Yes I am having the same issue, don't know what is wrong

I guess stamina mode is interfering with Facebook. Try excluding all Facebook related apps in stamina mode.

In my case I have never used stamina mode, and the problem still exists

when you say notifications, do you mean the flashing led notification or the notification from the taskbar?

I've tried including, excluding in stamina mode, turning off stamina mode, clearing cache, redownloading. There's no notifications whatsoever

[Q] CM10.1 Questions...

Hi,
I tried posting this on the official build thread although I haven't enough posts to do so, anyway I was just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with the latest CM10.1 builds?
I'm having issues with not receiving push notifications for things such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & email accounts etc. Also there is issues when using SwiftKey (suggestions dissappear after reboot) battery saver application keeps crashing although the notification problems is the main query.
Also wondered if the wifi/mobile signal indicators are no longer blue? Mine have been grey since I updated to CM10.1.
Cheers
Chris
I am running latest nightly and have done so since about 15th Nov last year. No problems getting push notifications here. Maybe just double check that push settings are on?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've checked push settings in all the apps I mentioned and all notifications are on, still no joy. Also tried clearing app data and resigning in to each and that's not worked either.
Cheers,
Chris
I'm also having trouble with fb but I havnt investigated since I don't use it very much.
The wifi being gray is normal. Thats the way its ment to be. The SwiftKey problem I solved it by instslling SwiftKey flow beta. I don't know why these one works.

The reason the wifi indicator icon is grey is because youre not connected to googles server. Try logging in with google talk.
Oh and stop using battery saver.
Youre not getting push notifications because batsav is killing your background apps (bookface, and such...)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
All sorted out now cheers.
How did you solve this?
the wifi signal and the network signal are supposed to be blue, when they are grey there is no network, meaning problem with DNS or something.
thats in my case in every CM, AOKP, AOSP ROM i have tried.

handcent on the Xperia Z

Has anyone who has had handcent installed on their Z experienced that more often than not it keeps force closing? Is this more likely to be down to the app itself and not the device?
I have used handcent with all my other android phones and have never encountered this issue on such a regular basis.
Many thanks..
I use Handcent every day, and no FC at all, sorry

I don't have stamina mode on. More often than not it force closes when I go into handcent settings to make some adjustments and kicks me out.
Very frustrating, as I use no other messaging app but handcent.
I know it's a silly question but have you uninstalled & re-installed it? Any difference?
I use it without problem. Only app I have issues with is CoPilot - it does not like the screen resolution.
Go to application manager and clear cache. It may help

Excuse my ignorance, but where do I find application manager?
Maddoguk,
Yes, have uninstalled handcent twice but still the issue remains.

Is it application settings that I'm looking for as opposed to application manager, as I can't find that? If so, cache is greyed out so won't let me clear it

How to kill Media Server once and for all?

For the past week or so, my Media Server keeps acting up and I really couldn't find a way to stop it. I don't know if it's a corrupted file or aoo that's causing this issue.
I have deleted Google Currents and Google Drive. Turned off Google now. All I have syncing is contacts, app data and keep.
What could be causing this? I took out my SD card and formatted it, didn't seem to help, I have not inserted my SD card since.
Please help me stop my Media Server from eating my battery
Are you using sonys stock rom? If so its normal to have it running... But it shouldnt be a real battery hog.... Some apps use it if im not mistaken for other processes. How many screen on time are you getting?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I'm having 3 hours of screen on time and screen takes up 51%
Media Server takes up 20% and can sometime go up to 30+%
Battery at 41% at the time of measurement
I'm using RomAur 8.0 with doomkernel.
I had the same problem with media server, and yesterday I deleted the xperia facebook account in the settings. Today media server seems to be normal.
Maybe the facebook integration was causing this behavior!
...but maybe this was just a damn coincidence...
Sony Xperia ZL C6503, rooted, 4.2.2 Stock
I don't have Xperia Facebook account in my settings under "All"
if u go into settings to uninstall it, is there not a tick box to stop it running?
Nope, its an android process I think

Just try it....many people fixed the problem this way

Try freezing the Mirror Link Service, that works for me.
...Sent from Zed
I do not have Mirror Link Service in my all tabs, I think the dev removed all the bloatware
disable all haptic feedback (sounds and vibrations), copy your media to pc and delete form phone than copy back to phone. might not help but worth trying
Maybe you guys should read this http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...7-media-server-battery-drain-my-solution.html

For me it helped to put .nomedia files in all folders that weren't for pictures, music or videos.

I had my phone on full charge watched YouTube videos for awhile and I noticed mediaserver was consuming more battery than my screen, is that normal?
Edit: After using the phone for awhile, media server is still taking a big part of my battery
Install better battery stats or wakelock detector and post some screenshots.

I just tried to disable Stamina and it didn't work
I only have gravitybox, apex launcher and greenify. I use greenify to disable most of my apps, i believe it must free a lot of ram
Thank you anyway
Maybe something of that blocking the process that handle wallpaper.
To be honest, that is lot of stuf. And greenify didnt prove to be good for me.
Also, you have stamina mode which is a lot better then greenify.

but it happened before my phone is rooted
from the first time I thought that maybe there are a lot of apps on background, so I decided to root my phone and use greenify to freeze all of these apps, but now the result is not good at all

[Q] Android notification not working / not showing up in status bar(

I'm using 2014 Moto X on Verizon Wireless with latest Google Android 5.0, everything was working well and all of the sudden I noticed that I'm not getting all notifications as I use to anymore... for example, I'm not getting notifications when I get email to Gmail or text to Goolge Voice and etc. Rebooting my phone that did not solve anything(
Any ideas?

Not clear enough to provide an exact solution, but there are quite a bit of changes made to how the user is notified with lollipop; All, Priority and None modes. Use your vol up or down key on your homescreen and make sure you chose all, then give it a try!

Only these two steps monitor the notifications. If nothing is happening, try clearing cache from the recovery. If even that doesn't help, a factory reset will do the work.

Are you sure all your sync's are on and you aren't on battery saving mode? Clearing cache wouldn't really help your cause, but in any case once you get to the android guy, tap power+vol up button simultaneously for a second and let go, repeat until you get the menu; it is a bit finicky

any other suggestions other then doing factory reset??

Sending gmail to yourself is not a good test, especially with certain routers which have problems with loop back issues. Have someone else send you an email, outside your network.

I email myself plenty of times from other emails, problem is obviously in something else, definitely not in email sending part.

I did not turn any syncing off and battery mode isn't on...
after doing Factory reset, that solved that.. but unfortunately not for long as a little bit over a week later I came back to exactly same issue AGAIN(((
You could try installing a different launcher see if this somehow kick starts notifications. I use Nova Launcher, you can get an unread count plugin for it which tells you how many missing emails, text messages, what's app messages etc you have. You may not need to install that though just nova launcher, switch to that and then back to Google Now (if you prefer it) then that should hopefully give it a kick.
