Indeed, we found a lot of activity among-est the users regarding MIUI on their beloved Nexus 4. From the official release to ports and mods, everything is mostly up for download so that everyone can relish this more-than-marvelous ROM. But there is still something that might trouble many of us here, as so it is troubling me too, which is; a lot of threads, titling differently but yet discussing the same. And so I have put forth this thread, to solve the problem.
Here at this thread, users can discuss or question anything and everything about this ROM. Post feedback and reviews, which are surely welcome.
Kindly note that, this is a unified thread for all the MIUI ROMs, be it official or ports. If you want to discuss or ask something, please put on which ROM you are operating on, so that others might not get confused.

Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik-Cache
Flash ROM
Reboot the device
Flash GApps
Final Reboot
Instructions by me can also be found here.
NOTE: As advised by MIUI, do not flash GApps and ROM back-to-back, it will cause Home button to be nonfunctional. But I did a back-to-back flash, yet didn't experience this bug. This is my way, you're still advised to stick to the specified note.
Kindly, support the poll with answering "Yes" if you want this thread to be sticked. F.A.Q about the same shall also be updated as this thread will be used on :victory:

Thanks for clearly outlining the differences between the three ROMs.
I've been so confused...

Thanks for this thread it is really helpful

Nice. I wasn't sure where to discuss this ROM, there are thousand threads. I posted in one already, but I'll bring my post here so we can talk about it:
Just flashed MIUI two nights ago and it's actually pretty cool. Was using the new PA with HALO))) which was pretty dang cool, but I might stick with MIUI for a bit. I like how smooth it is, plus I like how minimalistic it is. it just seems....nice. Everything just makes sense where it is located. Plus, I like the lighter color of the UI in general.
Don't get me wrong, PA is probably my favorite ROM, but MIUI is the first one that I've flashed in a while that I feel could compete, in terms of ROM-favorite-ness (?), with PA and stock. Time will tell I guess.
I'm really looking forward to battery life. I thought the ROM didn't make much of a difference in battery life, but so far it seems like MIUI will give me quite a bit of time on battery. Again, just flashed it two nights ago so I'll need a few days to see.

MIUI-3.6.15
Must be the one by Soul_Raider. I remember I had to manually flash GApps, plus I remember something about it being based on the Galaxy Nexus version. The thread I got the link from has been edited with just links to the different threads, much like this one.

New! Miui Official is looking for porters! If anyone has porting experience, please apply - http://en.miui.com/thread-4179-1-1.html

Miui by Soul_Raider release an update!

I was trying to decide which one to flash... any suggestions? I read Soul_Raider one is the most "bug free" but it is not as up-to-date as Datsun, which however has some bugs.
I'm undecided between Soul_Raider's and the (semi)official one from MIUIandroid... anyone tested the MIUIandroid one? Does it work well?

Hello, I love MIUI, but the only thing which prevents me from using it on my i9500 is that the android version is too old, 4.2.2 is old when compared to CM11 4.4.2.
So I am wondering when would you update the ROM's base to 4.4.2?
Regards.

Team Asylum CM10.2 Nightlies - Slim, Fast and Black Rom

Asylum CM Rom started its life on Samsung Galaxy Note a good while ago. Now it has matured to a CM10.2 Mako edition.
This Rom is small, fast, battery friendly, blacked-out and smooth. This Asylum edition is about 45Mbs lighter than the official CM10.2.

Performance tweaks
UI tweaks
Ad blocking hosts
Excellent battery life
Speed and smoothness
Nova as default launcher
CM9-10 theming compatibility
The Rom contains stock CM10.2 kernel

How often will the Rom be updated?
Every couple of days. That way it will always contain the latest CM10.2 features.
How do I flash it?
If flashing for the first time and coming from a Rom other than CM10.2
1. Copy GApps and Asylum CM10.2 Zips to your SDCard
2. Boot into Recovery
3. Wipe data and dalvik cache
4. Flash Asylum CM10.2 zip from SDCard
5. Flash GApps zip from SDCard
6. Reboot
If coming from Asylum or CM10.2:
1. Copy Asylum CM10.2 Zip to your SDCard
2. Boot into Recovery
3. Flash Asylum CM10.2 zip from SDCard
4. Reboot
There's no need to reflash Gapps when flashing from the previous Asylum iteration.

Yes, you need to change the wallpaper, and even it seems like the wallpaper is the same, reboot, and it will work. One-time procedure. Annoying, but need to figure out, how this can be solved.

Yes, everytime i flashed the nightly it used to change the wallpaper as the default one for the Rom was different, however since having the D4 it has kept the same wallpaper from the first version I flashed. Where is the wallpaper located in the ROM? framework-res.apk?

Introduction!
Hello everyone, this is my first rom and all i can say now is that i want to make a rom based on Beautiful Design. We have a lot of roms but it's always the same thing, stock or AOSP and this is not good. We have MIUI but it's not 4.2.2 and is very buged and have only english or chinese language. We have a theme engine on AOPS but it's just for system, not app, so i decided to make my own rom and it's called...Luna, a rom based on design, i'm actually theming all system and apps inside to my perspective of clean design, so i hope people enjoy. Expect Week builds but don't ask about when i will release cuz i'm not a big developer, i'm here to learn, i'm a pro designer not an developer as i said. I want to make a new ROM CATEGORY, based on design, based on your opinion, BE SOCIAL!

