Hey guys,
I made a plugin a couple of days ago for RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer for Sprint's HTC One. With this you all can customize your 1.44.0000 hboots to your hearts content. You can change *** UNLOCKED *** to any thing you like. Change the .0000 in the hboot version to any version you want (purely cosmetic), hide or customize the development disclaimer (red text at boot), update build date/time, and show S-On instead of S-OFF.
You can download Regaw's program here and my plugin on his second post or here. Please thank @regaw_leinad for the tool that makes it possible.
If this does not belong here I am sorry, mods feel free to move.

As long as you are s-off these will work. I will not make a plugin for the moonshine hboot since they hid it pretty well in their executable file. To me that means they dont want it published elsewhere. Unless i get permission from them, I will not make nor post the moonshine hboot plugin

Good job brother,I've been a RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer fan sice i first found it, quick question tho, what would be the main diference between the two S-OFF methods?
Edit: another question what if I already use the Hex Edited Stock 1.44.000 hboot (1.29.651.10) by AssassinsLament?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314921

fyi...if u s-off'd with moonshine & use this plugin, you are going back to a stock hboot...not a big deal though, most ppl don't need a eng hboot.

since we don't have sdcard we need to flash via Fastboot. once there you need to put the zip on the same folder as Fastboot and type the following commands.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip nameoffile.zip

ANOTHER UPDATE: Here is my HTC One's bootloader: http://i.imgur.com/giPJctz.jpg
It used to say this: http://instagram.com/p/cm1J0FD1WD/. PLUS I had it say a custom disclaimer message when you see the HTC logo after a reboot.

I'm putting it back to stock for a reason! I guess you'll have to wait and see why.
It's ABOUT DAMN TIME!
I've NOT been able to get my flash drive to work on my HTC One in the bootloader... Like... NEVER! But it works in TWRP recovery to make nandroid backups, flash roms, and etc. It simply wouldn't "check" for zips that were on my flash drive at all.
I've figured this out!
I bought this usb otg cable: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CXAC1ZW (mainly to mess with my Chromecast, since people said you need a powered usb otg cable), and it seems to work just like a usb otg cable that doesn't need power (like this and this) when the powered one isn't plugged in. I've had it charge ONE thing so far, but nothing else. My goal wasn't to charge the device, simply to power the usb otg cable. (I've read that SOME phones/tabs can be charged. It depends on the device and/or kernel).
ANYWAYS... I have an Andru USB Charger (link here) and the eyes light up RED while the phone/tablet is charging. This thing has even helped me discover when my little helicopters are done charging. WHILE IN THE HTC ONE'S BOOTLOADER, the eyes lit up red and the light on my flash drive (link here) started flashing! The bootloader said it was CHECKING FOR ZIPS!
I immediately turned the phone off, transferred a "PN07IMG" zip to the flash drive, unplugged the powered portion, and it DIDN'T check for the "PN07IMG" zip that was on the flash drive. I plugged in the cable from the Andru usb charger, INTO the usb otg cable, and when I rebooted to bootloader... IT STARTED CHECKING THE FLASH DRIVE and FOUND the PN07IMG ZIP!
No more fastboot, reboot ruu, or any of that. I can flash bootloader zips like radios, bootloader customizer zips, and etc... WITH my usb flash drive!
LONG STORY SHORT!
If you buy a POWERED Micro USB OTG Cable (CLICK HERE), you will be able to flash radios, this bootloader customizer tool, and more... WHILE in bootloader and WITH a USB Flash Drive! (or with this thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZFQqS6zcI8)

I burned it using the build in windows image burner onto a CD. I might try a USB later on but I'll stop trying for now

Burn the iso and boot from it. The rest of the instructions are given to you as you go
Swyped from my HTC Legend
Is it normal that you need to press the power at the right time 2ce?
I managed to get past the first by some pretty stupid method which I'm not going to make public if I'm not sure that it works (cause it's pretty risky)
But that same method doesn't work the second time in step 2/3.
Or isn't it supposed to ask for that a 2nd time?
So I had to pull my battery out in the 2nd step and it showed a message that it was unable to flash the HBoot but luckily the old was still intact.
S-OFF on first try
I used unetbootin to make a usb boot pen, then boot into tiny core, followed instructions and S-OFF

mate, let me know what is your RUU before doing the unlock. which part of download section did you take. Because mine, i got none. But i just continued to the fastboot oec, and simply send the code, and voila, its ***unlocked***
so i just wonder, why hboot updated is required since first, i dont get the update even i check it again and again, and second, it still can be unlocked without updating the firmware.

