[Q] no efs -> repair /rebuild ? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi !
I plan to buy a friend's note n7000, he uses it as an ipod touch because he has deleted "efs" folder with no backup.
The phone is unlocked, i wonder if t is possible to "make the phone work" again
For example by restoring an efs backup from another galaxy note with odin ?
His phone is unlocked by orange (french carrier) to all carrier...
I think the phone is with 2.3.6. but maybe 4.0
I've searched on xda, and other forums and some people managed to restore efs and edit "hex" in files to make the note work again, some other to repair using a .bak file (haven't got it), some other with "galaxy s unlock" from play store, and a shop in my town" can do it for 25€", and finally a guy from poland can take control of your PC to flash your phone for 10€ but all of these methods are not clear
So is it possible to repair this "efs thing" i don't know what else for free ? ( and i don't really care if this is not perfect, i just want to call/send texts) (and sorry for my english)

[Q] How to recover IMEI when no backup was done

Hi there,
I have a galaxy S I9000. The IMEI i have on my phone when i press *#06# is 004999010640000.
I have NO backup of the EFS folder. Sure.
However, I know the IMEI has it is written on the back on the phone.
How can i restore that?
i have to say that i tried downgrading using ODIN... phone is ok in download mode... I did a lot of research but no luck so far.
Thanks
Hello to recover your IMEI you have to flash a stock 2.3.6 ROM and then backup your EFS folder.
After installing new version, if the problem is persist then restor simply your EFS folder.
Hi Higgins91
Thanks for your answer. With all due respect, I dont think it is a correct solution as I tried it and it did not work.
However, maybe before reinstalling the Stock 2.3.6 i should have tottaly delete the EFS folder (the one with the wrong IMEI). Then the Stock "could" recreate the EFS with the correct IMEI on the phone... (thats only what I did read in another forum - But I have not tested).
Luckily I found my previous EFS backed up. (I thought i never did it, but i did 2 years ago ehheh).
Subject closed, even if there is no real bullet proff solution for that.
Thanks
theres athread in here somewhere about that sorry cant remember where read it about a year ago and if it wasnt here it was on darkyrom Q&A maybe

[Q] please help

me and my partner have the same phone from the same carrier,, I had the imei unknown issue for a while and I decided to backup my partners efs with efs pro and restore it to my phone,, now I have no 4g and it will stay on GPRS and EDGE for like a minute then stop working
,, is there any way to fix this,, I have tried nearly everything and I cant afford to send it in to get fixed
EFS are not interchangeable.
Restore your backed up EFS folder .
Try once flashing stock firmware .
Fails its a paid for service repair .
Use descriptive titles if you want them read .

Please I need your HELP...!

I'm still with my broken SGS3 mini (GT-i8190) using it only for computer. I cannot make any call or something like that, so the internal signal doesn't work.
My phone broke about a year ago (IMEI null, not generic; Serial Number modificated; unknown baseband). This happended when I tried to flash the thirth time the ENOX ROM, and a couple of days after the phone begun to run slower, and 4 hours after (during the same day) the phone have frozen and didn't boot anymore.
Then I tried to flash (stocks ROM, stocks ROM with root, CM, Carbon ROM, etc...) and I cannot regenerate or recover the IMEI/SN/Baseband.
I have not any box to try to fix my phone, and I cannot buy one (a lot of money for me just now).
I thought that if it possible a thing, I would like to test but I don't know if it's possible.
I was thinking in take a entire EFS folder from other device SGS3 mini (same model, no L/N) and try to edit the files that contains the IMEI information and this thinks with hexadecimal editor. It would be possible? Or it's stupid try to do this? I don't know... **** (sorry).

Yes your EFS is broken. EFS is a partition and not just a folder You can backup a EFS from a another s3 mini and restore it to your one but you will get signal problems example WiFi because same MAC address) and the other s3 mini too. You should know the IMEI number is NOT saved in EFS partition, the real IMEI is saved in a hidden partition so it means you didn't lose your IMEI. But your IMEI security key code (it's saved in /efs>imei) is gone and it means you will never get access to your IMEI number again.

Thanks for all...
Imei is probably stored in CSPSA partition which is mmcblk0p9. I can see my serialnr in there and referees to modemfs, but the rest is encrypted.
I started to look at this a bit closer today to see if I can find out how this all is put together.(efs/modemfs/CSPSA).

Question EFS folder

Hello, I need help to be able to recover my phone, apparently the EFS folder is corrupted and I do not have a mobile network, only Wi-Fi. If anyone can backup your EFS folder and share it so that I can restore my phone, I would be very grateful.
Order a new phone, copy EFS, return phone...
hahaha , I thought so, but it is a bit expensive, I bought the equipment on aliexpress and I live in Chile, South America
how you going to do that and we dont have unlocked bootloader and root and it will not work 100% because i did that with s6 couple years ago it will not work even if some one gives you his efs folder that contain his imei and device unique ids serials and that's not going to happen anyways...
i remember scrwing my galaxy s6 EFS folder it was a nightmare i begged all over internet not one one helped me so i end up going to repair shop and i got new certificat with octoplus box with 20bucks
all you need is find some one with repair shop who has octoplus box google this
OCTOPLUS FRP TOOL V.2.1.7 IS OUT! it will genarate new certificate for the device the network will work again but it will keep loose signal time to time thats whatshappend to my s6 and you will never get your original imei back again (repair it with octoplusbox and sell it)

Download the full OTA firmware for your device (ex. OTA for RMX3311 if originally your device was RMX3311) and the OnePlus Updater app. Install that app and after that install manually the OTA file you just downloaded. You will get you mobile data connection back.
