[Q] How to turn off signiture verification on S Advance? - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to install custom room and I do what it told me to. But My S advance wont let me install it. It says, E: Signiture Verification failed. How do I turn it off?

You can't turn off if you're using stock recovery. If you sign the zip, recovery will allow the zip installation.

Problems in recovery mode

Hi, first post so go easy on me if this has been asked before!
I'm basically having problems in recovery mode. When I try to do a Nandroid backup there is no option for it. When I select reinstall packages the status says failed to install update.zip or something along the lines of that. Same thing happens when I try to flash a rom. Anybody know whats going on?
Did you install cwm recovery using rom manager?
Yeah I did. I flash the latest version with rom manager. I see the update.zip in the internal sd card folder but im still getting the same message.
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Did you flash the leaked froyo? If so you have 3e recovery, and clockwork recovery will not work. You will have to flash back to stock using odin. You can find it in the captivate development thread. Make sure you are flashing jh6. All of the custom roms have fixed this problem with the recovery not working with clock work
If you are not on the leaked froyo I have nothing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I'm almost sure he has to be on Froyo. 3e recovery requires signed .zips which is where he's having the issues with.

[Q] Cannot install 2.2 - I see "E:signature verification failed"

Hi,

If I remember right, you can turn of Signature verification in that menu just when your about to choose zip.
i did turn off Signature verification but now its giving E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7) error

[Q] problems with clockworkmod recovery

I have rom manager and flashed my clockwork recovery.... but when i choose to reboot into clockwork recovery it goes to my regular recovery menu(i think).... then i go down to reinstall packages and i looks like it starts a process(i see a status bar) but it never finishes the update and says E:failed to verify whole-file singature E: signature verification failed installation aborted. what am i doing wrong? i am new to android rooting but i was very savvy at hacking(jailbreaking and unlocking) iphones. i have 2.2 froyo rooted on my captivate and i'm trying to get serendipity 3.0....... thanks for any help!
Wrong section, let flames engulf you
You need to swap kernels or flash back to stock. Leaked 2.2 will not use unsigned zips like clockwork
how do i swap kernels?

You can follow my guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213 , takes literally 10seconds, but others will tell you to flash with Odin

Backup current ROM

Whenever I try to put the device in recovery mode to backup the current ROM using ROM Manager, it fails giving message:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
This has started happening after I installed officially released 2.2 Froyo from ATT. I do not want to flash new ROM without backing the current one.
can anyone help?
it might be the 3e recovery thats causing the problem because the stock one does signature checks before it flash stuff.

this place has a good write up on stock 3e recovery.

Any reason why you want to back up a stock rom?
It is fine now....
I just flashed cm7 on the phone...and every thing is working fantastic now...we can leave the issue behind now...
Thanks a TON for the reply....

Bootlooped after unrooting on OC5 SM-G870A

Well, I did a complete unroot on my phone via the menu option and after rebooting, my phone bootloops.
To begin with, there was nothing fancy, just OC5 stock, stock recovery and rooted. I tried flashing with OJ3, G870A OC5 Stock rooted rom, and even tried flashing the G870AUCU1ANE4_G870AATT1ANE4 from Odin but they all fail.
When I try and install the roms using the recovery install from external, i get the verification errorm which I think is because they aren't signed by samsung.
Verifing the update package:
E: Footer is wrong
E. Signature Verification Failed
Installation aborted.
When I tried to install the official MD5, I got a "Failed to map file" error.
What can I do from here? I just want a working phone at this point. I don't care about root now.

I got my phone working again so I will post here in case anyone else runs into trouble.
I was able to determine that my phone was on OF3, no OC5 as I originally thought. I was able to determine this by reading through the recovery log in Recovery Mode.
To resolve the bootloop, I followed the the method outlined here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65548400&postcount=64
At first, after applying the update.zip, I thought it was hung, but eventually I just let it sit and then voila! working.
Of course it wasn't really as quick as this, it was hours of trying different things and poring through the forums. At any rate, I hope this helps someone.
