Moonshine S-OFF for HTC First - HTC First

Moonshine is now available for the HTC First.
http://moonshine.io/
For support please go to our IRC support channel #moonshiners on the freenode network.

Confirmed working. I was the guinea pig
This also causes system write protection to be disabled.

Will this work on JMZ's Sense ROM, since it's stock-based? Also, does this wipe the phone like what happens when you unlock the bootloader?
EDIT:
Never mind! Answered my own question by being over-excited and impatient. Yes, it'll work on JMZ's Sense ROM, and no, it doesn't wipe anything.

I noticed that the zip says 1.08 and I never did the update. Will this work if I'm still running on 1.05 or do I need to find a way to get the 1.08 update first?

They say it's not supported, it seems like the previous poster had luck using a different ROM but I would do the update just incase, I believe you want to have the proper version of Hboot and other things like that for this to work properly... Better safe than sorry

Thanks. I figured I'd probably have to do so. When I had the One X I flashed over a different version of Hboot and got lucky that it still worked but yeah, I'd much rather be safe than sorry.

JMZ's Sense ROM is based on 1.08, which is why it worked. I agree that I wouldn't try to do it on 1.05.

My experience: tried with JMZ three times but the first time the dos prompt closed itself, the second and third cmd said that there was a problem with adb connection. Rechecked instructions and I've noticed that they say "Ensure that lock screen security is disabled on your device", so I've tried to disable it, but the ring is always active even if i select none.
At this point I have restored a Nandroid backup of the stock rom and tryed again and it has worked like a charm! :good:

So, I've tried to run this twice now and both times I've gotten to a point after "Test 3: Rebooting into bootloader" it starts running through a bunch of dots.
Ex.
............................................................
............................................................
............................................................
............................................................
............................................................
............................................................
.................
And it just keeps going on and on. Is it supposed to be doing that or have a I messed up somewhere along the way?

Yeah I just got this device, can this s-off method work for 1.05 base ?

It keeps you from having to separately push boot images with roms, plus it removes the system write protection. So I'd say yes.

How do I install this? Flash through dem?

[Q] Update.zip signed Needed

Can anybody point the way for a signed.zip for my HTC Incredible, is bricked (half bricked, I can boot into recovery and HBOOT am unrooted)
My problem is extremely complicated so if somebody could somehow help me by giving me a link of a signed update.zip I can apply in recovery and I could somehow downgrade my radio from 2.15 to any, I would deeply appreciated.
Thanks

you can only change your radio through HBOOT.. must be rooted.. needs to be renamed to PB31IMG.zip and SD card needs to be formatted to FAT32 to flash anything through HBOOT
you might want to fully unroot your phone and re-root it using doug pistons RUU http://dougpiston.com/
also please post questions in the Q&A forum for the droid incredible youll get more help over there then here... with the people on here now-a-days all theyll do is run their mouth to you since you made a simple mistake posting in the development section

Why don't you download a pb31img.zip with the radio you want? I think most are already packaged that way, flashable in hboot.
Or, maybe I missunderstood.

I cant plug it in the pc because it is unrecognizable, and i found a fix for the usb but the guide asks that i need to be rooted and that should fix the 5 vibrations etc etc...
But then again am i still rooted? I mean i never unrooted my phone... Could it ve possible in still rooted with s-on? And how can i be sure?

When I sent my old Inc back I had to do this...
- Flash the stock radio...
- Use the unrevoked.zip to flash S-On
- Then install RUU.
It worked fine...you will be able to RUU.
Edit: Also you can download these files and transfer them between a SD card reader from your computer if you cannot use the usb cord to go direct.
Unless I am missing something here...the OP isnt really clear with his 'situation'
Im not sure if I understand the issue here but why dont you download the froyo update zip file and place it on the sdcard and boot in Hboot and downgrade to stock and than just root your phone with unrevoke...??
I fixed it using this guide. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14440621.
Thank goodness, I'm lucky the resolution to my bricked phone was out last month.
I did have to root, and i rooted using some application there temporary and it worked. That was a life saver .
Now I just have to fix the meid since it says is unavailable.
And sorry I put in the wrong forum, I just thought it would go under Android Dev because it involved fixing a Android Os bug in the Froyo 2.2 leaked update.
Well now I have my phone rooted with 2.2 S-off and recognizing sd card and being recognized by the computer

Just a friendly word of advice. The development section is a place for devs to post their work such as ROMS and Kernels. The Q&A section is where you post for answers to problems. And work arounds, like your other post in here, would fit more into General. Eventually if you keep posting non development things in this forum someone will start flaming you and then things can get ugly. The moderators will eventually move these to the correct forums but I'm just giving you a heads up some people can get rather po'ed at the smallest infraction. Others don't care and will try and help you out regardless as you have seen.

