I have a Samsung Ativ S t899M (rogers) Win8 ohone. I am in Las Vegas and trying to get the LTE to work, I can see it I get 4 bars LTE but no connection, I have added fast.t-mobile.com in the internet apn, I downloaded the samsung apn and tried setting it there. Nothing. No data connection.
Odd think is when I Downloaded the Samsung APN tool I see Verizon - LTE Internet greyed out..
(and if I add in the apn for t-mobile i then get the option to reset to default. SO I am guessing I need to get rid of that Verizon LTE setting all together. Any ideas? Is there some menu I have to go into or eng code I have to plug in?

nevermind I figured it out - had to delete all the information in both apn and internet settings then created the tmobile - lte in the added samsung apn app and nothing else..just that and it all works not. getting 18 down and 18 up!!
I had to also change the mode to IPv4 only - I lost connection as soon as I put it on IPv4v6.

I've just upgraded from 2.2, and now I can't seem to get 3G working with AT&T. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've tried fiddling with the Settings but nothing seems to work. Help is appreciated, thanks.
In the About Device, the Mobile network type listed is HSDPA, but the Mobile network state is Disconnected.
Have you checked your APN settings? Also what's your baseband version showing in 'About device'?
Please use WCDMA mode
Go to Settings, Wireless & Network, Mobile Networks, Access Point names and make sure you have one called Broadband (assuming you are on the ATT monthly data only plan)
If you dont, create a new APN and name it Broadband & make the APN Broadband as well. Just leave the other options and save it & select it.
I think by default it comes up with the ATT wap.cingular APN which doesnt work with the Tab Data plan.
Flash the bell modem then set the apn to get data and phone working after flashing stock 2.3.3?

Thank you so much! This worked! Just did this and restarted.
Since I've replied to about 4 threads already with the same answer, I figured I would post this here and maybe have it made a sticky.
If you have recently flashed a new non AT&T Rom (Euro,Gingerbread, Overcome, CM7, etc..) you Galaxy Tab will not have the correct APN setting for your monthly data sim from AT&T.
The fix:
Go to Settings
Wireless & Network
Mobile Networks
Access Point names and make sure you have one called Broadband (assuming you are on the ATT monthly data only plan)
If you dont, create a new APN:
Name: Broadband
APN: Broadband
Just leave the other options as is, save it & select it.
I think by default it comes up with the ATT wap.cingular APN which doesnt work with the Tab Data plan.
OMG You're a lifesaver!
I just flashed my respiffied $200 AT&T Galaxy Tab with Overcome 2.0, and have been beating my head into the wall trying to flash modems and do all kinds of resets.
Thank you so much!
Weird part is, I had this exact problem when I activated a data plan for the first time on my AT&T tab a few days ago. Checked, and I had I already had an APN called "APN Broadband" so I thought it was a different problem. After fighting it for a while, I decided to create the new one with the name "Broadband" with the exact same settings as the "APN Broadband" one, and it worked perfectly! Apparently, the name is critical!
I just went through the same thing with my new AT&T Galaxy Tab. I had to modify one of the entries noted above to get it to work.
Name : APN Broadband (not ATT Broadband)
APN: Broadband
I'm happy camping again.

BTW, my Galaxy Tab is rooted using SuperOneClick.
OK, now I'm confused. As previously stated, I changed the APN name to APN Broadband and APN to Broadband and the wireless data started working. I turned on wifi, opened some random web pages, then shut off wifi. Now I'm not connecting to AT&T wireless data. I check the APN's again and the tab reverted back to the factory ATT Broadband. I swapped it back to the new APN I created (APN Broadband) and still could not get data. Now I changed back to the factory ATT Broadband, still no data. I began searching for more input. After 5+ minutes, I saw the 3G icon and I can reach the internet and market. I am new to Android devices, so I may be wrong, but I am not convinced I am done working this issue. If anyone else is has encountered this issue and have permanently fixed it, please add some food for thought.

