Hey Guys,
I was really pumped when bluetooth came out because having a bluetooth keyboard really completes the nook color. I bought a small DSI compact keyboard which (physically) kind of sucks. My real problem though seems to be one of connectivity. The keyboard connects and works for a bit, but any time I get to really typing on it it loses the connection to the nook. Then I have to wait for it to reconnect and IF it does the whole issue repeats.
I'm certainly willing to buy a new keyboard. Before I do though I want to know if this is an issue with the BT or the KB. Does anybody have a perfectly working BT keyboard and can you recommend a particular model/brand. My goal is something compact and portable. Preferably one that folds up if possible.
Thanks
Currently the BT stack in the Nook has a VERY limited range, measured in inches not feet. Since BT uses the same antenna as the WiFi (same chip as well) the issue is PROBABLY a power setting in configuration or in the kernel.
Now we have a stable CM7 hopefully the devs will be able to focus on this item.
In other words it probably isn't your keyboard and waiting a couple of weeks to see if there is progress on the BT strack will be more productive.
Thanks for the reply. I had heard that. For the most part I have the keyboard flush against the nook, but I'm sure you're right.
I'll be patient.
Has anyone been able to get the older Apple BT keyboard to work on the nook with CM7? It looks like it pairs up but won't respond at all. I know the newer one is paired by typing a code on the keyboard and the nook but the nook never asks me for a code on the old one. Any advice will be much appreciated!

I have both the newer 2 battery and older 3 battery design. I cannot get the older one to work but can on the newer one. I've not seen anyone report that they have been able to get the old one to work. I'm not sure what the differences are but you are out of luck for now.
FYI: i could connect and pair the old one just fine, it just never responded. Do the same thing with the newer bt keyboard and you are good to go.
this was of course on cm7. (even though there is a bt kernel for froyo now)
Bummer...
First of all, sorry if there is already a thread about this. I looked through a lot of the threads and could not find an answer.
I know that Honeycomb supports bluetooth mice input. I was wondering if DJ Steve's ICS build supports it also or if any of the roms do support bt mice input. I really want to transform my streak into a laptop. I am hoping to use the mice just so i dont have to keep touching the screen and also for the Onlive gaming app.
If anyone can help me with this question, thanks.
Would be nice to know. Just bought that Rii bluetooth keyboard with touchpad. Not sure how the touchpad works for it. So far seems the streak 7 only sees it as a BT keyboard.
hi, got my keyboard sorted out but can anyone recommend a cheap blue tooth gps and mouse for the nook hd. preferable available in th uk.
thanks/
I'm curious because I'm looking for keyboard and mouse. What keyboard was your choice and why?
I've been using my Motorola Bluetooth keyboard. A couple of the shortcut keys don't work but other then that it works quite well. As to why, because I already owned it.
I haven't tried a Bluetooth mouse yet. Might have to look for one.
I have an old GPS puck as well that is working nicely. You will need a program for the Nook to see the GPS puck. I have been using Bluetooth GPS Provider and it works perfectly.
I bought this one , it was reasonably cheap to try as it was more or less the same as the cost of a case at that time

MS Bluetooth Mouse 5000 in-store coupon, Staples, $14.99
Ran across an online coupon for Staples, in-store only and good through June 15, 2013. Purchased the Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000 for $14.99.

Device paired easily and works. I used 0000 as the PIN which was suggested by the Nook software. BUT the wheel operates backwards from what I'm used to, because I'm old school mouse-wheel-wise. The cursor is tiny.

thanks for this thread and your post...
I have the Microsoft BT keyboard 6000 which pairs perfectly with my Nook HD plus... now looking for a BT mouse... will try the 5000...
rec'd my MS BT mouse 5000... paired perfectly the first time. Other than the cursor being TEENY on the screen... once you know you're looking for a VERY SMALL blue arrow, the cursor is easy to find... the 5000 is an ideal match for the Nook HD +. Got the nook, got the keyboard, got the mouse... I'm ready for travel. Thanks for all the tips!

I've been thinking about getting a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use with my HD+, but I'm also wondering what the real advantages are. Would it help me with editing in QPython and AIDE?
Thanks,

I use the microsoft bluetooth mouse and logitech android keyboard when I have detailed editing to do (mainly HTML, CSS, javascript with Jota+ editor) and have also used with Kingsoft Office. For me that works out better than one or two-fingering it when I'm coding or editing copy. YMMV.
I personally consider editing in QPython with the onscreen keyboard to be painful, so I've been using Visual Studio on my Win7 box to edit the Python files before porting them over to the Nook. I even got Kivy working with Visual Studio on Win7.
Do you consider using the keyboard and mouse an enjoyable experience?
Somebody in a thread somewhere linked to a "ThinkPad Compact Bluetooth Keyboard With TrackPoint", which looks pretty cool.

I was able to use an app on my Galaxy Nexus phone to have it export it's GPS data over bluetooth.
[search for GPS 2 Bluetooth v.4 - by cajax on Google play - I can't post links yet]
I'm sure it's not as good as a dedicated GPS, but it's free and seemed to work fine in a short test I made today.
With that and foxfii tethering on my phone, google maps on the nook is sweet.
EDIT: I used this to and from work today (30-40 miles) and it performed flawlessly. Wish I could say as much for foxfi tethering - but that's unrelated.
I am running a stock HD+ , and just purchased a logitech K810 Illuminated BT keyboard which I really like.
Problem is that the K810 needs a 6 digit PIN to pair with the nook, and unlike my motorola triumph with a custom ICS rom, the nook simply won't display the pin, meaning no pairing will occour. (This was not a problem with the logitech mediaboard pro KB, which I also own, but which is too big and cumbersome for travel).
Would appreciate any advice about how to get this working. Happy to root or otherwise mess with the hardware if that is necessary to get it working.
TIA!!