Thanks pal, i'm actually theming all apks, i know it's not much now but i think i included nice features for the first release XD, so i'm progressing, so expect more things coming in the end of july 2.
installed this and so far so good, No problems. No lags which is something I have found to happen on some CM based roms. Battery seems quite good so far but will give it a couple of charge cycles before I confirm how good it is
only query I have is do you know on the camera if there is a way to save your pictures to the external sd rather than internal as I cannot find that setting.
very nice ! I'll try it right now ! but the link is off ?!

Why do you have to use superwipe, isn't just "clean to install a new ROM" in Philz recovery enough like in everyone else's ROMs?
And are the Gapps posted here themed or just like the others, because I'd rather flash my own light gapps but I don't want to loose anything that you've done

As i said, i begin theming but it's not released, this is like others from Cyanogemod and about Super-Wipe script, if you are an advance user you can wipe in your way, i just trying to help people newbie and preventing problems that people with super-wipe don't have. You know, Wipe everything and you will not get error!

I'm not a pro developer XD, BUT i'm here to learn, i will read about linaro and i will see what it is but i'm sure that i won't add undervolt or overclock, you can do this taping 7 times on build number, developer menu appears as well as overclock and performance menu, but i want to say that my rom is for newbie people, that drive crazy when the rom have a lot of options and settings and they don't know what to do. I want to make things simple and beautiful
As much as i know about Linaro, it is ARM optimization? I will learn more about and see what i can do

[GUIDE/INFO] Which ROM is the best for my needs?

I see a lot of threads created by users with one question:
What is the BEST ROM for the Sony Xperia SP?
These kind of threads are not allowed here on XDA so I almost instantly report them
Well to give a straight answer to the question:
NONE!!!
Ofcourse you want to know Why?
~ Well lets start with the very beginning shall we?
There are a lot of diffrent custom ROMS. I know of the following:
No doubt there are more but I dont want a list that is miles long
CyanogenMod
AOSP (Android Open Source Project)
AOKP
Panandroid
MIUI
Omni ROM
Crystal PA
Carbon ROM
And ofcourse we have ROMS that are Stock Based.
To define Stock Based: Stock based are ROMS made from the firmware that has been released for any phone.
Below you see a picture with the Plain Stock Android Look and Sony UI:

This is one of the major diffences between the Plain Stock Android (from Google) and the Plain Stock from Sony. Ofcourse this is not the only diffrence. ROMS like CyanogenMOD, AOKP, AOSP, Omni and Panandroid do have the looks of Plain Android from Google.
As you may know by now Sony has his own Skin (duh!).. This skin is a layer on top of the Plain Android build from Google and includes:
Diffrent looks
Other App drawer
Other Homescreen layout
Other phone, conctact and messaging apps
Themed settings app
Themed Statusbar
Sony is the only brand that has his own theme engine!! Other brands like HTC, LG and Samsung have their own device/brand specific things
~ Some other layers on top of Android:
Samsung Touchwiz (Galaxy S4) against Sony UI:
HTC Sense 6 (From the M8) agains Sony UI from the KitKat update or Z2:
The above pictures only shows the diffrence between all the looks of the homescreen.. These diffrence are also found in:
App Drawer
Statusbar and notification area
Settings
On Screen buttons (only if the phone has them)
Apps
~ Lets get back to the Custom ROM talk shall we?
The main issue with most users is the performance of all the ROMS.. Plain Stock ROM released by Sony should be stable for daily use. This is not always the case and Sony is not the only brand that has issues with either updates, or their software.. Let me recall a few things:
Huawei Acend P6: 1 big bug. Wifi does not reconnect automaticly.. Wifi needs to be turned off and on again for connection
Samsung Galaxy S2: Update from GingerBread to Ice Cream Sandwich had battery drain issues
HTC One X: Hardware issues; poor wifi signal
Samsun Galaxy S3: No KitKat due to ammount of bloatware from Samsung
Samsun Galaxy Advance: Major lag since Jelly Bean update
So we are not allone when it comes to software or in some cases hardware. :victory:
Back to performance....
We all know that hardware plays a big part in terms of performance. Our Sony Xperia SP has good hardware for a mid end device.
Our hardware in short:
Snapdragon Dual Core running 1.7 Ghz
Adreno 320
1 GB RAM
All the ROMS will be running just fine on our device.. Our hardware is good enough to run it without issues..
We only need to remember a few words:
Testing, Alpha, Beta, Stable, WIP
Testing: Build is done but still in testing.. Things could be removed, added or fixed in a later build
Alpha: Build works proper but there are some bugs that keep the ROM from being a daily driver
Beta: Build is working enough for a daily driver but there are still some bugs
Stable:Build is stable enough for daily use. All the major issues and bugs are fixed and gone but it is possible you encounter one or two.
WIP:Work In Progress. ROM is build but far from stable and the work is in progress
Almost all the ROMS for our device are either in Beta or in Stable status. Which means that all the ROMS are working proper enough for daily use!
Thanks to all the hard working developers!! Thanks guys
But lets stop here for a second.. Not all the ROMs have the same feeling or gaming performance (as stated by some users) as stock ROM... Why is that...
This is an question I just dont know how to answer. All the ROMS are using other sources from other developers ( or development teams) so it is possible that a bug or optimatisation is missed. Just keep reporting bugs an issues to the developer and someday it will be fixed
So before I end this massive post I need you to do a small check list:
I want Root? (if Yes go to 3 if no go to 2)
Dont change anything
Root the device and go to 4
I want a custom ROM? If yes go to 6 if no go to 5
Install a pre rooted Stock ROM (See Android Development)
I am able to unlock my bootloader (Yes I can but I dont want to; go to 7, No I cant; go to 7, Yes i will unlock it; go to 8)
Install any custom ROM for Locked Bootloaders (Yes you can choose CyanogenMod for LB Look in the Original Android Development Section)
Unlock the bootloader and install any custom ROM you want!
How do I know which custom ROM suits my needs?
Answer:
BACK UP AND TRY OUT!!
You need to determine the following things for yourself:
Do I want the latest Android version?
Do I want to have Plain Android?
Do I want the SonyUI?
Am I willing to test things out?
Please remember some of the development rules:
Do not ask for ETA
Do not post issues without proper documentary like logcat, dmsg etc
Do not spam the development thread for requests
Be nice to each other
Be nice to the developer because he or she has worked hard on their rom
Moderator request : Make this a sticky thread...
Finally someone said it with big letters..Thank you @mrjraider !
That would be the third or fourth thread of me that is a stickey

