Where are my photo's - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have just rooted my One.
I backed up the entire SD Card and I have copied some things back (DCIM, Downloads, My music (apart from my Play store offline files).
I cannot locate many of the images I took with the phone prior to root. I can also not for the life of me figure out why so much space is consumed on my memory considering what I have on the device.
Regardless, I didnt know if there was some secret hiding place that things go to hide.
I had many of these photo's in their own folders within the Gallery, these are also unavailable.
I have since backed up my photo's to DropBox, and they all appear in there, so I am looking to sync my PC with my dropbox tonight then copy the photo's I want back to the phone, but firstly I need to know these files arent still hiding on my "sd card" before I go and further duplicate them.
Is there anyone out there who has gone through the same thing and has some pointers as to what to look for as I find the file structure within ES File Manager quite confusing with SD and 0/ with emulated partition that seems to be a dupliucate of SD Card etc etc.
Sorry, very noob question, however I have been rooting phones for ages, my last being the HTC OneXL and everything seemed to make so much more sense on that phone.
Any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Scott

Yes, the SD and 0/ folder is a duplication of your storage, so do not need that folder. You can delete any other stuff inside the media folder, though. If everything is already stored on your computer, how about you format the SD card and use adb to sideload a ROM? In other words, a clean, fresh install.

Help: Remove Apps + Format SD

Hi guys,
I am a noob at android and rooting.
However, I successfully rooted my N1 last night and flashed it with Cyanogen 5.0.5.3.
Everything worked well until I started using the camera. I took the photos and it stored in the gallery under "Camera".
However, when I mounted my SD card to my computer, there was no DCIM/Camera folder.
I unmounted, went back into the gallery and it was gone.
I ended up formatting my SD card as I didnt mind losing everything.
I had apps2sd checked. When I went to marketplace the apps already said "installed". I reinstalled/downloaded everything. The SD card is a mess now.
For example, twidroid folder went missing so no display pictures show up. I uninstalled/reinstalled it and then it worked, however after mounting it no twidroid folder was created, I unmounted and then twidroid display pictures were gone.
I formatted my SD card again now. Want to start fresh...
Now when I go to manage my applications I have things like
"android.tether"
"com.adobe.psmobile"
"come.android.googlesearch"
etc. I want all of this gone, want to start over and want my camera/gallery to start working again.
Sorry for the long post but any help is greatly appreciated!
Please let me know what I should do.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Update. Ok I formatted the SD card from settings. No longer have Apps2SD.
Now I just want to delete the applications from the application manager.
Things such as "android.tether" etc as mentioned above.
Is there any way I can use Apps2SD without it messed up the camera folders, etc?
Thanks.
I use apps2sd and the camera works correctly.
tether and googlesearch are system apps and you won't be able to remove them through the application manager, it has to be done through terminal or adb but why would you want to remove them?
It sounds like you might have messed up the partitions? how large is your sd card and how big did you make the ext2/3 partition and what fomat are you using ext2 or 3?

What to keep after rom upgrade?

Hi everyone.
I have a Google G1 and have recently upgraded to Cyanogen 6.0.0.
After the upgrade there are a lot of files left on the SD card and I would like to know which I need to keep and which I can get rid of?
The files are;
Android folder which contains another folder called data, which contains the following files; com.coolaris.media and com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget.news-content-cache
other folders are;
Clockworkmod
.android_secure
and in the download folder there are lots of .apk files all are downloadfile.apk from 1 to 14.
Do I need to keep any of these files on my sd card or can they be deleted after the installation?
Thank you for any help.

Click to collapse
I would just keep all of that on your SD card, since it doesn't take up that much space to begin with.
However, I had a bunch of those downloadfile.apk's in my download folder, I deleted all of them, and everything was okay. You can probably delete all of those and not have a problem.
Thank you very much for the help mattdrumz, very kind.

[Q] Lost most of my internal storage?