Major root issues HELP! partial brick?

*First of all, I'm posting here because I haven't had enough posts for the dev section yet..*
So...I've never had any issues rooting and installing ROMs.. not that I've done a TON, but two phones and 3 tablets, so I little ha..
Got my HTC One unlocked and rooted fine with the All-in-one tool, which worked good enough, but when I tried to get a ROM working is when I ran into issues.
I guess I'll tell the main issue first and then explain what happened..
Either only boots to bootloader/fastboot,
OR
Gets stuck on HTC logo and never leaves..
Am I screwed?
What I did that I think effed it...
After getting rooted and running, I tried to install RenovateROM_1.0...kept just randomly stopping and giving an error about "asset failed..." and just booted normally (no ROM)
I googled the hell out of that I tried editing the updater-script like I saw in so many places, and then I screwed up cause it was 3:30am and I was sick of trying.
I was gonna wipe the cache and data before I tried installing again, but I ended up wiping System in there and possibly Dalvik cache as well..
(I know that was stupid now!!!! Feel free to remind me haha..)
And now it's stuck.
If I try install a ROM, it says it completes, but won't boot past fastboot/bootloader.
If I re-flash my TWRP with fastboot, then reboot-bootloader, THEN reboot, it gets the HTC and stays.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks much in advance..
-Shaun
I did that too kinda (wiped everything on accident) Try to ADB sideload the Rom in the advanced options to TWRP otherwise you have to download the RUU and relock the phone up etc. And start over.

AFAIK there are 4 HTC One forums
HTC One
Sprint HTC One
AT&T HTC One
T-Mobile HTC One
You may have flashed a rom for another variant do you have a link I didn't see that rom listed
Your right bigdaddy, shaun you flashed a gsm rom i'm guessing from the unbranded forum.
Download the ruu from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904
boot your phone into bootloader and make sure your bootloader is in fastboot
extract that ruu file to somewhere you can find easily maybe the desktop
open your command prompt and navigate to your android sdk folder and run this fastboot command
fastboot oem lock
then after you've relocked the bootloader
run the command
fastboot oem rebootRUU
run the setup.exe from the ruu file and let it return you to stock

I found this link on the m7 forum is this what you flashed? if so this for the non-branded gsm htc one and not the cmda sprint htc one
it also looks like you flashed the renovate rom initial release, That dev is using svn to update nightlies. I'm guessing the "sprint support" is in one of those updates and not the initial release

good deal. Just remember to read everything before flashing. And if your unsure ask. I've had very minimal issues with flashing and changing settings but when I have its been totally my fault for not completely reading an op. if you flash and go back to read a step you've missed its usually too late.

Yeah dude, you're lucky that the international rom you flashed had asserts in it to check device type, or you might've had an actual paperweight on your hands. Stick to the Sprint forums next time.
Yeah I scared myself for sure.. even this morning activating it scared me a little cause normally use the DEC, but it said 'not a valid Sprint ESN', and the HEX
worked great.
Any ideas why that would be?

[Q] Accidentally installed GSM ROM on CDMA Sprint HTC One

A couple of days ago I thought it would be a GREAT idea to install a GSM ROM (Android Revolution HD) on my Sprint HTC One. I am now able to go into the recovery and flash a different ROM, but the ROM will boot up but shut down several seconds after reaching the home screen. I have been told that using an RUU might help, but will that work even if my computer doesn't recognize my phone as a USB device? All help is appreciated
EDIT: FIXED THANKS TO BIGDADDY619'S GUIDE ON THE SECOND PAGE

Maybe you screwed your radio but i'm not sure this is the answer to your problems... To be able to run a RUU your pc MUST recognize your phone in fastboot mode.
I repaired a friends device that did the same thing. When it boots you will see a lock screen with no wallpaper and then it will shutdown.
An RUU is the ONLY way to fix it.

