Hi Gurus,
I am getting crazy and desperate after this problem: Samsung Ace GT-S5830, rooted, installed recovery clockwork 5.0.2.6, installed CM10.1 Cooper (tried various RC2, RC6, Nightly..) . The result I always get: as soon as I reboot, after the samsung logo it apperas a white screen for two seconds and then turns all black. I waited some time, 15-20 min, but the phone does not boot!!! This happens with several custom ROM.
When I use ODIN to get to stock firmware is OK, but I am not able to boot with CM10.1.. Please any help!!!
Thanks!
How did you flash it? What options did you pick in recovery? Can you name every option you picked as well?

Thanks for your reply.
These were my actions:
-rooted
-installed recovery clockwork 5.0.2.6
-downloaded and copied on the SD card the file "cm-10.1.0-RC6-GT-S5830-cooper"
-boot to get CWM recovery clockwork
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache
- wipe Dalvik cache
- format system
- installed .zip file from SD card "cm-10.1.0-RC6-GT-S5830-cooper"
-reboot
-whote screen (2 seconds) than stucks with black screen
- tried to reboot many times again wiping data, and cache
Note: the same happens with other CM ROMs, cooper or nightly
Note: using ODIN I am able to restore a stock firmware, but I would like to use CM10.1
It is one week behind this and I am getting crazy here! ;-(
Thanks!!

Check if you're using compatible root. Try using another zip file to root your phone. That could also be the problem.
I will send you the file which worked for me if you want

Yes, please, if you can send me your files because I have tried many different zip files and it fails with all of them.
Do I need to root it again after I reinstalled the stock firmware (e.g. Android 2.3.6)?

Have attached the file. Check it out, though its the same file you used earlier. Use Odin to install Stock Firmware. I was on Gingerbread v2.3.6 when rooted using the attached file. Though you know the steps, let me put it on here.
-Use Odin to install Stock Firmware(You know how to connect the device & work on)
-Once the Stock Firmware is flashed successfully, check if your phone is good to go. Check if everything is working
-Now root your phone using the attached file.

Check this file & let me know. Maybe, the file should be renamed as in the attachment.
Post flashing, if you again face problems then try the below links for a solution

Thanks, after at least 10 attepmts of rooting and reflashing with ODIN I managed to root the phone (confirmed by Root Checker).
(Each root file update.zip, upd_1.zip, root.zip only works with some specific stock firmware, so I managed to finally find the right one for root file update.zip).
NOW: I am trying to install CM10.1 with the following steps:
- Boot into CWM Recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Format /System
- Install zip from SD card / choose ROM zip from SD card
but the boot fails (white screen for 2 seconds than black screen!!!)
I have already tried the following ROMs without success:
cm-10.1-20130503-NIGHTLY-cooper
cm-10.1.0-RC6-GT-S5830-cooper
cm-10.1.0-GT-S5830-cooper++
cooper_PAC_jb-13Dec
My baseband version is Android 2.3.6 with baseband: S5830XWKT7
Do you know which CM10.1 ROMs works well with this baseband???
THANKS!!!!

what's wrong¿?
Did you download the rom file correctly¿? Is the download file corrupted¿?
Is your sdcard corrupted¿? Did you try to format it in fat32 format?¿
Check it and then flash the rom again, CM roms work with whatever baseband you have, only with (2.3.x as base) and you need CWM5.x to flash this roms
IMPORTANT!! 5830I , 5830C and 5830M models aren't suppot!!!

