Hi guys,
I am new to posting here but have read alot this afternoon! However I am still stuck. I have an i9000 running a custom 4.03 and I want to install slimbean 4.22. I have read and read but cannot find the answer to my problem. Actually I probably have I just don't know it and my brain is glazing over
My details are below are below.
Model number: GT-I9000
Android version: 4.03
Baseband version: I9000XXJVU
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-NEO-3.0-TeamlCSSGS-257174-g197c9a1-dirty
Build number: GT-I9000-user 4.0.3 IML74k eng. onecosmic.20120204.223407 test-keys
CWM version: 5.5.0.4
I tried to install slimbean 4.2.2 v6 Official using the instructions in the following link
dub dub dub .ibtimes.co.uk/articles/465712/20130508/galaxy-s-i9000-android422-jellybean-slimbean-build5.htm
I keep getting the status 7 error and I believe I need to update the kernel before I can flash to 4.2.2? Is that right?
Would be super grateful if someone could point me at what I need to do!
Thanks in advance!

Glad it worked for you ...
Re-flash the zip 2 or 3 times without leaving recovery, it will auto reboot, change some of the partition layout and continue installation by itself.
For future info for people having same issue :highfive:

Do a clean install... go to cwm, wipe data and cache, format system from "mounts and storage", wipe dalvik cache in "advanced", install rom, wipe data and cache again, and reboot.

Tbh, I have absolutely no idea what might be cause of your problem... I personally never had such problems, when something didn't work I was just doing clean install and that was it, I was changing roms like my underwear
Why i'm the only one who got some troubles? I'il go back to my stock rom gingerbread 2.3.6 and try again nobody could help me? Maybe i need to wait more time to let my phone boot.

Have performed a full wipe in ICS? Try flashing a stock gb Firmware with odin and do a full wipe, then re root and flash the ROM.
Or if You still have CWM You can flash abyss kernel, reboot recovery and then re flash the ROM.

abyss kernel is GB, for u to stay safe during the wipe. The usual procedure is to flash abyss from CWM, reboot recovery (not the device), do a full wipe and then immdiately flash a custom rom.
CM9 has a safe kernel as is compiled from source and not from Samsung kernel release as some other custom roms do....just read the dev's threads. Take into consideration that not all custom kernel works with custom roms. Make sure that u choose matching pairs!...:good:
You can safely format data in cwm on cm9 kernel. However I suggest that you should reflash PA 0.5

Second question......Do I need to go back to stock gingerbread before flashing 4.0.4 - ICS - AoCP CP 2.1 - The Collective or can I flash over top after wiping davlik and cache , partitions???
Im running Mosiac XI now
U should be able to just follow the install instructions in the OP of the ICS 4.0.4 AoCP CP 2.1 Rom and be good to go. (This is an excellent ICS Rom by the Collective, btw.)
...U could flash back to Stock KK4 if u want the i897 GB Bootloaders...since u may have i9000 GB Bootloaders being on Mosaic IX ?? Up to u though.

Ok , flash failed....Status 7 error. Any Ideas???
^
Not sure why u got that error. No one has reported that in the AoCP CP 2.1 ICS 4.0.4 thread.
From reading around, it has something to do with the updater script etc.
Anyway, i suggest u do two things. Get into the cwm recovery u have now and then mount usb and copy a fresh download of the Rom to ur phone. Then copy this kernel.zip that is just the kernel from CP 2.1 release...posted here--- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30523384 . Install that kernel through ur current cwm 1st. Then reboot to that cwm recovery and flash the rom again. Be sure to do the wipes etc. that r posted in that Roms OP.
And be sure to eject ur phone from the pc the correct way...see this post... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29998391.
edit: search "status 7 error" in the Search This Forum tab of this Q & A Forum...search Show Posts. There u will find a lot of helpful info.

Ok, downloaded the new kernel and redid the wipes and flashed the rom again , then reflashed just for good measure. Rebooted and it went right back to revovery and does every time I rebooted. Tried flashing back to Mosaic but that flash failed Staus 0 message. So after playing with it a while I decided to flash another Rom. Again , did all the wipes and flashed HellyBean ....Rebooted right back to recovery again , I'm at a loss...Anyone??? And yes I thought about using odin and going back to stock but Odin won't recognize my phone...Windows does , ADB does but not Odin
When initially going to an ICS Rom from a Stock Rom u will have to flash it twice. First from the cwm that u had from where u started and then second from the next cwm recovery that loads. ---- So when the recovery boots back, just select to install the Rom again. ---- It should load the Rom on that second install.

Were you able to update the kernel?
After updating kernel is the phone working fast and normal? Is the dialer lag gone?
What is your current kernel then?
and

You also have to disable signature verification in recovery mode, That should do the trick.

If you flashed the kernel, the lags won't magically disappear but it is considerably reduced because the lags in dialer/camera/contacts are samsung's fault.