how did you do it?? which RUU are you on??
tried this, failed to update hboot, rom image error. basically im unable to update this hboot version.
this is the problem im having all round, i cannot update or revert from this chinese rom im using.
as for the fastboot, no point as i cannot get past stage one lol

don't know,
i do know u have to have all sdk parts installed as im unsure what it needs to run with, that took 2 hrs getting it all.
ive tried again, even skipping to fastboot, still nothing.
but ive already tampered with mine, already has cwm installed, s-off and rooted, with chinese uk o2 rom installed......so i wonder if he's using standard issue rom from scratch, but either way, it may not work on all salsa handsets.
but keep trying if you want. the option to send it us is still there!
man, i want to clarify.
the first time i bought this salsa, it is hTC Asia WWE, with S-ON of course.
there is no English language. fu** with it, so i tried to change into RUU O2 UK, by making my sdcard as a goldcard, and put the RUU files onto it.
Here i tell you the way, the RUU files is exe, right ? You can directly flash it as long as you got goldcard (its not hard to make it, everybody knows that)
Or, if that fail, there is still a way updating the stock rom with RUU. Install the exe, while its popping up in ur windows, open task manager, and you see RUU instalshield wizard is running, right ? now go to process, and see Aruwizard.exe
properties that aruwizard.exe, and open file location. you will see there is a zip "rom.zim"
rename that rom zip into PH11IMG.zip and put it into your sdcard that has been as a goldcard. now do the hboot, it will do the recovery itself. let me know if it works.
after that, go to htcdev, and then next step, no need to download for upgrading, bla bla bla, i got my bin_unlock by emails twice. hahaha.
get helped ? say thanks
---------- Post added at 07:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 AM ----------
its for you bigbear, i read in any thread that you got problem with your rom right now, that you wanna go back to your stock from that chinese one rom, confirm me if im right.
you may try the way i've said above.
you know of course i also flash that custom rom you post, but i can get back to my before rom.
this is that we must be carefull. if you wanna get back to the last rom you have, you gotta do backup via recovery. there is a backup and restore section. do the backup, and save your backup (it is in clockwordmod folder) in the safest place.
lets say you wanna get back, just do the restore, and voila, you are in your home sweet home. no problemo at all altough you got big headache because of flashing the wrong rom
this is the way :
1) Format SD card as Fat32
2) Install HTC Sync Drivers. (available at htc.com)
3)Connect Your phone to PC. USB Debugging must on and usb connection type: Only Charging.)
4) Open SimpleGoldCard Tool as a admin
and follow procedure step by step at SimpleGoldcard tool.
works now, thanks to kanded and 0x.shivam.x0

Alright thanks man. Appreciated. And good stuff with the site. Lastly, would you happen to know what language should i learn to write a kernel and for a rom?
And yes i pressed the thanks button
To learn kernels and Roms its best to use Ubuntu Linux. And I found finding a Dev that could teach u what u need, I'm still learning but my Ubuntu is offline so I've not progressed any further yet.

How To Flash A Different HBoot On The Go. I miss the good ol days when we could just flash an hboot on the go via the bootloader itself. Looks like this is the closest were getting for now.
Requirements:
S-Off
Terminal Emulator (Get it free from Google Play)
Commom ADB/Fastboot experience to understand this...
On the device, open Terminal Emulator
Step 1:
Run:
su
Step 2:
Run:
cd sdcard
Step 3:
Run:
dd if=/sdcard/LOCATIONOFHBOOT/HBOOT.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12
Notes:
Replace "LOCATIONOFHBOOT" with the actual location it is stored on. For example, the 3 Hboots I have are stored on /sdcard/System/HBoot/
Replace "HBOOT.img" with the actual name of the hboot file. Example: enghboot.nbo or stock_hboot.img
Final example for my device would be: dd if=/sdcard/System/Hboot/hboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12
KEEP IN MIND, ONCE YOU FLASH AND BOOT INTO THE ENG HBOOT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT BACK UP UNTIL FLASHING ANOTHER HBOOT VIA FASTBOOT.

This is what I want to do, but can't get it to work.
To be clear, on my old Evo 4G LTE, I would package the hboot or recovery into a zip file with android_info.txt, put it on my SD card, and at next boot it would find it and flash it (having s-off of course).
Now with the Sprint HTC One, I connected a USB stick via an OTG cable, verified the phone can see the drive fine while running Android normally (using Solid Explorer), placed a recovery or hboot zip on the USB drive named PN72IMG.zip, and rebooted to the bootloader, but no dice.
In the past you could see the bootloader searching for a valid file on the external card, but now the bootloader doesn't seem to do that anymore, it just starts right up in the fastboot screen, even with my OTG cable and USB drive attached.
So, have you been able to do this successfully, and if so, can you post an example file with that IMG name I could try to get recognized (I don't actually need to flash it), because maybe there is something wrong with the contents of my android_info.txt file? Can anyone think of something I am missing that prevents my quest for bootloader flashing via USB OTG from happening?

