[Q] Files in recovery and files in ROM different ( Android Revolution HD 10.2 |)

Hi,
I realised that after flashing the rom, all my stuff are gone from the phone, however when I am in recovery the fiels are still there. When I plug my phone into the computer, I can see the files in the rom but not recovery.
How does this happen?

Coming from HTC Desire these all are a lil confusing, but i read about userdata partition + virtual SD card on userdata partition.
I it possible to install the rom on userdata partition?

cut and paste all your files from data/media to data/media/0
and learn about 4.2.2 multi user support and also SEARCH NEXT TIME because this has been answered 4309758427525 times

because of your recovery.
chang your recovery in twrp.

Hopefully I can help, because I think I just went through the same thing. Had TWRP installed when I was on a 4.1 stock ROM, then upgraded to 4.2.2 ROM. Now the folders didn't match and I couldn't see my NANDROIDS.
Short answer, reinstall TWRP using the Toolkit once you've upgraded to 4.2.2 and you should reset your folder selections.

Do what llNexusll said. You should have saved your sdcard content to your computer, then formatted your sdcard in recovery after flashing 4.2.2, then transferred your sdcard content from computer to phone.

Files in storage disappears after a rom install. 21GB used and I can't find it.

I decided to flash the Android Revolution 4.2.2 ROM after waiting diligently for an OTA. I made nandroid backup, wiped my data and flashed the ROM as usual. As expected all app and app data were gone, but all the files, music and picture were as well. The twist is that they are still there somewhere within the file system. In my storage info it shows that I have 20GB of unknown files on my device but they are no where to be found. I checked:
/sdcard/
/mnt/sdcard/
/storage/emulated/0/
/storage/emulated/legacy/
/storage/sdcard0/
and they all showed the same default clean install files(weird). Is there a way to mount some partition I don't know about to recover my files? Is this a problem with HTC's weird sdcard emulation? Is there even a way to completely delete everything on internal storage?

As stated on mikes page it was highly recommended to format your sd before installation of 4.2.2... Because android 4.2.2 handles files differently from 4.1. Not HTC s doing I believe(correct if wrong)

Try data/media/

Use the ADB method. it will move everything.

I case anyone has the same problem. It was in data/media as redbull123 stated. It appears as if Astro File Manager doesn't display the files in the folder while ES File Explorer does.

[i9001] Unable to uninstall apps, wipe data, flash rom with Odin or CWM

Hi all, this is my first post on XDA. I'm having big troubles with my device, a Samsung Galaxy S Plus i 9001 and I'm looking for some advice.
After a clean installation of the rom i had been using for some time I started to get messages of force close for most of the apps installed at every boot. The ROM in question is SmoothieICS v2. I believe that the reason of this issue is the fact that I restored all the apps and the data with Titanium backup. To solve the problem I tried to restore a nandroid backup via CWM (version 6.0.1.0), but when a rebooted, the backup was not installed at all and the force close messages continued. After that I tried to wipe data and cache, reinstall the ROM via CWM and Odin, install the stock ROM, fix permissions, format the partition, but nothing worked. Every time I reboot the device, the old ROM boot up with the same force close messages.
I've read several posts on XDA with similar issues, but usually a clean reinstall worked fine. At the moment I'm out of option.
Find attache a copy of the logcat recorded after rebooting the device.
Any suggestion to save my phone is really appreciated.

Some tips here:
1: Flash BroodROM RC5 (this is an Gingerbread ROM with all the partitions of our device) via odin
2: flash CWM 5.5.0.4 (this is in my eyes the most stable recovery) and wipe all (system, data, cache,dalvic etc)

First solution,
SmoothieICS is an outdated ROM. Currently there are more stable and bug free releases are available for our device. You can try that.
But, the choice is yours, if you want to continue with it,
Access download mode, install a stable and safe recoveries like CWM 5.5.04, TWRP 2.2.1, or CWM 6.0.3.2 via odin or you can try to flash it via current recovery.
Then do a full data wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache. If necessary, delete the partition and do a full format
Restore the nandroid backup or do a fresh install

Things happen

Thank you both, but your solutions didn't work. After installing BroodROM via Odin my phone rebooted in SmoothieICS just like nothing happened. Also a new recovery can't be installed, Tried with TWRP and CWM with no luck :crying:

That's strange. How is it possible to show up again after deleting and formatting the partition completely.. Are you sure you formatted the data and system in mounts and storage menu of cwm recovery.?
Anyway, Remove your external sd card, and try all the methods again..

- removed the external sd card
- rebooted in recovery
- format system and data
- installed CWM 5.5.0.4
- rebooted in recovery
The recovery version installed is still the 6.0.1.0!!!!
It is like the internal SD card can't be written any more.
One thing I maybe didn't mention is that if I delete a file in the internal SD card and the reboot, the file is still there. it is not deleted.
This is really frustrating.

