Oh! For the love of &$^*&...... - Motorola Atrix HD

Alright, I'm still having issues getting my boot animation to work. Under ICS it only plays the second part of the animation and the audio. Under JB it plays all the visuals but no audio. Under JB it works sometimes, and by "it" I mean the boot animation all together!
I've tried all the tutorials I can find. I've tried using Boot Animation Factory that I found in one of the XDA forums.
Why can't I get a fully working boot animation!?
P.S. Sorry for creating another thread, but my other one was getting buried under all the more important threads. I'm trying to create a FULL Zelda-based android theme.

How are you making the boot animation?
Are you using Boot Animation Factory?
or are you manually making the bootanimation.zip?
Did you put the folder name (exactly) in the desc.txt?

I've tried both methods. The following is how my desc.text is setup:
720 1280 200
p 1 0 Part0
s android_audio.ogg

A few questions about Bootanimation swaps

Hello fellow xda forumers sad first post, But I plan on being active here & contributing.
I've looked into boot animation swapping, after looking around the forums here I've found a bootanimation.zip containing a bunch of png's for sequences in a folder called "part0", I've made images to sequence, But am unaware how to do this & every guide has only confused me. Im using CM 4.2.15.1, G1 "Dream" incase that helps on a 1.6 base. I believe the nickname is "cupcake" pardon me if im wrong. If anyone could offer their assistance or point me in the proper direction for a guide it would be much appreciated.
My sequence is uploaded here, note its semi "SWF". It's Louise as thats my forum name everywhere I go if available.
Edit: I've realised I most likely posted this in the wrong section, sorry for that.
Rename you images from boot_00003.png through boot_00097.png
Place them in part0
Rename another set boot_00098.png through boot_00146.png
Place them in part1
Edit the desc.text from 320 256 to 320 to 480
See attachement
Thanks a bunch, Will put it in now and see how it goes!
Seem's like its not working with CM4, instead of complaining: Updating to CM5 seeing how it goes since CM4, seems...obsolete compared to CM5.
It is obsolete, you will love CM5

I hope..this works.
*Maybe because Im using a JFe Recovery Mode*
edit: CM5 is now installed
Using the boot animation from above, it's just black *Used the commands

cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
reboot
Black load up
Great job updating to CM5, you will be happy!
As you may have guessed, Eclair+ firmwares (2.0+) are the only versions of Android to accept bootanimations in the way you wish to accomplish. As CM4 is Donut (1.6) based, you were experiencing problems.
I wish I could help you with the bootanimations, but to be honest, I've only ever been able to get them half-working.
its a black screen because you have compressed your images in the zip, you must set it to store in the zip for it to work, read my tutorial, link in sig

I am using this boot animation since a few days!
Though its weird that the its written DROID when the phone starts up(as Samsung has no Droid) but still it looks good.I like it better than the n1 boot animation.
As written in the title it is a mod of the Motorola Droid X boot animation, so that shouldnt be surprising.
dude can u please make a file which can be applied from recovery and post the link here..
OK.

hmm.. can someone post a link to another host like mediafire? From where I am, it's virtually impossible to download from these two hosts, as they always say download limit exceeded.
Is this the same one in Frozen Eclair?

Does this animation cycle the "droid" text again and again or does it show "DROID" only one and then stays on the "green eye"?
Droid once, then green eye loop.
just hoping
now I really like this boot animation but every time I have tried to use it on my droid x it comes up as nothing does it have to be resized to 480 x 480 and if so is there anyone out there that can make this? as I love the color green and would love it so much to be able to use this animation for my phone thanx
Good work, sir. This is pretty badass. I'd like to resize it to 480 x 480 and drop the framerate down to 15 or 20. Any suggestions on doing that correctly? I've tried but no luck yet.
Loving the bootanimation man works great on my Galaxy S, but is there any chance you could up-scale it for the bigger screen?
may i test it first bro??
than i will review again
great!!!!!!!!

ive been trying to create my own boot animations, but they never seem to load up.
The zip file contains two sub-folders, one with the main boot animation and one with the splash screen right?
Ive downloaded a few different bootanimation.zip's and tried to edit them around (photoshopped some of the images), but any changes I make result in the bootloader failing at boot.
Is there a set limit on the amount of images there has to be in each folder? Can they not be jpeg files??
Thanks for the help boys and girls

Hi, first am not sure what you mean by two folders one for bootanimation and one for Splash screen.
Bootanimation is the second screen after booting the device.
First screen when you turn on your device that's the splash screen
Both has adifferent way of flashing.
The two folders you have one for the main bootanimation and the second for the looping images.(a main part that loops until the OS is loaded)
the image limit number not to exceeded 199 in each folder to be safe.
jpeg or png are fine(you have to set your resolution )
make sure your Desc.txt are edit correctly.
you should be fine.....
You rock wohoo Thx a lot man

hello,
am also pretty new to this but i will try to explain as far as my knowledge,
This Desc.txt will include the following(example):
480 800 30
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
Let's break down the parts of the file:
Width Height Frame-rate
p Loop Pause Folder1
p Loop Pause Folder2
so in another way:
P 1(loop once) 0(no Pause) part0(folder name)
P 0(loop until loading the OS) 0(no Pause) part1(folder name)
and you can change how you want your loop to look like for my case i have only one folder keep looping until the OS start
so my Desc.txt will be something like this:
480 800 30
p 0 0 part0
if i want it to loop once(graphics will stop at the last frame)
480 800 30
p 1 0 part0
try to download boot animation folder(ready to work) and take it as example...
(how to number the pictures, folders,Desc.txt) am sure that will help you more also.
hope that explain it...
take care and Good Luck