I have the wifi only 7310 model of the 8.9
Overcme CwM Recovery 5.1.2.6
ROM was Galaxian Soup AOSP 1.6
My tablet resets during recovery. Half through a data wipe ROM install ROM backup or ROM restore it will reset and reboot.
It first happened when i booted into recovery and triedROM issue. to make a back up of m y current ROM and attempt to flash the aokp one. It reset during the backup process.
It shouldn't be a ROM issue. My tablet did this once before, it would reset when i did anything involvng dataon an Overcome ROM i think. Data wipe/backup etc. I left it alone while the ROM still worked and tried again a week later with no issues.
Any ideas? Now i have a soft brick that cant boot past the Samsung Screen. I can get into recovery and download modes.
EDIT* added a video
EDIT2:
The issue was solved.
What ended up happening what i attempted to flash back to stock software, ODIN would stall during the system.img. From this point i thought it was done, but i could still get into the stock recovery, i used the stock recovery to wipe the data after several failed attempts in a similar manner to this video.
One day it just worked. I could finally wipe data and cache without a reset. But i could't flash a file because ODIN would still freeze on the system.img. It was suwandiapr who showed me his walkthrough to push an file to recovery from adb. Thank you so much
I do NOT know why it my tablet/recovery starting resetting when i wanted to do a data/cache wipe/restore or why it decided to start doing it again. I tried the 5.5 cwm, the overcome 5.1 and the stock and none of them worked. Today i tried it on an off chance of boredom and it started working again. It is a confusing situation but that is what happened.
Again that you so much to Mr.Home and especially suwandiapr for all your help
> If you had a back up you can do advanced restore of just your system partition to get you tablet back on, though you will probably still have problem with the recovery
> If not, download the stock firmware tar.
Boot up to download mode using the power + vol combo.
flash the stock tar through odin.
boot up to download mode again.
this time flash the cwm recovery.
boot up to recovery mode.
wipe dalvikcache and data.
install aokp and gapps.
if it fails (cwm recovery stuck and reboots by itself during wiping /data partition or dalvik cache)
,chances are your data partition had been corrupted.
You can try fixing this by reflashing the stock firmware tar through odin again
just this time you need to have re-partition ticked.
and repeat above steps.
Take note that this will format the content your sd card too apart from the /data partition
EDIT: Please post this on the general section next time

Download Odin 1.85
Install Samsung USB drivers (should come with Kies)
Download stock firmware from samfirmware
Check the box beside PDA
Put the .md5 file into the PDA slot
Leave all other options on defaults
Put tablet into Download Mode (power and vol -, select the one that isn't recovery)
Connect it to your PC
Press START in Odin
Wait ~10 minutes
NOTE: this shouldn't wipe the internal sdcard. if you need to wipe that, select repartition and give Odin a PIT FOR THE P7310/7300 MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE OR YOU WILL BRICK BADLY.

Do you have a backup of yours in computer? If yes.. Push your file to device with adb...
Or replace with cwm 5.5.0.4.. ( if you not familiar with odin)
From cwm recovery 5.1.2.6 mount your /data and /system..
After that push your file (cwm 5.5.0.4. Zip and your backup file) to sdcard trough adb
Install cwm 5.5.0.4 from your recovery..then reboot..
Before you install your backup file.. Try to wipe and reboot your phone.. If problem still exist.. Your assumption about ROM may right.. But if your booting problem disappear.. I think its because yor recovery..

Edit: Do with your own risk..
After looking at the video, I noticed something similar that had happened to me before.
It happened when I tried to wipe the "cache" first, instead of wiping only the "dalvik cache".
After that, whenever i tried to wipe the dalvik cache/reset factory data,
the recovery reboots by itself halfway through.

Check the thread in my signature on the ODIN How-To, Drivers (no Kies/Bloat needed for drivers) and more. If I were you I'd ODIN so the Stock Recovery is restored in place. Looks like something went wrong in your CWM Recovery's installation (could be a bad download you had, it happens). All the files you need (except for the ODIN image) are in my General Guide.

Well, i just don't wipe cache. Only the dalvikcache and all went well..
I have a soft brick, no memory or sd card data. I can get into recovery but i don't have any files on the tablet to flash.
Are you windows user? if yes..
Just like my answer from previous post.. See page one!
Mount your /system and /data partition from recovery menu..(from cwm)
From your computer.. Use this tools for pushing the file flashable.zip to device..
After that you can flash a new rom from recovery..

