Will AOIP solve flaky proximity sensor on gingerbread stock ROM? - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

Girlfriend's phone is rooted, but ROM is stock gingerbread. Her proximity sensor has been flaky since she first got the phone, often turning off the screen when the phone is away from her ear, but not always. On forums for other phones I have seen that similar proximity sensor issues were cured when the carrier pushed out a ROM update. So I'm wondering have others had proximity sensor issues with the stock ROM or the jocala rooted stock gingerbread ROM, and if so, were proximity sensor issues cured with flashing a new, custom ROM?
I have never had proximity sensor issues with my phone, when bone stock or when using all the various ROMs I have flashed. I sure am happy with AOIP. I will flash that on her phone if people think that might cure her proximity sensor issue. I just don't like to risk messing with somebody else's phone and potentially bricking it if there is not a pretty good chance of curing a problem by flashing a ROM. Please advise. Thanks, everybody.

WOW. This forum is really slowing down. Everybody must be migrating over to the Nexus 4. Any ideas on the proximity sensor and whether it is buggy because of the gb stock ROM? I guess I'll find out when I flash AOIP.

I have had no problem with the proximity sensor on aoip

Display orientation problem

Hello,
I am using cyanogen's builds and since 3.6.1 the screen orientation does not work well.
If I turn the phone horizontally the screen will change but then refuses to change back. The only way to get the screen back in normal orientation is to lock the screen and unlock.
I just wonder what the problem might be. Perhaps the sensors are broken?
It might just be some settings or build problems as well?
Any ideas?
sound like a sensor issues i have heard from a few guys here that the sensor goes bad on the g1's i myself *knock on wood* haven't had this problem if you have the insurance plan then you should bring it back due to hardware problems
and don't worry if you have the modded rom if your in America cause they would have to prove that the sensor broke due to the software flash which in impossible otherwise ota pushes would void the device to since they do the same thing. that's the law on warranties and extended warranties. you only void the warranty if you took it apart and broke the sensor or like other people have by bricking it but bricking is harder to prove since the device won't boot LOL
Try wiping...Or just flash to CM 3.6.3
The orientation issue affects me with any Cyanogen 3.6.x build. Wipe or not.
Any of the 3.4 seem to work fine for me, though.
Not sure if you have read Cyanogen's regularly updated first post with all official information...

A fix is posted there.
A nudge is as good as a wink to a blind bat!
Heh, guess I should read the entire posts instead of skimming.
Thanks NeoBlade.

[Q] Proximity sensor during calls

Hey all,
Has anyone observed erratic proximity sensor function during calls? I often find that it works for one toggle (i.e. putting phone to ear/wave hand), but subsequent toggles/calls do not trigger the screen to go off.
I have tried various stock ROMs (rooted), but no luck. I'm wondering if the issue is common on all stock builds, hence the question.
Any ideas?

I have the opposite issue. The screen does turn off during call, but not on until the other puts back

[SOLVED] [Q] (HELP) Permanently disable proximity sensor (tried all apps)

My Nexus 6 now goes off and doesnt come on during call I have to end the call to even see.
I just checked and it has been damaged. I have tried everything and finally thought is there a method by which i can disable it by Build prop or disabling drivers. I have tried all apps so i wanted a root level solution
Please devs help me out
FIX: Finally got the fix in benzo rom, in the call app there is an option to keep screen on during calls (only in newer builds from 25th may onwards). FInally fell in love with N6 all over again
This is very weird.
I have never noticed this kind of radio silence in any of the device threads, but on the most open phone of them all and google flagship was most surprising.
I just wanted to know any root kind of fix for priximity sensor, have googled and tried everything, just wanted some help from a dev

There's a proximity fix zip for this phone too, but I don't think it will help in your situation.

Proximity sensor doesn't work in call. Autobrightness sensor also glitch.

Currently using PixelExperience Plus ROM. Was using HavocOS before this. There were similar issues in both the roms.. The proximity sensor just won't work during calls. Phone needs a restart to fix this.. goes back to problematic in a short while..
The autobrightness sensor issue is less frustrating.. waking up the device the brightness gets stuck at about 50%. The slider does nothing.. locking the screen and waking up again solves it. Minor issue..
But.. does anyone have a fix?
Same problem here with latest oficial rom. Randomly screen goes black in a call although the phone is on a table.
Same problem here
Why do Xiaomi seem to have such a problem with proximity sensors?
The one on my Note 7 doesn't work properly and a google search reveals complaints about sensors on many models.
It's not as if they are rocket science any more.
Could this also be the reason when I receive a call the phone screen on some occasions didn't even light up and I have to double tap to see who's calling. I really hope it's something they can fix.
Did anyone get a fix? I still have this goddamn problem! Even with the latest evolution x rom or pixel experience rom (tried the latest version released like days back for both roms). This problem started right after I unlocked my bootloader and flashed a custom ROM and the problem is present in EVERY custom rom that I've tried. Please help me out with a fix as this is really annoying and the phone is practically useless. As soon as I make a call or get a call my display simply shuts down and doesn't switch on until 30 secs after the call ends. So my display is basically off for easy 2-3 minutes. Can't use my phone then. This sucks when I've dialled a wrong number or want to cut the call myself because I can't do any of that!

How does Approach to Peek work in LOS vs Stock

I figure I’ll ask because I have always wanted to know, and this is one of the things that keeps me switching back to stock from LOS.
On stock the approach seems much more sensitive and will trigger in instances where the proximity sensor is not even in play.
When on LOS it seems the only trigger is the proximity sensor.
Just wondering.
