E: Unable to mount '/data' E: Unable to mount '/system' - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi fellow flash addicts and esteemed developers I have a problem and I am one of those if I do ask help for a problem it is a PROBLEM I have tried everything this is just to see if something has been left out and any help is appreciated.
I have a galaxy s which has been lying around, the main fault with this which is hindering progress is that it has a faulty usb port, it can charge but no connection to computer my guess is as I got it used the port has been changed.
The Good
1. it has recovery
2. boots up to logo
The Bad
1. broken usb port (damn it)
2.
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount '/system'
Those messages come up when i try to flash.
As the port is broken the only way is to somehow repair this through recovery if this is possible.
Currently running Mackay Recovery v2.4.4.0
Right geniuses and geeks thanks in advance, even if you just read up to title

[Q] Milestone doesn't recognize sd card and error flashing

Hi all,
I just bought a Milestone, after reading this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196&page=13
I managed to run bootloader and install the UK vulnerable recovery as linked above (2.2). But the step after that: flash update.zip, I cannot apply it, the errors keep pumping out:
"E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted"
And the sdcard works randomly, most of the time android cannot recognize it, sometimes I just leave the phone blacked out for 1 minute and sdcard appears again T_T
Please help me out T_T, thank you
Bump !
replace the card
I replaced it with 2 other cards but apply update.zip still not working, errors changed to:
"E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (Invalid argument)
I've seen something fairly similar before. Make sure you try different brand cards if at all possible, and it wouldn't hurt to format them on a regular computer as well. I'll see if I can't dig up an article on the formatting type that was generally considered best for our phones....

[Q] problem when starting

After flashing my i9000 and installing a rom i have a problem my phone block in the animation of samsung and when i clik in vol+ / home / alim i found this error
E:failed to mount /sdcard (files exists),
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10 (invalid Argument)
Please help it's so urgent :/
if you are not able to get into recovery... you might have to get into download mode, install a ODIN flashable Kernel and then trying re-flashing the ROM...
you can find the steps for ODIN in this link...
http://www.semaphore.gr/how-to/flash-semaphore-kernel
make sure you have the required drivers installed on your PC...
this link also has a lot of information 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493'...

[Help] I'm having /cache mounting errors; how can it be fixed (no Windows)?

Hello!
I was going to clear the cache partition (ROM was acting strange) one night (night before New Year's 2017 of all the times) when these errors came up:
Code:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
Attempting to mount /cache fails with this error:
Code:
E: Error mounting cache!
I did find a thread showing this exact phenomenon: https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-general/bricked-phone-cache-img-canvas-a1-t3307290
However, it's not helping me too much since the main solution there is using SP Flash Tool; it is (to my knowledge) a Windows-only tool, but I don't have a Windows install on any of my computers (all Linux units). Are there any alternate methods to resolving this issue?
EDIT: Originally intended to be a Q&A thread, but I forgot to check the box for it;oh well!
Same problem, not able to flash any ROM, clear any partition, or reboot.
As for SP flash tool, it hard bricked my friend's phone ( wiped everything but didn't download...
Searched many threads for this , but no solution..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A backup might be able to solve the issue. That won't work for me though since I had previously deleted mine due to a prior SD card failure.