I was running "TheMIDTeam 1.3" ROM & decided to upgrade to version 1.4 using the so call "safe" method using the "restore" method in CWM. unfortunatly this failed making my phone un bootable but I could still get into "download" mode.
I then thought I'd flash a stock ROM using odin and go from there. I chose the Taiwan N7000ZSLPF_N7000OZSLPF_OZS ROM. This all went OK & everything seem fine. I then relised this was not the ROM for me as it didn't contain "English Australian" amoungst other things. So I thought, no problem, I'l just flash something else more suitable, but no matter what else I flash with odin I keep getting "Force Close" continually once the phone has booted up. I tried many different ROMS from Gingerbread to ICS & keep getting the "Force Close" error.
I then flashed back the Taiwan ROM & it works fine but I am now stuck with that ROM.
The only difference with the Taiwan ROM that I can see was that it contained not just the PDA file like most ROM's but it had a PIT & BOOTLOADER & PDA & PHONE & CSC files. I think this may be where i've gone wrong. Maybe if I could find the stock international versions of all these files I may be able to flash these & get back to stock & start again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Anyone know where I can get the stock PIT & BOOTLOADER & PDA & PHONE & CSC
files so I can get back to stock?
I was also confused about the pit & bootloader files. I have used N7000XXLC1 open Europe with PC Odin. I have just sellected PDA file and everything went ok. Now I'm on stock GB without any problems

I have tried flashing 2 stock ICS ROMs & 3 different stock Gingerbread ROMs using PC odin only. They all give me continious "Force Close" error messages after bootup making the phone unusable.
If I flash back the Taiwan ROM all seems OK but I;m stuck with this ROM.
If I were you I would get a working version of the taiwan rom on the phone. Then flash a suitable CF kernel. Push a choice custom rom on your Sd card. And then flas that rom from CWM recovery. Only wiping cache and dalvik cache.
Just go into recovery and wipe all caches and factory reset and it will load fine it did it to me until I wiped all caches kept saying Google frame work has stopped

Well.... for quite obvious reasons I wouldnt recommend doing a factory reset on an official ICS kernel.
Something lile sssssuperbrick comes to mind.
This superbrick stuffs is getting on my tits how many people are wiping on there galaxy note using superbrick kernels and having no problems thousands?? hundreds of thousands??? but 20 people brick there phones and it's like Osama bin laden has created this emmc bug in the kernel to get us all.. We all know the dangers people could brick there phones using safe kernels because people make mistakes and or don't follow instructions

The Taiwan ROM that works is a ICS ROM, N7000ZSLPF_N7000OZSLPF_OZS.
I have thought of doing a full wipe via CWM but I'm afarid of the "SuperBrick" issue. In fact I was think maybe there is some coruption in the emmc partition already causing the "Force Close" errors I keep getting

Just clear your caches after each flash back from gb to ics vice versa and it will work fine
Here is your salvation installation
Dear KTM690 :
No need To Panic, here is your solution :
Let's suppose you are on the Stock LPF now :
1- Download the corresponding Rooted Kernel by Chainfire : I got it for you : http://download.chainfire.eu/176/CF-Root/SGN/CF-Root-SGN_ZS_OZS_LPF-v5.6-CWM5.zip
2- Extract it, you will have a tar file, Flash it with PC odin.
3- Reboot, now you are rooted and you have cwm recovery at the same time
4- Download the AbyssKernel V4.2 only : http://www.mediafire.com/?c65mndvpk6ocbaa
5- Put the zip file on your sdcard, don't extract it
6- Choose what ever ICS rom you like, let's say the TMT v1.4 that you wanted.
7- Put the zip file on your Sdcard.don't extract it
8- now shut off your phone, Press the Vol Up, Power and the Home Buttons at the same time, and you will be into cwm recovery mode.
9- Don't wipe anything, and Flash the AbyssKernel v4.2.
10- Don't reboot the phone, still in cwmr, go to advanced and choose reboot recovery.
11- You are now in recovery mode again, but with the Abyss Kernel instead of the rooted LPF one by chainfire.(now you have cwm touch recovery, tap with your finger now)
12- So It is totally safe now : wipe everything : data, cache, go to advanced and wipe dalvick cache, and battery stat, choose also Fix permissions while you are there.
13- choose back to go to the first screen,
Now you have Options, depending on what you have dowloaded as a Rom file...
14- If you want to flash the backup zip file from TMTv1.4 : choose backup and restore, and choose restore from internal sdcard, and look for your downloaded TMT zip file. (It should be clockworkmod/backup/TMT1.4...... Folder), I suppose you already have done it.!
15- If you have dowloaded the flashable TMT zip file, then choose install zip file, and choose file from internal sdcard..
In either cases : Reboot and you are done.
This is the cleanest installation you could have done, just don't skip any step !!!!
If this Helped, The thanks Button is next to you, ....and check my MOD : the 15 toggles in case .....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620625.
Good Luck.
Okay just flash whatever ROM you want (even if there are FCs), go into stock recovery (volume up home and power) and wipe data and cache. Reboot. This solved all the FCs for me when I had the same problem. Worth trying!