Very interesting, as the one I had named "APN Broadband" is the one that would drop service whenever I opened Market, and I had to do exactly what the OP stated in his post to get it to work.
On a side note, I have noticed that it switches back to the default "APN Broadband" everytime I cycle airplane mode. I have to go back into the settings and choose "Broadband" again. Maybe I should just delete the old "APN Broadband" APN and hope it doesn't screw anything up.
Delete it. It will only make things easier for you.
Thanks!
RichAP, thank you very much for the APN info!
I spent the morning trying various combinations of uppercase, lowercase, password, no password entries with the wap.cingular.com APN. I did a bunch of searches and finally found this post. Didn't believe it could be as easy as just entering "broadband" into the APN settings, lol.
My AT&T 7" Galaxy Tab is now up and running with Overcome 7 v4.1 and using 3G. Yay!
(edit: yes I posted this as my first post just so I could hit the thanks button.)
I know this is an old thread but it helped me out recently, however, I found I had to use a regular phone SIM in my Note 4 Edge to add the Broadband APN and then switch back to the broadband SIM. If anyone is searching this issue and having a similar problem I hope this info might be helpful.
Pulled from the Inspire forums and can confirm working mod.
PROCEDURE FOR ROMS WITH A SINGLE LOCKED APN:
If your APN is locked (it shows the lock symbol and you cannot change the settings), then we're just going to add a second one.
From the APN screen, press Menu>>New APN. Here are the settings for your 2nd APN. Everything is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as below.
Name: Media Net (if your 1st locked APN is named Media Net, then just name this one Media Net2 - this name in this field isn't important as long as it's unique)
APN: Phone
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 (this option might not be in your APN, so don't worry if you don't see it)
MCC: xxx (Don't change this number)
MNC: xxx (Don't change this number)
APN type: default, admin, hipri (notice there are no spaces between the words and the commas)
APN protocol (if applicable): IPv4
Everything else: <Not set>
Once you have the above settings entered, press menu and save. You will exit back out to the APN selection screen. Now you need to select the little round button for the new APN (Media Net/Phone) that you just created. Your phone's data connection will drop for several seconds as it switches to the new APN, and then come back. If you find that your connection doesn't "stick" on the 2nd APN (i.e. the selection button keeps reverting back to the 1st APN) then reboot your phone and try selecting the 2nd APN again.[/COLOR][/B] It is mandatory that the 2nd APN is selected in order for the speed benefit.
We're done. If something went wrong and you need to revert back to your default APN config, from the APN selection screen just press menu and select "Reset to default".
Will this allow tethering without the tethering plan?
Thanks I can confirm it works great no need to root my phone now

Awesome!! Thanks!!
Even better it drops us off of LTE, i.e. we can now turn the darn thing off and save some battery
This doesnt let you use LTE 4g while doing tetherning. After adding this apn it kicks you to the HSPA+ 4g.
But this is an easy way to create an easy way to switch between LTE and HSPA+
Edit: also it didnt allow me to do tethering. Said i had to dial 611 and get it added.
I seem to be doing something wrong... I made the second APN and activated it. When I try to use the WiFi Hotspot App, I get a message about adding tethering. Should I be using a different app?

This may be but my internet icon has not changed. Showing 4G but that is probably due to the market I am in is not an LTE market.

Yea when you are on the 4g LTE network, there is a little LTE underneath the 4g symbol

Have you followed step by step? Yes? Then have you tried rebooting the phone?
Is there any way you can update that APN to work with LTE 4g.

