I don't know if any of you have experienced this, but the Google Search app takes very long to return search results for me. Like 10-15 seconds or more. I disabled all the Phone Search options in the menu and it didn't make a difference. I thought it was just a problem with my phone.
People on reddit seem to have discovered a way to fix this by disabling "Search Applications Provider" under Settings->Apps->All->Search Applications Provider.
This is the description for Search Applications Provider: com.android.providers.applications ApplicationsProvider.apk Fetches the list of applications installed on the phone to provide search suggestions.
After I did this, the first search still took 15 seconds, but all subsequent searches were instant.
Tried it on cm10.1 and it works fine

Hi guys, having a slight problem with the market here, quite often when I'm searching for something in the market it will not display my results, it will say "9 results found for (app name)" and then it will give me search suggestions underneath, the only way for me to fix this problem is then to use my task manager, end the market task and then re-open the market and search for the app again, all results then display correctly. Now this wouldn't be such a big problem if it did it rarely but if say I'm searching for apps for 20 mins, it will do this about 6 times. Now it did this on the default Hero ROM when I first got the phone and now I'm on MoDaCos 2.9 ROM and it still does it, anyone have a solution? cheers
I'm not sure, but it appears the App Market included in Autonooter has a bug. This bug is why search only lists 10 results (out of say... 1452) with no scrolling. For the longest time I had just assumed there weren't many apps available for Android. I didn't notice it until recently, when searching for a good gallery app (QuickPic)
The work-around for me is to login to the website and install from there.
edit:
Or running it sideways.

Sorry for the repost. I didn't do a good enough job searching for this problem before posting.
edit2:
I took a few minutes to install CM7. That *really* fixed it- and a few other things.
When I try a search querie in the Google Search app for Android (I am on the lastest nighlty of Cyanogenmod 9). Google Search has the tendency to kick me out after just typing one letter, but when I just open the Google Search app and leave it, it remains at the screen. Also it does give suggestion after just searching with only one letter, like for example 'w' gives whatsapp etc. So is anyone else having this problem, and how did you solve it?
(It does work somethimes, but that has a smaller chance than it kicking me out. There also isn't any mentioning that the app has crashed. It just brings me back to the android home screen...)
Are any of you having issues with the Google Now search of installed applications? I have the checkbox checked in the Google Now settings (Settings -> Phone search -> Apps- Names of installed applications), but sometimes this just stops working until I go into the settings again to uncheck and check it.
This also happens with my Contacts

Yes! This just started for me a couple days ago. The only thing that setting you mentioned above does for me now is search THROUGH installed apps for hits, but no longer brings up the app itself. Unfortunately your fix of checking and unchecking doesn't seem to do the trick for me (I'm on a Note 2).
For anyone who's not familiar with this behavior, it's a really nice feature of the main Google Now bar everyone should have on their home screen:
Punching in part of an app name in the Google Now bar pulls up hits including the app itself.
It's very convenient to for example turn on your phone, type in "Scan", and get as the top hit the Genius Scan app for example (you might only remember the "Scan" part of the name of the app).
Or type in "Face" and the Facebook app shows up. (Partials work.)
It's very similar to the iOS left-swipe search, the Windows 7 Start button, and OSX Spotlight.
Hunting and pecking through the app list is for chumps.
After today's Google+ update patch, this issue is now resolved.
same problem here..

I noticed today, that when I search for a shop and tap directions, the directions are displayed in the browser insted of in the maps app. I am pretty sure my previous android (SGS4) did not exhibit the same behaviour.
I am running InsertCoin 1.1.0.
Is there any fix?

Thanks,
It was me cross posting in the rom thread as well. My issue is that I don't get the option to choose Google Maps from the Open With window when I search for a place and choose Directions.
Anyway I was asking for help in a Slovenian forum as well and found out that the issue is not Rom related, neither is it location related, ie. me being from Slovenia, where Google Navigation isn't available (but getting directions is). There is a person on H1 using the Android Revolution Rom reporting that he also only gets to choose browsers.
Also, one person with stock Nexus 4 is reporting that he does get the Google Maps option when selecting directions, while at least one person with a custom rom on Nexus 4 is reporting that he also only gets to choose from browsers.

Turns out the fix is quite trivial.
Settings - Accounts - Select the google account - select search - add checkmark at search at google.com instead of the local one!
Presto now it offers me to select Google Maps.