Thanks for you advise kimifender & everyone else.
I carried this out and now everything is back to normal.
I was just too worried about wiping everything because of the SuperBrick bug.

Glad for you
So, it`s my first custom rom so i don't have any experience with it, so yes, i'm a noobie.
I've seen the ICS 4.0 Sources Out thread for a while and when i saw the CM10 release by arcee i decided to give it a try
but got stuck on LG boot logo.
What i did:
1. install cwm recovery v4.0.0.5
2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe cache partition
4. install cm-10-20121030-nightly-p990.zip (success install)
5. reboot system now
Then it get stucked at the lg logo... i can acess the cwm and try to reflash the ROM... but it'll get stuck at the same logo
Any solution?
Thanks
EDIT1: Ok, i just flashed a stock rom and it worked... now i'm on stock gingerbread 2.3.4, any tutorial to install cm10?

How i do that? i don't see that option on cwm recovery
"
-reboot system now
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset (that's the one i used)
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced
-power off
-go back
"
EDIT1: I tried to format /system but it says "unable to mount"... mount doesn't work either
EDIT2: Backup file it isn't working... totally f***** up
1: wipe data/factory reset
2: wipe cache
3: advanced>wipe dalvik cache
4: mounts n storage>format data, format cache n format system
this is what is meant by full wipe
5: install CM10
6: install latest gapps package for jb
7: reboot system
this should work

What am I doing wrong?
Hi!
I never used CM7 or any custom rom.
I had 20s flashed via kdz.
I'm root. I installed ClockWorkMod recovery 4.0.0.5 and made clean cache, wipe dalvik etc.
I installed CM10 from zip (it only took a few seconds!) and rebooted. It showed two LG logos and never passed that.
I kept reading and saw this thread so I used smartflash to go back to FROYO, rooted, installed CWM and installed the last CM7 nightly (only a few seconds!) and rebooted.
All I get is a static LG logo and nothing else. I don't know what to do!
Thanks and sorry about my english!
1. NvFlash to 10b
2. Smart flash to latest stock ROM for your country
3. Rooted
4. Install ROM manager
5. After install ROM manager, open it
6. Install CWM v.6 through ROM manager
7. Boot into recovery
8. Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik-cache, wipe battery stats
9. Install latest cm10 nightly through install zip from SD card
10. Install gapss through install zip from sd card

How do I install Nvflash? I have found tutorials for it but they are for the g2x. Will it still work?
I bought an o2x to replace my sgs1 which is great with cm10.
My story:
Phone was used and bone stock with froyo and 725bb
Rooted
Installed rom manager then flashed cwm 6.0.1.5 from rom manager
wiped everything
installed latest CM7
usb mass storage stopped working (was working with stock froyo)
copied latest cm10 nightly and gapps to an sdcard
wiped again
flashed cm10 and gapps
now I'M stuck on cyanogenmod logo and the lower buttons are lightning
repeated the process few times and still stucked at cm logo
Any ideas? Thanks!
*Update* Removed the battery and restarted the phone and now it seems to be working!
Hey Guys,
I have this problem where i cant seem to flash to any new roms in CWM with the new roms in zip files on my SD card.
I have tried flashing to new kernels but it doesn't seem to change anything.
The last rom i flashed was Criskelo v7 and i haven't changed because i cant every time i try to flash something new in CWM it seems like it only just starts to do it then freezes and i leave it because it might be working and it always end up rebooting and then i find I'm back on Criskelo v7 as if its a fresh install and it need my google account / full setup as if its new but no new rom.
I have also tried updating CWM with odin it works to update odin but it still cant flash any new roms.
Am i doing something wrong? please if anyone has any idea let me know.
Sorry if this has been covered but i really did try and find similar problems.
Thanks
What does the screen read? Error 7?