Today when trying to free up some space on my HTC One (S-OFF, rooted, latest FW, etc), with the phone connected to the computer I cut and pasted the 'storage' folder into a folder on my computer. After this, most of my internal storage folders were gone, most notably all my Camera pictures. I looked in the folder that was copied to the computer and these folders aren't present. I also tried to do an adb pull from the root directory and the missing files weren't there either.
Looking at my phone storage, it says i have 20GB used by 'Other', which gives me hope that these files are still somewhere on the device. I did a search in a few applications looking for jpg files or any lost files but didn't come up with anything.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any idea if these files are still somewhere on the device? I know it was a stupid thing to do and didn't have a cloud backup set
Could you see the photos before you cut and pasted? What you've described doesn't sound like it should have caused your photos to disappear, but an upgrade would.
On a 4.1 ROM, the sdcard points to /data/media. On a 4.2 and beyond ROM, the sdcard points to /data/media/0. I would have a look in /data/media.

[Q] Problems viewing CWM Backups on my PC and phone

Hey guys, I realise that I may not be on the correct forum for this and for that i apologise, however I am quite new to this website and don't know my way around.
Anyway, I have recently backed up my whole phone storage to SD card using CWM recovery as there was no option to backup to an internal device. I wanted to take the backup and move it to my computer but I have a HTC One m7 which has no SD card. This isn't normally a problem for me because all the files seem to show up on the internal storage when i look on my computer anyway however despite searching through all of the folders, I simply cant find. The backup is 5gb in total and I know that it has been made sucessfully because my available storage has decreased by 5GB but it simply can't be found. Even when i look at the file manager on my phone I can't see it. Even if I can't move it to my PC I atleast want to be able to delete it, will factory resetting the device remove root access aswell as everything else and will I have to start all over again to delete this hefty 5GB backup?

XT890 Data loss? HELP!!!!! PLease!

I can't believe this.
The same crap happened to me on a second XT890. I'm lost for words.
here is what happened.:
Got a phonecall, when I wanted to pick it up the phone would turn off saying not enough power, at 30 % !!???
Ok, so no big deal I thought,...turned it back on, had the same person calling me, everything was fine. Then i noticed the stored mms images would not load inside the conversations. Si turned the phone off and on again, mms images are loading again.
Got another phone call and my personal ringtone, gone, no longer there. Couldn't even switch it back even though the file, supposedly was there. Then I tried to play the file, google play music would not.
Next, all my images are gone, no longer folders of the camera and images and videos. Using quickoffice , that app says, no files on the internal sd card! WTF!?
Turning the phone off an on again, let me see the files on the card again, even let me play an audio file, going in and out of the folder, the files disappeared again.
So long story short. Everything seems to work except my files are gone and quickoffice and fileviewers won't find the files. When i put in an external sd card that works fine on other devices, it won't load the files, images, videos, only maybe 3 of 100!? What the hell.
This is the second time on a different phone but same model this has happened.
I can't afford to loose the images and recordings. are they gone? what has happened? I ran DR Fone recovery, and even that won't find the images i need,
Phone is rooted. And it's driving me nuts. Battery was replaced 6 months ago, everything was fine. Now that.
Please help, need my files, desperately.
What could have caused this? ? What is not working properly? Indexing? Gallery? Quickoffice?
Could be a corruption in the data
" corruption on your internal memory
" corruption on the system partition or dalvik
See if adb can find the files on your internal sdcard. With the command: adb shell ls /storage/sdcard0/[path to video/photo]
Thanks will try.!
In the meantime Root Browser shows the sd card as empty, and last time changed as 8/5/12 which was the build date of the phone.... :-/
Funky, When hooking up for adb and running a command the files and sd card became visible. So while visible I was able to safe all the files to external card. When restarting the phone the internal sd and files disappeared again. I cleared cache and dalvik and media storage, no effect. files remain hidden. Running sd maid it says system files are hidden. using es file explorer running showing hidden files i get a no permission response. same for sd card, says no permission. so something is blocking me. virus? i don't really use wlan or internet, wondering how to get everything working again. files and everything is there, but i have no access.
Still looks like a corruption somewhere. I should just safe all files that u need, backup data and do a full system restore and start over. With full I mean also a internal memory wipe.
Maybe there is a much better option, but I don't know any atm.
Still fiddling with it. Thought I just do a factory reset. Well didn't work.
Somehow before I did the reset the media store app was moved to sd card and a different apk was placed in system / app folder.
After the restart you guessed it, all data was gone as expected. Gallery and ringtones and video, and so on won't show. The media storage apk is in system/app folder, but it won't show under settings/apps/all.....
Not being an expert I think I messed this up by switching out the apks,.../
The one now in the system folder is: version 4.04-1351904261 but I need version 4.04-1344118159
Who can tell me where i can find one?
