digitizer wich is not the main issue. But 30 seconds after the display shuts off, the standby comes in not so handy and the screen gets a short circuit wich leds to a reboot. So I tried to exchange with a shattered display with broken touch and, oh wonder, everything is working fine. I then connected the suspected display to another mainboard and guess what? Yes, it rebooted exactly 30 secs after the screen blacked out.
Is anyone here still on this device and can replicate my sightings? I'd love to use /e/ on all of these cute little thingies and maybe someone else could do this also by just replacing the display?
...a few facts to add: I tried "keep display active during charging" (development options) over night connected to a powerbank and it stayed on. Just locking the phone made it go nuts and reboot 30 secs after...

This is a calibration issue. Others have confirmed to fix this by navigating to Settings>Language & Keyboard>HTC Sense Input>Advanced>Calibration Tool/Reset.