That's strange and weird. Haven't heard about such a problem before. I will look in to it and will reply you if i get something..

I recognize those symptoms. The i/o of the sdcard is defect.
What happens is that when you want to format random 0 and 1 are being written to remove the data on the card. If your card is broken and cant be written to you will be unable to format or flash anything. And thus the data on the card remains.

Does this mean that the only way to solve the issue is to replace the internal SD card?

Same Issue, but with SGS GT-I9000
I have pretty much the same problem!
Ive been reading a lot and it really seems to be a problem of the internal SD card!
I tried many times to delete all the files on the internal SD card via USB and via Recovery Mode, installed different OS ...nothing worked and most of my apps crash the whole time, so force close to all!
Im now about to decide to use my external SD as internal!
What do you say?

[Q] Multiple /sdcard directories on ARHD 12.1

Hi Everyone,
I recently did a clean install of ARHD 12.1 on my rooted HTC One UL then did a couple of dirty reinstall (2~3) to change the software pack.
However, I realised there are 3 different /sdcard directories in the system.
First one is /sdcard. Second is /sdcard/legacy. Third and current is /sdcard/0.
Can anyone tell me why did was the /sdcard duplicated?
Is it because of the dirty install?

is all of your previous data in /sdcard/0?
It's because of android 4.2.2 you should when switching 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 backup sd -> install rom -> wipe sd before boot -> boot -> put files back

Right! That makes sense! My old data is in /sdcard while the new ROM uses /sdcard/0.
Would I be able to merge them if I wipe /data, /sdcard and do a clean install of ARHD 12.2?

I did the same thing as you unfortunately. It was hell to undo it.
What I did was put all the stuff in /sdcard, and then manually delete /sdcard/0 using adb. I can't remember the exact commands anymore, I googled ages for them.
I think easiest (but requires patience) option would be to move all the important data to your computer, then clean installl ARHD, and then wiping everything from sd using CWM or TWRP.
Or you could do it like me, google it for hell a long time

Unable to update CM13

Hello guys, i was trying to update my CM 13 today and it didn't work. It made the download but once in the recovery, nothing happened :S i'm trying to understand why and i hope some of you know of this.
By the way, my TWRP version is the 2.8.7.0 if it helps..

ugh...Can't really understand what happened
You installed via OTA/cm updater? meaning you downloaded with your phone
Just download the zip directly and flash it with twrp
You'll also need to re-flash gapps unless you're using TWRP 3.0.0

Make sure that you have not installed any additional mods which alters system partition (kernels, soundmods etc.) If not, easiest solution would be to dirtyflash new one or clean install.

Same problem here.
405. CM13. TWRP 3.0.0. Merged SD card with internal storage.
In Recovery I can see folder structure but no files. I know its because of SD-encryption but I hoped I could at least see files in internal storage to update. Hope there's a solution soon. Does anyone have a workaround?

Filesystem of sdcard mount point
What is your /sdcard mount point filesystem? Mine is 'auto' (Maybe that might be causing the problem?) , and you can check by going into TWRP -> Wipe -> sdcard -> Repair or Change File System

Thank you for your answer. I checked that quickly, but couldn't find the option 'repair or change filesystem' without actually wiping the storage... I'll check again later if there's more time.

I found and changed the option from exFAT to ext4. All folders on the SD were lost in TWRP. Changed back to exFAT: couldn't see them either..

When using adopted storage (i.e. formatting external SD and using it as internal storage), then /sdcard in Android becomes /emmc in TWRP. At least it's what I see here using TWRP 3.0.0 Dark Blue.
From what I've looked, all internal storage is used only for app and app data once I started using adopted storage, so the only way I can think of using internal storage in TWRP to flash anything is either sideloading or using MTP in TWRP.

I managed updating through sideload.
1. Connect your phone to your computer via USB
2. Activate sideload in TWRP (advanced)
3. In platform-tools folder press Shift+right click to open commandline
4. If your device is connected properly ('adb devices') you can sideload zips (in platformfolder) via the command 'adb sideload filename.zip'
5. Restart device. Note: It took a few minutes for all apps to appear in the appdrawer again.
Thank you all for your help! I will looks after the folder emmc, but as I see no files, just folders anywhere, I am not that hopeful. But at least it works now

What did you wipe prior to your sideload? I want to do a wipe and fresh install of gapps and cm13, but I am afraid I could soft brick my phone.

I chose both. Dalvik and the other option ( I believe cache). No issues.

Mine gets stuck at "detected filesystem ext4 for /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system" then it just reboots to TWRP again. Sideload says "
serving: 'cm-13.0-20160322-NIGHTLY-w7.zip' (~0%) * failed to read command: No error". Did you wipe system before you sideloaded?

I did not wipe anything beforehand.
