Does Google Wallet work on a rooted N7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I believe so but I'm in the UK so I don't know 100%.

For me it doesn't, it says unsupported device on the top at the credit card screen

You can use something like ota rootkeeper which will allow you to use it.

It will say this if you are rooted. Yes.
But it does NOT affect functionality.
Wallet will work just fine.
That rooted message is just a Google disclaimer.
I'm rooted and running CM10 and I used it today no problem.
It says its an unsupported device because you are rooted and they won't be held accountable if some app empties your wallet. It still works great though. Google paid for my lunch yet again!

Yes..
do you have a credit card with the little 'wifi' symbol on it (not sure what it's called).. this means your actual credit card has a NFC chip in it.
i have a Chase card, which has this.
every time i lay my Galaxy Nexus on top of my wallet, the NFC Reader app (market) i have installed, picks it up right away.
Works on mine. Took a long time to finish setting up.

Good thing to know. Just picked mine up from microcenter earlier today and was wondering the same thing. Haven't had much time to play with mine

Pasting my own post from another forum:
-----------------------
I have rooted and unlocked my Nexus 7, and yes, when setting google wallet after all that, I did get my $10 prepaid credit, and then I updated to the latest Google wallet version that allows you to register any type of credit card (visa, amex, etc). Which I did.
I went to the store just with the intention to pay with my tabblet, and it worked!!! And yes, I also got the "unsupported warning" for being rooted, but that does not stop the app from working perfectly. The selected card for that transaction was the credit card I registered, and I didn't have an internet connection for the transaction to be completed succesfully (very cool).
I haven't done a transaction with the prepaid $10 credit yet, but it should be no problem since I think it's even less complex than what I did above.

Cheers.

quick question do you have the wallet app open when you are checking out cause the when i tried it didn't work but it worked perfectly fine at MD and a vending machine so i dont know if its the store card reader or what
Well, can anyone explain why, on my Nexus 7 and HTC EVO LTE, both our which are rooted, Wallet used to at least open, but after this update I just get an error: sorry, wallet does not yet run on this device and on your mobile network"?
Two different devices, two different manufacturers, same error.

I use the hide my root app. I didn't know it would work with it being rooted though. I still like hiding my root until I need it.

Los Angeles. It ran before this update, so it's hard to imagine my location has anything to do with it.
I did find a few posts on other sites, like Android forums and AT&T's, for the same issue. Since nobody has complete info, we're all coming to different conclusions.
On AT&T's forum, they think it won't run because Wallet only has an agreement with Sprint. Obviously, my nexus 7 dispels that theory.
People on Verizon are speculating the same thing.
I've tried uninstalling both the update, and the entire app.
I've tried temporarily turning off root.
Still no workie.

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy the Nexus 7. My friend will buy it from US, activate it so that I will get the free credit and sent it over to me in India.
I understand I wont be able to use Movies, Books etc.
But will I be able to use the free credit to buy apps in India?????
Depends on the copyright the application creators allow. In most cases, yes.
Ok I will clarify a little more. I am not asking about any region limited apps. Will I be able to use the credit to buy apps in Indian play store? Or is the free credit valid within US only?
Thanks

I was in Canada when I bought my Nexus 7, and travelled to the US. While there, I did buy some apps, though I was not allowed to use their Magazines and Music store. It knew I was Canadian, but gave me access to apps on the American store (like NBC Olympics). You'd probably have similar luck.
And it's a great tablet anyway, even without the Play Store credit. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.
Though I wonder if MarketEnabler would get it to work if it doesn't. I'm just confident that you'll be fine.

I don't think using the credit is a problem rather getting a credit is a problem as Google would require a US credit carded added in your wallet account before you activate your free credit.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I got that one covered. My friend would buy it activate using my Id and his card and then sent it over to me.
Another doubt. Can I still use the credit even after the card which was used to activate the device is removed from my wallet account?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
yes i've done exactly that, i used my brothers credit card details to get the free credit and then deleted his card from my payment options.. still have the 25 dollars play store credit.. its there like its own gift voucher card

Yes, no problem with that.
A different method to get the credit!
Well I tried another method of getting Play store credit. Using this method I was able to achieve it all. And I find that this connects with VPN with more speed rather than configuring using on device VPN connection.
I did following to get the $25 credit plus Google Movies, Music, Wallet, Books and Magzines too
1. Download Spotflux and install it. (a Free and best VPN solution)
2. Download Connectify and install it.
3. Share Spotflux connection using Connectify
4. Rest your Nexus 7 tablet
5. Connect using the newly created WiFi hotspot
6. Just proceed with the steps. After completion you will receive $25 credit
All these steps in detail and with screenshots are also available on my blog post http://www.abtevrythng.com/2012/09/how-to-get-25-credit-in-play-store-with.html
As it is currently sold out on google play as everyone is aware, have google or LG released any update on when more will be available to buy?
Also, is google play the only place that will sell the phone for at its low original price?
No update. Yes, the play store is the only place unless you get a contract with T-Mobile.

No news on Google Play store dates, but I heard a rumor about it being available in T mobile retail stores as of today, so if you want one badly enough call around your T Mobile stores.

Well my question was finally answered today. Turns out you have to start your 6 month trial for Google Music by October 15th. I'm wondering if it's the same for everyone?
Sent from my XT1080m using xda-developers app.
Both my fiancee and I got this email as well. I already have All Access activated on my account and we were going to wait until it was up before activating my fiancee's 6 months, looks like that plan is out the window.
I was hoping to wait to activate it until spring for outside exercising. Guess that's not gonna happen.

This might be a dumb question.. I have all access already.. How do you actually redeem this

The offer comes up upon launching Play Music on your phone. Since you already have it, I've read that you can redeem the 6 months by cancelling your current subscription and then launching Play Music on your phone (you may or may not need to clear the app data).
Didn't work
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hmm...not sure then. From what I've read it should be as simple as canceling the current subscription, clearing the Play Music app data, and then launching Play Music. I didn't have a previous All Access subscription so I can't confirm it myself, but others have said they were successful with that method. Perhaps Google caught wind and have prevented previous subscribers from being eligible.
After speaking with Google, I was told that i would have to cancel my 7.99 subscription and start a new 9.99 subscription to take advantage of the offer. Verizon would not help even though there have been reports of them giving customers a refund for the offer balance.

Well, Canada getting anything is quite groundbreaking! Thats what this is all about.
Theres no Radio on my google music... maybe I didnt get update?
Welcome to Canada!
I'm glad a post was made announcing Google Music's availability in Canada, perhaps a new thread dedicated to services actually available to Canadians should be started, for example Amazon app store is finally available to us Canadians (Free app of the Day):victory:
For those who don't care I understand, but many many services are delayed or blocked for us up here so having a resource or post letting us now about one finally getting loose up here is great!

Even google voice doesnt work in Canada.. you need to trick google into thinking your a US resident.. the number they give you is a US number also..

This is how it happened. I accessed the Play Store, and went to Music. It was there that I found music for sale! I immediately bought the new pearl jam cd. I now believe that it was this purchase that brought about the changes to Google music on my phone.
I am running v5.2.1224L.847622
The only thing of note is that in my Google wallet settings, I have a visa for purchases. The address for it is in the U.S..

I just tried to access Google music and I got this message

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact the user who got it working has a Credit card with an American address

Grand Central, the company Google purchased and transformed into Google Voice, offered Canadian numbers.
Plus there are several talk/text applications that offer Canadian numbers like Fongo.
Don't know, but I'll take your word for it. Perhaps it's size - smaller player's get away with it, while bigger companies play by the rules? I'm sure if they could Google would go for it - it's in their interest to do so.
