This question has been asked all the way back to the WP7 days and has been duplicated on this forum.. This is NOT possible. Your only option is to just buy an Android phone.
The main key is unlock bootloader, until we found it, i think it's almost impossible. Just my opinion.

So you installed and counted ALL the apps from WP marketplace and decided the count is just too small?
Samsung just did it with a new convertible laptop/tablet named Ativ Q. Seems that they could run Android on a VM over Windows 8. You can even put an android app link on the windows 8 desktop. Search it on youtube.

You don't need to count apps. Try to find a Google plus app or a good app.net app. Not possible. You have to go with webapps.
I'm very disappointed with WP8. It feels like Microsoft has already given up the platform and only Nokia is keeping it alive.

I found a great app for google plus. It's called IE.
No Idea what app.net is.

Try to upload an image with internet explorer on any website.
App.net is an ad free social network.
Alas, you can always use other browsers, not IE.

There is no other browser, all browsers on wp8 use the same rendering engine.

I think many would agree that one of the compelling reasons to go down the WM8 Lumia route is the great selection of Nokia apps, especially Drive which I use alot on my 800. I am severely tempted to buck the Nokia trend and go with the Ativ-S or 8X and wondered what my navigation options are on those devices? So far, the only app I have seen that is close in comparison is Navigon, but I am unwilling to pay £72 when all other smartphones come with navigation software built in.

There are third party navigation apps.

Nokia Drive is on all windows 8 devices unlike 7 and 7.5. You won't have to use anything different.

Thanks! Doesn't this diminish one of Nokia's selling points? Do you have a source for this?

You will have those apps on any phone you use as long as you use the same Microsoft account that purchased them. On a new phone it will say "Buy", but after you click it, the marketplace recognizes that you've already purchased the apps and will allow you to download them.
Or just log in to windowsphone.com, look at your purchased list of apps and reinstall whatever you want from the browser. They'll be sent to your phone automatically.
One thing to be aware of though: it seems that 20 or so XBox Live Games have compatibility issues with WP8 and are therefore currently not available on WP8 if you look for them in the store. Some of the Devs are working on adapting their Games but as far as WPCentral found out not all of them.
But in general: yes, the purchases are tied to your Microsoft Account (Live ID) and will therefore be available on your new device as well.

Debating on going from my SGS3 to Nokia Lumia 920 but am worried about the microsoft market place.
Is there much choice available on the WP8 store?
Does anyone know if the game 'life is magic' will be on WP8 store (available on ios and droid but cannot see on WP8?
Can the lumia play most video formats or does WP8 still require all data to be pushed/converted via zune still?
If the lumia cannot play these is there an application available for WP8 that allows WP8 devices to use different formats/codecs?
As you may guess i have not used a WP7 or WP8 device before but am getting over my phobia of how ugly the UI is to me and want to try one.
This is the windows 8 section, not the windows phone 8 section. The 2 are not the same thing.
Crap it! Sorry thought i had put in the right place, i should have read it properly!!!

Enough with the drama, the thread was probably moved...
1) Unfortunately, it's near empty compared to iOS/android.
2) Only authors knows. Currently where are no news about WP8 port.
3) It supports mp4/wmv etc, you can download movie to phone and watch it. Third-party players can be installed for not-so-wildspread formats like .mkv
4) Yes, like "Yxplayer". it's commercial, but price is like 3-4$ .
5) My personal opinion - not a good idea. I have switched from Galaxy Note to Nokia 620 just to test new OS. Android/iOS are better right now.

Excellent, thanks for the honest response. Think i may hold off for either the new nokia with xenon flash or hold off still until ubuntu raises it's head.
I have a Note 2 as my main phone and 620 as a secondary. IMHO, the 620 works extremely well as a secondary phone. The 920 is simply too expensive for such a role. To be honest, the WP8 is simply too raw to be a main OS. Too many missing apps and fundamental OS features.

HTML5 works fine. Flash doesn't work any better than it does on iOS or Android (since the Android Flash version was discontinued years ago).
Some particular site you're trying to use? YouTube, for example, works fine if you use HTML5.

U would be suprised but i have better speeds results with laptop way than mobile app way!!

The version of Flash available for Android is very outdated and should not be used anymore; it's missing a bunch of security patches, among other things. If you have it installed, you should probably remove it.
On Windows Phone, I get the same speed running the SpeedTest app and using SpeedTest.Net on my laptop tethered through the phone. Sounds more like a problem with the Android app than anything else...
looking for developers who wish to help make the Firefox browser for Windows Mobile 10, now has the possibility to take part of ios apps code, which will be of great assistance alone can not do this, plantation developers help

:good::highfive::fingers-crossed::victory:
I can
I have a LUmia 520 build update
You could probably charge me 50 bucks for this app and I would buy it. I really like my WP compared to the other two alternatives. But I absolutely have to have full blown firefox with adblocker on my phone. Heck I might pay as much as 100 bucks.
Get a kickstarter going and I will donate and link it everywhere. This project must happen.
hope it goes ahead with the project!
PM me if you need any beta testing .. I'm running a Lumia 630 Dual Sim -- W10M
It's the real Firefox?
I would use over Edge any day. This project has to happen.
Windows ten Mobile's Edge Browser Tested Against Firefox .
The new Microsoft Edge browser on Windows ten Mobile has been tested against rivals Chrome and Firefox. ... The browser in Windows ten Mobile has currently been benchmarked aboard Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Technology diary ReWritable used hydrocarbon and airstream benchmarks to check the applications.
It won't happen soon because Microsoft tool doesn't have ARM support yet.
Hello, I can convert the app!
I do know how to convert the ipa file to an appx file! I am testing the app and it works great! I am working in the app to run on PCs and tablets!
This thread needs to be moved into the Windows 10 Mobile forums! So many people that this would be of interest to, will not get the chance to see it if it stays here.

And there is another question how do you converted the app without the source code and use only ipa?