There's nothing special about an RUU, it's just a self extracting archive that uses fastboot to flash stuff.
It can be done by hand, such as with a nandroid backup.

If you have S-OFF it will...
These instructions are for the Sprint variant only
You will need to be unlocked and have twrp installed for this to work (I'm posting this here because of my work schedule if you need further assistance PM back hopefully you and Matt can get it working )
1. Follow this guide Guide - Get s-off on 1.31 HTC One (Sprint) Update:
You will get a failed warning after issuing the echo blah blah command this is normal and nothing to be worried about and after the echo command type exit to exit the adb shell and continue.
2. Get the RUU here click the first link in the thread(extract it to your desktop/open it and click setup it will scan your device,go thru the various screens reading the warnings and checking the boxes, once it starts it will take 10-20 minutes to complete) once it's done you will be back to completely stock.
Optional:
Use revone to gain s-off (if you go with this option once you are s-off you won't need to use HTC-Dev to unlock your bootloader because revone does it for you) A sidenote about revone it will fail several times just press the UP arrow on your keyboard to issue the same command and press enter.Watch the cmd window for instructions to reboot and continue.
or flash a Sprint rom from the Sprint forum
Any other questions or concerns post here or PM me
Good Luck

Use revone to gain s-off (if you go with this option once you are s-off you won't need to use HTC-Dev to unlock your bootloader because revone does it for you) A sidenote about revone it will fail several times just press the UP arrow on your keyboard to issue the same command and press enter.Watch the cmd window for instructions to reboot and continue.
or flash a Sprint rom from the Sprint forum

[Q] Help, Please

HTC One
Sprint
HBOOT 1.55
S [ON]
OS 3.04.651.2
Problem: Friend thought it would be cool to put Android Revolution HD on my HTC One since he did it on his and wanted to surprise me with it...
Long story short he did, and now I have a soft bricked device. I've tried pushing a stock and a custom ROM through ADB sideload and I end up with a phone that acts like it is going to work, gets to the lock screen and freezes. It has no service but that's irrelevant because I can't even get past the lock screen. I can however use my volume key to raise and lower volume.
Can anyone get me past this or am I screwed till a new RUU comes out/way to get S [OFF] after hitting 1.55?
You can try this I'm not sure if it will work but it's worth a try

Thanks so much for the reply, I'll give it a shot. I'm desperate right now willing to try anything.
Also forgot to mention the boot animation does fine, the phone acts like it's going to work fine then it just plain freezes where it would normally give you the "sign into google account" and name your phone. So I'm not sure what's missing if anything, if anyone has solved this and is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it.
Your partitions are messed up because he flashed a GSM rom on your CDMA device

Yeah, exactly. Is there any way I can go about fixing that? I'm checking out that guys thread, and it sounds promising... but I can't figure out how to get my drive to sync with my PC to transfer it to TWRP to install it. I'm going to try to ADB it but I doubt that will work. Starting to lose hope at the moment lol but trying to stay optimistic.

Only way to fix the partitions is to run an RUU which we don't have.
Is your phone seen by your PC when it's plugged in and booted to the rom? I know it doesn't boot correctly but maybe you can move the file to your phone.
You could also try adb push nameoffile.zip /sdcard/ most likely won't work because of the partitions
Format with TWRP first to get partitions clean, then adb push Rom/sideload

I'm pretty sure the radio partition get overwritten as well so I would say format sd in twrp, flash a radio in fastboot then sideload your Rom and flash it

Thanks for the replies guys, going to try that now. It feels like entire ROM would work fine and there was just "something missing" from my phone. It may very well be a radio. I know something got wiped that shouldn't have because I had to do partition reset due to... well I'm sure you know. Also had to side load TWRP. Learning experience for me, not frustrated at least I'm getting knowledge to help others with it if I can solve it on my own.
Okay so, reporting back that FIXED my no service issue, and it's bringing up updates in the notification bar, only problem is I can't use the touch interface. I don't think my phone is broken, I think it just lacks everything that makes it a smartphone.
Anyone have an idea as to what I can flash to get it back up and running? It feels like it's missing touch interface, and whatever is needed to initiate the "factory" setup screens. Shouldn't the ROM include all of that? I put Viper ROM 1 on there. Progress was made, but it's missing something lol.
The radio also stopped it from resetting and turning itself off after 30 seconds like it was doing previously. Is there a flash-able touch interface I can throw on it? Heh...
Also noticed after it was plugged in for a couple of minutes it's detected by my PC now so I don't need to side-load anymore. Not that it was hard to, just a step forward I think. Just need to figure out what's missing from the boot screen and what I need to put on it to be able to use the touch screen. Any ideas?

