My Xperia Z doesn't charge as soon as I connect the charging cable?? I have to move the cable for a while before I get the suitable position for the charging! At first I thought the problem was at the cable but it wasn't due to the fact that it charges my brothers Galaxy S3 normally.! Does anybody else having this problem? My Xperia Z is not rooted.. Anybody know something?

You destroy your micro USB in phone.
sounds like an issue with the actual usb port on the phone might be damaged
Richy99, why you repeat what I said? You don't must repeat and refresh solved threads
Firstly Thank you for your answer. But I don't understand How can I destroy my usb port without doing anything?

The pins inside micro usb bent a bit so if u have the tools and knowledge u can fix that yourself otherwise go to.service. Its 5min job. If they want to.send it for.repairs you will wait
[email protected]
@ kcannonball before you send it off for repair try a different cable from another phone as sony's cable tend to have a bit of play in them, and if the other cable doesn't work then you will definitely know its the usb port at fault, i had problems on my old xperia x10 with the usb port/cable and using a different cable sorted it out.
Edit...after reading your post again it definitely sounds like the cable to me as I had the exact same problems on my old x10 the usb port has got a slight bit of play in it and a different cable will sort it out even though your cable will work on a different phone if you check with your friends phone you'll notice the usb cable is a tight fit and doesn't wobble about as they use a slightly smaller usb port that what sony use on there phone's.

I dont have enough knowledge so I am thinking of asking the sony center about it. However, today it started charging as soon as I connected it with the same cable. I couldnt understand whats going on??
I will check with another cable soon let me see if it works..
I have another question also: there is a white point near the usb port, what is that??
The little white strip is for sony to tell if water has got in as once it gets any water on it it will turn a pinkish red colour
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Mine is pinkish red colour but I haven't used my phone in water at all. Does that turns to pinkish in every kind of water?

Ok so my phone is playing up abit. When i put the charger in it disconnects and connects constantly. Its fine if you dont touch the phone but as soon as you touch the screen it starts disconnecting again. I put this down to a faulty charger dock and ordered the part so i can fit it. However after fitting the new dock the problem still persists. Ive changed wires, plugs, charger flex and charger port. What could this possibly be?

That link is in french, can you explain a little bit what it says. I have same problem as OP but I bought 4 different USB Flex replacemments and they all dont work. No sound from speaker except for a little popping sound. I think something in the link talked about the back of them being grounded or glued, can you explain it a little please?

Which USB port did you damage? The Micro USB connector of your Charger or the Micro USB port of your phone? If its that of your charger you can easily buy a new one and its cheap too.But if its of your phone that you damaged then contact a technician or take the phone to Sony Service Centers.
i don't think its possible
IT IS possible. Services is doing this without changing motherboard.
The manual repair is possible (approx. 5-10 minutes) but need a good soldering station (this is much more expensive than a new x8).
With correct equipment any technician can repair it, the usb connector is cheap, 1-2€ in any electric shop.

Anybody out there knows how to solve my problem, my phone's usb port or charging port is not funtioning, I try to charge with my moto charger but no response, but when I try my charger to charge other devices, there's no problem, it do charging, what should I do? Does my usb port/charging port is brick/damage??

Have you tried other cables with your phone? For a while I had charging issues with my original cable... I had to position the cable at almost an angle to get the contacts to connect. Then I decided I was tired of having a phone that didn't always charge at night so I got a new Staples brand cable and had no issues since. So point is try a different cable to see if the problem is your phone's hardware or the cable's.

Thank you for the suggestion but I already try other usb cable, but still no response. Maybe I'll go to a technician to see if what happens to it.

Chances are the soldered contacts broke. Hope it didn't pull up any of the PCB board then theres no fix short of replacing the board. Good luck. FYI if your not a repair tech I wouldn't attempt the fix myself.

Hi, sorry I'm only just getting the hang of the app.
When my Z1 is plugged in, the micro USB feels quite loose inside the port.
I can easily wriggle it around, it does not feel as secure as the lightning port felt in my iPhone 5.
Could I please get some options on this? Is this normal or is mine starting to break?
I do handle the phone a lot while it is plugged in and the port is definitely in an awkward position once it's plugged in...

I don't have problems with USB port but I ordered magnetic charger cable because I will go crazy if I continue with opening those water protection caps every evening just to charge my device.
So... to save and preserve your port I would recommend that cable.
It cost almost nothing on ebay 5-10$ only
Sent from my Z1
Can I just bump this up? Ideally, I would like as many people as possible, nearly all of us own z1's, to just feel how their charging cables sit inside the port when the USB cable is plugged in,
Does it wriggle round a bit? Does it feel very secure?
Mine is somewhat loose in the port and I'd like to know if this is normal or if mine is breaking....
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Nope mine is secure and not wiggly.

How annoying for me... And for all of us, because I've had my phone 7 weeks and thought it started off firm...
But it's now loose and that is purely from handling the phone while plugged in. It's on a weird location the port... Awkward.
I got an idea it's not very well fitted... It may be just a one off tho,,,
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
mine too, i guess because using the phone while pluggined. better use magnetic charging
i might have use my micro USB port less than 15 times, most the time its on magnetic cable and its not loose.
I am hoping that someone out there can help me. My sgs i9000 does not charge when using the mains charger. It charges when plugged into a laptop is in the USB cable okay though. I have bought, both a new battery and a new charger, but the problem persists. Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Better still, does anyone have a solution?
I thank you all in advance.

Thanked you by accident when I went to quote you there
It probably isn't his USB port on the phone if it's charging fine from a laptop with USB cable.
I'd be checking that the charger definitely works by charging another device with it, if you have one. The voltage pins on the phones socket are the same whether you're charging with a charger or plugging into a computers USB, so if one way wasn't working then nothing should be working.

The charger charges my wifes phone with no problems. The battery charges in her phone using the mains charger too, so not a battery related problem either.

Could just be the plug on the charger possibly, I've had that happen before. There are two little sprung prongs on one side of it. I've had well used chargers before that I've had to get a pair of pliers and pull them out a little..
The fact that it works on your wife's phone doesn't mean it can't be the plug on your charger. Could just be that your USB port is a tiny bit more worn than hers. Doesn't mean that your port is totally screwed.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have tried three different chargers and none of them charge my phone. I'm very interested in your comment about the USB port being slightly more worn.
I am constantly flashing different Roms etc across using ums/ mtp so that does make sense. Also the USB cable that I use to charge my laptop is an old Nokia cable and the USB connector (phone end) is a little tighter.
Thanks.

Hi @sbnaul Unfortunately I haven't had much progress at all. My device connects with Odin & PC etc with no problem, it is just the charging issue using the mains charger. I have discovered that if I push in and hold the usb connector of the mains charger it will charge. Obviously though, none of us have the time to sit there and hold the phone for its charging process. If I have any further progress I will post here. Good Luck with your own problem, that must be a headache.
