[Q] about Gps, response time etc. - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently owning a Samsung SII and I'm pretty much set on buying the Xperia Z or the upcoming Honami nrut I have a couple of detailed questions.
How fast is the gps lock? How precise is it? Are the parameters the same for any country ( I experienced big problems when I was in Turkey. I live in Austria)
How is the response time of the device to some random inputs? For example is there a lag when unlocking the phone, calling or starting the camera?
Is there anything remotely available to Jkay's Settings?
Did anybody experience a sudden deactivation of the mobile network?
Does the chipset of the xperia z or the honami support the new wifi generation 11.ac?

Here in Germany I get a gps lock very fast. When it comes to precision, I think it is normal like any other phone. I think it's as precise as my old HD2.
I don't experience any lags. To me, the xperia z seems to be very smooth. if you have a log on the homescreen, you still can try another launcher.
the start of the included camera app is a little bit slow, though. It takes 3 to 4 seconds. I have to say that I'm on firmware version .434, and they say that this will improve when upgrading to version .253 or newer. Third party camera-apps also seem to start faster, but I didn't verify that as I can live with the stock sony camera app.
I'm owning the xperia z for 4 month now, and up 'till now I didn't experience any sudden deactivation of the mobile network.

I tried a lot of different launchers and it didn't help much. I came to the conclusion that it had to do with the Android version 4.1.2. that slowed down older devices.
Can you change the interface of the Xperia as much as the Galaxy's? I mean editing the entire drop-down menu, the status bar and so on.

the sony launcher is not that customizable, but like I said before you are free to use another launcher.
even with the stock launcher I didn't experience any lags. and the new 4.2.2. is said to be even smoother.

Got my Xperia TX today!

After being very happy with my Xperia S and Xperia Ion, I was eagerly waiting to get my hands on the TX, so was very happy when it arrived this morning!
It's a beautiful phone - photographs don't really do it justice, and it has a nicer feel in the hands than either the GSIII or the One X. Came with 2 NFC tags, a decent pair of earphones, and the usual factory-installed screen protector.
The screen is beautiful, without the super over-saturated colours that are on the SIII. Camera is also excellent, but have only taken a couple of shots on it so far.
Can't really comment on the battery life yet, although it does drain quickly at the moment - possibly because I haven't yet given it a full charge.
Only problem so far is that Gapps aren't installed on it - unsure as how to work around this so will have to research!
Have attached a couple of pics so you can see for yourselves.
:highfive:
So jealous. This one is without LTE right?
I would miss LTE
I'm not sure to be honest, but it doesn't really matter anyway as LTE isn't available over here anyway.
Forgot to mention - the TX also comes preinstalled with all the Bond wallpapers, themes and ringtones as the T does, so both models have them!
All I remember is difference from TX and T was the LTE lol

congrat to you..
Oh fantastic! I too long to wait for this phone so I ask you to tell me where I can buy it and what price via pay as you go? Thanks!
Er...I'd love to help but I wouldn't have the first clue on how to make a video review, and I'm sure listening to me drone on about the phone would impact Sony's sales so greatly they'd be forced to shutter in a month!
I bought it in China, and paid RMB 3050 - which is about 300 GBP. Unlocked handset.
Been playing with it all day, it has the fastest Internet Browser of any phone I have used yet, and is super, super smooth - I can't wait to see what it will be like when Jelly Bean comes out!
:fingers-crossed:
I thought it was a need to bring from China. Now, I saw more Chinese online shops but I don't understand their language so makes it hard to buy it. The best solution would be to ebay in English but do not have that. Maybe you can help for me?

[Q] Reason to buy T/TL?