Flash ANy ROMS
Dr_Rag
if you want to flash any roms using cwm,
1. Flash Safe kernels like Hydracore (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863) or Philz Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270).
2. Reboot in recovery
3. Do all 3 wipes (wipe data, wipe cache partition & wipe dalvik cache)
4. Flash romzip
5. Reboot
If you want to flash XXLS7 TW JB Dump Based Roms , then
1. Flash Safe kernels like Hydracore (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863) or Philz Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270).
2. Reboot in recovery
3. Do all 3 wipes (wipe data, wipe cache partition & wipe dalvik cache)
4. Format /system & /preload in mount and storage
5. Flash romzip
6. Reboot
BTW what rom you are going to install
I had a similar issue and it was a root issue.
To see if it is the same for you, if you have SuperSU, open it, and press 'Continue' if prompted to update binary. If this fails, your problem is root related, the solution of which is below. Unfortunately I don't know how else to test if you don't have SuperSU or if the update prompt doesn't appear.
Below is how I fixed the problem. It may not work for you, and if it doesn't, it's not my fault.
Also note this method will fix the issue no matter what caused it, and wipes data, so backup what you need. It also assumes your ROM is flashable.
1 Put your ROM anywhere in /storage/sdcard0 on your phone.
2 Go to hotfile.com/dl/155490069/c7932d4/N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_DBT.zip.html on your computer to download N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_DBT.
4 Extract this to produce N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5.
5 Flash this through Odin.
6 After your phone reboots (you can't get into the actual OS so you must do this in the Samsung boot animation), enter recovery.
7 Wipe data and cache.
8 Enter download mode.
9 Go to puu.sh/1q5mJ to download GL_NOTECORE_HYDRACORE_v4-3b_STD.tar.
10 Flash this through Odin.
11 After your phone reboots (you don't need to wait to get into the actual OS - you can do it in the Samsung boot animation), enter recovery.
12 Flash your ROM.
Hi there! I want to test the official CM12.1 rom so I decided to format the phone and flash a custom kernel and then the rom.
First I flashed TWRP (2.8.7.0) using fastboot and enter it. I made a complete wipe using the advanced wipe and marking all options (except usb-otg).
Once the partitions are clean I flashed the kernel using the install option and selecting the zip file, finally the same for the CM12.1 rom (nightly). Wiped cache and dalvik and restart, but somehow miui reinstalled.... (it is possible to completely delete miui?). The kernel seems to be the stock (3.4.0-g7f72d41-01413-g70bd50e).
I read in the official CM12.1 post that the rom automatically extends the system partition (merging the two system partitions to have a partition with 1.28GB), is this true or do I have to do it manually (flashing something?).
Thanks.
Flash this once and your partition will be 1.2 GB.
Thanks! Is it normal that it still shows just 629MB? (I can see it in the repair/resize/change-file-system section).
Now, every rom that I flash it stucks at the "mi boot logo"... Maybe I'm doing something wrong; I wipe/factory reset (including cache/dalvik) and then flash the zip, and (wipe again, the option at the left to reboot) and reboot to system.... It's stuck, I tried with other custom roms and it happens the same. What am I doing wrong??
Did you switched the partition (system 1 for non - miui and system 2 for miui)? It's located in advanced options in cwm.

Yes, the repartition zip only works on CWM. People said that they have problem while repartitioning with TWRP.
