USB device offline - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed all HTC drivers but adb says device offline. is that because of USB 3.0 I use ? Anything else ?

So long as you're using the latest ADB (1.0.31) the phone will ask permission to connect to the PC. If you don't tick this it won't work

Help with ADB

Ok i made a post and it was moved to trash and it says i dont have permission to post there so ill just move it here.....
Ok well i have been trying for like 2 hours now to get ADB to work. I followed all the guides, installed the 1.5 SDK and everything even did the Enviroment Variable thing as well. When i plug in my G1 i dont get any popup of a new device or anything. In device manager there is not ADB as well just Android Phone and when i uninstall it, it installs again on its own when i plug the phone in again. I went to cmd and typed in adb shell but i get "device not found".
Anyone know whats wrong? Btw im using Windows Vista SP1
I went into fastboot and that gave me the new driver notification so i have fastboot working but when i go to ADB i get device not found and device manager finds my phone as a universal usb device or w/e. Why wont this work?!?!?!?
It sounds like you didn't install the drivers.
Read this (I wrote it). You should have adb working in no time.
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f28/what-is-adb-made-easy-17732/
Did you update the driver for the phone (should currently be showing as one of the USB Composite Device, IIRC) with the ADB driver included in the SDK (android_usb.inf in <sdk root directory>\usb_driver\)?
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Vista, alternatively, you can try the 64-bit signed driver found here. Also, you can try the updated driver I have attached.
Well, if you used your phone as a card reader at any point before you enabled USB debugging, then you'll have to uninstall the USB Mass Storage Device associated with your phone first. After that, unplug and plug the USB cord back in and it'll install the USB Mass Storage Device and then it'll ask about the ADB interface. That's your chance to install the driver that everyone is talking about but didn't spend the time to explain how to get there if you were in this situation...
never mind i got it. I used a program to uninstall all the Android USB drivers then i plugged it back in and it worked. Thanks for the help guys!

t-mobile g1 pc suite

Hello everyone,I just want a pc suite for my htc t-mobile g1 so I can install applications because htc sync and android pc suite can't recognize my phone.
adb is your friend, don't need an app for that, just cmd/terminal.
Can't you just use the Market? O.O
Thanks for your replay but adb is not working for me (device offline) and I can't open the market because wifi is not working good.

i use it all the time. really useful

If ADB isn't working, check to make sure you have the updated drivers first. Here.
I insttalled android-sdk-windows and I did all the updates but when I try to install an application with adb I get (error:device offline) so I don't know where is the problem.
you need the compatible G1 drivers first.
One way to do this is to install PDA-Net (just the free version) and install that... reboot your computer and then try adb. The drivers are in the pdanet software and its a fix. You can uninstall pda-net (after you get adb working) because the drivers will stay on the computer.
also you do know you are supposed to run adb when the phone is on... running its regular system.
I installed pda net and I get android original adb interface installed but the driver of usb mas storage is not installed and I still have the same probleme (device offline).

Cant mount CD into PC

Hi all,
I'm currently using MIUI 2.1a released in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588360
I connect my phone into pc and toggle on the mount usb storage but i cant see the external drive in my computer.
I tried it with diffrerent PC's and reflashed the same ROM result is the same. Any ideas?
PS:It was working before.(with this ROM) after a certain thing(dont know what) it happened.
Try reinstall the LG-drivers from the LG-page.
Could try usb debugging and check to see whether your PC even recognises ur phone using the command "adb devices".
Then if ur phones is recognised it should install drivers automatically (if ur on windows 7).
If not then as @pacos1 said, install the LG United Mobile Drivers either through the lg P970 support page or through their update module.

USB Debugging and MTP use different drivers and are different protocols.
Open a command prompt in windows then type:
adb devices
You should get a response with a serial number if USB debugging is working.
If so then it's likely an MTP driver problem or MTP isn't enabled.
In developer options under USB configuration, ensure MTP is enabled.
If so check the device is detected as an MTP device in windows device manager.

What the USB configuration is set to is actually moot. When the device is plugged in to a PC the tablet will bring up a notification stating what mode the USB port is in and also provide the option to change that to MTP mode (Transfer files), provided the drivers are correctly installed and all is in working order. By changing USB configuration to MTP the tablet shows up immediately on the PC but you still have to switch to "Transfer file" mode before you can move files between devices. Either way the results are the same and it takes the same number of steps. I always leave my USB configuration in "System Default" and I have never had any issues.

Thanks for helping! under device manager the tablet is showing as a mass storage controller not an mtp device. Even though in the tablet itself I have it set to mtp under developer options.
When I do the command "adb devices" I get this message
C:\Users\Brian\Downloads\platform-tools_r28.0.0-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
nothings there
Also I was reading this is happening because of the newest stock update from Samsung.. is that true?

No response from the adb command suggests you don't have the correct adb drivers installed or the device isn't being detected at all.
Have you installed the ADB drivers?
I would try a different cable first. Is Windows device manager detecting the device if it's plugged in/unplugged?

Still having trouble here, too.
After flashing a ROM and attempting to install what was probably the wrong Gapps version, I'm now getting a boot loop into TWRP, and the device is still not recognized. I can boot into 'Download Mode', but the device is still not being seen by my PC. I have tried multiple times to install the USB drivers, but Odin 3.12.3 is still not seeing the tablet.
Much as I hate installing hokey, bloated software, would KIES be helpful here?
So, all is not lost (yet) - I can still access TWRP, but I'm not sure where to go from here.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you have.

Considering download mode is totally OS independent and neither uses adb nor mtp drivers it seems the issue is either incorrectly installed usb drivers or faulty cable, device or port issues.
Boot to Download mode, open device manager then plug in the usb cable.
Windows should detect the device as a USB composite device.
If there is no detection then there is a communication issue between device and PC which could be any one of the afore mentioned reasons.
No matter what windows should show some sort of detection as soon as the device is plugged in.
No detection means no matter what drivers are installed its not going to work.
It's probably worth uninstalling the usb ports then rebooting.
Then trying again.

Well, I'll be dipped in $hit.
What's the probability that one guy could have three dodgy USB cables? Used one, wiggled it around and the PC recognized the device. Looks like I'm in for a quick trip to WallyWorld. Thanks!

Are you certain this is a genuine Samsung and not a copy?
Can you post the build details from the app Phone Info.