You are the MAN my phone's fixed now. BoO YaH. Now I can go beat my buddy up with peace of mind knowing my phone is in good working order.
Now running Stock with goodies, guess the other custom ROMs I put on it were just lacking 4.3 stability. You rock broski.

New firmware had updated touch drivers. That's why your touch screen wasn't working right.

Your the man bigdaddy, good to know there is a glimmer of hope for those with 4.3 and s-on.

Since you're on the newest firmware you can only flash 4.3 sprint roms..the touchscreen firmware has been updated. You can't downgrade or s-off because you're on hboot 1.55. Just sideload a 4.3 Rom and you'll be up and running fine

[Q] Failing at S-Off

So I want to upgrade to KitKat, checked stuff out, I need S-Off. Okay, I check out S-Off, I find Revone. Looks easy enough. I take a whack at it, everything goes well, then I do the ./revone -s 0 -u. Nothing. Just reboots. No confirmation, nothing. Okay, so that didn't work. I check out some other threads, it sounds like you should be running 4.2.2 for optimum results. Download CM 4.2.2, flashed with gapps, everything is hunky dory. I go to do my lil revone trick again, and fail again. So now I'm looking for other solutions, and I find moonshine (which doesn't work at all) and rumrunner, which works up to the point that it says "waiting for fastboot," when my phone is obviously IN fastboot. Any solutions? I'd like to finish this up with rumrunner because it's gotten me the farthest. Yes, I have all the drivers on my PC, no HTC sync, I know my stuff well enough to know ADB and fastboot. Help? THANK YOU.
Edit: just gave it another go and it does everything, right up to rebooting into fastboot, but it STILL doesn't recognize it's in fastboot....
Edit2: I just read something else that said KK requires latest TWRP as well, so I'm updating to that in hopes that will somehow help.
Edit3: seems to be a driver problem. Of course I start to find the solution after hours of searching, but only after posting a thingy. But it sounds like other people have been having problems even when they've updated their drivers, so if anyone has any tips for me still, please, by all means.
Edit4: it's a Windows 8.1 problem apparently, which seems to only be fixed by updating to hboot 1.55, which doesn't have an s-off thing. So great. Any solutions?
ALSO I'm on hboot 1.44

if you're on hboot 1.44 (pre June 2013), you can still use revone directly on your phone using a terminal app, such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en or any other one terminal app
but you will need a Sense 5 based ROM (preferably 4.1.2), suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48955645&postcount=250

if you have an OTG cable, you can use that to get the ROM and revone onto your phone, otherwise you'll just have to download them directly on the phone.
revone won't work with CM roms, as far as i know; best chance is with 4.1.2 ROM (Sense 5), the one I linked has worked for myself and well over 15 others by now from the first try.
But make sure hboot is 1.44 and dated before June 2013!!
I couldn't do a thing with Windows. Drivers are never thought so I got myself a copy of 32bit Ubuntu. NOT 64! Put it on a cheque and booted into that. I didn't install it, just ran it as if trying it. Then I got the proper rumrunner for Ubuntu and my device. No need for drivers in Ubuntu. Worked the very first time. You can also run Ubuntu from a USB... Maybe give this a shot
EDIT.... I was on stock, rooted with custom recovery and 1.55 bootloader

It's fine, the phone can be used as MTP and it's easy to transfer the revone file over, it just doesn't do anything past ./revone -P, it reboots and does nothing.

Yeah, I somehow missed the terminal bit. Tried that too now though. I flashed the ARHD ROM, and am using the terminal, but now I'm getting an error code -6 from revone. I'm not even sure if ADB is on, I can't find the ADB setting in ARHD :/
Edit: turns out it's hboot 1.44, March 18, 2013. >.< Trying the Ubuntu method next I guess.