Also I will try to update this thread from time to time

None : they all have little problems but these are different for each ROM. Again a problem could make one user consider the ROM unstable but not another user depending on their usage.

I recently bought an S5, and you know what. I love my Galaxy Grand still, and with these Lollipop releasesm Wow. Only waiting for a Wakelock Blocker, for after KitKat, these firmwares are so power hungry. Then again, its end is near, for when Galaxy Grand 3 is available, I need LTE.

Thanks for a good ROM. I always like the slim roms. Initial lollipop build, my experience : mobile data wont work, some random reboots, cannot sync google account(this one i am not sure, may be i did something wrong, gapps package may be). The rom is awesom. This is just a initial release, waiting eagerly for builds with issues fixed as much as possible. Devs take a bow :good:

Hi @xenon92,
I am one of the slimrom follower. Really looking into your build. But as I need to use my device as daily driver, in on blisspop now. But still keeping my hope on your slim build to get more stable, at least for daily use.
And I'm not gonna ask for any ETA's as all aware of the rule, but it's been a while since your last post here. So, I just wanna know, are we still building this rom? If we are, I'm happy to lend any help in my free time, if possible. I'm no dev, jut like to read a lot about android and "deving", just don't have right hardware to do so.
So, any help in need, let me know.
Good day.

This ROM is based on CM12, so you can expect the same behavior. I remember there was a discussion about sound distortion and camera issues in CM11/CM12, NostromoPop and LiquidSmooth threads already. Check the threads, there were some suggestions like using M9 camera port, don't use equalizer or volume at max, etc. I can't say anything about sound distortion it appears to be fine for me and I never used this phone with stock Sense ROM, so there is nothing to compare for me (got the phone, found manufacturer ROM ugly and bloated, rooted and installed CM... ). I noticed CM12 camera preview is a bit laggy when moving the phone too fast, but I never observed any force close or phone becoming unresponsive with the camera.
"Phone hanged 2 times while using the camera" - This statement is not helping me at all...
Try to be a bit more specific. Please provide information that I could actually look into the issue... When you are facing problems I need details, feel free to to report and include a logcat if possible...

I installed this ROM. I really like it. But i have some problems:
-when i enter to "mobile networks" (I do not know how to correct the English, i mean 3rd position in settings), i have error, like "com.android.phone"
-no full russian localization in CarbonROM Fibers
also, i can not enter to my HTC-account, when i installed Sense. But this ROM is really fast and cool, thx.

Привет. Мой русский язык очень бедный
Better continue in English...
Thank you for your feedback.
Confirmed - mobile network settings is force closing. Looking into the issue, don't know how to fix this yet.
German localization is incomplete in Carbon Fibers settings as well, i guess we have to live with that...
ROM is using CM12 base, unmodified Sense apps are supposed to be not working. There are some ported Sense apps out there, you might wanna try those: http://www.droidviews.com/install-htc-blinkfeed-launcher-sense-6-and-7/ Don't know if they would work though...

:crying: as mentioned before - please provide details...
What themes are you using? What exact issues are you facing? Please provide logcat if possible (should be possible in most of the cases...). I tested 5 different themes and they are all working fine (see screenshots). Most likely this is not an issue with the ROM.
I clearly recommend clean install, dirty flash might work as it worked for me, but I never confirmed it will work for you...
I also don't understand your question about backup without further details. Yes there is a really nice backup solution called Nandroid, available in every custom recovery...
Seriously, how am I supposed to help you with "problem descriptions" like this?