For those of you who have bought a Sony Xperia T or TL what is the best feature of the phone? What makes it stand out over other phones? I'm currently considering switching from my iPhone 4S to an Android for more storage and the TL looks like an inexpensive option for a mid to high end replacement. I've heard the Walkman app is good and so is the album app but for those of you who use it as a daily driver what stands out to you?
Thread moved. Please post in the correct section of the forum. Questions belong here in Q&A.
Thanks

My bad...but now that it's in the right section maybe I'll get some answers.
I just wonder T and Tx what is difference?
I am in usa if I buy tx it is working on tmobile 3g?

Also, a phone that just works and a OEM who actually seems to have an idea what customers want. You want root so unlock the bootloader officially, you want your WiFi to turn off automatically when away from home so you don't chug the juice, you want an excellent camera, good DLNA functionality, Walkman music player, etc? Xperia T ticks the boxes.
I've been a huge fan of Samsung phones for a while but hated the camera performance so made the jump from my Note to the Xperia T. Best decision I ever made!
Also, the Note forum was really whiny and full of challenge and angst. The Xperia guys to date seem really helpful and much more friendly.
If I helped, hit Thanks!

It's market dependant, if you're in the US I think it's the TX there. Here in europe they sell the T, TX is unavailable.

Just a heads up. After install I couldnt run any apps or open existing folders. I just chose the reset settings option and it worked after that. I have noticed that the ui is much smoother and so far browsing is much more fluid.
Downloaded 4.1.2 on my TL and it is pretty cool. UI is much snappier and smooth, and the Extended Battery mode option is fantastic - saw that option on some other Sony devices so I'm very happy they updated the TL with it too.
Confusing issue about Google Wallet... has anyone tried using it? Despite being on AT&T (which apparently doesn't "support" Wallet) the Google Play store let me download the app - which initially made me pretty excited - only to be slammed with a pop up as soon as the app starts claiming my device and/or service provider is not supported. Previously the app did not show up in Google Play (most apps that are not "compatible" with the device you are using will not show up), but when I noticed a few extra features in the settings -> more under NFC for Wallet, I figured then Google Wallet was compatible lol.
I think its one of the worst updates (Not talking about JB) in all the phones I owned. So I upgraded my wife's TL... Browser Does not work. (Does Not even open), Rainbows on Screen on and off.. While playing youtube and one time while pulling down notification tray. Lock Screen disappeared.. Did the settings reset.. Same thing nothing changed. Now I may have to factory Reset and Install all over. They should have tested more before they released as we waited all these days.

It's not sony's fault. If the lockscreen does not work or even the webrowser then something is wrong with your phone, I updated my device and now I have not lag and there's no bugs.

No burst mode, but it does have HDR capability now at the cost of 1MP (12MP vs. 13MP) not exactly earth shattering. My wifi connection appears to be much more stable, with animation scale set to 0 the ui cranks along at breakneck pace, the browser quick commands wheel in the labs section of the settings is much more responsive and better organized, and I am finding the keyboard response a little more fluid. The only negative I have so far is that the com.sonyericsson.unplugcharger line is no longer disablable... Able to be disabled... Disenablable... Ah whatever the word is! You cant turn it off so you're left with an "unplug the charger" notification after disconnecting from power. So far though, I feel like I just got a brand new phone.

Same here. PC Companion says "Your phone/tablet is up to date."
update is gone
I tried updating last night and the update was there, but now when I connect my phone is says it is up to date. I couldn't update last night because I couldn't get past the step where PC companion tells you to plug in usb and hold the volume down button. For some reason, my phone would not go past that step and update. I checked my firmware version and it is still ICS. Do you think they took the update down?

[Q] Should I get the Xperia Z?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an Xperia Z soon but after doing a bit of research, it seems like this phone has a lot of pretty serious problems. This article mentions the most common ones:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/sony-xperia-z-problems-bug-fixes/
Well, I was just wondering if these problems still exist? I know that most Sony phones have problems related to WiFi and poor battery life, but is it especially bad on the Xperia Z?
Also, are there any other more serious problems I should be aware of, such as the sudden death problem (which apparently is now fixed?) ?
What are you doing with your phone mostly? do you have any other options?
in my opinion you should look for something else, but xperia z does its job very well (except POOR pics quality...)