Sorry as of now I don't have a way. Will be figuring that out shortly.
Does not work for me.
Followed steps and reboot. No good.
Not Working
It works for a second and then it reverts back to that you need a tethering plan. Any other info. Thanks

I've ran it for about 2 gigs today and had no issues. Also once you turn it off the next time you wanna do it you will have to switch back to the stock APN and then back to the one you made. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing right now.
I didn't use these settings to enable tethering, but I entered them just to get ANY sort of data connection. It definitely solved my issues. Thanks a lot!
Won't revert to default
I set up an apn for hspa+ before I could get a 4g sim. I've switched sims and now I wanted to go back to default and it said I had no data due to an apn error. The radial box is selected for the original apn.
It would work for a second and my laptop would see the network but quickly went back to telling me to go to AT&T and get a tethering plan. However Having the second APN seems to help when the data gets flaky, which is VERY often. Speeds are erratic and I often can't get ANY data.
Sentinel
would love to see this work with the LTE connection.
So i bought the Note. Wife gave me skyrocket for xmas, put the sim in the note, and put the exact apn from skyrocket into the note (manually of course). Internet now is spotty at best, sometoimes speed test will say no connection, at best it'll show DL speed 1.5MB/sec....any ideas? Ive tried the wap.cingular APN, phone APN, all with very inconsistant results. I heard rumor that the new ptn apn is new and has 'kinks' in it?? Bottom Q is : which APN setting should i use!!??
thx
I had an infuse 4g and I used both the Phone APN for my internet and the wap.cingular APN for my MMS. Make sure your fast dormancy type *#*#9900#*#* using the dialer. A menu will pop open and near the bottom there will be an option to turn fast dormancy off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412384
I'll link the topic that I found it in it does a better job of explaining things
just wonder what the ptn apn means. the skyrocket is an LTE phone and uses the pta apn. I am using the Pta apn with no problems but just remember that some areas fall back on gsm service so check to see if network mode is set to auto or wcdma. switch to auto allows the phone to shift to 3g when HSPA is not availble.
For the Note, just use the Phone and wap.cingular APN's. PTA is for LTE only.
Anyone successfully connect to the old cingular apn? It won't let me get a 3G data connection (I get signal bars with an exclamation point on the icon). If I force 2G, it will fully connect to edge. Then if I select 3G as my preferred network type the signal icon switches to 3g then H and then back to the exclamation point all very quickly. I have tried a couple apn settings without any luck. Since I'm getting service, but it won't give me data, is there something baked in the phone not allowing me to connect? I can put the sim in my old phone (optimus g) and it connects fine.
I can connect to the normal "nxtgenphone" apn but I don't want to right now.
any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated
isnt cingular the old tmobile? cingular doesnt exist anymore from what i understand, so you cant expect to connect to it.

I can connect to the att apns, but my download speed is a whopping 0.5 Mbps. Connecting to cingular apn, which I can do with my old phone, at least gets me back into 3g speeds.
Are you on an lte provisioned account? If so the older apn's are locked out. Att did this because of the ability to bypass the throttle restrictions when on an unlimited plan. As far as the apn that works for 2g, that's probably the mms network.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Premium HD app
Check the attached screenshot for the APN settings, even though its called ATT. Its worth double checking. Otherwise, two things should happen - find your old phone and get them to reprovision your account to work with the old APN, or troubleshoot with them and find out why you're getting such **** data speeds.
http://apn-settings.com/us/att-apn-settings/
Are you on an older unlimited Nation plan or Family talk plan with unlimited data? If so, your speeds are being throttled after surpassing 3gb. Those download rates are tell tale. AT&T has blocked APNS other than NXTGENPHONE for those using a capable LTE device for the reasons mentioned above . If you were to change the APN to regular 3g ATTPhone or Cingular WAP. Your account is auto provisioned to reduce speeds.
Yeah throttling is the issue. Just strange I can go through cingular with a different lte capable phone.

Using a Family Share Plan I had connected via the default AT&T APN. I believe it was AT&T "phone" APN. However, I recently switched to my company provides AT&T Corporate Mobile Share Plan, and I had to switch my APN to AT&T "PTA" APN in order to get LTE to work. This is what I'm currently using on my Nexus 6. AT&T's NXTGENPHONE APN did work for me when I was running the 5.0 Developer Preview on my Nexus 5 on the AT&T Corporate Plan. However I lost the settings for it. Does anyone have a listing of the APN settings for it? I would like to compare speed tests.
Nevermind, got it from source