[UPDATED 04/01/12] [OFFICIAL] Team EOS Boot Animations

As promised, I will be releasing animations regularly. Here are links to each:
1. Draw-On Graffiti Style Animation (The original from this post)
2. Team EOS Silver 3D Text Animation (A <2mb Replacement Quick Render)
3. Team EOS New Logo Design Animation! A first look at our new logo! (Full Animation) [NEW 04/01/12]
Artists! Design your own styled EOS themed animations. We have a skilled community and I'm sure you guys could come up with some great ones! They should be no larger than 12mb (at the most) and be verified working. Post them to this thread and I will add them here. Who knows, yours may end up in a later release!
To replace the stock zip use a market app like BAC orrr:
(this assumes that you are running a rooted aosp-sourced build and understand how to manipulate the filesystem in r/w)
Make backups of your bootanimation.zip file(s):
Check both /data/local and /system/media
1. Rename the downloaded animation file to bootanimation.zip
2. Check /data/local and delete bootanimation.zip if it exists.
3. Enter /system/media, delete bootanimation.zip, and move the new zip into its place.
4. Reboot the system.
If it borks it will either revert back to the shiny android text sequence and boot fine
OR
loop endlessly (could look fine could look crazy distorted, no matter) and still boot fine...with the exception that nothing will work.
If this happens, connect to the adb shell as superuser, list processes, and kill the bootanimation process. Revert your animation, report it to the designer and live happily ever after.

I did the same thing and ran into the same problem. I had to reboot into recovery and restore a previous nandroid. The boot animation looked cool, just not sure what the issue is. I sat there for 5+ minutes looking at "for science!".
to be honest guys there's two things I changed - firstly, we're running our build of ICS. Secondly, I'm using jpegs to reduce size. Nothing else has changed, and to be honest I've had this animation as well as others act unpredictably and work sometimes and loop others after copying over the *exact* same animation. I will do more research also, and any trials and error data would be helpful.
Quick side question: are you guys who are having loops using titanium backup, using the setup initiated google backup/restore, and/or running a security app such as Webroot on your tablets?
Also, are you copying these manually or using an app and to which location?

I'm using root explorer to push the bootanimation.zip to data/local directory... I do have titanium backup, but I only use it for user apps, not system, and I'm not using the google backup service or any kind of security app... Hope you get this working soon, really like this bootanimation. and thanks for taking the time to look into it...
OK everyone, turns out I made a mistake with my finalized formatting that I use. Here is the link to a proper working boot animation with the proper format. I will also update the link in the first post.
I will also render an ICS stock animation in this format and get it out today.

Oh, and for submitted animations, the specifications are:
-PNG or JPG Sequences
-704 x 440 size
-desc.txt should be 1408 880 24
also - the images must all have a border of deadspace static pixels.
You may use the template I posted here

[BOOTANIMATION] QHD Moto X with Nexus Logo and Nexus 6 Trailer <Updated 10/04/15>

[BOOTANIMATION] QHD Moto X with Nexus Logo and Nexus 6 Trailer <Updated 10/04/15>
Hello XDA,
I always liked the Moto X Boot Animation when i had mi Xperia Z Ultra and Note 3, but i never get to used it since they was a Sony and a Samsung, so no M logo for them.
But now with my Nexus the history is diferent, and since i never liked the google's Boot Animation (only the Galaxy Nexus One) with the X or the coloured dots spinning around, i've decided to update it with a cooler one.
i was triying to use MP4 videos as Boot animation, but seems like it only works on 5.0.x and not 5.1, so i decided to build a QHD version of the regular (using images) Moto X Boot Animation, and later i've decided to include the nexus logo in it.
I used the Boot Animation version from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/motorola-moto-x-bootanimation-t2391927 and upscaling to 1440x2560, and include the nexus logo in the bottom of the Motorola Logo.
Here you will find the bootanimation.zip that i've made and the original one in case you messed it up.
just rename your old one to .bak and copy the new one setting Octal 644 permissions or rw-r-r and thats it.
Moto X Boot Animation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8mccIIJvIWnNWUtaWhnS25kTnM/view?usp=sharing
Stock Boot Animation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8mccIIJvIWnb3lwRXdjeV85M1E/view?usp=sharing
i was going to make a .zip version to install via recovery, but this is almost idiotproof, since if you mess it, it wil either go black during boot, or just show Android logo.
Some Frame Images Attached
Update...
Well i was looking for nice BA to port for Nexus, but most of them were in really low resolution, so when you upscale them the result was all pixelated, so i start working to convert videos to BA, and this is my first attempt.
This Boot Animation it's extracted from the Official Nexus 6 Trailer, and ends with the word nexus breathing while the X goes and comes. its in landscape mode, but the result is pretty good.
Remember to rename your original BA to .bak and then push the new one. In case you mess it up, just get into TWRP, mount system, then get in to advanced and file explorer, navigate to system/media, delete the BA.zip and rename the.bak to .zip and thats it.
As ussual, just push the zip to System/Media to use this BA, and set permissions to 644 (rw-r-r)

I was thinking the Same, but i couldn't find the black version. i was trying to change the white version to black, but since it has a lot of details around the logo, it was a titanic task to change 303 images one by one.
found one, but i still dont like it... it has like a white holow around the logo because of the objects.
Looks and works great!!
Thanks for the boot animation!