So, have you been able to do this successfully, and if so, can you post an example file with that IMG name I could try to get recognized (I don't actually need to flash it), because maybe there is something wrong with the contents of my android_info.txt file? Can anyone think of something I am missing that prevents my quest for bootloader flashing via USB OTG from happening?

I haven't been able to get that to work. Maybe @Indirect knows a trick or two.

Still trying to get flashing from the bootloader to work and tried renaming files to PN72IMG.zip, PN07IMG.zip, and even PN072IMG,zip to no avail
Something I noticed though is that while in Android where my OTG connection works fine, a little light illuminates on my USB drive to show that I am getting power/data. However, when I boot into the bootloader that light is not on, indicating to me that no power/data is being supplied to the port for the USB. So no attempt is even being made to try and read it.
So my question stands if anybody has ever gotten this to work? Maybe it depends on the model of USB drive being used?
Ok here goes, I unlocked my phone flash viper ROM I remember it like yesterday then the new ota update came out flash the ruu to back to stock everything was fine updated the phone unlocked the phone both on win8 and win 7 but I can't flash a custom recovery, any tips are great

Grab a copy of TWRP or CWM recoveries, links are available in original dev section. Put it in the same folder as ADB - which you used in the console/terminal/command line to unlock the phone. Fire up ADB in console, just as you did to unlock the phone, and type:
adb reboot-bootloader
Your phone should go to that white screen with colorful text. Next type:
fastboot flash recovery nameOfRecoveryImage.img
As long as you're unlocked, which you are, this should work flawlessly.
cant get phone to load
I tried to install the maximushd 12.1 on my sprint htc one. I tried to do it thru twrp recovery and now the phone only loads to boot loader. Any suggestions to get the phone back working. I was using viper rom at the time.
I'm going to assume maximushd is some rom for the international HTC One. I would highly recommend against flashing international roms for obvious reasons.
Either way, RUU the phone. If you're on the new firmware (1.31), you'll need to listen to this guy. Then download the 1.29 RUU from one of the dev sections, wherever the hell it is. Then everything will be back to how it was the day you bought it. Then, just do it all again but don't **** it up - ha.
edit: I just reread, you can't get to the recovery from the bootloader? If all you did was install an international rom, you should still be able to access recovery unless twrp has the ability to repartition, which I suppose it possible. I'll do some reading.
edit2: Others were able to fix the problem utilizing the method I outlined. One of them even links directly to the guide above. Should work alright.

I cannot get into recovery. It just keeps going in a vicious cycle. I can choose fastboot or recovery but noting happens.
Did you try to flash a new one with fastboot? fastboot will work in the bootloader.

Just a quick pro-tip for you... if you didn't find the ROM in this forum (because you didn't) then DON'T FLASH IT!
If you found it in the international forums (which you did.) DON'T FLASH IT
Next time do a search because about a hundred other people who aren't good at reading before flashing have done it too.

Hey everyone.
I've spent the better of the last three hours scouring the inter webs, Google, and these forums trying to find the answers to my questions - but to no avail (I've found partial answers, but I am afraid a partial answer could lead to a total brick). So anyway I apologize ahead of time if this has already been addressed somewhere else.
Here we go:
I bought one of the first Sprint HTC One M8's through Amazon. Here are the details:
Model: 831C
Android Version 4.4.2
Software Version 1.12.651.17
Unlocked but S-On (Using TWRP)
Naturally, right out of the box I rooted it. However, I did not save the original recovery image (ROM?).
--> I want to restore the phone to its original state so I can accept the OTA update and hopefully address the god-awful cell signal.
I've found a lot of stock recoveries online, but none that match 1.12.651.17.
Do I need to find that specific recovery (1.12.651.17) to flash to my phone? Will another one work (e.g. 1.54.654.13)? Or, is the recovery image specific to each phone's firmware?
I've never worried about saving my stock recovery in the past (been rooting since the HTC Evo days) but it looks like not doing so finally caught up with me.
Thanks in advance.
PS I did find something 1.12.651.17 related in the link below, but how to flash this to my phone (or whether or not it will brick) is beyond me. I've downloaded all 6 files and am waiting to figure out how the heck to get them to my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048
I don't know if this will help at all, but here is a link to the "Nandroid" backup downloads, courtesy of Rydah805 (thank you).
https://
drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-_A25cR0bQFc1NxdHJkVTJsb0U&usp=sharing
(sorry can't post outside links yet)
I've downloaded all six but am not 100% how to proceed as far as flashing them to the phone via TWRP goes.
Also, not 100% if this will allow me to get back to "stock" so that I can accept the latest OTA update and (hopefully) fix my horrible connection issues.
I am usually one to do my research and then dive in, damn the torpedoes. However in this case I am thinking doing that could turn my phone into a coaster.
all you need is a stock recovery installed and you can do an ota
i was in the same boat as the OP last week. check this thread starting at my post #126 for some assistance from some members:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759908&page=13
instead of going back to stock to accept OTA, i went S-Off using firewater and then flashed the modified firmware located in post #18 in the same thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759908&page=2
cell signal is 100% improved, it uses 3g more than the LTE spark but it doesnt drop calls or go roaming at random now.
hope that helps.

