Its beacause of oxidation in usb cable that has on it speaker and power button,33 euros to fix even with root,go fix when u have the money, and avoid water when it rains, and use wifi sharing apps so that usb doesnt brake again.USBcable in p970 is problematic i guess.
I have the same problem , i tried to flash CM10.1 from ICS and my phone bricked . When i try to flash stock rom with smart flash tool the phone is not recognized , when i'm in s/w upgrade mode. do you think is a hardware problem ?

I think my problem is because of drops. I dropped this phone like 100 times. Still good. But yeah. Power button dead. Cannot connect as mass storage. Or anything else. But i can charge.

Squeeze the phone hard beside the camera and see if the button works while doing this. Basically squeeze where the USB port is.

I have this problem on my galaxy s plus, but the i9000 has the same battery so maybe you know the anwser to
Anyway. My battery acts strange. When i am not charging, the battery icon keeps flashing: charging, not charging, charging, not carging.
Like i put my charger in and out very fast every second
Problem is that my phone wont go in deepsleep and that the display wont go off (because the display goes on when you put your charger in your phone). So the battery drain is huge!
My main question: is this software or hardware related?
P.s. i flashed three different roms (full wipe) and everytime same problem.

It must be a software problem !! Like virus .....
Try this steps to fix it :
1- remove external sd .
2- format your internal sd card from setting .
3- flash another rom.
Please reply if it work ^_^

Try cleaning your USB slot, its likely due to moisture , where its shorting externally or internally , caused by vbat to vbus shorting
Okay i tried both and now i dont have any problems anymore! Thanks guys.
I cant tell what method worked eventually....

Sry the second rom is TiesToDroid.

Odp: Two problem!!!
Change your rom.
For minijb try pressing the lock for three times screen may appear , if doesn't work its better to reset by pressing home+power button.
& tiestoaldroid I'm sure it's a bug with audio output, but u can fix it by some apps at market.
This is Jay-z-s
If you want to try JB then use MiniCM10 4.1.0 with nAa's latest kernel.
How can i fix this??

ctrl has already said:use minicm4.1.0
always use roms from recognized developers, that way you will never get such bugs.
I heard from a thread that using rom manager bricks this phone if you have a partitition and I'd bought the premium version before partitioning my sd card, just want to ask, is this true?

Why would u use that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942957 !!!
Go on CWM, its healthier for our Ace!
It has nothing to do with having a partition or not.
It bricks the phone anyways. Better remove that app, its dangerous if you don't know what functions of it can be used safely.
Oh, so the whole thing bricks it? Why is that, also I am using cwm anyways

Mostly the motherboard i think, people reported that they had to get new a motherboard installed in order to unbrick it.
Hmm, that's confused me, I thought it would have broke it system wise. I know how to flash, root, etc, but I'm not exactly sure how they all work, but I thought that flashing just overwrit the system+os. So two questions, when you root/flash does that interact with the hardware in anyway and how?

Rom manager ... flashes new recovery ... with wrong mounting points ... making your phone useless it will be like having the light switch of your kitchen in your bed room and your bed room light switch on your attic ... know what i mean? Nothing will work !! Since the phone will change the mp to points that dont exist on your phone.
Just flash cwm from stock recovery or from odin and you'll be ok

Are you able to get in recovery or download mode?
Also, what's currently flashed on the phone?
CM10
can get to download mode but cant when it comes to recovery mode.

I am fairly sure that is not the CM10 charging image in your photo. Did you have a custom kernel running on top of CM?
If so, then check that kernel's thread for other ideas.
Also, if you only got into download mode with the vol button + insert usb cable method, then you probably have a bad battery. If you try to boot while on charger does it boot normally?
Good battery? Since you have download mode, you can try using odin to flash stock kk4 and see if your hardware is good. Wipes your data for sure.