I don't really use my phone much, mostly just txt and calls, light web browsing and gaming.
I don't have many options, mainly because the other alternatives are expensive. I'm considering this an option because someone is selling it cheap 2nd hand, and it's within my acceptable range.

Well, that's good to hear. I just wanted to make sure, because from the many comments I've read, many people have had serious problems with WiFi and battery issues. It also seems a pretty well known problem among Sony phones, similar to how HTC phones have had display, WiFi and overheating issues.

Xperia Z is an beautiful beast, and with unlocked bootloader and custom ROM (or de-bloated / tweaked stock) / custom kernel, the battery life is simply amazing.

Xperia T/Tx/V official android 4.3 First Impression

I made this post to let everyone share his impression about the long waited android 4.3 To our beloved phones T/TX/V
share your thoughts =)
and Gratz lets w8 for our last hope the Kitkat =D
Update
after flashing the usa FTF i just used my mobile for 10mins and seriously i got a new mobile now! nicely done by Sony
Smooth and Graphic is eye blessing just gotta w8 till get rooted and get the smaller navigation bar cuz this one is kinda too big
i love the call animation too It`s a new phone now =) Gratz to everyone
Tx Owner
First we won't get kitkat and in March our 18 months are over and Sony has yet made it to get itself out of having to give us kitkat...
Now 4.3. I don't know I expected more. SP got the gloves mode for example and I don't know whether it is just the Vodafone version why aren't we getting an update center?
The cam looks good but lacks of functionality, for example the tap to focus and make picture is gone and the auto mode being chosen every time I open the app is not really optimal.
The lockscreen is a bit rudimentary but we all knew that before yes we got widgets but honestly what do they offer if I have to watch out not opening Walkman or when swiping left and right. Better optional app buttons and to have them on the lower screen half.
Then the Docomo status bar better than what we had before but definitely many steps behind other uis in that case.
Worst for me is that the buttons for navigation are almost third of the screen... Would it kill Sony to make that customizable?
My main parts I'm not yet updating and waiting for the modders to do their best
My Impression
It snappy ,looks nice ram usages is poor I don't know about battery life yet , sound quality seems to be enhanced :louder ,deeper bass, higher treble all round improvement P.S. for those who don't know first start up will be a tad laggy
Rep
It feels much faster than 4.1.2. I love the lockscreen and the design

Stamina mode and camera
- Stamina mode looks like its 2 versions back. It lacks of customization which is in SP and Z series. Besides the (inaccurate) timer there is nothing new. That mode was previously in 4.1.2 just now it looks better.
- Camera - first impression is that it makes better pictures in low light conditions but I cant find settings in menu for resolution and quality - itll be nice if someone tell me where it is.

I passionately hate the current Xperia lock screen. While I like using other lockscreens, sometimes the default lock screen over-rides it anyway, I think when memory is low. I know I can use a pin, pattern, etc, but I want to be able to look at my phone for a very few short seconds without all the fiddling. Worst Xperia lock screen yet. Even the X10 lock screen was better.

Thanks! haven't noticed that
to me it seems a bit laggy compared to the .278 leaked version
i see a few bugs
First of all, what happened to the stock browser. is it android policy to pass to chrome in 4.3? I dont know about you, bt i dont feel any butter maybe the firmware still needs to get the hang of the device, vut for the moment it feels a bit laggy. Most important: What the hell happened to the volume bar?! i press the volume keys and ony a small grey rectengle appears, no indicator of volume level, i can hear the beeps increassing volume but i dont see it, and if you are in an app like RR3 it doesnt work! anybody had the same problem?

Most important: What the hell happened to the volume bar?! i press the volume keys and ony a small grey rectengle appears, no indicator of volume level, i can hear the beeps increassing volume but i dont see it, and if you are in an app like RR3 it doesnt work! anybody had the same problem?