Hot damn that sure does help. I've been having the same issues as you: dropped calls, roaming out of nowhere, failed call origination, etc etc. I may just go the S-Off route instead. Thank you very much for those two links … I have about 24 tabs open in my browser with different possible steps in different possible fixes.

Right on … so any Sprint M8 stock recovery will work? I don't have to specifically get one that matches my phone's current firmware 1.12.651.17?

in one of the posts, Magnum Enforcer directed me to a link in his sig. that was key in getting me across the finish line. his post cleared away so much fog in my brain so big thanks to him.
cant help on the stock recovery question, it was too confusing to me so i went the other direction!
He's referring to the second link in my sig. There is a section in the guide regarding firmware updates. Towards the bottom of the first post is also a link to Captain Throwback's firmware thread. No need to go through the hassle of returning to stock to take the OTA if all you want to do is update your firmware. You have to be S-off to update your firmware.

Outstanding!
So basically to get my phone "up to date" (and equivalent to taking the most recent OTA update), I simply flash the firmware of my choice to my phone. The trick is to be S-off first.
Then, instead of worrying about OTAs I can just flash the latest firmware whenever it becomes available?
Thanks for bearing with me and for all the great info!

Sweet. Thanks man.
Well I'm installing firewater as we speak and I am on the last step after having accepting the terms (including not to taunt firewater). It's hanging up at the "……." part. Not sure if I should hold the power button, start all over, or just panic.

By the way, I'm reading your guide right now (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51516247#post51516247)… awesome work and very helpful, thank you!
Well just an update:
I have tried the firewater method 6 times now and I keep getting stuck at the same screen I attached on the last page of this thread. I've let this sit for as little as 5 minutes and as long as 30 minutes. Holding the power button for 60 seconds doesn't do anything (unless this prompt means I am supposed to restart the phone).
I'm wondering if the fact that I'm stuck at "………" instead of even getting to the "opening bottles" part means one of the following:
I have a conflict somewhere on the phone or my computer.
or
firewater doesn't work with my Sprint HTC M8
I'll keep digging around to see what I can find.
That notwithstanding, I may have to go back to Plan A and see if I can't get this thing unrooted so I can at least get the OTA and fix the #1 issue: horrible cell reception.
Thanks again for all the helpful input!
Another update … I used #firewater on andirc and the response from beaups was el-quicko. It turns out I was trying to install a version of firewater that wasn't the most recent.
So anyway I guess that's good information for anyone who runs into a similar problem in the future:
Make sure you're trying to install the most recent version of firewater! lol
Interesting developments …
Firewater was a success and I also was successful in downloading the latest firmware to my Mac. I had to select all the files in the folder (it didn't download as a zip) and create a zip file while also naming it the correct name.
Everything went fine as far as sending it to my SD card and using HBOOT method to install. The install went perfectly and I rebooted the phone, but when checking under the About>Software Version on my phone it is still showing Software Version 1.12.651.17 …
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Software & firmware are different from one another. Flash a different ROM to change the software version.

I just read a helpful FAQ http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...1-54-651-8-OTA&p=299474&viewfull=1#post299474
Looks like the firmware updates but not the software version.
I'm guessing the same happens whenever someone takes an OTA?

Thank you Magnum! I just came across the FAQ right after your post. So I guess I should go ahead and flash a new ROM just to make the process complete.
Thanks again for the help - I'm sure I've already mentioned this, but your guide was extremely useful. In the past (original Evo 4g) I've always simply rooted my device and that was it; however, now I'm finally dabbling in the S-Off territory. Sounds like you can do a lot more that way.

For sure!
I'm guessing there is really no reason to update my software (that's the RUU stuff, right?) As long as the firmware has been updated, I should hopefully see some improvements to my radio/cell signal.
