Anyone have a problem with their amazon app icons disappearing from their apps? I rebooted and several are gone. I can launch them by going through the amazon app, but it's a pain in the butt.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I always seem to lose an amazon app every time I flash a rom/update a rom. Never fails, usually the last one that I installed. Whether I TiBU'd days before flashing or immediately before.
But as far as the icon's disappearing, not having that issue.
You could always try to un/reinstall the apps... the apks should still be on your phone.... I haven't heard much about the icon disappearing, are they also gone from the app drawer?
As for jonnie... this may sound asinine but are you sure you ran TB after the lastest install and before the flash? That may be why the last app installed would be gone
Good Luck

The market does the same thing with all apps that you've purchased. And technically you're purchasing everything from the amazon app store.

+1 Be it free or paid, in Amazon market, everything is considered purchased.
So...lets say I got the app when it was free. If I uninstall it...then decide I want it later, when its not free, do I pay or does amazon know I got it when it was free?

I got talking cat when it was free. Then uninstalled. Now its $0.99 in amazon. But for me, I can still find it under "my apps" for free.
Once purchased is purchased, u'd become immune to future price changes.

Yes they still offer it for no cost. Once purchased, free or not, Its yours for good. It is your amazon account that records it.

OK I think I have figured it out... or at least a theory. I was in Korea at the time when it happened. I'm now back in the USA and after a reboot, they are back again. It's got to have something to do with location.

I think you figured it out. I know right after I flashed a custom rom, my amazon mp3 app started showing that I was in EU not US because the local had been changed so I couldn't buy mp3's till I fixed it. Media laws prevent me from using EU mp3 app.

I found that a couple of my apps from amazon were on the SD card. When I rebooted, the icons were not on the home page. After moving them to the phones memory, no more probs. Give it a try!
All mine are already there, so that rules that out.

Long story short. It's very big in Europe and it's finally in the U.S. because they have to deal with record labels and things like that. You get to stream music from them, and it's pretty much amazing. Also allows syncing to your Android device.

shame you cant stream on the phone with free version.
torrents + google music > paying for spotify premium
Anyone have luck with caching for offline play with 4g. I can stream fine with 4g but it wont download for offline play when I select a playlist in the offline playlist editor. Works fine over 3g but is uselessly slow doing that.

I disagree. With Spotify you have nearly any album at your disposal. Can cache up to like 3,333 songs for offline play. For me this beats the hell out of wasting disc space maintaining a collection and in turn actually making the artists some money. I canceled my Slacker account. They had on demand too but their cache process sucked, the app sucked, and the library smaller. The Spotify app and service blows it away. $10 a month is nothing if you listen to a lot of music. I've had it 3 days now and have already listened to about 20 different albums straight through. Pays for itself even if you listen to only 1 album a month.

Hi does anyone know how to play back a movie rental from the new android market..slow day at work and was pretty hyped to try the movies out until I got the unable to play back on rooted devices message..
Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
You can't. Google can't allow rooted devices use their renting services on the off chance someone devs an app that can save it indefinitely to your phone. Kinda sucks, specially when they don't tell you till after u rent it, but I understand the licencing issues that they might have had with their providers.
Thank you
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Ya I had to try it also when it first came out. So I rented it and paid for it but couldn't watch it on my phone. So I opened up the marketplace on the PC at work, signed in, and was able to watch the movie at work via the PC. So at least I watched it and didn't just get screwed out of my money. Ya I thought it was gonna work too, it SHOULD say it wont play on rooted phones BEFORE you pay for it. But oh well. So watch it on your PC since you already paid for it.

I'm trying to find the best way to download music that I can sync to my ipod touch where I can pay a monthly fee. Itunes is way too expensive for me but I would like to do this a nonpiracy way. Meaning no torrents or anything that is obviously illegal (Free). What do you guys recommend?
How about Spotify or something like that? I know it's a streaming service but if you get Premium you'll be able to use it on your iPod/iOS/Android device. You can download and save 3333 songs directly on your device for offline listening. It's $9.99 a month.

I do not have Spotify Premium, but i use it on my computer. I think you'll get one week trial when you download the Spotify app. You can also download the Windows/Mac/Linux app and take it for a spin for free. You'll get 10 hours of free listening per week on your computer, but you won't be able to listen to music on your device unless you upgrade to Premium.

Do you know of a program for windows to make the audio output louder? I remember I did something on my old laptop that made a huge difference in volume but I can't remember now and my volume isn't that loud at max. It might be that I have gotten deffer over the years lol
Download the free trial of Sony Acid. Many, many, features to create burn and remix.
Increasing volume level would be elementary. Learning the software won't, but it's not that difficult.
Hmm, not sure about that one. I'm using Realtek, but i guess it'll only work with some audio cards or whatever. Search for it on your computer and check if you got it. If not i guess you can find something else on google.

Spotify is fantastic. I've been using it ever since it launched, and it's been extremely worth it. At least for me.
Some people like Rdio more, so check that out. It's the same price, but the app UI is better.

I like the fact that Rdio has a family plan so I can include my gf in there. Can I put the music on ipod though? All I see is that you can take it with you on the phone but I am guessing that's through the app and the apps for Spotify and Rdio have crappy ratings.
If it says "Offline listening" or something about "offline" then it'll store the songs locally. In other words it will download them to your iPod and you won't need a connection to listen to your music.
The Spotify app itself is outdated, but according to Spotify they're working on an update.
Have you tried Napster? If you have unlimited data you can stream and I'm pretty sure you can also download the songs. Monthly charge.

Napster is now Rhapsody but I believe they are only streaming music and you can't actually export the mp3s to your ipod.
Rhapsody will let you have the songs on your device so that you don't have to stream all the time. I'm guessing it has to establish a connection at certain points so that it can disable the music if your subscription ends, but you don't have to constantly stream it.
I can cancel at any time right?

And IMO offline storage is more useful, especially on a Wifi-only device, but also for anyone else with a limited data plan on their phone or data connection capable tablet. Also, pretty sure a $9 16GB USB stick is more cost effective than pretty much any 16GB cloud storage option.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is actually a thread over in the Themes and Apps section that the developer made. He is really open to input. I like the app, as I don't have to root to use a flash drive with videos saved on it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well, isn't that a kick in the teeth, because I just rooted last night simply to use USB OTG. At first I kind of felt "meh" over the read only factor, but then I got to thinking, am I really going to need to transfer from tablet to external media? I'd much rather transfer from external media to tablet, do what I need to do with watching whatever content I may have, then simply delete it off the tablet... no reason to transfer it back when it's the same darn file. Some people may have uses for having a 2 way setup, but I'm sure this will fit the bill for a lot of people. I do find it a considerable bummer that ext* file systems aren't supported, but meh.
Thank you thank you thank you!

i dont understand the bickering of cloud data. it is nice but i have 20 hours of plane flights coming up. cloud data will not be a very good solution for me compared to plugging a hard drive into my tablet.
Being a non-root user, this is great news for me. I always used splashtop to watch my videos directly from my computer, though it gave me no trouble, I would much rather have the movie with me.
Can't wait till the developer puts it back up.
What is the name of the app? Can anyone share the APK?
Downloaded Nexus Media Importer yesterday. It works as needed on my GNex, Nexus 7 and Xoom. No root necessary. Amazing! I'd pay for this app in a heartbeat! Sorry have no place to upload it.
