[Q] Automate Android Settings setup - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am trying to setup a large number of phones with the same settings and it takes a long time.
The first settings are:
- enable developer mode
- enable usb debugging
Can these settings be automated ?
If so, how ?
Thank you,
George

Settings Not Changing

I recently rooted my Samsung Captivate using SuperOneClick 1.9.1. The only things I have done since rooting the device is allow sideloading (by editing settings.db with SQLite Editor), so I can install apps from Amazon Appstore and used Titanium Backup to delete bloatware.
I noticed that when I installed SwiftKey that I would click 'Enable Swiftkey' and then click on Swiftkey settings only to be told that I need to enable swiftkey in order to change the settings. I thought it was a problem with swiftkey.
However, I then noticed that the phone kept reverting to USB Debugging Mode and only after three attempts was I able to disable USB debugging and mount my drive. I finally figured out that it's a problem with changing settings; can anybody tell me how to fix this? Thanks.
Super one click 1.whatever has the option to enable side-loading ( 2nd tab! ) so you really waisted some time on that one!
if you are running a custom rom, they are made to keep debugging on, it doesnt stop you from doing anything.
to enable swift key:
menu button > settings > locale and text > check swiftkey to enable.
ive never used swiftkey but that is how all other keyboards go....
all else fails install a custom rom / pre-rooted, crap removed, extra options, side loading tethering ect...
More info
The problem isn't just SwiftKey or USB debugging. All settings on the phone are screwed up. I hold down the power button and bring up the options:
Data Network Mode: I restarted the phone and 3g was enabled. I clicked on the data network mode and disabled it. But now it's always off, yet it says it's activated (and I can't set it to deactivated)
Airplane Mode: I can't put the phone in airplane mode, nor can I do this from the settings menu
Sound: This works fine
On the Power Control Widget:
Brightness: I can change brightness, but the icon stays the same
Sync: This button works fine
GPS: This button is not responding
Bluetooth: n/a (the button lights up, but I don't have bluetooth)
Wifi: n/a (the button lights up, but I don't have wifi nearby)
The settings menu:
I know that Swiftkey and USB debugging are giving me problems
As for the custom ROM, I was having problems with the the signature error on 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051197)
I'm going to try out the advise from that thread and see if I can resolve this with a custom ROM. Normally I'd say this is "throwing out the baby with the bath water," but I'm excited about putting a custom ROM on my phone for performance reasons.
If there is another solution, I'd like to know about it because I want to be a little more adept before installing a ROM on my phone. Thanks.
I was going to install Serendipity 6.4. Do you have another MOD that you would recommend?
+1 for serendipity

Force 5GHz wifi? (9.7)

Hey everyone - just want to check if people have noticed this and/or have a workaround for it.
I'd like to set my device to connect only to 5GHz networks. On other devices, I'd do this by Settings -> Wifi -> (menu) -> Advanced and toggle the Wifi Frequency option there. As far as I can see, the Advanced option isn't available on the Wifi menu screen.
1) Is the advanced settings screen missing for everyone else?
2) Is there another way to access this screen?
3) Is there another way to toggle the relevant setting?
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Stay awake toggle

Since I'm not rooted, I am hoping to find a way to toggle the "stay awake" option in settings/developer options. If I was rooted I could use secure settings, because it has that option. Thank you!
Profile: Keep Awake
State > Power > Source > any (or just choose usb)
New task
add
Display > Display Timeout > 23 hours
This will keep display always on, on any power source, while phone is unlocked. no root needed
I actually re rooted yesterday, and still like this method better! Thank you!

Is my developer options back to default?

Hi,
I have unlocked a developer options by clicking 7 times firmware compilation number. Than a go to developer option to check what can I change in my phone. When I was scrolling down I've notice that some of options were ON. Than I decide to change nothing. When I press slider at the top to set OFF and hide developer options some of option before set as ON goes OFF. My question is: if by clicking OFF at the top of developer options all setting back to default? If yes. why some of that was set ON when I unlocked developer options at first?
Well some options are on by default, like the automatic update... the default would be on, regardless for developers options turned on or off. Once in developer mode, some developers would like to freeze these updates while working/developing for the phone, hence you have the option now to turn it off in developer mode. Same for the wifi data option thing.
How to bring them back to default? Or maybe some of you can post screenshots with default developer options like it was fabric. Thank you.

Click to collapse
Just turn developer options off.
If you turn off developer options, the menu vanishes as well.
This will also reset the settings.
You can bring it back the usual way, which will turn it on again.

Developer option

Hi all, I was enable developer option, after that I accessed it at bottom of setting,
